Deb emailed me to say that she and Dylan can't make it to the MEGA SUSHI dinner after all, since she just found out that her niece has a birthday celebration that same day. "You See the World as Somewhat Just"

You don't see the world in simple terms. What's just and unjust is complicated.
You believe that justice is sometimes served, both in and outside the courts. But there is plenty of injustice to go around.

You don't expect anyone to treat you fairly or unfairly. You do your best to protect yourself from life's uncertainty.
You consider any justice you receive to be a bonus, but it's certainly not the norm.

From Julie: Stephen Colbert! Stephen Warmbert!

"Your Wine is Cabernet"

You are a resilient and successful person. You have a lot of willpower, and you are more resistant to stress than most people.
You truly appreciate the finer things in life. You are always on a hunt for the best; second place is a disappointment.

You have a strong sense of self, but it's not off-putting. You are well-mannered and can engage anyone.
You could have been very successful taking the traditional route in life, but instead, you've chosen to forge your own path.

Then I went to London Drugs to get 800 index cards (especially since the sale expired TODAY!), black Secret thin socks, and a purple Life Candy shower puff. After COFFEE TIME, I left at 4:40 to get to Jeremy's for white Eric's birthday dinner in the HOT weather! I managed to get a 99 bus that dropped me right in front of Kingsgate Mall, but the transit security officer said that I should wait two seconds for the bus to stop. Yeah, I know that, but you're directly in my way! I bought a Western Family Swiss 72% dark chocolate bar for Eric (because anything from home would probably have MELTED on the way to Jeremy's), some on-sale Vancouver Only lemon dish detergent, a Lever 2000 Pure Rain body wash (which seems more easily openable right now, so I'm using it immediately), and some Old Spice Denali body wash at Buy-Low for the Gwei Lo before cutting through Dude Chilling Park to get to Jeremy's. To my mild surprise, dinner was already in progress after Eric joked about whether I really wanted to come in. No, I want to sweat my ass off all evening instead! I gave Eric his birthday card and chocolate bar, and told him that Steph said hi and HAPPY BIRTHDAY, too!

Ayler and Hiero were there, and acknowledged my presence by saying that I was sitting diagonally from them. We had fish tacos, fish sauce, coleslaw, a simple tomato salad, and hibiscus juice. It was fine, and it was only $8 for me. Randal was there, but I barely acknowledged him. I saw white Eric #2, which was a surprise. I played for a bit with Hiero, who wanted to steer the blue car through "traffic" and went over the barrier of Christon's foot. We watched Japanese babymetal music videos by きゃりーぱみゅぱみゅ (thanks to Stanley - who's getting married on November 18), some Albert Ayler, and even a bit of a TedTalk thanks to Hiero pressing a bunch of computer keys. Ayler said that he can walk to kindergarten some of the days, which makes sense!

The kids went home early after excitedly watering the plants. Jeremy asked me if I knew what a literal douche (the stuff which is sold in stores) was when I got back from the bathroom - I said that Christon would have to look it up himself! Then we watched Kendrick Lamar (thanks to Stanley) and Tyler the Creator before Jon thought we could all go to Twelve Kings for a pint. Eric and I just opted to go home afterwards, which was great for me and my alone time! I got home at 8:15 after discussing Whitney Houston / Erykah Badu / my tentative sushi plans with Eric.

From Julie: I know you're upset. Why don't you post something passive-aggressive on Facebook and not explain the situation. That usually helps.

"You Are Very Frank"

You are the type of person who tells it like it is. You aren't going to insult people by lying to them.
Your friends can count on you for an honest opinion, whether they ask for it or not. And sometimes the truth isn't pretty.

You are never mean or overly harsh with your frank ways. But if you have to choose, you go for honesty over tact.
You believe that the truth will set us all free. We all suffer when we lie to ourselves and each other.

"You Are William"

You are a smart and contemplative person. You have always been ahead of your time.
You are very curious about the world and enjoy the role of observer. When it comes to many subjects, you definitely know your stuff.

You are dedicated and persistent. You may not be the most aggressive person, but you are assertive in your own way.
You find most other people fascinating. You are not one to intervene much in others' lives, but you will stand up for what is right.

"You Are Waffle Fries"

You are a bit of a rebel and even a lone wolf. You are extremely resistant to peer pressure.
You aren't one to follow the crowd, and you may even run in the opposite direction. You like the solitude of the road less traveled.

You can be a bit of a cynic at times, but you are never too pessimistic. You have a hearty appetite for all of life's experiences, including food.
You like your waffles a little different, and won't just stop at waffle fries. Falafel waffle, anyone?

From Reddit in June 2017: Reality Winner?!

glowing_dragon: (Devilish Smile)
I had a dream where Jimmy was driving me and Tommy in a van somewhere, and Jimmy kept saying that he would choose Tommy over me, even as he dropped him off at a house somewhere before going into Richmond (where we both lived for whatever reason) and hanging out with me at a crowded conference. Okay then, subconscious! I'm probably going to make a new Facebook music group called COME AS YOU ARE, too. Tommy would automatically be blacklisted because of my rule of not typing like a moron. Punctuation is important! Jimmy says he wouldn't choose him over me, so we'll see.

"Your Intellect Eclipses Your Isolation"

You are constantly seeking to know more about the world. Understanding is always your key to happiness.
You may not be a naturally social person, but you connect with others freely when shared interest, knowledge, and passions are involved.

You are curious about the world and new ideas. You are open to changing your mind, and are constantly collecting information.
You are not quick to judge someone, even if you think you disagree. You seek to learn more instead.

Not sure about the last two sentences, especially right now at my stage of life! I can be quite comfortable judging people, especially if they act defensive / manipulative / supercilious / toxic! Trust me, I had to deal with at least one of those people last week! No, thanks! I have no time for that!

glowing_dragon: (Bert and Ernie)
Jon sent me a Facebook message at 9:40 about possibly helping with the kids on Monday afternoon, and mentioned that he'd let Harmony arrange Wednesday with me. Sure, why not? That reminded me to call Barry AGAIN at 11:45 to see if I could change our appointment time since that's also on Wednesday. This time, I left a message! He called me back shortly after, saying that he'd been going to call me because he also wanted to change the appointment time since he'll be in Vancouver for longer than he thought. YAY FOR GOOD TIMING! Thursday afternoon at 12:30 works for me!

From Not Always Right: Kai Drawwater?! Draw Water?! Now I want fish and chips, too...

From Not Always Right: Katrin Schirmir?! The last name is rhymy, and the first name looks incomplete. It should really be Katrina! She also claims to be an introvert (but uses it in the "social anxiety" way), claims to be part of the LGBT spectrum (yet is married to a man), and always repeats people's jokes back to them when she isn't commenting 20 times on one story alone...

From Not Always Working: Kristen Parlee? Parlee as in "parley" spelled correctly, as in TALKING?!

From Not Always Working: Keera Ann Fox?!

From Not Always Working: Keesha Turner?! I bet she's black...

glowing_dragon: (No Netspeak!)
Last night, Tommy was being pretty annoying with his continuous Facebook messages, so I gave him one-word answers till he apparently got the hint. Then he dragged me into a Facebook group chat with Helen and Jimmy at 10:15 PM to talk about Jen and defend her behavior. We weren't too impressed with his excuses and "staying neutral" for a manipulative and defensive and condescending "friend," to say the least! Then I was not happy when Tommy messaged me earlier today by saying that he'd allow me my space, but I could talk anytime I was willing to. What?! I later sent that screenshot to Helen and Jimmy in our own group chat. No, I am not rude for setting boundaries and telling him like it is. Jimmy apparently read everything at work today, at least.

Tommy is stupid!

glowing_dragon: (OMFG Yay!)
Since I got up at 8 AM, it was COFFEE TIME! I later showered and did laundry.

"You Should Wear Brown Sunglasses"

You are very down to earth, and your fashion choices are very classic. You don't mind paying more for quality pieces.
You are smart and savvy. You wear sunglasses not only to complete your look, but also to protect your eyes.

You always know how to dress for the occasion. Fashion for you is more like camouflage - you want people to focus on your other qualities.
You pick clothes that are comfortable and a perfect fit. You may look dressed up, but you're as comfy as can be!

Today is Left-Handers Day! I had to deal with a lot of online drama this morning, which involved some rude and condescending Penguins fan named Jennifer who thought that she had an IQ of 169, and that my "attitude problem" could be solved by talking to her. I don't THINK so! Thank goodness Helen Y. understood, while Jimmy could definitely relate, and Tommy was okay with people leaving that Metropolis Division group chat on Facebook. Hopefully, Jimmy and I can forge more of a friendship! I think it's a good sign that he says he trusts me (gotta make sure that stays) and wants me to speak my mind / anything to him. I'll just take this friendship slowly, as per usual.

From Julie: Talton English?!

From Not Always Working: Khristy Monigold?! The only acceptable spellings for that name are Christy and Kristy. MAYBE Kristi or Cristy.

In FINAL FANTASY VI: THE ETERNAL CRYSTALS, the party finally makes it to the Ancient Castle dungeon. They find Queen Yunalesca's Diary in a room to the right of the throne! "A book, with a gem-encrusted cover... Queen Yunalesca's Diary."

In the GBA version of FINAL FANTASY VI, the diary is simply "The Queen's Diary." In the SNES version (not pictured), the diary is even more simple: "Queen's Diary." It says, "The Queen's Diary... I have fallen in love with Odin. It is a forbidden love, I know... But the flames of passion obey not rule or reason..."

This is from the SNES version: If Terra is in the FINAL FANTASY VI party at this point, she will have something to say after everyone reads the Queen's Diary. "Love between a human and an Esper..." Yes, that is her defining character trait!

I started out my morning by trying - and failing - to kill a silverfish that was CRAWLING ON MY COMPUTER DESK AND ON ME! Luckily, I wasn't wearing shorts! I bleached the desk later on, then promptly got a headache. Jon sent me an FB message to see if I could come tomorrow instead; I said no because I needed to shower and do laundry. At least he thanked me for letting him know! Then I talked to Vanessa about Krista, and to Tommy about music.

"You Are Cherry"

You are a tough cookie, and you don't let anyone cross you. You are very determined and talented.
Sometimes it takes a while for your hard work to pay off, and that can be frustrating. Eventually, you get the success you deserve.

You are an obvious leader. People tend to immediately put you in charge, and sometimes you are too obliging when it comes to helping out.
You are a stickler for the rules and doing things the right way. You run a tight ship, and people respect you for it.

"You Are Shakshuka"

You love comfort and feeling cozy, but you are also open to new experiences. You crave warmth of all sorts.
You are a bit of an oddball, and you wouldn't have it any other way. You are a person of substance - not just of quirks.

You are a skilled nurturer, both of others and of yourself. You believe that taking care of people is the ultimate goal.
You are a passionate person, and you try to shy away from anything that's a little too average. You make the bold choice when you can.

"You Are Pretty Adaptable"

You know when it's time to be flexible, but you also know when to stand your ground. You assess every situation as it comes.
You've got a lot that's working for you in your life. You're willing to improve, but you're not going to throw it away for the latest thing.

People may say that you should be more adaptable, but it's likely that they just want you to adapt to their ways!
Above all, you tend to be a realist who is living in the present. You know a good opportunity when you see one, but you also can sense when something is a waste of time.

It was COFFEE TIME BY DEFAULT at 7:30 AM this morning. After finding mouse droppings in the kitchen and looking things up online, I went to London Drugs at 10:20 on a 407. Unfortunately, there was an older lady at the bus stop who thought that I wanted to be the recipient of endless talking about when the next bus would get there. I gave her the eminently unhelpful answer of "no" when asked for the time, and an equally unhelpful answer of "five minutes ago" when asked if and when I left my house, hahaha. I also don't flip off drivers THAT often, but WHY WOULD YOU DRIVE INTO A PEDESTRIAN'S PATH WHEN THEY'RE TRYING TO CROSS AT AN UNMARKED CROSSWALK?! Once I finally got to the store, I got index cards / two on-sale jugs of bleach / some zebra duct tape. Then I got home at 10:55 on a 401 and started cleaning / disinfecting / putting duct tape and steel wool in the kitchen.

Today is National Watermelon Day! :D

From Not Always Friendly: Tonda Creel? She's not even black, so I'm not sure what her parents' excuse is here...

From Not Always Working: Priscilla Kida Ferrari?! I know my sister used to know someone around here called Jessica Ferrari..

From Not Always Right: Ben Household?!

From Not Always Right: Brittany Picker?! What if she DOESN'T want to pick things?

From Julie: Reveca?! That's not even the Jewish / Hebrew version of Rebecca, which would be Rebekah...

I saw a dead mouse, so called Barry to see if he could remove it - he said he'd try. I was surprised when there was a knock on the door at about 3:45, which happened to be a Shaw technician. He installed the Wi-Fi router / modem for me, and did a lot of stuff to some wires and cables outside as well, saying that it was still kind of weird. No shit, especially when my digital phone lines get kicked offline! I'm just glad to have Internet access again, so will be focusing on my many screenshots!

From Not Always Friendly: Teal Cyko?!

Marshawn Lynch?!

From I Love Vampires: Tahlequah Rae Pruitt?!

From I Love Vampires: Sequoyah L. Pruitt?! I guess her parents didn't know that a sequoia is a TREE only!

Speaking of tree names, my high school friend Brandi named her daughter Aspen at least 16 years ago...

From Not Always Right: India L. Byess?! India is a country, not a name!

I remember this name from a long-ago piano recital at Lansdowne Mall: Enoch Deer?! I think he had a sister named Patricia, too.

From Not Always Right: Poutrelle Guerremondiale Lequatorzieme?! Mmm, poutine! Poutine, war, and the equator... what could go wrong? Oh yes, "Poutrelle" rhyming with POUBELLE, the French word for "garbage"!

From Not Always Working: Ireneia Mink?! What was wrong with just plain Irene?!

I was up at 6:30 AM, so it was COFFEE TIME BY DEFAULT! My glasses arm broke at approximately 7 AM this morning, so since I was going to go out to the nearby medical clinic anyway (removal for hearing!), I went to Factory Direct / Factory Optical. At least this time, I don't have Korey trying to manipulate me into seeing him instead (and into being "best friends" with Randal) like I did in early January 2008, although white Eric's concern about transit was good! The Canada Line took me to Factory Direct / Factory Optical way sooner than transit did back then, too!

My only problem was being unable to find my spare glasses in any drawer! Before I left, I called the medical clinic to see about their walk-in schedule. I got an appointment at 4:30, so I went out to the glasses place first. It was definitely more convenient to use the Canada Line to bus to Broadway and Ash: just get off at Olympic Village and walk not even half a block! The repair cost $25! I got home at 12:45 on a 407, at least. Then the clinic called me at 4:15 to check whether I was still coming in - of course! Dr. Schmaltz (?) was filling in and did my removal for hearing in an efficient manner, so I got home at 4:50. Not bad!

From Not Always Right: Kiliano Best?!

From Not Always Right: Jonathon Side?! Sorry, but that is an incorrect spelling of Jonathan!

From Not Always Right: Stina Wargo Kolling?! Couldn't her parents have gone with Christina instead?!

From Not Always Right: Storm McCreery Rye?! Makes me think of storm rye whiskey, if there's such a thing!

From Not Always Right: Muh Legy?!
