MORE COFFEE TIME! IT IS LEAP YEAR 2020 TODAY! The Canucks played the Leafs today at 4, and lost 4-2... DAMN EMPTY-NET GOALS AND MY BIRTHDAY BUDDY AUSTON MATTHEWS! Eric Ho confirmed yesterday via text that he was coming over, and also called me at 12:10 to iron out some details, so YAY! I got him to pick up a 24-pack of Nestlé Pure Life bottled water from Price Smart on the way since I was running out. He got here at 2:15, so that was good. We talked about the parking pass / my spare keys, the skyrocketing coronavirus news, Nathan being overseas right now, the 2001 version of THE MUMMY RETURNS with Brendan Fraser, Jeremy, washing hands, my Ontario trip, the bacon quiche / Reser's mashed potatoes / meat lasagna / macaroni and cheese / Peanut Butter Pie Oreos / Mackie's Crispy Bacon chips / Mackie's haggis and cracked black pepper chips, the Lindt / Nutter Butter I gave him in a Ziploc bag, and David Ayres the Zamboni driver. He also called "coronavirus" SARS, and called the Alcan aluminum foil "cling wrap - you know what I mean." Not really or not at first, but he's still a good friend of mine!

Also discussed Jann Arden / a halftime show, 2011 and the Boston Pizza name change, HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA, my slipper socks / high heels bag / Boston Pizza gift card from Ruth and Joan, Carey Price / Patrick Roy (possible) trades / the trade deadline activity on Monday, ICBC driver premiums and car insurance, whether I caught any of Sedin Week, and the 9-3 Boston Bruins blowout the other night. Conversed about his smelling my hot sauce, the playoffs, Jim Hughson, his not preferring to drive during sunset / twilight hours, a cow in a plane for a THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR movie scene with Jet Li, and Don Cherry's podcast / being fired, the Juno Awards, the Simpsons controversy, Apu, and Krusty the Clown before he left at 6:40 after a disappointing Leap Day / Leap Year LOSS! DAMN EMPTY-NETTERS! Sure, I'll collect my empty bottles for him to redeem somewhere if he offered! Of course he did the dishes WITHOUT COMPLAINING!

I had to spend MORE time out and MORE MONEY today at Richmond Centre because of ANOTHER temporary water shutoff. *rolleyes* Good thing I had plenty of cash! I bought a White Spot breakfast quesadilla with chorizo sausage, a White Spot blueberry milkshake that slightly tasted like cough syrup (what are they doing with those machines overnight?!), NEW on-sale OGX Beauty tea tree / mint shampoo and conditioner, on-sale Dove pomegranate shampoo and conditioner from $8.99 to $2.99, NEW Life iron pill supplements, NEW Jamieson Vitamins garlic softgels, and NEW Irish Spring charcoal body wash. Shoppers and London Drugs both worked! Got home at 5:40 on a 407 (was NOT going to call Hester because of the one-word and hangup I received LAST YEAR), and the water was back on, so I could take a shower for tomorrow!

I finally left that V4F Discord server run by cliquey millennials with double standards for the original members vs. people who joined later, because the "mod" SJ and a person with "just his opinions on your food photos and presentation" (KPOP) HAVE PISSED OFF THE WRONG PERSON! I am the FIRE DRAGON! "Vancouver for friends," my ass! Violet / Faith put me in touch with the server owner - after a brief conversation with Divine Sword, he isn't going to do anything about it because I was snarky as well. Uh yeah, of course I was.

Mom also sent me a WhatsApp message asking whether I said thank you to Eric for his Sunday ride. First of all, he was going to UBC anyway for hockey! Secondly, what's the more reasonable assumption: I did, or I didn't?! I don't need to be treated like a child! Fuck this shit. That's why I ignore her. She also asked whether I said thank you to Harmony's parents - I ignored that, too.

After I had COFFEE TIME, Barry picked me up at 12:35 and we went banking and to Price Smart. I got NEW on-sale Wei Chuan dumplings (Pork / Green Onion, Pork / Leek / Shrimp, Beef / Green Onion), NEW Edo spicy noodles, bananas, Joyya unfiltered chocolate milk, on-sale Western Family spiced apple cider, on-sale Western Family juices (pineapple / regular apple / pure apple / mango / grape / mixed berry / orange), and NEW Japanese matcha green tea Kit-Kats. I also got Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie Oreos for National Pie Day and National Peanut Butter Day today, Sour Cream and Onion Goldfish crackers, NEW Nando's Peri-Peri sauce, Mentos Fresh Mint / Cherry Mint / Spearmint gum x3, on-sale Earth's Own almond milk, on-sale Lysol 110-pack wipes x2, on-sale Cottonelle toilet paper x2 (almost half-price), Stouffer's Sauté Sensations meals x4, on-sale sushi roll D ($2 off because it expires tomorrow), on-sale shredded Soo Keta wild Pacific salmon, and Shirakiku prepared hot shredded squid. Later, I paid my Shaw bill online at home. I had to use my NG lungpower 12 times today on millennial phone zombies, oblivious Asians, and people with no spatial awareness who blocked my way in aisles or otherwise - they weren't even looking around / for things! I just said "EXCUSE ME!" since I had no patience for anything else! Saw Chris Noble at the store, who seems more out of it than he did 20 years ago, but at least I said HEY to Ray.

After COFFEE TIME, I went out at 2:50 on a 401 to help with the kids. I would have taken the earlier 401, but someone took FIVE MINUTES to maneuver a wheelchair into that bus! I don't expect people to be extremely fast when it comes to that, but I always appreciate the actual wheelchair users who are fast and efficient movers when they see others are waiting! (she was... not, and held up everyone else) There went any extra time I had to buy lotion and dish soap at Shoppers! At Marine Drive, I actually managed to get a 3 within a few minutes, which was amazing! No incessant talker today, thank goodness. Finally got to the apartment at about 4:10 in the rain, and Beckett was sitting on the mat and waiting for me - so cute! I gave the kids some Mars bars and Coffin Crisp plus a Christmas card later on. Hiero confused a CARD for a CAR, asking me where the Christmas CAR was, hahaha! Harmony set him straight, though. (my phone had randomly saved photos of Beckett eating out of a pot earlier, hahaha)

Ayler and Hiero did origami / cut-out snowflake crafts at the table after one too many "no scissors on the ground" directives that got ignored, so Beckett and I spent our time rolling balls to each other / being distracted by "boh-boh" (the bling on my white sweater AND the pom-pom on my Santa hat, which he batted around at times) / "reading" books while sitting on my lap (he picked up "yummy" from me!) / his giving me his blocks and balls and emotion eggs / his saying "yeah" to my simple questions of whether HE would get the balls instead of me (but he didn't) / his knowing where my fuzzy purple winter coat was with all the big buttons. Harmony said that balls were his very favorite thing in the whole wide world, which I can believe! (LOTS OF ALLITERATION!) She'd taken him across the street since there was a Christmas tree with lots of ornaments, and he'd loved seeing all the "boh-boh!" He also wanted to look out the window, but was stymied by the Venetian blind being down, and thus blocking his view. His other window was blocked off by chairs and couches, but he managed to throw balls in that restricted area, which I of course got out for him.

We had pork and mushroom jong (sticky rice) with garlic, cherry tomatoes, gai lan, and water for dinner. Beckett actually ate more than usual, but Harmony thought that was down to the sticky rice, some of which did fall in his bib, but luckily did not smear or smudge on my Heat Holders socks! Ayler told me that he had a Christmas concert next week, and a winter party because his class had received a lot of points to go towards one. NICE! I asked if he was going to have ornaments, but he says no because it's not Christmas. That made sense, I told him. After they learned about butterflies and cocoons and the chrysalis, Ayler wanted to hug me! I said that he could hug me, paused, and added "only if you want to." He did! That was amazing!

Ayler and Hiero didn't like it when Beckett climbed on them, but he's so light! While Harmony was out of the room for a bit, Ayler told me that he gets screen time at school (as does Hiero), and his mom doesn't like it. I had to laugh, since I could see this coming years ago! When I left the apartment at 7:50 (so late!), Harmony said that Beckett had called me "Attie," and he called me that again while pointing to me. HE KNOWS WHO I AM AND WHAT MY NAME IS - SO CUTE!Hiero told me seriously that his school friend knows Punjabi and she wanted to teach him some language skills - good for them! Harmony wanted to know if I could come on Friday the 13th, so I said yes. As it turned out, I hope fervently that I used up ALL my "bad luck" tonight - I kept on missing trains and buses galore! EVERY SINGLE ONE! I got home at 10, which is pretty fucking late!

After COFFEE TIME and calling the Lost Property Office too early for them to receive lost Translink items at 1 (UGH!), I went out at 11:10 on a 401 to go to the Gloucester Café to meet Auntie Catherine for my last belated birthday meal, taking the 15 Olympic Village bus down at Bay 2 across the street rather than walk the seven blocks in the iffy weather. So I was ten minutes late - it still was reasonably on time for me! I scanned the restaurant and finally saw her sitting at a table - she hugged me hello, and we eventually ordered two dishes to share with our individual hot milk tea. Seafood spaghetti in a creamy dill sauce AND chicken pineapple satay fried rice with plenty of shrimp and egg! No, I didn't want to take the leftovers with me!

She talked about church and noticed that I didn't need my glasses, so she was surprised - she didn't know about my eye surgeries! We talked about Mattias and Marcus - they're 11 and 9 now?! Chung Yan still watches Canucks hockey, so YAY for that! Auntie Catherine gave me a surprise 100% red silk scarf (probably an Indian scarf), so that was totally good! It was pretty rainy when we left at 1:20 (Harmony texted to say I could come at 3:30 or so), but I assured her that I'd be fine without an umbrella, and definitely didn't want to go to the North Shore or some other Vancouver Public Library! I just killed time at Oakridge with the free wifi, found out that I'd been BANNED from TwoX Chromosomes because of the too-inclusive special snowflakes ("not all women have vaginas" is very weird), and left at 3 on a 41st Avenue bus (then a 3) to get to the house at 3:35.

Beckett was surprisingly awake and definitely wanted to play with me, the baby pop-up toy (he's now strong enough to make it pop up himself once or twice), and the various balloons scattered around the room. He also threw the plastic blocks at me, but I didn't hold it against him. Hiero laughed when he saw that, so I said with a very serious face that it was NOT FUNNY, and let Harmony take care of the rest. Ayler had to read the Monkeys book with me, and Hiero wanted me to read a book that was at least different than the ones I'd read on Sunday. Beckett wanted to see what we were doing / be close to me, but his brothers didn't like that. I had to give him a few hugs because he was upset! I let Ayler use my cell phone calculator after he said that I was still better at math than he is (debatable) and Beckett said, "Na na na NAAAAAAAAA!", which is what he says when he REALLY wants something! (like the Rice Krispies, a couple of which I put in his mouth at snacktime, which he didn't seem to mind)

Speaking of being serious, Beckett had an extremely serious expression on his face when he was signing "MORE" at dinner. He did get more food, but started throwing it around, even decorating my red bling sweater with macaroni and cheese. (we also had squash, turkey, stuffing, and other Thanksgiving leftovers) Ayler asked me why drinking prune juice meant that you had to be on the toilet all afternoon (because I told him that), so I told him that there was a lot of fiber in prunes. He seemed to accept that. After Beckett cried and was let go from the table to crawl around, he knocked over Ayler's silver water cup, causing Ayler to get all wet and then cry and melt down himself.

Beckett threw the balloons around and said what sounded like "cup" - at least, he had the hard C sound down! Ayler wanted to regale me with piano technique, so I let him tell me about it while listening very seriously. I enjoy it when he tells me about his interests! Hiero wanted me to read to him, but I said that I had to watch Beckett to make sure he didn't kill himself. We also discussed global warming in a kid-appropriate way. I left at 7:20 and finally got home at 8:40. The Canucks played Detroit tonight at 7, and won 5-1.

Today is National Dumpling Day! I called Chrystal at work at 11:40 to see if we were still on for tomorrow's Birthday Dinner #3, and WE ARE! The Canucks played Arizona tonight at 7 in Preseason Game #8 (the last one!), and lost 3-2. Deb said that they could take me out to Korean food tomorrow night, but I'm not free due to the aforementioned plans. Next week on the 4th sounds fine, especially since it's a non-hockey night! I also banned someone from the Fearsome hockey group for typing in very mangled English (it would just annoy me even more throughout the year), and making every comment into some kind of slam freeform poetry.

9/15/19 is also a palindrome date! I looked up Uncle John's Truth, Trivia, and the Pursuit of Factiness Bathroom Reader (Bathroom Readers Institute) online, and after getting an error message on the Indigo website search, I managed to find it on the site! Then I looked up the Richmond Chapters number, and also managed to put it on hold for me since I was going out to the mall later anyhow - YAY! After COFFEE TIME, I went out at 4:10 on a 407 to meet the family for dinner at the Richmond Centre White Spot. In addition to the Bathroom Reader, I also picked up Ripley's Believe It Or Not! Beyond The Bizarre 16th Annual (Ripley's Believe it Or Not) up since it was just $15. Yeah, it made my bag moderately heavier, but I could handle it. Since I was at Shoppers anyway to prove to Highspirits that a LOT of Nature Valley bars here (his favorite!) were CRUNCHY and you needed a bowl to eat them, I bought the three chewy kinds I could find. Bonus: They were ON SALE! Fruit and Nut, Dark Chocolate, and Mixed Berry!

Thank goodness the mall and White Spot had wi-fi since everyone was LATE! Harmony wondered what I was doing with my phone after she got back from buying clothes at The Children's Place, so I assured her that I wasn't saying anything about the kids on Discord, and she thanked me for that. Jon says that Jeremy spends a lot of time on Twitch, and figured I wasn't really a gamer - true, but it passes the time for sure! The boys greeted me with what I took to be HAPPY BIRTHDAY - better than Mom's greeting of "Do you know how to cancel a person who is dead?" Um, what?! Beckett just stared at me until he warmed up in the high chair - looking out the window, clapping, laughing, and slapping the table were all entertainment to him!

Discussed menu options, making my own decisions, Pirate Paks, various milkshakes, Monday / Tuesday plans (sure I'll go help out on my own birthday!), Kwong Chow with Uncle Stanley, Brooke, parking upstairs, texting,

Mom and Dad's birthday gifts: Tostitos Rounds chips, No Name beef cup noodles, a birthday card with a cat coaster which is now between the fridge and my kitchen counter, Colgate 360 toothbrushes, Colgate Winterfresh Cavity Protection toothpaste, Colgate Cool Mint MaxFresh toothpaste, Burt's Bees ginger-lime lip balm, a tiny 30 mL Purell hand sanitizer, Simple Skincare cleansing wipes, and a new White Cross Scrubs pale blue scrub jacket.

Today is National Toilet Paper Day! I showered today after making tentative plans with Donald from the V4F server to have dinner somewhere in Richmond. We picked No. 9 Restaurant at 7 (I got there at 7:05), which was convenient for sure! Talked about Grand Prairie, working on the line, his cousin, server drama with Tony and Michelle, walking around downtown, computer science, discrete math, and his wanting to get a developer job out here someday. It wasn't too bad - only $10 for me, which is still expensive for wonton mein and water dumplings! Got home at 8:35 on a 407, which is fine. Jon FINALLY said that "Louie's parents' pizza place" is Don't Argue. Geez, you could have said THAT in the email and not made me message you on Facebook... but at least I have a time now of 5:30!

After COFFEE TIME / SHOWER TIME / LAUNDRY TIME, Eric picked me up at 6:10 so we could go to Lion's Den plus Bells and Whistles for Randal's birthday thing. Thank goodness for texting! I wore my Spirit of Nature "Canada D'Eh!" moose T-shirt in honor of Canada Day long weekend, of course. Kevin, Eric Ho, Eric M., Jeremy, Randal, and I discussed chimerism in humans, jerk chicken, curry goat, ginger beer, Jamaican patties, working security at the NHL Draft in Vancouver recently, Kaapo Kakko, Jim Benning and the number 6 (NOT 666), my NOT wanting Eric to put his styrofoam (teriyaki chicken) leftovers box in my tote bag without a plastic bag because it would spill all over, Christon and Alice coming really late to Bells and Whistles, my "famous" handwritten birthday card for Randal, Grace hot sauce, the Scoville scale, and the world's youngest mother.

It took 15 minutes for us to get the bill and pay because Kevin wanted our bills to have an additional amount for Randal's stuff. I didn't mind paying part of Randal's bill, but can't we do that among ourselves without wasting time? I don't mind the owner talking to someone in a wheelchair, but that was before she took our request for the bill. We did meet the owner and heard her story, just like that time we were there years ago. I knew the immediate area looked vaguely familiar!

Later, we ordered various beers (Kevin had a Pilsner while I had a Vancouver Special West Coast IPA) and Jon showed up to order garlic fries at Bells and Whistles. I was on my phone (Jon asked how I liked it after I gave him some used printer paper for Hiero's origami creations), but paid attention to CANADIAN BACON while texting Pothead Mike about stuff on Google Hangouts. Eric and I left after Kevin and Jeremy did - discussed chicken and waffles, anime, DARK SOULS, SHINING FORCE, the Nintendo Switch, and cleaning up after Christon's wedding at Kirin. Hopefully, it won't be like the time Mike wanted to help out at Tony and Trish's wedding after an already long day! Got home at 10:30 and discussed the questionable smell outside - at least it didn't smell like shit like on Thursday evening!

After COFFEE TIME, a German Shaw technician came by at 11:35 AM with a replacement cable box / new PVR box / new remote control / new modem / advice. (calling my HOME number 15 minutes beforehand to see whether I was home... WHAT DO YOU THINK?!) When he left at 12:15 after also setting up my wi-fi network on my cellphone, I took a much-needed shower and did some much-needed laundry!

In the evening, Dylan came by at 6:55 PM to help me buy a new microwave at London Drugs. He did call me first at 6:25 to advise me that he was at Walmart doing some stuff, then would come by here. We talked about his Great Value red curry chips, Declan and Elysse's swimming lessons, NOT defrosting meat in the microwave because it won't cook evenly and will be all frozen in the middle ("SEE?! NO ONE BELIEVES ME!"), his stressful day at work, parking, and the heavy bulky stuff. Came back home at 7:30 after I selected a new black RCA 1.1 cubic foot microwave oven for $99.99 plus tax (so about $117.60) - yes, that was definitely going on my savings account! Good thing I checked my bank balances BEFORE going out - that Panasonic inverter microwave from Robert was at least twice the price from Robert. I know why Mike insisted on it - because of his own image problems!

Then I heard that the St. Louis Blues had won the 2019 Stanley Cup against the nasty Bruins! Makes me feel better about 2011, for sure! I told Paulo to bookmark these microwave oven cooking conversion charts as well. He was at the gym, but came by at 9:35 to pick up the Danby Designers 700-watt microwave. Yes, having a free backup is nice, but I like to pay favors forward when I can. It just rarely happens in two and a half hours! Like I had thanked Dylan, Paulo thanked me - it's a cycle! :D

Eric M. unexpectedly called me at 2:50 to say that Eric Ho and a few of the guys were going to watch the Toronto Raptors play the Golden State Warriors in an NBA playoff game (Game 2) at 12 Kings, and wondered if I'd like to go. I said sure, why not. (much better freedom without Jimmy around!) He said he'd pick me up around 4:30 or so, and did. While I was waiting, I discovered that he'd texted me about the hangout at noon. Oops! At least we managed to work it out in the end!

Then Eric managed to drop me off in front of the pub after using his phone to navigate his way to 12 Kings. I tried texting Chinese Eric to see where he was, but got no answer. Jeremy came in a few minutes later and we managed to find Chinese Eric and Randal while white Eric was parking. After saying hi, I was still not impressed, so told him to answer his fucking texts, in those words. He said that he'd been talking to Randal, but it's TIME-SENSITIVE! "WHERE ARE YOU?" should be answered IMMEDIATELY! UGH! Yes, I'm being a hypocrite about this. Oh well. Randal gave me a LOOK, but whatever. At least we can be casual acquaintances now, which is okay by me. Eric implied that he wasn't going to invite me, but since Christon was dragging Alice along, he thought of me. Gee, thanks!

We talked about Yellow Dog Play Dead IPA, sharing a platter of nachos / olives / jalapenos / cheese eventually (we paid Chinese Eric back $4.50 each), Obama being in the building for the basketball game, my Reddit mobile being VERY SLOW and not loading (but it eventually did a while later), instant noodles, spicy noodles not good for the stomach, Christon and Alice's fried food, Eric's club sandwich, current events, Jon organizing this but not making it because of teaching, and Nathan being back in town till Christon's wedding, the CFL and BC Lions games / tickets, Jeremy's brother Mark doing well in Seattle, and keeping in touch with people online. When I noticed that Randal was reading The New Evil: Understanding the Emergence of Modern Violent Crime (Michael H. Stone, Gary Brucato, Ann W. Burgess), I had to show him MY current reading material: The Most Evil Women in History (Shelley Klein) - HAHAHA! Randal mentioned that he'd thought of me while picking his book up at the library, and Jeremy laughed at the coincidence, because great minds think alike!

Chinese Eric wasn't impressed that the Raptors lost 109-104, but nobody else in the pub to watch the game was, either. He also owes me an extra 50 cents because he didn't carry cash or expect me to have the London Drugs receipt for the Indomie Mi Goreng Chitato chips. We finally left about an hour after the game, at 8:30. Those stairs at the pub are not disability-friendly since they have no handrail, forcing me to jump the last step, LIKE I DID LAST TIME ON MARCH 12! It wasn't too far to the car, which is fine. Eric got a text message while he was driving into Richmond, which he hoped wasn't Chinese Eric texting him that he was lost on the way to his own car. He said he could give me a ride to Christon's wedding (which is on the same day as Mike Kwan's), but that I'd have to remind him closer to the date since it's so far away now. I totally understand!

I went out at 3:10 on a 407 (which luckily picked me up at the sidewalk) for shopping purposes. Decided to go to the Bay to see if they had any halfway affordable camisoles: I lucked into a half-price weekend sale on Core Life camisoles (which I bet Jimmy would like to wear), and so I bought four of them. Some of them had a built-in shelf bra, which I later found out made things more difficult to wear. Ugh!

Went to London Drugs to get Indomie Mi Goreng Chitato chips x5 for Chinese Eric, Speed Stick Glacier deodorant, limited-edition Cheetos Leaves snacks for Canada Day, NEW on-sale Hardbite Pepper Jack chips, an on-sale Tasty Bite pack (Organic Ancient Grains), and Purell hand sanitizer x3. I got home at 4:35 on a 407, which is good. Then I went to London Drugs again at 7 on a 401 to get on-sale Vaseline lotion (big green Aloe Vera / small yellow Dry Skin Repair), and more on-sale Tasty Bite packs x10. (Basmati White Rice x6 / Thai Vegetable Curry / Thai Vegetable Peanut / Coconut Vegetables / Vindaloo) Got home at 7:40 and found out that I don't actually like Kettle Honey Dijon chips AND that my Becel avocado oil margarine expires tomorrow. Guess I'll be going out again sometime to get a tub!

Pile of dirt outside my window yesterday - thanks, construction! It almost obscures the hospital, man!

I had a banana-chocolate muffin, cut strawberries, and coffee for breakfast. Lunch was some leftovers including butter chicken. Dinner: Thai eggplant curry with peppers and bamboo, rice, naan bread, plus Tillamook Malted Moo ice cream! We watched some stuff on Netflix and generally had a chill evening with crafts and reading.

Frying Pan Lake at Waimangu (New Zealand) is one of the world’s largest hot pools: 38,000 square metres in area, and fed by numerous acid springs. The lake fills part of a crater formed by the 1886 Tarawera eruption. It has a flat floor, mainly about 6 metres deep, although some vents are up to 20 metres deep. Lake temperature is generally between 45 and 55°C.

I went in for surgery on my other eye today when Barry picked me up at 9:20. I'm glad that Brian showed up in time to give me a ride home at 2:30. He was perfectly fine, asking me eight times whether I was okay, how I was feeling, whether I needed a drink or painkillers, etc. Looking at my phone right afterwards was not productive. The sun was bright, but he let me know about the step down to the car. Got home at 3:50 (TEN MINUTES AFTER MOM AND DAD WANTED TO PICK ME UP AFTER AYLER'S SCHOOL PICKUP!) and almost immediately took a nap from the anesthetic. I had some soup as the nurses recommended, then Deb called at 6:10. Sure, I'd be ready pretty soon, and didn't need Dylan to pick me up later. Tomorrow's followup at the eye clinic is at 9 AM - yikes!

The soup prepared me for a dinner of adobo with rice, half a kiwi, GREAT VALUE tandoori chips, and fish congee with shredded pork and peanuts. Declan and Elysse demonstrated the FORTNITE floss dance to me at dinner, hahaha. At 7:15, I decided to check my text messages BEFORE the phone keyboard letters turned to curlicues at the ends, and could barely decipher one which Barry - of all the people - had sent. I got Declan to help read it and reply with "Francis," telling him how to spell the word. No, I was not thinking of giving Barry extra info pre-surgery; he should be happy I was able to call him at ALL! Elysse gave me spontaneous hugs, which is fine. I finally gave the kids those HATCHIMAL and MINECRAFT stickers I'd seen at the Richmond Centre dollar store months ago, and they seemed to like them a lot. I will sleep downstairs on the sofa bed.

A couple days ago, Alice said she'd send me DOES IT FART?: THE DEFINITIVE FIELD GUIDE TO ANIMAL FLATULENCE (Nick Caruso, Dani Rabaiotti) in the mail for free. I was expecting it to arrive on May 2, but I was surprised when I got a "missed call" today because the phone beeped at me at 1:30. Thank goodness that the East Indian Amazon delivery driver was patient and called me back again... that saves me the trek down to Purolator! Of course I thanked Alice within ten minutes before I got distracted with editing my Book List entry and Goodreads! She hopes I enjoy it, too!

Brian picked me up at about 9 last night from the hospital's main entrance, but I had to take a gigantic huge detour because the construction had blocked off the sidewalks right by my place AGAIN! (going through the parking lot and then find the sidewalk by the pharmacy and then cross THREE crosswalks to get to the hospital) He had joked that it would be like Little Iraq trying to get to my place, and this was about right. The chill get-together was for Paulo's 27th birthday, so of course I was going to come out and meet him. Things were fine until we tried finding Fremlin, but I eventually called Holly (who doesn't have a buzzer system or an elevator in her apartment building?!) when Brian eventually found it. She said that she was going to throw her keys down to us, probably because she was tired of going up and down the stairs for everyone else!

When Brian finally figured out the front door lock (the one in my building is recalcitrant as well), we went upstairs to Holly's suite. We met Paulo, and said hi to Holly and Darryl. Talked about bartending, gin and tonic, red wine, beers, smoking (always someone's choice), travel (Jordan and Egypt and Australia), the leftover pizza with pepperoni and sausage, online people in the other Discord server, Gastown, awful dates, hyphenated names, feminism, the 407, friends being in abusive relationships, weird names like Jesus Condom, the closed sidewalks around my place, (looking for) work, Long Island Iced Teas, (video) interviews, San Francisco, Montreal, fudge Oreos, and my Korean BBQ Kettle chips. Of course I let Holly keep them! Turns out that Paulo lives two minutes from me, which is always good just in case. I let Brian drop me off at Birchwood instead of Dogwood, but I was still with it enough to figure out where I was since things looked different. Got in at midnight, which is fine. Good times with FREEDOM!

After COFFEE TIME, I had to get ready to leave by 11 for Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot at Lansdowne for a lunch with Mom and Dad. Fatty beef, lamb shoulder, Napa cabbage, white noodles, tofu, yams, vegetable and pork dumplings, deep-fried chicken wings, cod fillets, shrimp balls, beef balls, fish balls, tiger prawns, broth, an iced sour plum drink, and tea! Mom complained that they had seen bus stops around my place - yeah, but that doesn't mean they are in service right now! Dad "helped" with my phone's data and wifi settings. Yes, I know Harmony's family birthday is the 10th somewhere. I'll confirm things with Jon in a few days; no need to rush and be impatient about things! They dropped me off at London Drugs, so I walked home and got in at 12:45.

Random stuff from Mom and Dad: $10 cash, Maggi Masala Indian instant noodles x2 which have already expired as of February 3, Nosh and Co. Munch Madness cheddar and sour cream chips, GIM roasted seasoned seaweed x10, a Want Want gift pack (a box of strawberry Lovely Puffs / five small bags of orange QQ Gummies / a box of round chocolate sticks / a bag of milk candy), No Name chicken instant noodle packages x6, No Name chicken cup noodles, Paldo (팔도 (Paldo)) hot and spicy cup noodles, a package of Nissin chicken instant noodles x5, a packet of Wing's Foods hot chili sauce, President's Choice ginger-peach teabags x18, and organic Nighty Night Traditional Relaxation Teas teabags x4.

I went out again at 5 on a 407 to Shoppers Drug Mart. I went out at 2:05 on a 414 to meet Rachel at the Caring Place, getting home at 3:50 on a 407. Dr. Wise's office (Megan) called me at 4:15 to try scheduling a last-minute appointment for tomorrow at noon to REPEAT an eye test that I thought the Willow UBC Eye Care Clinic already did back on November 15! Dr. Wise then said that she wanted to make sure I got the best lens possible, and she needed the info before going into the OR, so couldn't do it while I was asleep during the operation. Okay, I guess... Megan did say it was a hassle, which is right, because I said it was an inconvenience, then felt bad about it. I'd been planning to relax, but whatever! I have to be positive and believe that people will help me if I'm lost - which is bound to happen downtown!

We had to go back to Coast Capital (discussing Joy Division and the Clash and hockey fights) because my debit card came up with a "CAN'T PROCESS" error at the store! Ugh! At least I LUCKILY had the $180 cash to pay for my purchases, but STILL! This is a new card from late JULY, too! Bonus: The bank teller's name was HARSHDEEP!

After that, I paid my Shaw and hydro bills online at home. Then I got a Christmas photo card from Janet S. (ghost_light) and Christmas presents and stuff from Julie in a bubble-wrap envelope! A Christmas card with stickers, red and pink CHRISTMAS HOUSE penguin socks, a fun and fuzzy JOT ballpoint pen, Women Daredevils: Thrills, Chills, and Frills (Julie Cummins / Cheryl Harness), eight sticker sheets (Christmas glitter / wild animals / truck stickers which Ayler and Hiero would probably stick all over the floor if I gave it to them / five more assorted sheets), two fun and encouraging little notebooks ("You can do this!" / "Best day ever!"), and a penguin pouch of Cappuccino For You! Eric Ho also finally emailed me back, saying that with his current work schedule, the 27th is the only date that could work for a hockey hangout before the new year. 2018 Year In Review!

THIS ENTRY IS ALLOWED TO HAVE NON-ALIGNED TAGS.

[Meme fun: Take the first line from the first post of every month of the year. Repost it here as your year in review. (I'm discounting greetings and things like that :P) Yeah, it's been an interesting year!]

Go to your Calendar and find the first entry for each month of the year. Post the first line of it in your journal as a paragraph, and that's your "Year In Review."

Also had to field a reminder phone call from Uncle Andrew's office (which I guess is now Sean's) about tomorrow's dentist appointment. They wanted me to come in at 3:30 instead of 4 - I guess so...

Went to London Drugs for more on-sale Scotties Kleenex (6x140 EnviroCare this time), chocolate Oreo Thins cookies / vanilla Oreo Thins cookies for Eat An Oreo Day today, and a small (more portable) Rubbermaid 37L storage box for my room. Thanks to a 407 which waited for me, I was home at 4 instead of a later time. After sending me a message earlier, Andrew M. called at 5:50 to wonder whether this weekend would be a good time for the new computer, and warned me that I'd be without the machine from sometime on Friday to sometime on Sunday. Discussed Cultus Lake, $40 cash money, going to the States for cheaper gas every couple of weeks, birthdays, having a life, seeing his girls, and more. Chinese Eric finally emailed me back about a limited time for a Canucks hockey hangout - PHEW! I left at 4:30 in the rainy weather for Harmony's family birthday party at So Hyang Restaurant at Fraser and 47th after COFFEE TIME. We had beef bulgogi, pork bone soup, Korean noodles, deep-fried dumplings, rice, tea, kimchi, potatoes, and various other sides. Ayler and Hiero told me about the trams, cable cars, bridges, and other things in San Francisco; apparently, they were in Richmond yesterday for dinner at a place on Westminster, too. Later, Ayler wanted to feel my belly to see if I had a baby inside me, and asked Harmony how old my "baby" was; Jon says that this was unprompted. Yeah sure, yaz ugfart! After I had COFFEE TIME, Barry picked me up at 12:50 and we went banking and to Price Smart, where 80% of the store smelled like durian! I bought on-sale Western Family store brand Ultra paper towels in a six-pack, on-sale Cottonelle toilet paper, Fanny Bay raw oysters for $20 (June 2, 2017), noodles, SOMETHING NEW, ice cream, dumplings, Western Family store brand chili con carne (hot AND original styles!) plus Uncle Ben's Bistro Express basmati rice x2 to go with it, on-sale Finesse extra body shampoo / conditioner, Koka curry noodles x2, store brand large rubber gloves, on-sale Finesse moisturizing shampoo / conditioner, on-sale Juzz Mee noodles x2 (original AND curry), Paldo spicy cheese ramen, regular and curry Laksa wholegrain La Mian noodles, and on-sale Silk almond milk x2. Then we went to London Drugs: a Jersey Milk chocolate bar for the Randal memory dragon, on-sale SunRype apple juice, on-sale SunRype orange juice, and on-sale Colgate 360° toothbrushes x2.

Barry and I saw a GOLDEN TRUCK in the back parking lot of London Drugs! When I got home, I paid my Shaw bill online. Then I went back to London Drugs (twice in one day!) at 6:30 on a 401 so I could get some on-sale LATE JULY organic multigrain tortilla chips for the time coincidence and quirkiness! I love quirky coincidences! While I was there, I couldn't resist getting one last large SunRype apple juice for a total savings of $12 on four jugs because the sale ends tonight! I got home at 6:55 on a 407, so YAY FOR BUS EFFICIENCY! I also saw an old guy with an artificial leg!

Some older guy by the hospital said that my San Francisco shirt was a "nice shirt." Cool!

I had to go out at 12:10 to the London Drugs at Broadway Station AGAIN to make sure I got the on-sale wasabi Pringles chips this time, along with $2 Efruti Fruit Juice Gummies in Berries (Raspberries and Blackberries) and Raspberries flavors. Getting there was fine, as I did that in 20 minutes thanks to just managing to get the 401, but the way back was cluttered with wheelchairs and strollers and scooters! That girl in a wheelchair could have gone to London Drugs in the time it took for her to wait for the 407 at Brighouse! I finally got home at 2:15!

Jason's birthday is April 1. After COFFEE TIME, I went out at 5 to meet Vanessa and Jason at Joyce Station by 6:30, I brought the peanut butter / peppermint Whittakers chocolate bars, the carrot cake Hershey's Kisses, and the birthday cards! I just managed to get the 407, just missed a Canada Line train, and just missed a 41 Joyce bus! Oh, the humanity! Vanessa and her work friend Elizabeth were still waiting for me, while Jason was parked down the road a bit. When Vanessa gave me the Bath and Body Works White Citrus foaming hand soap, Bath and Body Works Peach Bellini foaming hand soap, and Bath and Body Works Fresh Market Apple foaming hand soap, I gave her all the chocolate and stuff before I forgot. She said that she might be able to get me a ride to Richmond with her friends Wayne and Shelina, which was fine by me. I also met her friends Elizabeth, Chad (who's a smoker), and Jen. We talked about work, the hour-long lineup to get into Anton's, Wayne and Shelina (who are FWB) being extremely late (WE DON'T WANT TO KNOW ABOUT A VIAGRA / CIALIS MOMENT, JASON!), beer, picture frames, newspaper routes, Shelina's clingy ten-year-old son, my aspirin, Jason's back pain, Elizabeth being a registered Shiatsu massage therapist, gay Patrick, going downtown, my spicy Fusilli New Orleans pasta with shrimp / scallops / chicken / Italian sausage, Jen living near Boundary, Shelina somehow spelling "Hastings" with an M, Shelina being Native and being from Victoria (but her parents now live on a reserve near Agassiz), emulators, MAME and arcade games, directions, tiramisu cake, and Easter weekend plans. It was a good time out, but now I'm ready to relax!
