Overpriced lemon-mint hand sanitizer! It's April Fools Day 2020 today. UGH! I went out at 5:35 on a 407 to do some shopping at London Drugs. Then I got NEW All Clean lemon-mint spray hand sanitizer for $2 cheaper than the pharmacy next door, on-sale Natural Choice multi-purpose printer paper, on-sale HERSHEY'S cookies and cream Easter eggs, on-sale Hershey's Reese Eggies, an on-sale Frankford cookies and cream Easter bunny, a new iDesign shower mat, new Splash shower curtain hooks, and NEW Amarena Cherry / O111range Porta chocolate bars x2.

Noticed that bus seats were actually closed and there was an announcement sign about giving people more space. Got home at 6:35 on another 407, and then noticed the marked / unmarked police cars right outside my window at 6:55. I'm beginning to think that this IS the 7 PM cheer for medical workers since they started up right around then, and left a couple minutes afterwards.

Took a shower tonight and noted that this foliage shower curtain seems to be doing its job right now. It seems to have more coverage area than the old Splash shower curtain, so that's good. There was a lot of noise right outside my window around 6:50 PM - unmarked police cars, marked police cars, sirens, and ambulances! TOTALLY unconnected to the 7 PM cheer for medical workers since that hasn't happened around here!

After COFFEE TIME, I had to go out at 11:20 to meet Mom and Dad for my new reading glasses and some lunch. Mom wondered why I didn't turn my cellphone on - why not save battery life if I don't NEED it on all day? She wasn't impressed when I told her that, but whatever! At home, I just use it to briefly check things like redundant Youtube notifications / Facebook messages and texts. When I'm out and about, it's a different story!

We had stew beef noodles, hot and sour soup, long Chinese dumplings (wo-teep), and siu long bao (soup dumplings) for lunch at Dinesty. Dad told me that she was slowing down, so I had to look after her - if I feel like it, maybe. Then we went to the nearby herbalist (whom she asked for dollar store intel when I'd already told her about Dollarama and Dollar Tree) - where I saw testicles apparently for sale - and Staples where Mom got a bunch of clearance stuff. No, I didn't want any of that even if she wanted to buy it for herself.

Mom also wanted to pay for my one pack of 12 blue Z-Grip Pens (January 17, 2019- the last one on the shelf) which I was going to pay for myself at the cash register. Then she played the martyr about it when they weren't the cheap kind ("why don't you get some other kind..."), but eventually paid for them. The next stop was the Dollarama at Lansdowne, where Mom paid for one pair of reading glasses, then stopped by the Smart n'Save for some crunchy Wah Yuen BBQ fried dough. Mom also almost killed herself by crossing the street too slowly at Lansdowne Mall with oncoming traffic - shades of Grandma! Later, we got one more pair of reading glasses at Dollar Tree before they finally dropped me off at home at 1:10 prior to helping Ayler and Hiero with swimming lessons.


Random stuff from Mom and Dad: two pairs of dollar store reading glasses (2.50 and 2.75 - NEEDED: 3.00), a small pack of Cadbury mini-eggs from the dollar store, a 12-pack of Z-Grip pens which I was going to pay for myself since we were at Staples anyway, Every Living Thing by James Herriot, a thin beige scarf, an ORGANICS FOR LIFE tote bag, a blue neck scarf, a thin white scarf, a knitted white hat which looks like a doily, a knitted black and brown hat, a black buttoned SEQUENCE coat, and a thin sky blue zippered Tabi vest.


Pan-fried pork potstickers or wo-teep! Long Chinese dumplings!




Wah Yuen BBQ fried dough!




Touch toothpicks - 1000 regular ones! Mike almost stole them from me by keeping them at his mom's place in Point Grey because she supposedly needed them for a party appetizer in 2014! Thank goodness I took them back when we were there next time... phew!

Paulo let me know yesterday that he could come over tonight for noodles and ginger ale, which totally worked for me! Definitely no alcohol after last Friday for him, especially not with the stated effects on his body and liver! Today, he said he could come over around 8 unless that was too late - nope! He ended up taking a long nap and came over around 8:30 instead, but that was fine. Before I forgot, I asked him to take care of the wonky stove element wire. Thank goodness that he was able and willing to help! (and also to do his own dishes) I had cued up some relaxing FINAL FANTASY video game music, and we talked about that franchise / EARTHBOUND / MOTHER 3, MEGA MAN, DRAGON QUEST / DRAGON WARRIOR / instrumental music while cooking and eating noodles.

We talked about that smoke-filled ride from Chilliwack to Richmond in 2008 (starting off the summer of hell), Tinder bios, NO revenge porn, private things, Nissin black garlic oil noodles, the Samyang curry chicken terrorist noodles which ALMOST defeated him ("I'M DYING!" - I didn't care if he posted a photo of the bowl to Discord!), cigar / cigarette smoking, vaping, not judging Brian for his addiction or choice, Discord, Holly, Darryl being at a Metric concert, a Portland trip for Darryl and some others tomorrow, not interrupting stuff, Guu, Jeremy, and weird posts on my Facebook newsfeed. He definitely thanked me for having me over, the noodles, Ben and Jerry's peanut butter cookie dough ice cream as a chaser, Canada Dry ginger ale, two Pepto Bismol pills just in case he had an upset stomach later, and Gatorade bottle to take home at 11:30. We should do this again = all he has to do is let me know! At least he's more appreciative than SOME people...

Brian and Holly seemed to be making plans for $4 wings at Moxie's tonight, so in a moment of rare spontaneity, I decided to join them, Paulo, and Darryl. Turns out Jeremy and Jeff were invited too, but that was okay. I thought Brian was giving Paulo a ride too, but I guess not. At least he was willing to give me a ride through all the construction crap at about 6! After navigating through cul-de-sacs near Bridgeport, we finally found a way to Moxie's after he met me at the hospital entrance and talking about Pettersen / Quinn Hughes. Of course I had to wear my new red DRAGON HOODIE!

We found everyone except Paulo at the back patio, so we settled in on ordering wings. Of course I had to have some hot wings since it wasn't a share plate like last time! I got hot wings AND salt and pepper wings (which were dry, but that's okay), plus Brian offered a honey garlic wing to me, so I took it. We talked about cooking a Big Mac and Coke in a rice cooker (only in Japan), online people, the Rock's cheat day of a massive sushi meal, Instagram, Caesar salad, Paulo finally being able to make it, MAGIC: THE GATHERING, various meetups, cheap Costco food, other wings deals, sashimi, 7-11 food, getting a microwave from Craigslist, and our plans for the rest of the week.

Said bye personally to Darryl before going off with Brian and Paulo for a few minutes of air. We then talked about some personal stuff, not being able to tell if things were jokes or real invites, a need for a mental break being understandable, the brain telling us that things are false even when we try to convince others that they're real, and directions. Yes, I was thanked for listening - I like this! I got home at 8:55, which wasn't too bad at all.

After COFFEE TIME, Eric Ho called to confirm the time he was coming over to watch a lot of hockey, so I had to take a shower! I had the parking pass, bottled water, the Lindt caramel Easter eggs, Lindt Blueberries and Cream / Strawberries and Cream / Milk and White Spring Edition chocolate truffles, the Russell Stover praline chocolates assortment, the Laura Secord peanut-free chocolate assortment, and the Kit-Kat Senses hazelnut chocolate assortment ready for him in a huge Ziploc bag, plus smaller ones as appropriate. That was in a Price Smart plastic bag since I also had Ferrero Rocher hazelnut Easter eggs and Easter Egg Oreo cookies for him. Yes, of course we could have Deb's frozen Great Value All-Beef meat lasagna for dinner, plus a lot of snacks! I also got him to help open my eyedrops and buy me some heavy bottled water (a 24-pack for the rounded-down price of $5) while he was out anyway, and all I had to do was text him my Price Smart card number and address. Phew!

He got here at 3:25 and quickly settled in to watch some Blue Jays baseball. Yes, he definitely thanked me for all the stuff mentioned above! We talked about Korean LEAGUE OF LEGENDS players, always being online, Steph, the Habs and the playoffs, ARE YOU SHUTTING ME?, the Mi Goreng chips (which he thinks are "wicked"), Winnipeg Jets playing the Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators playing the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Canadian dollar falling. Also spoke on Jim Hughson, CBC After Hours (Markstrom / Josh Leivo / Tyler Seguin), Sportspage, Sportsnet Pacific, ownership, excitement, my being able to text him at any time for things like heavy bottled water, Facebook tagging (which he's cool with), my online hockey fan friends (don't remind me of Jimmy...), Quinn Hughes, April Fool's Day (ugh), and opening the living room window. I'm well aware that he thinks my apartment is too warm!

Conversed about the ENDLESS CONSTRUCTION ZONE and closures around here, Google, pay-per-view Canucks games, Hockey Night in Canada / Hockey Day in Canada, the Whitecaps soccer game and the origins of the Southsiders nickname, long-range planning for his birthday (a Thursday - he enjoyed hanging out with me and white Eric last year at Boston Pizza) and Christon's wedding at the Blundell Church / the nearby Kirin, and HOCKEYVILLE. Discussed my new Reddit friends, his lupus making him overheat easily (he's already transitioned to a Toronto Blue Jays T-shirt and wondered if my DRAGON HOODIE was too hot for me - NOPE!), the Korean BBQ chips, the Salsitas, his ranting, bumping into "whoever" (Mike - don't be so vague!), Trudeau, "injury time / stoppage time" in soccer (where they add on time to the game based on injury recovery time DURING the game - can't imagine that in hockey or football), the old days going to Nathan's basement, "ineptitude" being a "big word" for 9:35 at night, his doing the dishes, and his liking to hang out with me. The Canucks played the Stars at 7 tonight... the game went to overtime plus a shootout, and Vancouver won 3-2! At least Eric Ho could go home happy, but he didn't like that the shootout went so long because he has to work tomorrow.

I like these hangouts from the point of view of updated blogging and not having to wait till I go home to start. YAY! Now I just need to relax from constant talking and vagueness!

After COFFEE TIME, I discovered a TOILET TANK EMERGENCY! It wouldn't flush, which was NOT ideal because Chinese Eric is coming over tomorrow! Besides, I really didn't want to go across the street every time I needed to pee! So I bit the bullet and called Hester a few minutes later since I needed to leave at 2, who scolded me for not being perfectly polite and composed on the phone AND for not writing a note. Fuck off - I have to deal with YOUR limited English, and I don't have TIME to write a note to have you deal with the problem after the weekend! Eventually, I managed to communicate that the toilet flush wasn't working, and Ni came by within ten minutes and actually fixed the issues. In that time, Brian had already offered to come over - THIS is what my new friends do for me?! WOW! :D

I left at 2 on a 414 to see Rachel at the Caring Place. Then I went to Shoppers to buy a Stouffer's Saute Sensations Country Beef Pot Roast microwaveable meal, a President's Choice meat lasagna for a future hangout which is not tomorrow afternoon (expires on December 12), Ben and Jerry's Peanut Butter Cookie Dough / Chocolate Milk and Cookies ice cream, Breyers Delights ice cream in Vanilla Cupcake plus Creamy Chocolate, and President's Choice mango ice cream! Should be yummy!

After I FINALLY got a 401 after FOUR 408 Ironwood buses in a row and a 407 at Brighouse after waiting since 4:10, I went to the pharmacy next door to see if I could get my eyedrops prescription filled before they closed. Adam could do it right then, but I didn't have time to chat or to wait for the previous chatty customer to finish because I had frozen things in my bag, so I was in a rush by default! The instructions are the same, anyway. I got home at 4:45 and FINALLY shoved everything into the freezer, almost before the items started really melting! Good thing I can probably get Chinese Eric to help with opening the eyedrops tomorrow if I remember... so I put them on the table with the low-tech blue guestbook and everything else!

When I went out this morning to test the snow at 10 AM (and discover that Internet data was frozen on my phone), Megan from the eye clinic called me to say that I had a date for my other eye surgery: Wednesday, May 8! I called Barry AGAIN for the third time this week, and he said he couldn't drive me tomorrow since he was at the hospital with somebody. Very valid! I did tell him about the new surgery date and the February 27 eye clinic appointment, so we'll see on that one! Then again, IT'S SNOWING AGAIN IN RICHMOND! I might have to call and cancel the appointment tomorrow morning...

Also bought on-sale Pacari organic chocolate bars x6: Raw 100% Cacao (orange), Passion Fruit (yellow), 60% Cacao Esmeraldas (pink), Andean Rose (red), Lemongrass (green), Raw 70% Cacao (yellow-green) - $3 each for a 50g bar! Oh well...

I also got NEW on-sale Dare Cookie Dough Whippets which expire on October 30, NEW Oreo Chocolate and Peanut Butter Pie cookies which expire on February 27, 2019 / NEW Oreo Cookies Pistachio Creme Thins cookies which expire on December 2 for National Cookie Month in October, an orange replacement $2 MARTEX washcloth, Palmolive Oxy Power Degreaser dish detergent, Hilroy Press-It-Seal-It envelopes (both white and security envelopes), NEW on-sale Tic Tac Gum x3 (Fresh Mint / Spearmint / Watermelon), and NEW London Naturals Wild Orange plant-based all-purpose cleaner. Got home at 5:05 on a 407, and had lots of peace and quiet. I needed it to edit past entries, grab food photos from Google, and upload them! At least I remembered my banking access code properly so I could pay my Shaw and hydro bills here at the library!

I left at 10:30 on a 407 for Shoppers Drug Mart to get NESTEA iced tea, President's Choice Chicken Korma / General Tao / Butter Chicken microwaveable meals, and on-sale Campbell's mushroom soup x2. Got home at 10:55 on a 401: that bus efficiency is good for ANY day, never mind a Saturday! :D

I woke up to NO WATER PRESSURE AT ALL at 7:30 AM, with NO NOTICES about it! NOT ACCEPTABLE! I very politely called Hester at 8:45 AM, who said that it was an emergency for the whole building, and that it should be fixed then. I tested it out using both sinks and the toilet, and it seemed that way... PHEW! After I had COFFEE TIME, Barry picked me up at 11:50 and we went banking and to Price Smart. I bought NEW Bassili's Best shepherd's pie which expires in 2020, NEW Mott's Clamato Caesar Pickled Bean Caesar tomato juice, on-sale V8 tomato juice (CHILDHOOD MEMORIES!), an on-sale beef teriyaki bowl which expires tomorrow (hey, at least they had the good sense to discount it, unlike with the spicy pig ears last week...), Shin Ramyun BLACK noodles, Vedan spicy mushroom noodles, on-sale Ben & Jerry's ice cream x6 (Cherry Garcia / Chocolate Fudge Brownie / Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough / Chocolate Therapy / If I Had 1,000,000 Flavors / Half-Baked), CLR for the kitchen (beats going to the bathroom for it every single time...), and JOY dumplings x4.

Also bought Nongshim Korean claypot miso ramyun noodles, on-sale NEW Lemon-Lime Gatorade x6, on-sale Western Family perogies x2 (potatoes and cottage cheese / potatoes and cheddar cheese), NEW on-sale Western Family vanilla Greek yogurt, on-sale Kozy Shack tapioca pudding, NEW Late July mild Green Mojo tortilla chips, on-sale Silk almond milk, NEW Hua Diao Chinese cooking wine noodle soup, replacement Club House coarse grind black pepper (I'm not sure how old the current one is...), NEW Sichuan Bahia broad vermicelli chili oil noodles, NEW Shirakiku Goku-Uma ramen noodles, and more! I got that guy Ray as my cashier - nice! After that, I paid my Shaw bill online at home.

We're not members of [livejournal.com profile] _commentwhores, so no worries there. If you want to help us reach that comment limit on this post, go ahead! (I thought of not allowing anyone else to comment, but that didn't promote a spirit of togetherness)

It will be interesting to see how long this takes, so the post will be dated. Whoever first leaves a comment, please date it. If we ever get to 5000 on the post, date the last one if you remember!
