It's National Punctuation Day today... MY FAVORITE! After COFFEE TIME, I had to leave at 2 on a 401 and then a 410 (which I just got to on time, no thanks to idiots blocking my path on the sidewalk) for my appointment with Dr. Ruby before I helped with the kids. That was uncomfortable - I also saw a professional Audrey. Also, I had to buy more NEW Beehive Burst Peppermint lip balm at the Dollar Tree since there was no photo online that I could find, so I had to take my own photo. (I had ripped mine open last week before I figured this out...) I was there on time, but STILL had to wait 20 minutes to be seen! UGH! I should have gone to Dollar Tree before rather than after! Then I tried to speedwalk over to Lansdowne station a block and a half away, and just missed a Waterfront train thanks to these two slow ladies on the elevator going down.

When I got to Marine Drive station, I definitely needed a snack, so I went to Tim Horton's. Luckily, there was no lineup, so I got a non-sticky cheese tea biscuit and then got out of there to find that a wheelchair wanted to get on the 3 as well. Then a stroller wanted to get on - at least this one contained a fairly curious kid who growled and made various noises, unlike the other stroller who got on after that one left! After another delay caused by the driver stopping in the middle of the road for five minutes to check an alarm that was going off, I finally got to Mount Pleasant at about 4:20 when I could have been there at 4:05! Too many delays! Yeah, I used Term to complain to via text, haha.

Inside, Penny was just finishing up speech therapy while Beckett was failing at napping again. Almost right after Penny left, it was off to the park across the street because Harmony wanted to walk Beckett around the playground to see if he'd nap then. Spoiler alert: He did not. Ayler asked if I wanted to play tag or Manhunt - no, because I had run out of energy and was like a car which had run out of gas. Hiero asked why I walked how I did, so maybe Jon and Harmony should talk to him about it at some point. Once we got home again after more promises of consequences, I got to play with Beckett for a bit. He liked the baby pop-up toy because it made him laugh more than usual, wanted me to shake my head a lot because it was funny, liked PEEK-A-BOO as per Hiero, tried eating my DRAGON HOODIE strings again, and climbed on me a few times. (he did pull Hiero's hair, though!)

At the same time, Hiero was trying to show me his origami. Blowing up squares to make huge boxes, oh my! Later, I stayed close as Beckett crawled on the couch despite Ayler telling me not to let him do it. Well, you're doing and completing a HUGE connect-the-dots puzzle, so I'll do what I want while keeping Beckett safe in my own way, including trying to put on one of his missing socks. We had salmon, congee, Chinese chicken soup, meatballs with ketchup and barbecue sauce, some veggies, and ridiculous amounts of shredded pork. Then we talked about whether Jon had been shot today at the Downtown Eastside (he was fine and didn't have to lie on the floor as per Hiero's question), why people shoot at each other ("because some people think that the best way to resolve their problems is with guns" and "that's why we don't joke about guns"), my Cactus Club birthday dinner, Ayler seeing Brooke early this morning ("how do you know?"), Hiero doing flips and gymnastics in the elevator earlier and being injured, and how much everyone in the family could eat compared to each other.

After I washed dishes for a bit, I read to Hiero about Optimus Prime and the Decepticons, then listened to Ayler play a boogie on the piano before listening to him read a Level 2 story about polar bears. Sure I had to help him with some words, but that's normal. I left at 7:20, but couldn't get a 3 bus till 7:40 thanks to a couple of buses being out of service! I missed a Brighouse train by five minutes, and JUST managed to get a 407 at Brighouse, no thanks to people blocking my path where I was going to run to the front door of the bus. Do I really have to shove my way past other people all the time to get where I'm going in a timely fashion?! I got home at 8:35, checked my mail, and found Julie's birthday card plus random stuff - yay!


Random stuff: Nathan returning the OUTLANDER novel to me, six packs of Compliments Safeway brand spicy chicken instant noodles, and yet another pair of reading glasses. Good thing I didn't buy the Jergens lotion today because of all the walking I had to do, AND the utter weight of the 650-page paperback book!

After I had DOUBLE COFFEE TIME, the handyman came by at 11:30 to install the brand-new toilet float valve - YES! I don't care if it takes 90 seconds to fully refill the toilet (tank) now, because at least it works! Better than Hester lecturing me about "flush the toilet tenderly and not with a boom boom boom"... whatever THAT means!

Barry picked me up at 12 and we went banking and to Price Smart. I got All-Dressed / Salt and Vinegar / BBQ / Ranch Crispers, on-sale Silk almond milk / chocolate milk, JOY dumplings x5, Dare Foods Limited chocolate cookie chips, on-sale Cottonelle toilet paper x2, Campbell's mushroom soup x5, NEW Miss Vickie's Signatures chips (Hickory Smoked Salt), on-sale Stouffer's microwaveable meals x2 (Chicken Alfredo / Homestyle Pot Roast), and on-sale Western Family frozen vegetables.

Also bought an on-sale Gizella Pastry assorted cheesecake (mango / New York / strawberry / blueberry), Western Family dill pickle chips, Western Family ripple chips, mini Chantilly Choux cream puffs (POPPIES!), NEW Activia strawberry / vanilla / peach yogurts, and NEW on-sale Ben and Jerry's Salted Caramel Almond ice cream. After that, I paid my Shaw and hydro bills online when I got home at 1:15. EARLY! I also managed to go to the dumpster and throw out the light Sunbeam toaster oven which I haven't used for the year I've had it, AND was taking up counter space in the kitchen. Suck on THAT, Hester! :P

Then I went to London Drugs at 7:05 on a 401 to get NEW on-sale Hazelnut M and Ms, on-sale Almond M and Ms, a green tea Kit Kat, NEW Cadbury Curly Wurly chocolate, on-sale Häagen-Dazs coffee ice cream, and 400 Mead index cards before returning home on the same 401 at 7:25. The bus driver said that I'd been fast - yes, I like bus efficiency AND ice cream not melting when it's humid outside! When I got in, my phone "ding=donged" at me - turned out to be Corey on LINE. I can live with that, haha!

I had a banana-chocolate muffin, cut strawberries, and coffee for breakfast. Lunch was some leftovers including butter chicken. Dinner: Thai eggplant curry with peppers and bamboo, rice, naan bread, plus Tillamook Malted Moo ice cream! We watched some stuff on Netflix and generally had a chill evening with crafts and reading.

I went in for surgery on my other eye today when Barry picked me up at 9:20. I'm glad that Brian showed up in time to give me a ride home at 2:30. He was perfectly fine, asking me eight times whether I was okay, how I was feeling, whether I needed a drink or painkillers, etc. Looking at my phone right afterwards was not productive. The sun was bright, but he let me know about the step down to the car. Got home at 3:50 (TEN MINUTES AFTER MOM AND DAD WANTED TO PICK ME UP AFTER AYLER'S SCHOOL PICKUP!) and almost immediately took a nap from the anesthetic. I had some soup as the nurses recommended, then Deb called at 6:10. Sure, I'd be ready pretty soon, and didn't need Dylan to pick me up later. Tomorrow's followup at the eye clinic is at 9 AM - yikes!

The soup prepared me for a dinner of adobo with rice, half a kiwi, GREAT VALUE tandoori chips, and fish congee with shredded pork and peanuts. Declan and Elysse demonstrated the FORTNITE floss dance to me at dinner, hahaha. At 7:15, I decided to check my text messages BEFORE the phone keyboard letters turned to curlicues at the ends, and could barely decipher one which Barry - of all the people - had sent. I got Declan to help read it and reply with "Francis," telling him how to spell the word. No, I was not thinking of giving Barry extra info pre-surgery; he should be happy I was able to call him at ALL! Elysse gave me spontaneous hugs, which is fine. I finally gave the kids those HATCHIMAL and MINECRAFT stickers I'd seen at the Richmond Centre dollar store months ago, and they seemed to like them a lot. I will sleep downstairs on the sofa bed.

My several years in the word game have learnt me several rules:

1. Avoid alliteration. Always.
2. Prepositions are not words to end sentences with.
3. Avoid clichés like the plague. (They're old hat.)
4. Employ the vernacular.
5. Eschew ampersands & abbreviations, etc.
6. Parenthetical remarks (however relevant) are unnecessary.
7. It is wrong to ever split an infinitive.
8. Contractions aren't necessary.
9. Foreign words and phrases are not apropos.
10. One should never generalize.
11. Eliminate quotations. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said: "I hate quotations. Tell me what you know."
12. Comparisons are as bad as clichés.
13. Don't be redundant; don't use more words than necessary; it's highly superfluous.
14. Profanity sucks.
15. Be more or less specific.
16. Understatement is always best.
17. Exaggeration is a billion times worse than understatement.
18. One-word sentences? Eliminate.
19. Analogies in writing are like feathers on a snake.
20. The passive voice is to be avoided.
21. Go around the barn at high noon to avoid colloquialisms.
22. Even if a mixed metaphor sings, it should be derailed.

Yesterday, Holly invited me to Steveston Pizza at her place tonight. Nobody was going to have the $850 pizza! ("SEENAY: Medley of tiger prawns, lobster ratatouille, smoked steelhead, Russian Osetra caviar, snowed with Italian white truffles $850") After I showered and had COFFEE TIME, Brian kindly picked me up at the hospital at 7:10 even though the pizza place was way closer to his apartment. We chatted about the expensive pizza (a MOUND of seafood on the order before his?!) and the NHL Draft Pick Lottery Day before getting to Holly's, where I unsuccessfully completed a call to her. She wanted to throw her keys down to us again, but actually answered the door instead once she realized Brian had five pizza boxes.

I said hey to Darryl and Paulo, informing Paulo that the temporary crosswalk was now closed off. He put his head in his hands and said, "I hate it..." Trust me, I understand ANY ranting he has to do on the issue! We all talked about life, Vegas, walking a lot on the LONG Strip blocks, online people, chatrooms, drunkenness, dodgy stuff, seeing family members, work schedules, Holly's new job starting tomorrow, dead people, being a travel agent, working with the general public, and upcoming plans. As usual, I have none. I did almost forget my jacket, oops. Darryl called me by name when we said bye to him outside, which shouldn't really be a surprise. Brian dropped me and Paulo off at about 9:40, which is pretty good. I actually have time to blog without being rushed off to do other things!

Shiv let me know on Discord that he got my Christmas card and postcards, and he even said that the postcards were lovely. So much better than a certain other person (Jimmy), although I don't expect much out of him nowadays.


It took me 56 hours and 30 minutes BEFORE battling Kefka as the Dark Cloud (plus all the ending cutscenes) in FINAL FANTASY VI: THE ETERNAL CRYSTALS!

Sean Slaney from Ferris and Palmer found me on Facebook - probably from Lisa B. - and added me. We also briefly chatted on FB messenger, which is nice. No, I never went to Burnett for regular school, but probably for Chinese School 30 years ago! John Powell asked if I wanted to meet him and Eve after the game - I think I might be able to deal with snow showers, so I guess that would be fine! HOT CHOCOLATE AND COFFEE! Time to stash a scarf and mittens in my bag for the next four or five months!


The FINAL FANTASY VI: THE ETERNAL CRYSTALS party is in Kefka's Tower, where they have to split up to conquer the dungeon together. They need to step on the circled green button to open up the path for other people, as shown. Bonus: They get a Ribbon from that treasure chest!

In FINAL FANTASY VI, you can get an item called the Cursed Shield. The original game allows you to equip it on multiple characters, but the ETERNAL CRYSTALS hack only allows you to equip it on Cyan. Either way, you have to fight 256 battles with it equipped (and have your character SURVIVE!) to lift the curse: "Dispelled curse on shield." Your Cursed Shield is now a Paladin Shield. :D

This is the complete bestiary for FINAL FANTASY 5 SPOOF, and all screenshots are from my own playthrough. I'd like to say that this GameFAQs bestiary document helped me a lot; thank you! (as did this one, for more precise directions in certain places) Also, this walkthrough helped me a lot, too! Actually, I was tired of suffering through emulator slowness and game glitches x8, so input a code for a 100% complete Bestiary. These maps will help, since the world map DOESN'T FUCKING WORK IN THIS GAME!

This is a good RPG Classics page for Pro Action Replay codes!

CHECK THE MAP WITH THE Y BUTTON, NOT THE R BUTTON!

Fire-Powered Ship puzzle directions.


Notes to self: Activate the All Characters Have All Abilities code, and then TAKE IT OFF, or else the game will get incredibly frustratingly SLOW. Also, take all codes off before going to the Big Bridge, or attempting to find the Phantom Village! VISHNU VEST EQUIPMENT! Speaking of equipment, EQUIP KRILE WHEN SHE JOINS THE PARTY AFTER GALUF'S DEATH! As far as codes go, the "have 99 of all items" code makes the game freeze and have sound issues!

After much frustration over three hours, I managed to defeat Omega by using the power of Mirage Vests (IMAGE STATUS) / Coral Rings (fire protection), and a pre-emptive strike! I used it to power up my blades with Thundaga Spellblade, then used Rapid-Fire on Faris... I think it was a fluke!

Also, to reset the breath timer in the sunken tower of Walse, climb up the fourth floor vine to get to that chest! I finally actually defeated Famed Mimic Gogo at the bottom of the sunken Tower of Walse by using the Dragoon / Dual-Wield x4 strategy! It was pretty tricky since I wasn't sure that all my characters would survive at least five Meteor attacks, but two of them did! Got garbled text as part of the bugged fight, too... "Dragged into another dimension! Odin: All right, that's far enough! Turning to stone... Can't escape! Countdown to Pestilence... 4 KO'd! Countdown to Eruption... 5 KO'd! Level halved! KO'd!":D

To get the Drakenvale Golem in the Bestiary, defeat the dragons first and THEN defend until he thanks you!

Stick "READ AHEAD" on a character other than Lenna! To prevent having to input all the codes over and over again, SAVE / remove all codes / then close and reopen the emulator! They should all still be there!

For the Moogle in the Forest of Moore to move after the trees have been set on fire by Tzepish, save the game in the cave and then reset. The creature should NOT be blocking the entrance.

Airship in World 3: It's just above Surgate Castle, east of the Pyramid.

DO NOT SET ANY "No Random Encounters" CODE! IT WILL GLITCH OUT THE GAME! (submarine / world map won't work, and there WILL be no random encounters)

TRY DEFEATING NEO SHINRYU FIRST BEFORE OMEGA MK. II - or else you can't get out of the room for some reason! (the exit door SHOULD be open, but is shut tight instead!)

After a few attempts, I finally got through to Dr. Ruby's office at 10:15 to make an appointment. I didn't care if they were kinda fully booked today. I got one at 3:20, so that worked for me after I took a shower. Wilf Charest added me via my Fearsome Canucks Fans group, too! Since I just managed to get the 407 at 2:45, I was at Lansdowne extra early, so I hit up the Dollar Tree for Tasty Kitchen chicken noodle soup x5. Then I went to Big Crazy for some Paldo Rabokki Korean spicy noodles, Penang Red Curry noodles, and Knorr extra hot and soup mixes x2. At Dr. Ruby's office, she said I should get Dimetapp DM (which the store was out of), do some saltwater gargling (which you can't overdose on!), and white minty Halls.

After that, I went to London Drugs to do just that. (the white minty Halls was on sale!) The pharmacist helped me find some Benylin which expires in February 2019. On the way home on the 407, some entitled old man said that I was hitting him in the face with my bag, so I spoke up and said that he was an entitled old man. No, the bus announcements are NOT for me, and the bus driver was telling some other girl to put her suitcase up in the bag area instead! If my bag was really in his face (it was KNEE-HEIGHT at best), then I could have "accidentally" hit him with my cans of soup! I finally got home at 5:15 - PHEW! Then I banned a couple of people from Fearsome because they thought I was on an admin power trip. Not even!

Today is Left-Handers Day! I had to deal with a lot of online drama this morning, which involved some rude and condescending Penguins fan named Jennifer who thought that she had an IQ of 169, and that my "attitude problem" could be solved by talking to her. I don't THINK so! Thank goodness Helen Y. understood, while Jimmy could definitely relate, and Tommy was okay with people leaving that Metropolis Division group chat on Facebook. Hopefully, Jimmy and I can forge more of a friendship! I think it's a good sign that he says he trusts me (gotta make sure that stays) and wants me to speak my mind / anything to him. I'll just take this friendship slowly, as per usual.

In FINAL FANTASY VI: THE ETERNAL CRYSTALS, the party finally makes it to the Ancient Castle dungeon. They find Queen Yunalesca's Diary in a room to the right of the throne! "A book, with a gem-encrusted cover... Queen Yunalesca's Diary."




In the GBA version of FINAL FANTASY VI, the diary is simply "The Queen's Diary." It says, "The Queen's Diary... I have fallen in love with Odin. It is a forbidden love, I know... But the flames of passion obey not rule or reason..."




In the SNES version of FINAL FANTASY VI, the diary is even more simple: "Queen's Diary."




This is from the SNES version: If Terra is in the FINAL FANTASY VI party at this point, she will have something to say after everyone reads the Queen's Diary. "Love between a human and an Esper..." Yes, that is her defining character trait!

It was COFFEE TIME BY DEFAULT at 7:30 AM this morning. After finding mouse droppings in the kitchen and looking things up online, I went to London Drugs at 10:20 on a 407. Unfortunately, there was an older lady at the bus stop who thought that I wanted to be the recipient of endless talking about when the next bus would get there. I gave her the eminently unhelpful answer of "no" when asked for the time, and an equally unhelpful answer of "five minutes ago" when asked if and when I left my house, hahaha. I also don't flip off drivers THAT often, but WHY WOULD YOU DRIVE INTO A PEDESTRIAN'S PATH WHEN THEY'RE TRYING TO CROSS AT AN UNMARKED CROSSWALK?! Once I finally got to the store, I got index cards / two on-sale jugs of bleach / some zebra duct tape. Then I got home at 10:55 on a 401 and started cleaning / disinfecting / putting duct tape and steel wool in the kitchen.

I had to take out ANOTHER dead mouse on a glue trap last night at 10 PM - UGH! Yes, I definitely had to have some whiskey after that!

It's Air Conditioning Day and WORLD OYSTER DAY today, so of course I definitely had to have my two pounds of Fanny Bay raw oysters! :D


The FINAL FANTASY VI: THE ETERNAL CRYSTALS party comes to the last room of Umaro's Cave with the Magitek Armor and this soldier. He turns out to be Biggs from the beginning of the game, and tells them: "I've failed as a soldier..." Time to teleport out of the dungeon, and bring Emperor Zemus with us instead!




Emperor Zemus comes with the FINAL FANTASY VI: THE ETERNAL CRYSTALS party inside Umaro's Cave, and orders Biggs to join them because he was the emperor. This time, Soldier Biggs says: "Lieutenant Biggs... Reporting, sir! Yes, sir... I'll join you!"

Since I woke up at 7:30 AM, it was COFFEE TIME BY DEFAULT! Hester's husband Ni and a suite inspector guy came by later at 10:35 for the annual suite inspection. I got the suite inspector guy (who said that the sink was losing its shine - DUH?!) to help me remove that dead mouse on the glue trap behind the couch. No, he was not allowed to put it in the kitchen garbage can! I had readied a London Drugs plastic bag (and rubber gloves if needed) for that purpose earlier! Ni said again that the pest control would come by next month, so I called him on that. Apparently, he'd forgotten that it was now August. Still, I shouldn't have to live with that for weeks! I went out to throw the London Drugs plastic bag in the dumpster outside, then liberally applied white vinegar to that area of the carpet. I don't care what the management thinks about a temporary wet floor!

The FINAL FANTASY VI: THE ETERNAL CRYSTALS party finally survives the nerve-wracking cave inside the Zone Eater's belly on Triangle Island! It had all the jumping puzzles with annoying green guys pushing them off and blocking their way. Instead of Gogo, they find Emperor Zemus in the last room of the cave! Can they trust him to be an additional party member? He says that he didn't know that Kefka was the Dark Cloud...

I showered and did laundry today, a day earlier than I might have! However, I had to wipe a very watery bathroom floor with a mop and multiple (paper) towels, then had to do TWO loads of laundry on the THIRD floor, where one of the dryers was out of order! What stressful stramash! AIYA! I finally finished all the laundry just now at 7:30!

Last night, I finally finished the tiny sample size bottle of Crown Royal 90% rye whiskey that I got on April 18! You bet I'm keeping this bottle, too! Tonight, I found 24/7 Youtube streams of AMERICAN DAD and FAMILY GUY, so of course I watched some of that!


There's a Willow Grove (Pennsylvania) landscaper named James Brown?! Bonus points: He refers to himself as James Brown, the Godfather of Soil.

Since I got up at 7:25 AM, it was COFFEE TIME! Later, I called Seafair Safeway customer service to see if I could return Oakridge Safeway items there instead. Since I could, I made plans to go there to return the Tostitos / Mrs. Renfro's salsa since I can't open it even with the jar opener! Before going out at 12:30, I called Chrystal at work to confirm things for tomorrow since I didn't want to waste a shower later, and we are on! At Seafair, they gave me grief about not specifying the brand and type of salsa since they didn't sell the Ghost Pepper there, so they'd have to throw it out. That's not my problem if I just want to return it - and no, I was not going back to the Oakridge Safeway!

When I got on the 402 back to Brighouse, I was surprised when someone called my name. It turned out that Uncle Peter and Auntie Ying were on that bus, having come from a massage and then doing some shopping later! So of course I talked to them all the way to Brighouse! I browsed Shoppers briefly, then bought Heluva Good dip (French Onion / Dill Pickle) which has a limited shelf life but is WAY EASIER to open, Welch's prune juice (which I could open WITHOUT the jar opener for now), NEW Tasty Bite Thai Lime rice, NEW Tasty Bite Thai Penang Ginger Curry sauce, and a dark blue GOODY toothbrush holder at London Drugs before getting home at 2:40 on a 407 in the rainy weather.
