I left at 1:55 on a 407 to make it to Jon and Harmony's and the store prior to playing with Ayler and Hiero before Thanksgiving Dinner. Since I left so early, I went to Shoppers Drug Mart to see if they had sriracha sauce. They did, as well as on-sale Scaeros / Coffin Crisp / Ghostly Kit-Kats / Scaries, plus NEW Korean BBQ Kettle chips! After that, I walked over to IndigoSpirit to see if they had the newest Bathroom Reader: Uncle John's OLD FAITHFUL 30th Anniversary Bathroom Reader (Bathroom Readers' Institute). They didn't since they were only limited distribution in BC, but I did manage to have someone help me at a kiosk so I could just have the book shipped to me at home this week. It saves me another trip out to the mall even if it is nearby! That took a while, but I still managed to be at Jon's place by maybe about 3:15 or so! Ayler asked me what I'd do if they moved downtown - well, I would probably take the train and the bus out to wherever they would be living!

The boys fought with each other as usual (and Hiero fell off the couch's armrest!), but I might have distracted them with the promise of reading to them. Ayler asked if he could sit on my lap, which was fine until my legs started falling asleep. There was a kiddy book with Legos to describe Bible stories, Chinese characters books, a Taan Moon book, a body book, and other things. Randal came over for a piano lesson and stayed for dinner afterwards. Dinner was beef stew with tendons, carrots, and typical Pho garnishes like bean sprouts (and Vietnamese subs!), plus an apricot / grain salad with feta and ricotta cheeses... so non-traditional, but still good! Probably a good thing that I have a turkey backup here at home! Jeremy came over later, which livened the evening up and made it more silly. We talked about Jeremy's cold, baby Henry's banquet (Jon can't attend because of Stanley's wedding on November 19 - but he doesn't even know what he's doing for it?!), Fred becoming a cop in Toronto (and seeing "shades of grey" in morality), the Whip, 12 Kings, Jen being way more conservative / less liberal than she was when we met her, documentaries, Tom Petty, Youtube jams, C+C Music Factory, LL Cool J, Ace of Base, pissing off Auntie Wylene with Salt-N-Pepa and Green Day back in 1994, Bob Dylan / Keith Richards, Silverchair, Bush, and seeing how much the kids knew about fall. We told them that Canadian Thanksgiving was in October and the United States had theirs in November, wanted to know if the leaves would turn blue, and generally had fun with them.

Ayler wanted to tie knots with his Vietnamese noodles, while Hiero wanted to bite the very hard pomelo rind to see if he could eat it that way. That's not how those things work! I saw a kindergarten worksheet with a colorful turkey on it - Ayler had managed to write his own name on it in a reasonably legible fashion! Jeremy brought up the possibility of becoming pregnant when you're already pregnant, so I said that of course there was a name for that: SUPERFETATION! Then he said that it sounded like I got that from a Bathroom Reader: he's SO RIGHT! Of course I had to tell them that I ordered the newest one to ship to my place! At about 7, I left after watching Hiero play train tracks by himself, bidding Jeremy a good night and thanking Jon and Harmony for the dinner. Jon actually thanked me for hanging out early with the kids, surprisingly. Harmony said that it was still pretty stressful since they haven't found a new location to move to yet, and they only have three weeks left in this place!

Ayler and Hiero also surprised me by wanting hugs before I left, so of course I obliged. I would NOT do "falling hugs" as Ayler wanted, though. Why? BECAUSE THEY WOULD HURT! On my way home, I decided to stop by the Oakridge Safeway to see if they had a "fabled" chicken-bacon-ranch sandwich as Milan Penner (Jen now has the same last name as she does!) had told me about YEARS ago in CANUCKS NATION or whatever the group chat was called then. I'd forgotten about that till Jimmy said something about it in Facebook messenger recently since she wants to meet him at some point. The Safeway did have made-to-order sandwiches at the deli, which was good enough for me. The sandwich even had guacamole, and I was also able to pay for a second bottle of sriracha sauce right there at the deli counter instead of having to go to the cash register just for that. I got home at 8:20 on a 407, and talked to the Canucks fan chat and Discord for a bit. Now, bedtime!

I went out to Richmond Centre at 11:30 to see if I could get relatively inexpensive new sneakers from Payless, and I got some CHAMPION Size 6 shoes for $40. I'd rather pay more for a pair that doesn't make me feel like my feet are going to (halfway) slip and fall out of my shoes at any given step! Then I went to Shoppers to get an on-sale T&T beef teriyaki sushi roll for lunch (since it expires tomorrow), and ate that at the food court. After checking my chequing account balance at the bank machine, I got on a 407 at 1:20 and dropped by the pharmacy next door to see if I could get my prescription refill for my birth control before the long weekend, and I did!

Last night, Jon said that I was welcome to come over for lunch, and that physio was at 2:15. Sounded good to me, as I could get my Compass Card back that way, as well as spend more time with the kids! Time to put the thing in my wallet instead of my pocket while I'm out of the house! I got to the house early, but at least I could spend some quiet time to chill. When Jon and the boys got back from an appointment, we had chicken and tofu tacos for lunch before going to physio. The boys had fun making up bus stops (Steveston and Portland / Seattle / Surrey?!), and imitating the "BEEP BEEP BEEP" of the wheelchair ramps around here! Jon asked me how white Eric was; you see him more often than I do! Apparently, someone has set up a birthday dinner for him at Jeremy's on Sunday, but I haven't gotten any emails about it. I guess he's pretty busy! Later, Jon asked if Chinese Eric had any friends; I have no idea since even HE had to work on his own birthday!

We talked about Jeremy and his going down to Corvallis (Oregon) to see the solar eclipse with Christon and white Eric last week, my emailing Kevin some birthday wishes, whether they'd sent Fraser anything for his birthday ("oops"), my doing some dishes after a dinner of corn chowder and bread, Penny the speech therapist, Beck / Weird Al making me think of Jeremy, the Dead Kennedys, zone strategies, and September scheduling. When I got home at 7:45 on a 407, I finally registered the Compass Card online! Jimmy had messaged me this morning, but I'd ignored it in favor of doing my own thing, especially because of last night's lyrics debacle which HE could have easily prevented. Tommy's just messaged me as well, but I'll ignore that for certain.

It's WORLD MUSHROOM DAY today! :D

I paid my Shaw and hydro bills online after I showered and made some mushroom soup. No time for my pasta specialty if I had to make it to Jon and Harmony's at 12:30 or so on two cups of coffee! I got there at about 12:45 or so, declined lunch, and ate a piece of interesting mango chocolate for dessert instead. I played with the boys and their toy trains and arches, while answering "no" to the question of whether I lived on the Golden Gate Bridge! Eventually, we got going to the Family Centre drop-in with Harmony soon after she got home. I'm sure she would love some quiet time to herself, but that wasn't really an option. We talked about the summer and fall, my eventual birthday dinner, the hot weather, my shorts, chalk drawings, whether I'd stay for dinner, putting stickers on kites, chalk drawings at home being better than a hot playground, physio, and ratatouille / tabouli / spaghetti / THE ANTS GO MARCHING. Youtube videos, Ayler being able to serve himself after I finally got him some dinner because Hiero was having a meltdown, cantaloupe, bathroom time, beans, and emotions being okay.

Once I left at 6, I went to Oakridge Station before figuring out that I didn't have my bus pass, so went straight back to the house. It wasn't there, but it could be at the Physio Centre bathroom. Jon gave me some change for a one-time Compass Card, and Harmony called around for me. I finally got home at 7:40 on a 401, slow jabronies on the train notwithstanding. Get your kids and crap together BEFORE the train pulls into the station, people!

After MORE COFFEE TIME, I left for Jon and Harmony's at 2. I stopped by the Kam Do Bakery to get a BBQ pork bun to eat on the train, then got to the house at 2:45 or so, right on time. I was delayed a couple of minutes by some neighbor lady with a dog who recognized me from Mom's Facebook photos. I didn't really mind talking to her, though. At least the door was open, probably because it was pretty hot outside! When Jon asked, I requested some water. The kids were eating some snacks when I got there: Hiero offered me his peach pit (no thanks!) and Ayler told me that they didn't have any more BBQ pork buns. That's fine, as I'd just eaten one! Then came the usual questions about how long ago and what time I'd eaten it, along with Ayler reciting all the Canada Line stations up to Olympic Village. He's getting smart!

While Jon's music student Justin was over, the kids were pretty loud, but made "gas stations" out of bristle blocks ("Gas gas gas!"), offered me grapes from their plate (sure!), made long trains, and put some tiny playing cards in numerical order. Apparently, they got them from the hospital ("not blood draws - a vaccine!") a couple weeks ago. At least they're not being taught how to gamble yet! Ayler also wanted me to stay for dinner, so I said I'd think about it. Hiero pointed out some holes in my socks - I swear I just bought them, but who knows? I'll just have to get some more later! Ayler asked me whether Jon would have two more music students; I had no idea! Hiero wanted me to read a book about 100 vehicles to him - sure, why not? It's better than fighting with your brother over toy trains and train tracks!

When Justin left, they "gave" him some train tracks, which he of course put back when they weren't looking. Easy to do! When the kids weren't there, I put back the noisy xylophone and the hammer to go with it, but Ayler was okay with catching the balls with his hand. Jon noticed and thanked me, then a woman came over for a piano lesson. Harmony got home and also invited me to stay for dinner, which was ratatouille / zucchini / corn on the cob. Harmony got home and also invited me to stay for dinner, which was ratatouille / zucchini / corn on the cob. She said that she was thinking about taking the kids to the Family Centre, the park, and then to physio on Wednesday, so my coming over around 12:30 would be good. No time for anything but mushroom soup, then!

Ayler said that we could eat the zucchini seeds, and I offered an apologetic "sorry" to Jon and that other student when Hiero squealed at seeing the corn on the cob. "Corn excitement over here!" Then Ayler said that I could stay for "the ice cream" - cute! Ayler thought that Randal would come over - who knows? He did, though. Hiero told me that Uncle Randal was there, so I asked how he knew. Apparently, he heard Randal's voice. Randal was indeed over for music lessons, and he said hi to me. To be polite, I offered him a frosty Hello back. Whatever, I don't care what the kids think. Then Ayler wondered if he'd eaten yet and whether he'd eat later. I said he might eat later if he hadn't already. Ayler asked why he was reading, so I said that he was probably doing it because he liked reading just like me. That's fine for me, but that's all I'm willing to concede.

Harmony brought out one Easter egg each for the kids (which she'd apparently forgotten about for some time), and Ayler asked why I wasn't having any. I had some chocolate at home already, I told him. Harmony said that I could go after dinner, which was fine by me. I actually had to put down my dinner bowl because Ayler requested a hug before I left, which is totally fine. Ayler also wanted me to stay overnight, so I asked him where I'd sleep. "Share Daddy's pillow!" was the answer I got. I told Harmony that she might want to explain why I could NOT sleep in the same bed as Jon, then left after saying bye to everyone except Randal. If the kids notice and say something, whatever. At 7:15, I was home on a 407, and fielded an email from ERIC HO saying that he'd even had to work on his birthday last week! Poor guy! He wants to catch a Lions game, but I looked at the schedule and the only near ones are in September! Not doable if he wants to hang out as August winds down!

After (MORE) COFFEE TIME, I left at 11:40 AM on a 407 to make it to Jon and Harmony's at 12:15 or so. Apparently, nobody was home, but I heard Ayler's voice a couple of minutes later from the car. Jon made a comment about my San Francisco shirt - yeah, it's pretty noticeable, but I don't care. I entertained the kids while Jon went to Anna's Cake House to get various bakery items for lunch before his violin student Justin came over. They wanted me to read a Chinese vocabulary book and a RUN SALMON RUN book. I helped the kids eat lunch, and made Hiero eat some pork bun to get some protein. No, you're not eating a "meal" that is 98% cantaloupe and cherries! Ayler kept asking me what time Harmony would be home if she was in Kerrisdale or UBC since she got off work early; no idea! Harmony did get home later, when Jon was teaching and telling the boys to listen to me. At least I told them that fact about the 35.4-mile tunnel in Sweden, to which Ayler's only question was "how many hours does it take to get there?" Probably a long time! Harmony mentioned that Ayler had physio, so I could keep Hiero occupied with the toys there. Sure, why not? I sat on a chair there and it BROKE! The owner (Laura) came out to see whether I'd fallen, and the receptionist and other people there seemed concerned too. Apparently, it was a hardware fault which should never have been there. Maybe, maybe not!

We talked about roller coasters and "BUS!" (lots of 8 Fraser buses!) on the short walk to Robson Park from the physio clinic. While there, Ayler wanted to take some other little girls' grapes AND toy buckets! We got a bunch of Vietnamese sandwiches for dinner so we could have something besides blackberries. If Hiero had his way, he'd eat 90% blackberries for dinner - NO! Ayler asked how many hours it would be until I left, then wanted me to stay seven more hours at 7 PM. No, because you'd go to bed soon, and I want to definitely be home way before 1:30-2 AM when the trains and buses stop regular service! When Jon was teaching a piano student named Curtis, I helped to keep Hiero occupied with the "tunnels and arches." I actually got home at 8:05 on a 407, which is relatively efficient at least!

I got the suite inspector guy (who said that the sink was losing its shine - DUH?!) to help me remove that dead mouse on the glue trap behind the couch. No, he was not allowed to put it in the kitchen garbage can! I had readied a London Drugs plastic bag (and rubber gloves if needed) for that purpose earlier! Ni said again that the pest control would come by next month, so I called him on that. Apparently, he'd forgotten that it was now August. Still, I shouldn't have to live with that for weeks! I went out to throw the London Drugs plastic bag in the dumpster outside, then liberally applied white vinegar to that area of the carpet. Then I went to KFC at Richmond Centre for two chicken wings because of CHICKEN WING DAY, which proved to be more expensive overall at $5.55 than six pieces for $9. Eric M. called me at 11:30 from church to say that he wouldn't be going back to Richmond, but could give me a ride back from Jeremy's. Sure, I can bus there, and I didn't have to leave the house really early at 2 PM! That gave me more time to do stuff! After COFFEE TIME (during which I almost left with my pants on backwards), I left the house at 4, and killed a slight bit of time at Kingsgate Mall. The Books, Etc. store is now 90% DVDs and puzzles! I bought NEW Moscow Mule Kettle chips, OXO beef bouillon sachets, and a Hot Beef Pho Mr. Noodles bowl from Buy-Low Foods before walking over to Jeremy's at 5:15 or so. Unfortunately, I had to see my ex-friend Randal, who mentioned to Jon's friend Mallory that he has "a passion for God and wants it to show at work" - THAT'S NOT WHAT YOU DO! I can't believe I ever liked him!

I said hi to Julie S., Ivan, Emily, Sam, Quan, Gino, Kevin, and Caleb after meeting Jon's other friend Eric (from Jacob's Well) / Angel / Mallory. Then I talked to Stanley about my 90% whiskey, his band, Peter Gabriel, the CODEX, weird acoustic dubstep, and the whiskey. I updated both Jesse and Jon's friend Rebecca about my life recently, and talked about the summer / no editing for Holly / not doing well with change / all this unknown stuff possibly impacting people's recovery (Rebecca said that my point was a very good one which she hadn't thought about before), Jacob's Well needing $50,000 and already raising $42,000 in two weeks / all my nephews loving me ("You have to stay longer! Stay all night!") / Ontario hydro bills. One guy in a Youtube / NPR video even had a traffic cone inside his saxophone, haha! Eric and I left early (after I paid $10 and he made a comment about my chips), and I got home at 9:05.

Then I noticed that Chinese Eric had called me at 5:45, so I called him back at 10. He had called me by accident, but he wanted to see if I was up for seeing a Blue Jays-Mariners game this weekend. I thought he meant a literal road trip, but thank goodness he didn't. He says it's been eight months (really six or so) since we hung out here; he's been busy and apparently had a problem with his Hotmail account, but didn't really specify what. (but did say that he had 3500 emails to sort through... JUST DELETE THEM!) We also talked about heat, a sauna, the 162-game MLB schedule, and catching up later. Hopefully, I don't have to do anything else after next Sunday for quite a while! DRAINING!

I said that I would hopefully be having dinner with Chrystal at some point, would go to Jeremy's for that Jacob's Well fundraiser, mentioned that I'd seen a PEPPA THE PIG book at London Drugs (they have a whole set), said that Hiero needs to eat more protein (1.5 tiny mandarin oranges is not really a proper dinner...), said that Ayler now understands the concept of a square root! Steph said that Sandy still had her food truck breakfast business, mentioned that Fraser could definitely go in the pool with help and supervision later in the year (I can see the older kids not paying attention to him!), says that Fraser likes watching the older kids to observe what they do, and had to go when Fraser wondered why Lisa was in the washroom after getting home. I had Hiero's peace sign / ice cream / cupcake / doughnut / SESAME STREET / cats with sunglasses stickers and Ayler's emoji / stars / glow-in-the-dark MARVEL Heroes stickers, dinosaur birthday card, Slinky toy, and pre-historic dinosaur toys. Uncle Joe and Auntie Wing Yee were at the house as advertised, and asked if I was staying for an early and simple dinner of rice / broccoli / meat / water. Sure, why not? Ayler asked "why" questions a lot (like "why did Auntie make that face?" Because I had to sneeze!), and he apparently understands the concept of a square root already if you phrase it correctly! Both Harmony and I do not do math, so he'll have to figure it out some other way! Then he asked, "Why did Grandpa say DIE?" and some other things!

At least both boys seemed to love the Slinky (which is higher than them when stretched out), and took a couple of dinosaur toys to the Jacob's Well concert later on. (which I declined to attend) Hiero wanted me to lift him up from his eating chair after he was done eating a tiny mandarin orange for dinner, so I did that. He gave me a few stickers on my jeans, and Ayler talked a lot about the tunnels and ramps at Marine Drive. Hey, I know those because I went past there on the Skytrain to see everyone! At least I managed to get home at 7:20 on a 407, then talked to Lena on FB chat about special snowflakes and pronouns and edgy disrespect from a "friend"!

From Discord: This made me laugh yesterday. No, "Nephew #2" is NOT what I call my crappy nephew! Hahaha!

After I had COFFEE TIME and called London Drugs customer service to find out when their current sale ends on Rubbermaid dish drainers (May 28), Barry picked me up at 12:45 and we went banking and to Price Smart. I bought on-sale Classico pasta sauce x2 (Four Cheese and Tomato / Pesto), noodles, a shower pouf, Teriyaki Rice / Noodles Sidekicks, preserved vegetables, on-sale Cheemo perogies x2 (Country Mushroom and Potato / Bacon / Romano Cheese), pork and tri-treasure / lamb and onion / pork and vegetable / pork and chives JOY dumplings at the Big Crazy price (which saves me a trip out there if it's the same price), on-sale store brand paper towels, and JML chicken and mushroom noodles. I also got on-sale Western Family French Vanilla ice cream, NEW Pillsbury poutine Pizza Pops in a special edition (I love the alliteration!), NEW Pillsbury cheese pizza bites, NEW Pillsbury pepperoni pizza bites, Juzz Mee curry noodles, a BC roll for $3.99 (better than the 22-piece $10.99 assorted rolls if the expiry date is still tomorrow, May 25), Vedan noodles x2 (Spicy Mushroom / Cuttlefish and Mushroom), and on-sale Ruffles chips x3. (Loaded Potato Skins / Sour Cream and Bacon / All-Dressed) I also saw preserved Cordia seeds while I was in the Chinese jars aisle, so made a note of that to tell Citrus so he can tell his sister.

While I was at the store, I helped a random white guy with some Nissin black garlic oil noodles, and told an old grandma that her shawl looked pretty. (it had Japanese women with fans on it!) She at least thanked me! When I got home at 2:10, Barry did agree to help me with changing the batteries on the phone in my bedroom, which is good. Afterwards, I paid my Shaw bill online today, then somehow unplugged my computer speakers while trying to figure some stuff out! My cashier recognized me, and so we chatted a bit - his name is Ray, and he has a white half-beard thing. I left again at 6:30 to London Drugs, where I got a new on-sale dish drainer (April 11, 2015) on Aisle 1 / on-sale purple GUM Comfort Slide flossers since today was the last day of their being on sale currently / an on-sale Slinky toy plus an on-sale Redbox pre-historic dinosaur toy set with trees (#24359) for Ayler's birthday.

I got a much more helpful computer associate this time (yesterday's associate had told me to go to the front for checkout and didn't seem interested in customer service), who sold me a black Microsoft Wired 600 keyboard for $20. Thank goodness it worked when I got home at 8:30 (just missing a 407 and having to wait for the next one), after a mini heart attack when it initially wouldn't work to put in my password at startup! This one is quieter and much lighter, too! Time to email Harmony to see when a good time would be to drop off the gifts, or see Ayler too, I guess. NOW MY MOUSE AND KEYBOARD ARE FREE OF MIKE AND HIS TAINT!

From the Staples Canada Facebook wall: a six-pack of Cross fountain pen ink cartridge refills and a five-pack of Parker Quink ink cartridge refills with fountain permanent ink are $999,999.99 each?!

Pasta sauce and toys and chips, oh my! )

Apparently, there was a lunch at the lards' place today, so it was COFFEE TIME before I left at 10 to do some quick shopping at London Drugs: a new coffee mug, new Glacier Speed Stick deodorant to replace my Speed Stick with Irish Spring deodorant from 7 July 2015, new store brand lemon dish detergent, and a new $5 book about 100 animals for Fraser. Luckily, Steph could pick me up from King Edward station! Lisa was at least a little bit late, but that was okay: she said that Steph's ceremony yesterday was moderately boring, but that was okay. We had congee, macaroni and ham, plus Chinese doughnuts for lunch while talking about Auntie Eva / Auntie Paula / Harmony / Ayler / Hiero / Jon and transit / Stanley / Ben and Erin / Daniel and Michelle / their seeing Melia on Wednesday ("we should have invited your sister!"), Darren C. getting married, childhood photos, the old childhood stove and tiny chairs, booking Mom and Dad's flights online, a small dinosaur, Anita T. getting married, Fraser's naptime, nursing, Uncle Percy almost being 100, Auntie Eileen / Auntie Evie, Uncle Eric, and Fraser crying a lot. He seemed to like the book and held my hand when we were going to the elevator (where I lifted him up to reach the CALL CAR button so he could make it light up), at least! (and said "A-ma" a few times) I got home at 4:25 on a 407, which is good. It seems like Mom and Dad are going to Hong Kong and Japan soon, so GOOD FOR MORE ME TIME. Maybe I'll even make it to church, hahaha.

Random stuff from Mom and Dad: a Dignity funeral home mint, a small knitted black-and-white scarf, a small knitted black-and-white toque, a five-pack of Indomie Mi Goreng stir-fried instant noodles which expires on June 5, two Christmas Mix packs of Coconut / Red Apple / Very Cherry / Green Apple Jelly Belly jellybeans, and a five-pack of Wujiang brand preserved vegetables.
