THERE WAS ANOTHER WATER SHUTOFF TODAY - NOT IMPRESSED! After I had COFFEE TIME and fielded an early-morning phone call from Megan at the Burrard eye clinic (Dr. Wise wants to see me this week to check her lens choice?! Friday it is...), Barry picked me up at 11 and we went banking and to Price Smart. I got bananas, on-sale Silk vanilla almond milk, on-sale Nissin noodles x4 (XO Sauce / seafood / black garlic oil / sesame oil), Koka Noodles x2 (Spicy Black Pepper / Tomato), on-sale Uncle Ben's rice x3 (Smokey Flavor / Tomato and Herb / Mushroom Wild rice), MAGGI LETUP / Maggi Kari Letup noodles, and one litre of NEW on-sale Yamasa soy sauce which expires in late October 2020 (I was able to pull off the annoying tab in the store!) / NEW Allen's Vinegar 500 mL of malt vinegar (crammed with the white vinegar and red vinegar on the Western side of Price Smart) / 700 grams of on-sale Laoganma spicy chili crisp oil for DUMPLING SAUCE! (my jar opener thankfully worked on that when I got home!)

Also bought on-sale Brookside Chocolate x2 (Blackberry and Honey / Pomegranate), NEW on-sale Peace Tea cans x2 (Sno-Berry / Mango Green Tea), Lucky Me! Mami Beef Noodles, one Stouffer's Sauté Sensations microwaveable meal (Grilled Chicken Teriyaki), Western Family frozen veggies in the BIG bag, NEW Olympic Dairy small yogurt tubs x3 (Fig Honey / Citrus Cardamom / Smoked Applewood Vanilla - each 325 grams), Puritan canned Irish stew, on-sale JOY dumplings x5 for the Big Crazy price of $4.99 per bag (the last five available - Pork and Vegetable x2 / Lamb and Onion x2 / Pork and Chive), NEW on-sale Tropical Salsa Kettle Chips, and on-sale mint Oreo cookies. I think I'm looking forward to all the snack food! Haha!

Additional purchases: On-sale Old Dutch Humpty Dumpty cheese sticks (Habanero and Blue Cheese!), on-sale Excel spearmint Soft Chew gum x3, on-sale Western Family bottled water x12 (gotta keep ahead of all these sudden and unexpected water shutoffs around here lately...), Ben and Jerry's Moophoria ice cream x2 (Peanut Butter Cookie Dough to replace the one that Paulo ate last week on Thursday even though he says he owes me / NEW Caramel Cookie Fix), NEW on-sale Hardbite chips x3 (Sweet Ghost Pepper / Avocado and Lime / Black Sea Salt), NEW on-sale Ruffles Flaming Hot BBQ chips, and NEW Campbell's Everyday Gourmet Asparagus and Sweet Basil soup. I got Ray as my cashier, and Barry made a comment about how it took me two hours at the store. I wasn't expecting to take 20 minutes to find the malt vinegar, no thanks to some employees there! After I got home at 12:55, I paid my Shaw and hydro bills online. Then I waited out the water shutoff - it was back on by 5:30, THANK GOODNESS!

COFFEE TIME! The Canucks played the Predators at 5 today in their penultimate game of the 2018-2019 NHL season, and lost 3-2 after being up 2-0. UGH!

After COFFEE TIME, I discovered a TOILET TANK EMERGENCY! It wouldn't flush, which was NOT ideal because Chinese Eric is coming over tomorrow! Besides, I really didn't want to go across the street every time I needed to pee! So I bit the bullet and called Hester a few minutes later since I needed to leave at 2, who scolded me for not being perfectly polite and composed on the phone AND for not writing a note. Fuck off - I have to deal with YOUR limited English, and I don't have TIME to write a note to have you deal with the problem after the weekend! Eventually, I managed to communicate that the toilet flush wasn't working, and Ni came by within ten minutes and actually fixed the issues. In that time, Brian had already offered to come over - THIS is what my new friends do for me?! WOW! :D

I left at 2 on a 414 to see Rachel at the Caring Place. Then I went to Shoppers to buy a Stouffer's Saute Sensations Country Beef Pot Roast microwaveable meal, a President's Choice meat lasagna for a future hangout which is not tomorrow afternoon (expires on December 12), Ben and Jerry's Peanut Butter Cookie Dough / Chocolate Milk and Cookies ice cream, Breyers Delights ice cream in Vanilla Cupcake plus Creamy Chocolate, and President's Choice mango ice cream! Should be yummy!

After I FINALLY got a 401 after FOUR 408 Ironwood buses in a row and a 407 at Brighouse after waiting since 4:10, I went to the pharmacy next door to see if I could get my eyedrops prescription filled before they closed. Adam could do it right then, but I didn't have time to chat or to wait for the previous chatty customer to finish because I had frozen things in my bag, so I was in a rush by default! The instructions are the same, anyway. I got home at 4:45 and FINALLY shoved everything into the freezer, almost before the items started really melting! Good thing I can probably get Chinese Eric to help with opening the eyedrops tomorrow if I remember... so I put them on the table with the low-tech blue guestbook and everything else!

After I had COFFEE TIME, Barry picked me up at 10:50 and we went banking and to Price Smart. I got NEW on-sale Samyang curry terrorist noodles, Cottonelle toilet paper x2, on-sale Sidekicks x6 (Creamy Bacon Carbonara / Garlic Butter with Lemon / Creamy Chicken Fusilli / Three-Cheese / Homestyle Cheddar / Tomato Alfredo), Ferrero Rocher hazelnut Easter eggs and NEW Easter Egg Oreos for Eric Ho and me, NEW Dark Chocolate Oreo cookies, Crayola Original washable markers x2 (yay for felts!), on-sale Good Taste dumplings x5 (Cabbage and Pork / Pork and Celery / Cabbage and Chicken / Beef and Vegetable / Pork and Chive), and NEW Dawn Lavender Wisp dish detergent.

Also got bananas, Finesse Daily Renewal shampoo and conditioner, on-sale Western Family garbage bags (60 to a box!), Western Family Skyr yogurt x2 (plain and vanilla!), Nongshim Kamja Tang Myun rich potato noodles, NEW Palmolive Soft Touch dish detergent x2 (Almond Milk and Blueberry / Coconut Butter and Orchid), on-sale Uncle Ben's rice x3 (Tomato and Herb / Cilantro and Lime / Southwest Style) and NEW St. Ives Oatmeal and Shea Butter soothing body wash. Later, I paid my Shaw bill online at home. The Canucks played the Senators at 7 tonight, and won 7-4 after practically blowing a 5-0 lead in the third.

Yesterday, I called Chinese Eric to see if he could give me a ride to Jeremy's or back home. He called me back on his lunch break (at 1:20 BEFORE I left to see Rachel), and he was planning to take transit to work at the Art Gallery and then go straight to Jeremy's. I hoped Kevin could drive me to Broadway Station again since white Eric can't make it because of his hockey commitments! I had to leave really early for Jeremy's place because I had to walk to Brighouse station - thanks, endless sewer upgrades and construction! Luckily, I found an in-service bus stop at Alderbridge, so I killed time at Shoppers, buying Korean BBQ Kettle Chips x3 and some Nair. FUCKING JIMMY! Got to Dude Chilling Park at 6:10, which was slightly early. Kingsgate Mall was closing, too.

I met up with Jeremy (so we could all see his new flooring / baseboards and test some marbles on it), Christon, Kevin, Chinese Eric, and Randal. Christon made some pulled pork, chicken and coleslaw. We had my Indomie Mi Goreng chips / various beers (like the cocoa / vanilla Winter Ale) / salsa / Que Pasa chips, called Eric Ho to see where he was, figured out the long wifi password (which Jeremy didn't think much of at first - but then realized he'd never seen me with a smartphone before), discussed my eye surgeries and Jeremy's nose surgery / Huawei / the Rugby Sevens / Uniqlo / Muji / Daiso / real estate / wedding planning / people with 4400 to 5000 Facebook friends, the Lucky Charms Saturday Morning beer for St. Patrick's Day, and waited for Jon to get there even later. I wanted to go home at 10, but nope - I had to wait for 45 more minutes, despite Chinese Eric wanting to head home right after the game ended at 9:30!

Jeremy loved the blurb for the Lucky Charms beer and laughed at it, at least! Kevin did indeed drive me to Broadway Station, while Jon and Chinese Eric got rides back home from Randal. Yeah, that wasn't too bad. I ended up getting home at around midnight on a 401 (passing up a 407 at Brighouse), and was surprised that I was still somewhat awake, since I'd gone to bed at 9:45 yesterday. I did make myself some hot chocolate to warm up from the cold weather. The Canucks played the Knights at 7 tonight, and lost 6-2. Not good if it was 5-1 at the end of the first... 3-0 after the first twelve minutes!

I went shopping at 12:35 today, having to walk to London Drugs because the endless construction and sewer upgrades have made the nearby bus stops non-operational. Had to rest twice in fifteen minutes! Bought letter stickers / Lysol wipes x80 / on-sale Cepacol throat drops / Carrot Cake Oreos / Salsitas chips, then decided to go to the Bay across the street and get a dark blue cotton towel. I finally got home at 2:45, and plan to take a shower later.

After COFFEE TIME, I had to get ready to leave by 11 for Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot at Lansdowne for a lunch with Mom and Dad. Fatty beef, lamb shoulder, Napa cabbage, white noodles, tofu, yams, vegetable and pork dumplings, deep-fried chicken wings, cod fillets, shrimp balls, beef balls, fish balls, tiger prawns, broth, an iced sour plum drink, and tea! Mom complained that they had seen bus stops around my place - yeah, but that doesn't mean they are in service right now! Dad "helped" with my phone's data and wifi settings. Yes, I know Harmony's family birthday is the 10th somewhere. I'll confirm things with Jon in a few days; no need to rush and be impatient about things! They dropped me off at London Drugs, so I walked home and got in at 12:45.

Random stuff from Mom and Dad: $10 cash, Maggi Masala Indian instant noodles x2 which have already expired as of February 3, Nosh and Co. Munch Madness cheddar and sour cream chips, GIM roasted seasoned seaweed x10, a Want Want gift pack (a box of strawberry Lovely Puffs / five small bags of orange QQ Gummies / a box of round chocolate sticks / a bag of milk candy), No Name chicken instant noodle packages x6, No Name chicken cup noodles, Paldo (팔도 (Paldo)) hot and spicy cup noodles, a package of Nissin chicken instant noodles x5, a packet of Wing's Foods hot chili sauce, President's Choice ginger-peach teabags x18, and organic Nighty Night Traditional Relaxation Teas teabags x4.

After COFFEE TIME, I went to the eye clinic by 11:45 (busing at 11 on a 401, which I got to JUST IN TIME) for an eye pressure test, but I was 25 minutes late because of snow and transit delays, NOT helped by SOMEONE thinking we had infinite time to exit the elevator at Brighouse station! It won't be 20/20 vision or anything with the other surgery, but the doctor is okay with how things are going so far. I decided to take a business card for my home use: IN THE COSMETICS BAG BY THE COMPUTER FOR EASIER ACCESS! I'm sure they have a thousand of those things! While I was out anyway, I decided just to kill time at Oakridge. Thank goodness the snow was melting because of the rain since the temperature had warmed up a bit! I found that the best wifi signal was near the food court (where I had some Pho), and definitely not at Safeway or the library!

I got NEW Pringles Groovz in Applewood Smoked Cheddar flavor, small bottles of Vaseline x2 in Cocoa Radiant Cocoa Butter / Aloe Vera, Flaming Hot Cheetos, and Jalapeno Cheddar Cheetos at Safeway. Also read a bit and talked to people on Discord, as you do. I also went to Wireless Wave to find out why my Internet data was frozen - apparently, I wasn't allowed to have any, which explains some things, but at least I can still seemingly take advantage of Wifi and Shaw Open!

We talked about her mom, Sophie, not saying hi to David yet after a year (sit in their pew!), her brother helping out, the new caregiver from church, the new worship team and their new style of songs, Belinda's new snowblower for Toronto weather, my eye surgeries, and going to No Frills later only to find that the Becel avocado oil margarine was sold out. Ugh, I'll just get it some other time since I was not in the mood to walk anymore once I got into Richmond. Got home at 7:55 on a 401, and the sidewalks were just as clear as they'd been this morning as I tried "safely running" for the bus. Yes, of course I'm a good listener as Anita told me all those years ago, and Frances affirmed tonight. I told her to look up Edward Rutherfurd if she wanted to read more historical fiction, ha!

I called Dr. Wise's office at 11:15 because I'd run out of the Prolensa and Simbrinza eyedrops, and I'm starting to really feel a difference. I had to rest today because my eyes felt really weird like they did right after surgery. Luckily, I could pick them up this afternoon (being a Friday) before they closed at 4. I got there at 2:10 or so, and even got them to open ALL the ridiculously tiny eyedrops bottles x4 for me! PHEW!

On my way home, I just missed a Brighouse train from Yaletown-Roundhouse (where I FINALLY found the elevator to bypass the stairs), so I took a Waterfront train to stay on there so I could go to Broadway Station. I went to No Frills where I was confused by the self-checkout machine, which is nothing new. At least I got help! Bought three pounds of Parkay margarine (which I haven't bought since April 25, 2018?!) and President's Choice Kettle-Cooked Jalapeno chips. I stopped by the pharmacy next door after getting off a 401 at 3:40, and also refilled my birth control pills prescription. Everything is done - YAY!

Then Eric Ho FINALLY emailed me back to say that he's glad my eye surgery and recovery are going well, and we can get together around February 26 or a little later. Does he not know what an expiry date or deadline for the Boston Pizza Online offer is?! I want my free Bandera Pizza Bread, dammit! I'll just splurge and order delivery tonight since I somehow have more extra money in my bank account... I don't trust him to not come over before the offer expires. I eventually settled on a medium BBQ chicken pizza (which I haven't had since September 2016), a medium Meateor pizza for 50% off (which I haven't had since the last time I had pizza in August 2018 for Chinese Eric's birthday), and my free Bandera Pizza Bread with dips and cheese. There goes $57!

I was out of my place at 5:20 when Deb called to see if it was a good time to pick me up on the way to grab the kids from wherever they were after school. Sure, why not? We went to Hugh Boyd where Declan was; Dylan had picked Elysse up earlier since he'd felt sick at work at 2 or so. Declan demonstrated some good reading skills when we waited for Deb at Seafair Complex before getting some gas for the car. Yeah, the sushi and tempura is a good place to start. He told me that he would let his wife choose the names for their future kids - solid choice, my friend! I'm sure he'd like to try Subway sometime, too. As soon as we got home, the kids started talking about negotiating iPad time and toy time - nice!

We had very slightly spicy chicken wings, rice, bass fish, and bok choy for dinner after watching SAMURAI RANGERS and MINECRAFT. Declan wanted to show me his musical SAMURAI RANGERS sword, which is fine. Elysse insisted on watching GLITTER FORCE with GLITTER FORCE MAKEOVER on the iPad during dinner. When she asked me about my cellphone, I said that I'd received it from my dad. Her answer: "DID HE DIE?!" HAHAHAHA, how amusingly morbid!

I discovered redrum last night - UGH! After I had COFFEE TIME, Barry picked me up at 11:50 and we went banking and to Price Smart. I got on-sale Uncle Ben's rice x3 (Mushroom / Tomato and Herb / Jambalaya), Nissin black garlic oil noodles / BulJjamppong Korean beef seafood noodles / Paldo Volcano Chicken noodles / Nongshim Kamja Tang Myun rich potato noodles, NEW on-sale Charlotte's holiday butter cookies ($2 more for 430 grams vs. 340 grams for Royal Dansk), on-sale toys for Hiero's birthday presents where the original price even beats the Amazon price (EMOJI MOVIE Memory matching card game / Mega Bloks Smash Stunt Zeg truck), on-sale Cottonelle toilet paper x2, on-sale spearmint Dentyne gum, and Hainanese chicken which expires on the 23rd.

I also got NEW Oikos pineapple Greek yogurt, NEW Danone Oikos Lemon Meringue Creations Greek yogurt, JOY dumplings x6 (Lamb and Onion / Tri-Treasure / Pork and Chive / Pork and Vegetable), on-sale Liberté Skyr Icelandic-style yogurt x3 (plain / raspberry / vanilla bean - so I don't have to go all the way to Superstore for it right now!), soft Chips Ahoy cookies (original and peanut butter), on-sale Campbell's Chunky Soup (Chicken Sausage Gumbo and Creamy Chicken Noodle), and on-sale unsweetened Silk almond milk. We had to go back to Coast Capital (discussing Joy Division and the Clash and hockey fights) because my debit card came up with a "CAN'T PROCESS" error at the store! Ugh! At least I LUCKILY had the $180 cash to pay for my purchases, but STILL! This is a new card from late JULY, too! Bonus: The bank teller's name was HARSHDEEP!

After that, I paid my Shaw and hydro bills online at home. Then I got a Christmas photo card from Janet S. (ghost_light) and Christmas presents and stuff from Julie in a bubble-wrap envelope! A Christmas card with stickers, red and pink CHRISTMAS HOUSE penguin socks, a fun and fuzzy JOT ballpoint pen, Women Daredevils: Thrills, Chills, and Frills (Julie Cummins / Cheryl Harness), eight sticker sheets (Christmas glitter / wild animals / truck stickers which Ayler and Hiero would probably stick all over the floor if I gave it to them / five more assorted sheets), two fun and encouraging little notebooks ("You can do this!" / "Best day ever!"), and a penguin pouch of Cappuccino For You! Eric Ho also finally emailed me back, saying that with his current work schedule, the 27th is the only date that could work for a hockey hangout before the new year. Well, at least he'll keep me posted!

There was a fire alarm at about 1 PM, so I threw away fuzzy socks with holes in them, and got proper woolly socks / a thin toque / a winter coat because I thought it was going to be a false fire alarm as usual. Nope, it was actually the first REAL fire scare since I've lived here in 2000! Some idiot neighbor left a plastic baby bottle on the stove, went out at 11, and stuff started burning at 11:30 or so. WHY WOULD YOU NOT CHECK TO SEE THAT THE STOVE IS OFF BEFORE GOING OUT FOR THE DAY?!

Firemen and police and standing around outside in the cold for three hours before we were allowed back in at 3:55 after the fan and air quality... thank goodness that I am okay, as well as my stuff. I guess I should get that Square One insurance! At least it wasn't six hours, but still... the neighbor got back and saw the aftermath including a busted-out balcony, so I hope she learns!

After COFFEE TIME, Barry picked me up at 10:15 so we could finally go to Dr. Wise's office downtown for my eyeball ultrasound follow-up: MORE PAPERWORK AND APPOINTMENTS! We discussed my nephews, therapy, serial killers using white vans, Ted Bundy, the Green River Killer, Paul Bernardo, BTK, and more. When I got home at 12:25 (after Barry went into "robot mode" and blamed jet lag from Japan), I chilled for a bit. I'll have to go to Dr. Wise's office again for another follow-up appointment on November 29 because of my dense cataract needing to be measured by the UBC Eye Care Clinic on Willow Street. AIYA!

Then I called Barry about my successful Nov. 15 appointment rescheduling with the UBC Eye Care Centre when I called them about it at 1:40. It'll be at 9:15 AM on November 15 [which means he has to pick me up at 8:30 AM because of rush hour] instead of 3:30 PM on the same day. That works better with his scheduling because the Pathways office closes at 4. At least I had a lot of time to write out my plans on index cards and my Wordpress Drafts, plus message CANUCKS NATION about it without other people wanting my attention RIGHT NOW! If it weren't for that, things might be better in that way, but Jimmy IS a narcissist...

Later, I went to London Drugs on a 401 at 5:55 for replacement Garnier Fructis orange Marula Oil shampoo and conditioner / Ivory original body wash, and a purple replacement LifeCandy shower pouf. I also bought two red $2 Cannon / Grand Patrician MARTEX washcloths, on-sale Brookside Chocolate bars x2 for Jon's birthday in November (Roasted Almond and Sea Salt / Cranberry Almond with Blood Orange Flavor), Waterbridge Connoisseur Premium Liqueur chocolate brandy beans (Christmas stuff on sale at the stores already before Halloween...), bulk Always pads, original Dawn dish detergent, and Purell hand sanitizer x3 before getting home at 6:45 on a 407. glowing_dragon: (Happy Birthday!)
IT IS MY BIRTHDAY. BOW DOWN TO THE FIRE DRAGON!

Since Auntie Catherine wanted to change our lunch at Pepper Lunch (which I have always wanted to try - Japanese Teppanyaki cuisine!) from Saturday the 15th to today at 11 because she has a doctor appointment in Richmond anyhow, I was semi-amenable to that prospect. I left at 10:45, but had to wait a while because she was at least 15 minutes late. I thought she'd be coming from Brighouse Station, but nope - she had driven instead! The manager seemed very friendly and personable, and helped me cook my raw rare Angus beef steak, green beans, bean sprouts, and carrots in the sizzling iron pan (which came with rice): I even got free miso soup and a free mango mochi for dessert since it was my birthday! Auntie Catherine and I talked about Frances and her baptism (ha ha ha), Auntie Emily / Ellen / Andrew / Brian, prayer for the meal (I guess...), hugs hello AND goodbye, Steph, and the Translink website being largely good for trip planning. (North Van to No. 2 and Francis? Sure, why not...)

I left at 4:20 for Oakridge Station (just managing to catch the 407) to meet Mom and Dad, who were really late. We went to Nando's on West 41st, and talked about garlic bread / spiciness level for the chicken / roasted peppers / Ayler wanting to puncture the napkins with his fork / Ayler almost stabbing me with his fork / cleaning / tips / Patsy Hui (Aaron and Denise Hui's mom) being related to Uncle Stanley and Auntie Vonnie / all the buses going by / real estate. I finally got home at 7:35 on a 407. PHEW!

Mom, to Jon: "How much money did you raise last night?" Jon and I heard, "How much money did you WASTE last night?" Mom also called a wristwatch a WRISTBAND, but it's kinda similar-ish...

After COFFEE TIME, Vanessa and baby Cassidy (with her cool pink sunglasses) picked me up for my BIRTHDAY LUNCH at Pho 37 in Ironwood and Steveston. She apologized for yesterday, but it was still fine by me. We talked about her friends, Tamara, chocolate, sugar, weird people, our parents and siblings(-in-law), "adventurous" pork blood / pork hock / Vietnamese ham / beef / basil / bean sprouts in spicy soup, spring rolls, shrimp salad rolls, padding, buying various things at London Drugs (I opted for on-sale Cool Blue Gatorade x6 - but couldn't find the expiry date of March 16, 2019 on the bottle till just now), blenders, She dropped me off early for my appointment with Rachel at The Caring Place. Rachel actually saw me early, which was surprising, but I also got to be home at 3:25 on a 407, so things worked out that way. I think other things (with Jimmy) are pretty final, but I could be wrong. Still, I want the control...

From Julie: Have you ever listened to someone for a while and wondered... "Who ties your shoelaces for you?"

After I had DOUBLE COFFEE TIME and called Barry about a possible wheeled dolly for on-sale bottled water, Barry picked me up at 11:50 and we went banking and to Price Smart. I got on-sale Western Family dryer sheets (Mountain Rain 120 - Feb. 22, 2015), store brand canned mushroom pieces and stems, on-sale JOY dumplings x4, on-sale Cottonelle toilet paper x2, on-sale 公仔麵 Doll Instant Noodle spicy artificial pork ramen, on-sale Polar Ice Excel Gum x3, NEW on-sale Häagen-Dazs Cookies and Cream ice cream as an easy-to-open birthday treat, spicy tripe, Penang White Curry Mee noodles, Nongshim Neoguri noodles, Nongshim Kamja Tang Myun rich potato noodles, and, NEW on-sale Lay's Canada Pizza / Grilled Cheese / Taco potato chips.

Also got 300 Mead index cards, on-sale Campbell's mushroom soup, on-sale Olympic Dairy Greek yogurt x2 (Ginger and Lemon / Strawberry), NEW on-sale Rolo peanut butter chocolate, a NEW on-sale Swanson Three Cheese Chicken microwaveable meal, on-sale Silk almond milk, on-sale store brand mixed frozen vegetables (2 kg), on-sale store brand pink salmon, and store brand butterscotch pudding. I also technically stole on-sale store brand bottled water x48, but it was at the bottom of the shopping cart, and the cashier never looked there. Good thing that Barry and I were able to leave the store, haha. Apparently, I was lucky that he even managed to get the wheeled dolly - YAY! After that, I paid my Shaw and hydro bills online at home.
