glowing_dragon: (Happy Birthday!)
Vanessa came over from UBC after work, so I had MORE COFFEE TIME while she was here, haha. She also took photos of my GOOD TASTE dumplings and my JOY dumplings for me! We talked about the Food Ranger guy on Youtube and his DEATH SPICY HOT POT CHALLENGE, her family, what she got me for my birthday, scary people like Rasputin and killer nurses, GWAR, snacks, borrowing my fridge, opening the Ramnune, Then we were off to Mega Sushi in Steveston for my birthday dinner with her, Christon, Eric M., and Laurie. Turns out Christon and Laurie were there first, but I did explain about the reservation time change. We talked about abscesses, health, brains, getting a ride from Eric for next week's dinner, Willingdon church, livestreaming church services, the Canucks, what I did for my birthday, Brad Best, healthcare in the US, paying for my meal, Eric's card and chocolates, and life. It was pretty fun, and Vanessa dropped me off at 8:50 before heading for home herself.

Sushi boat for two from MEGA SUSHI in Steveston: Appetizer tempura, big boss roll, California roll, two pieces of tuna sashimi, two pieces of salmon sashimi, two pieces of ebi, ebi sunomono, and miso soup!

Last night, Jon said that I was welcome to come over for lunch, and that physio was at 2:15. Sounded good to me, as I could get my Compass Card back that way, as well as spend more time with the kids! Time to put the thing in my wallet instead of my pocket while I'm out of the house! I got to the house early, but at least I could spend some quiet time to chill. When Jon and the boys got back from an appointment, we had chicken and tofu tacos for lunch before going to physio. The boys had fun making up bus stops (Steveston and Portland / Seattle / Surrey?!), and imitating the "BEEP BEEP BEEP" of the wheelchair ramps around here! Jon asked me how white Eric was; you see him more often than I do! Apparently, someone has set up a birthday dinner for him at Jeremy's on Sunday, but I haven't gotten any emails about it. I guess he's pretty busy! Later, Jon asked if Chinese Eric had any friends; I have no idea since even HE had to work on his own birthday!

We talked about Jeremy and his going down to Corvallis (Oregon) to see the solar eclipse with Christon and white Eric last week, my emailing Kevin some birthday wishes, whether they'd sent Fraser anything for his birthday ("oops"), my doing some dishes after a dinner of corn chowder and bread, Penny the speech therapist, Beck / Weird Al making me think of Jeremy, the Dead Kennedys, zone strategies, and September scheduling. When I got home at 7:45 on a 407, I finally registered the Compass Card online! Jimmy had messaged me this morning, but I'd ignored it in favor of doing my own thing, especially because of last night's lyrics debacle which HE could have easily prevented. Tommy's just messaged me as well, but I'll ignore that for certain.

Yay! My Facebook friends have LOVED my posts 400 times! :D

glowing_dragon: (Devilish Smile)
I had a dream where Jimmy was driving me and Tommy in a van somewhere, and Jimmy kept saying that he would choose Tommy over me, even as he dropped him off at a house somewhere before going into Richmond (where we both lived for whatever reason) and hanging out with me at a crowded conference. Okay then, subconscious! I'm probably going to make a new Facebook music group called COME AS YOU ARE, too. Tommy would automatically be blacklisted because of my rule of not typing like a moron. Punctuation is important! Jimmy says he wouldn't choose him over me, so we'll see.

"Your Intellect Eclipses Your Isolation"

You are constantly seeking to know more about the world. Understanding is always your key to happiness.
You may not be a naturally social person, but you connect with others freely when shared interest, knowledge, and passions are involved.

You are curious about the world and new ideas. You are open to changing your mind, and are constantly collecting information.
You are not quick to judge someone, even if you think you disagree. You seek to learn more instead.

Not sure about the last two sentences, especially right now at my stage of life! I can be quite comfortable judging people, especially if they act defensive / manipulative / supercilious / toxic! Trust me, I had to deal with at least one of those people last week! No, thanks! I have no time for that!
glowing_dragon: (No Netspeak!)
Last night, Tommy was being pretty annoying with his continuous Facebook messages, so I gave him one-word answers till he apparently got the hint. Then he dragged me into a Facebook group chat with Helen and Jimmy at 10:15 PM to talk about Jen and defend her behavior. We weren't too impressed with his excuses and "staying neutral" for a manipulative and defensive and condescending "friend," to say the least! Then I was not happy when Tommy messaged me earlier today by saying that he'd allow me my space, but I could talk anytime I was willing to. What?! I later sent that screenshot to Helen and Jimmy in our own group chat. No, I am not rude for setting boundaries and telling him like it is. Jimmy apparently read everything at work today, at least.

Tommy is stupid!

Today is Left-Handers Day! I had to deal with a lot of online drama this morning, which involved some rude and condescending Penguins fan named Jennifer who thought that she had an IQ of 169, and that my "attitude problem" could be solved by talking to her. I don't THINK so! Thank goodness Helen Y. understood, while Jimmy could definitely relate, and Tommy was okay with people leaving that Metropolis Division group chat on Facebook. Hopefully, Jimmy and I can forge more of a friendship! I think it's a good sign that he says he trusts me (gotta make sure that stays) and wants me to speak my mind / anything to him. I'll just take this friendship slowly, as per usual.

From Julie: Talton English?!

From Not Always Working: Khristy Monigold?! The only acceptable spellings for that name are Christy and Kristy. MAYBE Kristi or Cristy.

In FINAL FANTASY VI: THE ETERNAL CRYSTALS, the party finally makes it to the Ancient Castle dungeon. They find Queen Yunalesca's Diary in a room to the right of the throne! "A book, with a gem-encrusted cover... Queen Yunalesca's Diary."

In the GBA version of FINAL FANTASY VI, the diary is simply "The Queen's Diary." In the SNES version (not pictured), the diary is even more simple: "Queen's Diary." It says, "The Queen's Diary... I have fallen in love with Odin. It is a forbidden love, I know... But the flames of passion obey not rule or reason..."

This is from the SNES version: If Terra is in the FINAL FANTASY VI party at this point, she will have something to say after everyone reads the Queen's Diary. "Love between a human and an Esper..." Yes, that is her defining character trait!

I started out my morning by trying - and failing - to kill a silverfish that was CRAWLING ON MY COMPUTER DESK AND ON ME! Luckily, I wasn't wearing shorts! I bleached the desk later on, then promptly got a headache. Jon sent me an FB message to see if I could come tomorrow instead; I said no because I needed to shower and do laundry. At least he thanked me for letting him know! Then I talked to Vanessa about Krista, and to Tommy about music.

Since I got up at 7:25 AM, it was COFFEE TIME! Later, I called Seafair Safeway customer service to see if I could return Oakridge Safeway items there instead. Since I could, I made plans to go there to return the Tostitos / Mrs. Renfro's salsa since I can't open it even with the jar opener! Before going out at 12:30, I called Chrystal at work to confirm things for tomorrow since I didn't want to waste a shower later, and we are on! At Seafair, they gave me grief about not specifying the brand and type of salsa since they didn't sell the Ghost Pepper there, so they'd have to throw it out. That's not my problem if I just want to return it - and no, I was not going back to the Oakridge Safeway!

When I got on the 402 back to Brighouse, I was surprised when someone called my name. It turned out that Uncle Peter and Auntie Ying were on that bus, having come from a massage and then doing some shopping later! So of course I talked to them all the way to Brighouse! I browsed Shoppers briefly, then bought Heluva Good dip (French Onion / Dill Pickle) which has a limited shelf life but is WAY EASIER to open, Welch's prune juice (which I could open WITHOUT the jar opener for now), NEW Tasty Bite Thai Lime rice, NEW Tasty Bite Thai Penang Ginger Curry sauce, and a dark blue GOODY toothbrush holder at London Drugs before getting home at 2:40 on a 407 in the rainy weather.

The FINAL FANTASY VI: THE ETERNAL CRYSTALS party is talking to the soldiers at Vector just before the dinner banquet with Emperor Zemus. This armored soldier says, "Someone OUTTA thrash ya!" That's a stupid mistake!

Tonight's menu:

Bo Ssam [Korean pork], served with rice, kimchi, ssam sauce, ginger-scallion sauce, lettuce, and love.
Jap Chae (Korean glass noodles)
Various Banchan: Napa Cabbage Kimchi, Roasted Seaweed, Marinated Bean Sprouts, Soy and Sesame Spinach, Cucumber Kimchi, Garlic Chive Kimchi
Beer: BYOB!
Barley Tea
Aloe Vera Drinks

Eric M. called me at 11:30 from church to say that he wouldn't be going back to Richmond, but could give me a ride back from Jeremy's. Sure, I can bus there, and I didn't have to leave the house really early at 2 PM! That gave me more time to do stuff! After COFFEE TIME (during which I almost left with my pants on backwards), I left the house at 4, and killed a slight bit of time at Kingsgate Mall. The Books, Etc. store is now 90% DVDs and puzzles! I bought NEW Moscow Mule Kettle chips, OXO beef bouillon sachets, and a Hot Beef Pho Mr. Noodles bowl from Buy-Low Foods before walking over to Jeremy's at 5:15 or so. Unfortunately, I had to see my ex-friend Randal, who mentioned to Jon's friend Mallory that he has "a passion for God and wants it to show at work" - THAT'S NOT WHAT YOU DO! I can't believe I ever liked him!

I said hi to Julie S., Ivan, Emily, Sam, Quan, Gino, Kevin, and Caleb after meeting Jon's other friend Eric (from Jacob's Well) / Angel / Mallory. Then I talked to Stanley about my 90% whiskey, his band, Peter Gabriel, the CODEX, weird acoustic dubstep, and the whiskey. I updated both Jesse and Jon's friend Rebecca about my life recently, and talked about the summer / no editing for Holly / not doing well with change / all this unknown stuff possibly impacting people's recovery (Rebecca said that my point was a very good one which she hadn't thought about before), Jacob's Well needing $50,000 and already raising $42,000 in two weeks / all my nephews loving me ("You have to stay longer! Stay all night!") / Ontario hydro bills. One guy in a Youtube / NPR video even had a traffic cone inside his saxophone, haha! Eric and I left early (after I paid $10 and he made a comment about my chips), and I got home at 9:05.

Then I noticed that Chinese Eric had called me at 5:45, so I called him back at 10. He had called me by accident, but he wanted to see if I was up for seeing a Blue Jays-Mariners game this weekend. I thought he meant a literal road trip, but thank goodness he didn't. He says it's been eight months (really six or so) since we hung out here; he's been busy and apparently had a problem with his Hotmail account, but didn't really specify what. (but did say that he had 3500 emails to sort through... JUST DELETE THEM!) We also talked about heat, a sauna, the 162-game MLB schedule, and catching up later. Hopefully, I don't have to do anything else after next Sunday for quite a while! DRAINING!

Since I was up early at 4:50 AM (ugh), I had some COFFEE TIME. I finally unsubscribed from Trivia Today and Bizarre News because of all the ads that Gopher Central and PulseTV were letting through - atrocious! There was a Shaw and phone outage at 11:30, so I decided to go to bed. Woke up at 1:30, and the phone was working, so I tried to call Chrystal at work to see when a good time would be to get together. Apparently, she was off today through Thursday. Okay, then!

From Janina: NASCAR presents the Walmart 500.

From Reddit: I don't care if you lick windows, take the special bus, or occasionally pee on yourself... you hang in there, sunshine, you're friggin' special.

I went out at 2:15 and wasted time at Richmond Centre trying to find a NEW Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino. Then I just missed a 410 bus to Big Crazy; when I got there, I bought Knorr hot and sour soup mix x5 / JOY dumplings x 4 (lamb and onion, pork and vegetable, pork and tri-treasure, pork and chive) / NEW Burning Dry Noodles in chili oil flavor / a family-size 400g bag of Nongshim shrimp crackers / NEW Chongqing Hot and Sour noodles in a cup. After that, I just missed a 410 bus for London Drugs, where I eventually bought NEW Häagen-Dazs Spirits ice cream x4 (Rum Ginger Cookie / Irish Cream Coffee Biscotti / Whiskey Chocolate Truffle / Rum Vanilla Caramel Blondie) and a new red Gibson owl coffee mug without a sticker on the bottom or inner bumps. I got home at 3:55, no thanks to having to wait for a 407.

Sherry Norris wanted to add me to Facebook from the Puckheads - okay, then! Experienced the "whoosh-whoosh" in my ears again, too! Talked to Vanessa briefly on MSN when she asked about something... yeah, that's still going on. I was going to go out for a short while to visit Grandma and feed her some dinner... I unexpectedly saw my parents there, so they wanted to take me out for dinner AFTER we helped Harmony with the baby. At least I did feed Grandma some congee and her actual dinner of meat / veggies / mashed potatoes, and she thanked me for it mid-feed! She wanted to feed herself some dessert, so I let her do that while keeping an eye on her.

Of course, she asked me whether I wanted some food! As usual, I said no. Mom gave me some shoes and a bunch of mostly-old snacks from Grandma's room (Bugles / Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa medicine with an expiry date of 2002?! / shredded pork / cream wafers / shrimp crackers / Chinese egg rolls / strawberry jam) before we left to see the baby. She also let me invite Chinese Eric to Thanksgiving Dinner - I didn't tell her that I already had invited him during Monday's marathon phone call - and wondered if he'd like to help with Grandma, hahaha! I threw most of the stuff out except the Bugles, which were still good / non-aired out. Later, I got to hold the baby (who smiled and grabbed my finger) for a while before he got fussy - he wanted to look out the window, of course. He also apparently enjoyed bathtime, and HATED being taken out of the water since he cried A LOT! It was cold even inside, for sure.

Harmony says they got back from Portland today, and got really good at eating really fast since the baby had meltdowns every time they wanted to have dinner! The parents and I went to a Vietnamese place to have dinner - it used to be Sun Wong Kee, and I remember it well. After pork / chicken / lamb / shrimp / noodles, we went to see if Mom could find Neo-Citran at London Drugs since she was sick; luckily, she could! (Nicole couldn't last night!) I finally got home at 8:35 or so, to a rather perfidious email from Randal about how my tagging him resulted in "trivial" emails, and how it wouldn't matter if I unfriended him. FINE THEN, I'LL GRANT YOUR WISH! NO MORE HEALING FOR YOU! If you want to be unfriended that badly because you can't stand the emails you get when I tag you in pictures and other people comment on them, FINE! I will grant you your wish, you perfidious fucking asshole. At least others were nicer about it!
