After COFFEE TIME, I went out at 3:15 (first refilling my yearly prescription at the pharmacy next door) on a 401 (JUST IN TIME) to help with the kids. I had to leave room for a suitcase and also remember to get to the house after 4:35 because of a water shutoff till 4. Lovely! I killed time at the Save-On nearby, and when Harmony said they were fine at 4:35, I said I'd be there soon, but made a necessary pit stop at Kwong Chow first. That meant I washed my hands twice within ten minutes, but whatever. The replacement black carry-on suitcase looked okay, and I later found out that ALL the zippers were fine and that it was way easier to handle and maneuver! When I got there just after 5, Beckett wanted to see me and say hi in his own way - so cute! Harmony said that Jon was doing his West Vancouver holiday gig, which is totally worth it, but means a little extra work on everyone else's part. Ayler wanted to know why, haha. My nephews are smart and curious kids!

Hiero wanted to show me his "enchanted airplane," Ayler wanted to show me some piano techniques and quiz me on piano (and quizzing me on math at dinner), and Beckett just wanted to show me all his balls and have this cute confused look when the balls wouldn't go through the holes in that wooden toy. He did go over to the far windowsill (almost obscured by the curtain) and play with the toy molecule rod and balls there while looking at the lights across the street. (and did it with the near window, too - spouting gibberish as usual) I found another emotion egg later and gave it to him. He wanted to go after the pom-pom on my Santa hat (Harmony thought that was funny), explore my bling shirt, and gently touched the keloid scar on my neck later out of curiosity. (I told him that this wasn't a "ball-ball") He climbed on top of Ayler, who didn't like that, and then climbed on top of Hiero, who was a bit more acquiescent. When he threw the balls around and pointed at them, I asked him if he wanted me to go get them. After a pause, he said "yeah," so I said okay. Hiero wasn't sure if he knows what that means, but he did say "wow" tonight for the first time!

Beckett also has discovered the apartment door, and sometimes crawls to it for whatever reason. I picked him up and got him out of there, of course. He wanted to sit on my lap and "read" the 100 Words baby book, which I of course let him do because he's much lighter than his brothers and my legs don't complain! I did have a toe cramp much later, but it was okay within a few minutes of agony. We had beef tendon and beef brisket with broad white noodles and vegetables for dinner - even with cereal, Beckett didn't eat much. Harmony crammed some Rice Krispies into his mouth later a few times when he was preoccupied with me and the toys, otherwise he'll be way too hungry tomorrow morning! She bought some stuff on the Black Friday sales, and I told the kids about the KFC 50% Bowls and Buckets deal yesterday when Harmony was gone temporarily. Hiero asked if I wanted to buy it - not after I heard the website was pretty broken! Ayler asked me what a website was, so I asked him if he remembers Kids Physio. His face brightened at that: YES! I told him that a lot of stores and businesses and people had websites on the Internet these days. He seemed to accept this explanation. I didn't mind if Harmony gave Beckett some shortbread at all.

I left at 7:30 and was thankfully able to catch the 3 Marine Drive bus earlier instead of later, and got home at 8:40 on a 407 in time to catch the last five minutes of the second period. The Canucks played Ottawa tonight at 7, and won 5-2 on the Alex Burrows Ring of Honor evening! Fantenberg and MacEwen got their first goals! I also managed to pack everything into that suitcase without anything breaking or being overstuffed... SUCCESS!

From Julie: Christmas is so much harder when you get older. It's like, "What do you want this year?" I don't know... maybe a sense of purpose, some financial security, could use more sleep, a bottle of wine, and maybe some new bras. Brian picked me up at about 9 last night from the hospital's main entrance, but I had to take a gigantic huge detour because the construction had blocked off the sidewalks right by my place AGAIN! (going through the parking lot and then find the sidewalk by the pharmacy and then cross THREE crosswalks to get to the hospital) He had joked that it would be like Little Iraq trying to get to my place, and this was about right. The chill get-together was for Paulo's 27th birthday, so of course I was going to come out and meet him. Things were fine until we tried finding Fremlin, but I eventually called Holly (who doesn't have a buzzer system or an elevator in her apartment building?!) when Brian eventually found it. She said that she was going to throw her keys down to us, probably because she was tired of going up and down the stairs for everyone else!

When Brian finally figured out the front door lock (the one in my building is recalcitrant as well), we went upstairs to Holly's suite. We met Paulo, and said hi to Holly and Darryl. Talked about bartending, gin and tonic, red wine, beers, smoking (always someone's choice), travel (Jordan and Egypt and Australia), the leftover pizza with pepperoni and sausage, online people in the other Discord server, Gastown, awful dates, hyphenated names, feminism, the 407, friends being in abusive relationships, weird names like Jesus Condom, the closed sidewalks around my place, (looking for) work, Long Island Iced Teas, (video) interviews, San Francisco, Montreal, fudge Oreos, and my Korean BBQ Kettle chips. Of course I let Holly keep them! Turns out that Paulo lives two minutes from me, which is always good just in case. I let Brian drop me off at Birchwood instead of Dogwood, but I was still with it enough to figure out where I was since things looked different. Got in at midnight, which is fine. Good times with FREEDOM!

I left at 2 on a 414 to the Caring Place to see Rachel at 2. Then I got an eyeball ultrasound appointment this Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at St. Paul's, so I had to look up the transit there. I was home at 3:50 on a 407, which is pretty fast. The Canucks played the Oilers at 6 in the sixth and penultimate game of their 2018-2019 training camp, and lost 6-0 complete with a hat trick.

Today is Bad Poetry Day! Eric M. called me at 12:40 to see if I wanted a ride to Boston Pizza for Chinese Eric's birthday hangout: a 1 PM BC Lions game against the Toronto Argonauts! Sure, sounded good to me, especially since I'd been going to leave in five minutes anyway! Of course I brought Chinese Eric's birthday card and on-sale Ritter Sport Dark Chocolate with Peppermint and on-sale Ritter Sport Fine Extra Dark Chocolate, which I gave to him right away! I also figured out that my own birthday dinner would probably be at Kisamos Greek Taverna in Steveston on Sunday, September 23rd. When white Eric and I got there, he checked his texts to see that Chinese Eric was already there. The difference between us and my parents: We don't say anything about Chinese Eric waiting for us at a table already, with his back turned to the door!

We discussed CASTLEVANIA, BATMAN, MARIO movies, Wally Buono / Alzheimers vs. Parkinson's, Travis Lulay, some player named Jonathan, my new glasses, catching up on Facebook, the Canucks, pre-season news, new third jerseys for the Canes / Islanders / Flyers, my new computer, Chinese Eric's helping Jon to move a bit of stuff the other day since he actually took work off for his birthday for the first time in four years. Also discussed "interesting" stories of white Eric's work (that wouldn't be a good thing when it comes to fire alarms and stuff!), the Art Gallery, eating calamari / salt and pepper chicken wings / a large Meateor pizza for the price of a Medium (Chinese Eric took the leftover pizza slices home by default), white Eric paying for everything with his credit card (but I gave him $20 for my portion, which he was fine with), replays, touchdowns, and field goals. When Eric drove me home at 4:15 after the Lions lost, I asked if he could figure out the printer while he was here. Yes, the parking pass / parking permit system is annoying! He got things working, tested things out, and left at 4:50 after I thanked him. No chocolate needed this time! Maybe I'll see him again before my birthday dinner, but who knows? The hot water still isn't back on - THE COLD WATER IS SO FREEZING!

After I bought a 3-pack of dark JOCKEY underwear at the Bay which was unexpectedly on sale for $9 off ($21.99 from $30.99), I showered and did laundry. I went out at 11 on an 407, and returned home at 11:30 on another 407 - YAY FOR BUS EFFICIENCY ON A SATURDAY! I even found out where the clearance undershirts were for future reference! (way in the back)
