48 Z-Grip Pens (December 18, 2019) from Staples while I was out anyway / a backup K120 USB keyboard, a backup Certified Data Deluxe Optical mouse, 2000 Flushes with Chlorine, Paul Newman's Alfredo sauce for next year, London Naturals unscented dish soap, Vim bathroom cleaner from London Drugs / half-price JOY dumplings x4 (Pork and Tri-Treasure, Lamb and Onion, Pork and Vegetable, Pork and Chives), Earth's Own almond milk, another Hungry-Man Queso XL bowl, and $9 Saniderm hand sanitizer x4 (the limit) from Price Smart equals another productive shopping trip! I should have gone to the pharmacy next door YESTERDAY since it looks like they're closed for ALL the Easter long weekend! Some dude wondered if the entire building was closed - looked like it to him when he peered in. Oh well... I left at 1 on a 401, and returned at 2:50 on a 407.

This bus seat right behind the bus driver is Out of Service because of the coronavirus pandemic! I was standing on the bus (technically not allowed now) and it was moving, so this is as good a photo as I was going to get.

Before COFFEE TIME / BRUSSELS SPROUTS TIME / HOT CHOCOLATE TIME, I called Chrystal at work at 10:10 AM to remind her about tonight. I left at 6:50 on a 414 (which actually had the wheelchair ramp slope in use instead of the steps) to get to London Drugs on time at 7:30 or so. Unfortunately, someone caused a delay for me at Brighouse. Why would you try to start small talk with someone in an elevator who obviously isn't paying any attention to you for a 20-second ride?! No, I'm not going to respond to a guy cyclist's "hi, how are you, hope you're okay, ma'am" in an ENCLOSED SPACE, especially because YOU AND YOUR BIKE FUCKING MADE ME MISS THE FUCKING TRAIN AND WAIT AN ADDITIONAL 11 MINUTES! The elevator wasn't on the first floor either when I needed it to be! I saw the train pulling into the station when I had JUST gotten to the stairs outside!

Don't get me started on the three tall white dudes who evidently had something like "Well then! What the?" to say to me when I was running for the train at Broadway on the way home! THEY WERE OBSTACLES IN MY PATH so of course I had to BARREL into them, and I didn't even have time to turn and yell FUCK OFF! Or the guy IN the train who was blocking my path right when everyone got off and I wanted in. People, have some spatial awareness and consideration! Too bad they didn't think I had coronavirus! At least Mike found my text message rants entertaining!

I FINALLY got to London Drugs at 7:45, where Chrystal was waiting for me and wandering near the back of the store. We quickly decided on our default option of Pho Extreme Xe Lua, since Cactus Club would DEFINITELY be busy on a Friday night even if we'd bothered to reserve beforehand! (they made us wait for 45 minutes at my birthday dinner even WITH one!) We ordered a small #1 (special noodle soup for Chrystal), six signature butter chicken wings for $9.50 to share (although she only ate one - we split the bill anyway), and a large #30 Bo Bun Hue noodle soup for me. We talked about my trip (I showed her some photos), her nephews Benjamin and Ethan, Ayler / Hiero / Beckett / Fraser / Henry, my relief that Mom wasn't coming on that trip, the flight delays, toys, that gas leak on Chinese New Year, her sushi Chinese New Year dinner with family, Hiero's UBC birthday party and presents, Beckett learning new words, Hiero being sick, and work not being fun today. I got home at 9:35 on a 407, which I guess wasn't terrible for leaving the restaurant at 8:50...

From James: Might be the best selfie of the year, and it's only January! Cats and dogs!

I got a blue dragon as my home icon on Google Maps on my phone! I set my "home," tapped on the menu icon, skipped the commute, and tapped on the three dots which appeared so I could change the home pin!

I discovered that Andre had unfriended / blocked me on Facebook - WHAT THE HECK?! Eric picked me up at 8:50 AM so I could use church as a vehicle to get to the Osborne Gym at UBC for Hiero's 6th birthday party. It helps that his hockey is all the way out at UBC, too... and it turned out that his hockey building is practically right next to the Robert Osborne building! He said that the LUFIA music sounded like something crazy was going on at my place - HAHAHA! I packed the Creature Chumpers toy (but forgot the birthday card), a bottled water, my Doge bag, and the other Starbucks Cold Brew before putting my boots on just in case of slush. Made my bag heavier, but it was okay. Eric and I listened to the radio for a bit until some guy came on who just monologues at you all the time - not his thing, and not mine either!

When we got to church, there was still plenty of parking across the street. As I thought, the car door went CLONK into a slush accumulation. Luckily, Eric could pull forward a bit so I could go into the nearby parking lot and then cross the street after getting on the clear sidewalk. I waited around outside the sanctuary, saying hey to Joe. When we were allowed to go inside, I said hi to Geoffrey and Sheena, and was respectful of the service. Hiero was there with Jon (who was preaching today), so I asked him if he wanted his birthday gift now or later... of course he chose now, before the Children's Sunday School.

I realized I'd forgotten the birthday card, but I can always give it to him later. He seemed out of it for some reason, but I wouldn't find out why till much later. Then he was trying to get Jon's attention, but he was busy talking to Pastor Dan. When I got back from the handicapped restroom (seeing empty water jugs inside and hoping a grandma didn't have to use it), Hiero had gotten Jon's attention, who told him to say thank you. I said that he already had (when I prompted him), so of course he didn't have to say it again! I did see Uncle Eric and Auntie Brenda at different times, and an uncle said hi to me as well.

Jon had an engaging sermon on Mark and seeds, at least. Even Julie S. agreed with me later on! I said hi to Sam, Auntie Cathy, Auntie Catherine (hug), Auntie Esther (hug), Cordia's mom, Helen C., Joe T., Ivan, Lesley, Dylan / Deb / Declan / Elysse (who thinks it's crazy that Hiero will be her age by next week AND who was eating sugar cubes), Cordia / Amasiah / Julie S. / Denise (who sent a photo of me to Steph) / Julie M., Auntie Susan x2 (Karen Grace's mom and Vivian's mom), Darren L., Martin T., Acer, and others. I could hear Acer swearing in the fellowship hall while talking about DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS, but whatever.

Soon enough, it was just a little group of me, Eric, Cordia, Amasiah, their friend Jeremy, and Acer since everyone else was staying for the Larry and Bella Mori missionary lunch before Missions Fest later in the month. Once we were shushed by Auntie Ada (Benedict's mom) since the Cantonese service was going on, we moved to the stairs, where I noticed a few minutes later that we were blocking the way, so we stood around a little outside the sanctuary in the "hall" until the bench cleared up. We still had to watch our volume, though!

Jeremy insisted he wasn't a weeb just because he went to Japan with some guys - including Acer's cousin - and had to translate for the group, Cordia said she's accepted who she is, and said that Amasiah was morbid like me - SWEET! We talked about the Japan trip, Japanese people KNOWING when you're "foreign" to them even if you're Asian and fluent in the language, Sharon's health woes in the Osoyoos (being literally stuck at home), 80 cents for a medium bottle of milk tea in Japan, the Mori kids Timothy and Tiffany, Molly, people following others on Instagram, pressuring Amasiah to buy some Pokemon figurine on Amazon since she didn't in Hong Kong, my trip, the snow and slush, anime / manga, otaku people, Discord, and lunch plans. Eric and I went upstairs to see if we could get some extra $2 sandwiches (Benedict had five pink tickets from his mom!), but he decided not to bother or distract anyone in the rooms, which I noticed are now labelled. They even upgraded the water cooler from a huge jug to a black self-cleaning one!

A few minutes later at 1:25, Eric asked if I was cool with going to Broadway / Cambie instead. Sure, why not? We could get fast food burgers, so we went to A and W where he kindly paid for my Mama Burger and we shared his fries before going to Pacific Spirit Park and a parking garage on UBC campus. He pressed the crosswalk button for me in the rainy weather, and showed me which building to go into. I went into the Robert Osborne building, connected to the Wi-Fi, and looked for a specific gym on the Evite to no avail, so I had to text Harmony about it. "No, gym" is not really a great answer to "should I meet you on the second floor?" when there are at least three gyms and lots of lockers in the entire place... as I told Steph, I wonder how many "where is this place specifically?" calls and texts they got before the birthday party.

Jon and Harmony were actually early with the kids, probably because they had to sign a waiver and were nominally hosting 15 kids and their parents. I showed Beckett the balls that he had dropped in my bag, but he seemed too out of it even for just waking up. He did look at them with widened eyes, but said nothing. After I met Hiero's friends Emmett and Huxley (what a name!), I heard that Hiero had puked on the gymnastics equipment when Harmony was explaining what had happened in Chinese to her parents! IRRESPONSIBLE AND GROSS! WHY WOULD YOU SUBJECT KIDS TO THAT?! Even Ayler was complaining of feeling sick at the end of everything later! While I was there, Chinese Eric replied to my text about the All-Star Game, saying he'd get back to me later. Why don't you figure it out first, man? I'm not like my ex Mike who wants an almost-instant response! Uncle Joe and Auntie Wing ended up driving me home after the refreshments since Costco closes early on Sundays, so I got home at 6:25. AWESOME!

Random stuff from Mom and Dad, who definitely wanted the tiny tote bag back if Mom dug through my bag for it: Cao Is Starvingbase Chongqing instant noodles, Paldo Jjajangmen Chajang instant noodles, Country Life pure soap, a random floral soap circle, Princess Cruises Lotus Spa shower gel x2, a shoe brush, a Bath Aquatics h2O+ bath bar, and Ontrue roasted seaweed x2 in green tea flavor! It's MINE after I put it in my bag - come on now, WAIT FOR ME TO GET BACK FROM THE WASHROOM AND THEN ASK PERMISSION! Even Beckett has more respect than that! When he dropped his balls in my bag, he just stood by the bag and didn't go through it... I'm sure he doesn't have the words to ask about the balls, but that doesn't matter!

The Tiger Tiger Sukiyaki noodles did come with a lot of packets in the bowl with the handy lid, all crammed inside!

I had to go banking by myself today with my Asian old lady shopping cart at 11:20 on a 401 (JUST managed to get it), then went to Staples for 60 Z-Grip Pens (July 10, 2019), and wasted time at Price Smart. Stopped at London Drugs for a new Santa hat / on-sale Smokehouse Blue Diamond almonds for the plane tomorrow / on-sale Connoisseur Waterbridge chocolate brandy beans / on-sale portable Wet Ones wipes in citrus scent x4, and Shoppers for tomorrow's breakfast (a salmon poke bowl) plus on-sale Arm and Hammer Cold Water laundry detergent. Royal Bank has these brand new "envelope-free" deposits, and an alkie guy had to sit RIGHT NEXT TO ME on the bus stop bench while horking and drinking his brand new beer from the liquor store - YUCK!

When I got home, I showered and did laundry before texting Deb a reminder about taking me to the airport tomorrow morning, then setting an alarm for tomorrow just in case. Then I had to figure out how to pay my BC Hydro bill when it hasn't come in the mail yet - UGH! I had to phone a 1-800 number and got it sorted out within 20 minutes, so I could finally pay my Shaw and hydro bills online. Steph reminded me about some other stuff too, which is handy to know. I definitely took out some garbage before I forgot - ew, garbage for two weeks!

Chinese Eric is alive! He apparently had problems with his phone and could only access his voicemail, and also wants to hang out one last time before 2020. This is better than my thinking he's mad at me for the pink Ruby Kit-Kat bar, but I leave tomorrow morning, so that won't be possible! I also suspect he could be making stuff up since it's been more than two months, but whatever!

After COFFEE TIME, I went out at 2:40 on a 401 to a sick Jeremy's for Jon's birthday dinner since Eric could give me a ride home after UBC hockey and helping in the kitchen. I bought on-sale Knorr Sidekicks in Chicken and Broccoli rice and pasta / Homestyle Cheddar / Chicken Fried Rice, some high-visibility fluorescent yellow-green stickers and slap bracelet straps from Dollar Land (FINALLY!), some 100 mL Vaseline lotion in the yellow tube for Ontario from Shoppers Drug Mart, and a small bag of NEW on-sale Takis Outlaw snacks from Buy-Low for the Gwei-Lo at Kingsgate Mall since I got there at 3:20. I managed to get to Jeremy's at 4:35 after cutting through Dude Chilling Park, and Ayler wasn't even there yet to lock me out like he did last year! Eric sent me a text while I was there to ask if I was here yet... crazy! I did give him his Windel Advent calendar and Delecto dark chocolate assortment, and gave Jeremy his Windel Advent calendar too.

The kids got there a while later; Harmony said she was glad I was there already because then I could help her watch Beckett and take him from Jesse later on when he needed a break. Yeah, I let him look at the big screen for a minute - that's not going to get him addicted! Jeremy said there were some unsafe things for babies behind the chairs - yes, I could see wires! Beckett toddled around and wanted to turn off the computer, which Ayler thought was a touchscreen again. I let Beckett touch my fuzzy purple Alia winter coat, go up on the couch (but NOT touch the Japanese painting), hold my hands as he walked around, spout gibberish about the glass table (he can see the carpet!) and point at the lights and new things, and give me all the beer coasters a few times over.

Yes, he could throw those around if he wanted to, but NOT the candles or anything else! NOT SUITABLE PROJECTILES! He was also eventually curious about Jeremy's beard, like Ayler and Hiero had been. Ayler was smart and knew that I would have Advent calendars for them. He has a bonus dragon book since HE is a DRAGON too! The Santa stuffed dog was in my bag later when I got home, but I can give it to Beckett before my trip. Hiero wanted to be Batman or Superman in front of everyone.

I was civil and polite to Raymond when he was in the way and admiring Jeremy's bookshelf while I wanted to get my UTHER book from my bag to show Trish later, and also when I handed him some dishes that needed to be washed. Caught up with Caleb (I saw his uncle William recently!), Becky, Alice, Jeremy, Randal, Jesse, Trish, Lanie, and Christon for sure. (Ayler's math prowess / the Japanese soldier who refused to surrender until his commanding officer said so / my upcoming trip / writing / Jacob's Well / SERVANTS / the Spain honeymoon / buying a new place and moving / a rice cooker / the microwave / Jeremy seeing Steph in the newspaper as a random RCMP officer and confirming with Jon)

I met Jon's friend Mallory, noticed that his friend Jay had a "scent" about him, and "met" his friends Chris and Mallory. Since we all had to leave an hour or so earlier because Jeremy was feeling under the weather (bad timing as he got sick from his co-workers yesterday!), Eric and I actually left at 9 or so! We talked about gluten-free ice cream sandwiches being good for his mom and brother, his staying home at Christmas, FIRE EMBLEM, and a raccoon being outside near the dumpster when we got to my place at 9:30. (it was a milk jug...)

I discovered REDRUM this morning, but still took a shower to help me feel better. After COFFEE TIME, I discovered a TOILET PLUMBING PROBLEM: IT WOULDN'T FLUSH PROPERLY! I left a note with Hester to cover my ass AND called her about it, but then I had to leave since I had no time to play phone tag! I went out at 2:55 on a 407 to help with the kids. Even after being at Marine Drive to see a 3 Downtown pull up to the stop, I wasn't even at Jon's any earlier than I was last week! Thanks, strollers and walkers which got on AND off before I left the bus at 16th! /sarcasm Yes, of course they're obviously entitled to use the bus (as are wheelchairs) - I was just glad I left a few minutes earlier than I did last week.

Beckett was sleeping when I got there; Ayler and Hiero were playing that Emoji Memory card game that I bought, so I got an answer to the question I asked Jon about what they do when the baby is supposed to be sleeping. Otherwise, I'd have asked the kids myself. Hiero tried making up his own rules: "No touching cards that other people have touched!" (which is totally nonsense for a MEMORY CARD game) and how you can shoot people who are already dead. I said those weren't fair! (they won the game and I lost - whatever) Ayler was sick because of some heatstroke at the Langley berry farm yesterday. We had a dinner of various things: macaroni and cheese, ribs, pizza, cold noodles, blueberries, strawberries, cherries, and more. Discussed power-washing balconies, Hiero spilling almond milk on the floor and my black Secret socks (I had fun telling them that I can make up my own rules too, like I can pause dinner to put on their dad's holey socks and wash my hands), some salad Mom gave them which expires today (I didn't want it to take home - so Harma tossed it), and how we shouldn't shoot people at the dinner table.

Beckett ate a bit of stuff, but was pretty much done fairly soon into his "meal." I had fun hanging out with him afterwards, though, even if he threw balls all over the place. He has new colorful soft ones, which are probably better for the downstairs neighbors complaining about everything. He seemed to like the new penguin, at least. I let him climb on me because it's cute, but watched to make sure he didn't fall off the couch or anything. The balcony is effectively closed off to him because of a rather interesting arrangement of chairs and other things. PHEW! I think he had fun chewing on his Christmas board books, too.

I left at 8 after doing some STAR WARS STORMTROOPERS summer reading with the kids, after Hiero had to go to a separate room because he was hugging a whimpering Beckett, and after I had grabbed Beckett before he got to the kids' jigsaw puzzle / after he invaded the washroom while Hiero was in the shower. I sent Mike a quick message ("thanks for the great fish head idea, Uncle Mike - says Nephew") using the Save-On wi-fi at the bus stop - thank goodness I didn't just miss the 3 Marine Drive bus! The bus driver didn't create a delay this time, but instead it was an old guy who was slow in even using his wheelchair to get on AND off the bus! Yup, he is totally entitled to use the buses (and it could be me one day), but be reasonably fast about it - come on now, other people have connections to make!

At the station, I quickly went to T&T to look for (and get) some quirky Lays chips for Rachel - Numb and Spicy Hot Pot, Wasabi, and Kimchi! I should get the Deep-Ridged ones next time: Spicy Chicken and Pork! Thank goodness I managed to get the Brighouse train home within two minutes of getting to the train area, and I FINALLY got home at 9! Thanks to the delays, I was able to text both Paulo and both Erics in detail. The toilet STILL wasn't fixed, so I had to consult V4F and then use buckets for filling up the tank. Sigh... I guess I'll have to call Hester tomorrow morning. No melatonin tonight...

After DOUBLE COFFEE TIME, I went out at 3:05 on a 407 bus to help with the kids at 4. I checked to see if Shoppers had any cheaper lip balm - I was unwilling to pay $9.99 for a little tube of Burt's Bees once I finally found it at the back of the store (even London Drugs has it for cheaper!), so I went straight to Mount Pleasant instead. Turns out Jon wanted to meet at Bellagio Gelato - worked for me, even if I had to wait for a bit. Hell, I could just hop on their wi-fi from just outside the doors. They showed up at about 4:45, and Ayler asked how long I'd been waiting, and about my route. I joked and said five hours, then revised it to 15 minutes. Beckett didn't seem to like his sunhat, but the kids got white bubblegum gelato (with no bubble gum pieces!) while I got some raspberry sorbetto. Of course I did the polite thing and thanked the ug! We tried offering some to Beckett, but he turned his head away like his brothers had when they were one year old. Maybe when he's four years old, he'll like it!

Ayler, Hiero, and I talked about the puzzle with the most pieces: 551,232 pieces?! I totally blew their minds with that factoid! They were impressed by the photo which I was able to find online, too. We walked or ran back home - with lectures about stranger danger and people possibly grabbing them - and I was able to hang out with the kids and Harmony. Catching Beckett whenever he crawled to the back window because he threw his red ball around, preventing him from fitting under the couch, his chewing toys and seeming interested in the Christmas baby books at times, almost tripping over crap in the way (hopefully not hurting Beckett), flossing, and ODE TO JOY piano music.

More origami, SIMON SAYS, some calorific pasta for Beckett (who just threw everything on the floor anyway), what had lots of calories, school and therapy, calling Dad for his birthday, reading books about bikes and trains, the double-layer puzzle, salad, Chinese noodles with peanut sauce, allergies, blueberries, calories, corn on the cob, and hugging Beckett to me when his brothers were being too rambunctious with pinches and he wanted support and security since we were all in a tiny circle... that was heartwarming and he wasn't scared of me! Ayler wanted me to come next week - sure, but do I have to smell their poo air?! They laughed at that, of course. I was able to leave at about 8 (Harmony thinks I did a good job with all the kids?!), grabbed the 3 Marine Drive Station bus, and was able to find some more lip balm x4 while I was out... gotta have backups! At least I was able to find the beauty section at T&T - $1.79 for one tube is way better than $9.99 to $11.99, no matter if Burt's Bees is more "quality" than Chapstick! I also grabbed a pack of Paldo Bul Jjamppong noodles on my way out. Got home at 9:30 on a 407, which is good.

I had a chocolate muffin, coffee, and pear slices as breakfast before Deb dropped me off near Brighouse Station. The one-week followup went pretty well at the eye clinic: NO MORE GLASSES FOR NOW! I decided to get a NEW McDonalds Chocolate Nanaimo Bar McFlurry at the Broadway McDonalds, but that was very disappointing... YUCKY coconut flakes! Then I went back to Deb and Dylan's on a 407, but checked out the nearby M and M Meat Shops since I'm rarely out this way: Cilantro and Lime basmati rice, Brown Basmati and Wild Rice, and Long Grain White Rice in microwaveable packages. I saw some BAD SPELLING at the Chateau Quality Drycleaners: HOW DO YOU MISSPELL "COMFORTERS"?!

Eventually, I had fried rice with chicken and sriracha sauce for flavor as a real lunch. Vicky, Jason, baby Lucas, Pastor Dan, and white Eric all came over tonight for dinner: Pizza Hut Supreme pizza x2, quinoa salad, Build Your Own Taco from Costco, Welch's white grape juice, boxed Pinot Grigio wine, French bread, prosciutto, coffee, tea, cantaloupes, and Two Bite Brownies! We talked about small group memories, moving a lot, kids picking up things quickly, FLINCH the show, the swearing Roomba, the Victoria Day long weekend, Christon's wedding being the same day as Mike Kwan's (August 31), remembering wedding anniversaries, Sharon, and church stuff.

Eric agreed to give me a ride home, which we reached at 9:40. He definitely helped me wheel my stuff into my place! When I left Deb and Dylan's, Deb gave me some frozen food because Dylan was thinking of me. Walmart's Your Fresh Market shepherd's pie and chicken Parmesan are good, but technically expired since the expiry date is May 7. Guess I'll have to eat them both soon-ish!

Had sesame seed bagels with cream cheese, coffee, kiwi fruit, and pears for breakfast today. Deb opted to keep Elysse at home this morning, so we went to Costco after I checked on my place and grabbed a couple of things, including Alice's FARTING ANIMALS coloring book. I even asked if I could do some laundry, and Deb said I could after she was done with five loads of laundry herself. Deb ended up buying DRUMSTICKS ice cream, Build-Your-Own-Taco kits, Liberté honey yogurt with a certain amount of milk fat for her mom ("it's not on sale, but it's my mom!"), fruit, rotisserie chicken, quinoa salad, compost bags, chocolate muffins, apple muffins, Two-Bite Brownies, and many other things.

Lunch: French bread, Brie cheese, DanActive yogurt drink, edamame beans, and Costco rotisserie chicken. Finished my laundry and was relieved to have that done so I won't have to do two loads of laundry right away when I get home tomorrow. We had fried rice with chili pepper and fish sauce, plus edamame beans on the side for dinner. Later, I entertained Declan and Elysse with the FARTING ANIMALS coloring book ("OH MY GOD!") - HAHAHA!

Korey wasn't in town as I thought ("that would be horrible news for you"), but he had hockey afterwards. That's fine, as I'm only using church as a vehicle to more easily get to the birthday party somehow, which I told him. He'll show up tomorrow at about 9:10 AM. Phew!

* Random stuff from Mom and Dad, inside a Lush Cosmetics North America bag: A Spirit "Size 14" thin blue and white pair of pants which Mom thought would "fit" me (ha ha ha... she forgets about the NG butt size!), two random pairs of grey knee socks, Project 7 Coconut-Lime gourmet gum, a pound of Carnaby (Shoppers Drug Mart store brand) Halloween candy and gumdrops in a tub with NO expiry date (VERY QUESTIONABLE!), a pack of three pairs of women's athletic socks, two pairs of T-Max Heat Holders / Heat Holders / Heat Holders / Heat Holders World casual socks (FINALLY, SOMETHING POTENTIALLY USEFUL!), a random pair of white "socks" which don't even fit over my feet, and a Disney / Disney Princess Lip Smackers tub in "Birthday Princess" flavor.

* a Christmas photo card from Janet and Mark S. (ghost_light / lonelydumptruck)

* Stuff from Julie M. (moonshar) in a bubble-wrap envelope: A Christmas card with stickers, red and pink CHRISTMAS HOUSE penguin socks, a fun and fuzzy JOT ballpoint pen, Women Daredevils: Thrills, Chills, and Frills (Julie Cummins / Cheryl Harness), eight sticker sheets (Christmas glitter / wild animals / truck equipment stickers which Ayler and Hiero would probably stick all over the floor if I gave it to them / five more assorted sheets), two fun and encouraging little notebooks ("You can do this!" / "Best day ever!"), and a penguin pouch of Cappuccino For You!

* a Purdy's Chocolatier Chocolate Survival Kit "Survive the Season!" box of assorted chocolate bars from white Eric: Peanut Butter Bar, Sweet Georgia Browns (2), Coffee Break Bar, Hedgehogs (3), and Chocolate Chewie Bar!

I went to Jon and Harmony's at 2:05 on a 401 with the Charlotte's holiday butter cookies and EMOJI MOVIE Memory Matching cards / Mega Bloks Smash Stunt Zeg truck for Hiero's birthday. We had golden beets, salad with walnuts and other garnishes, cauliflower, potatoes, eggnog, cookies, and other things as part of Christmas dinner while enjoying some low-key family time. We discussed NG things, where Lisa "grew" her mustache for our WhatsApp call with Fraser / Steph / Havarti, new books, sticker decoration, lots of reading (MR. CHATTERBOX / MR. GREEDY / PEANUTS books), and other stuff. I got a Purdy's Chocolate Survival Kit "Survive the Season!" box of assorted chocolate bars from white Eric, and a LOQI lightweight cat reusable bag ("I carry up to 20 kg") / matching cat wallet / Softsoap® Brand Pampered Hands Tangerine Treat foaming hand soap / a Happy Hippy PEACE fragrant soap square from The Happy Hippy Soap Company from Jon and Harmony.

Beckett was largely pretty content just hanging out. I made him play peek-a-boo with himself, which he seemed okay with. He was slightly upset because he'd grown his first two teeth already and wanted to put everything into his mouth. (including my finger, his foot with or without socks, etc.) Hiero wanted to know why the baby was upset, so I told him that Beckett had never experienced that before, which Hiero seemed to accept.

Hiero decorated me with "cool" PEANUTS stickers, lectured me on paper airplane aerodynamics / rudeness, and fought with Ayler over his new truck toy. Harmony said I could call them first if I wanted company post-surgery, and said that they had a bunch of family dinners coming up. No doubt! Hiero showed me the MR. MEN cookie metal lunchbox, so I said that lunchboxes weren't that way when I was a kid since they were made of plastic. His very funny response: "PLASTIC?! YIKES!" HAHAHAHA!

After offering me THE NEW YORKER, Jon drove me to King Edward Station at 8:15 after bathtime and bedtime, and the 407 was actually early, so I got home at 9:15 instead of later. He did ask whether I still kept in touch with Chinese Eric, so I said we were possibly getting together on the 27th. I got home (after wishing the security guard a Merry Christmas) to find a MERRY CHRISTMAS email from the aforementioned Chinese Eric, who said that he can definitely hang out on the 27th - WOO! When I got in, I decided that I might as well do my laundry too while I had the time and was going to be awake anyway.

After COFFEE TIME, I went out at 2:05 on a 414 for my last 2018 appointment with Rachel, and got home at 4 on a 407. There IS a two-hour gap in service for the 407 at Brighouse - WHAT THE FUCK?! I showered today. The Canucks played the Lightning at 7 tonight, and lost 5-2 in a fight-filled game.

Hey, Santa! Don't let the kids see you getting high! He's trimming the buds. He's checking them twice. We're gonna get high. It's gonna be nice.

This is why you don't put blue Christmas lights on palm trees... "Alright, Jim, turn the light on... Oh, God... turn them off, turn them OFF!!" They look like PENISES!

glowing_dragon: (Vancouver Canucks hockey!)
The Canucks played Nashville at 7 tonight, and won 5-3! ELIAS PETTERSEN HAD A GOAL ON A PENALTY SHOT! I showered today.

Trivia Card 1, which is yellow! "A card with an obscure trivia question on it. Try using it on human enemies." The question was "What was the slogan for EARTHBOUND?" The correct answer to Trivia Card 1 is "This game stinks!"

Trivia Card 2, which is blue! "A card with an obscure trivia question on it. Try using it on human enemies." The question is something about food. The correct answer to Trivia Card 2 is "Croquette roll."

Trivia Card 3, which is green! "A card with an obscure trivia question on it. Try using it on human enemies." It's likely that the question was "Who were the developers of the MOTHER series?" The correct answer to Trivia Card 3 is "Ape."

Trivia Card 4, which is purple! "A card with an obscure trivia question on it. Try using it on human enemies." There is a likelihood that the question was "What great event took place in the 1800s?" since half of the answers took place in the 1800s. The Civil War took place from 1861 to 1865, the Industrial Revolution took place from 1750 to 1850, and the Battle of the Alamo took place from February 23 to March 6, 1836. The correct answer to Trivia Card 4 is "the Civil War."

From Julie: Eat salad, they say. It's healthy. You know what never gets recalled? Cake. I am sticking to cake. (Yes, because romaine lettuce was recalled here on November 20 because of E. Coli!)

Menu for tonight:

Tortilla chips with salsa verde and salsa rojo
Chicken Tortilla soup
Jicama Salad (vegetarian)
Mole Colaradito Enchiladas (vegetarian)
Agua de Jamaica (zero proof)

After DOUBLE COFFEE TIME, I left at 2:45 on a 401 for Jeremy's. I had the on-sale Brookside Chocolate bars x2 (Roasted Almond and Sea Salt / Cranberry Almond with Blood Orange Flavor) and the four NHL 100 Advent calendars / Waterbridge Belgian chocolate seashells for Jon, plus the Terry's Chocolate Orange / NHL 100 Advent calendar / Waterbridge Belgian chocolate seashells for Eric Ho. Maybe HE could drive me home, haha! It turned out he couldn't since he'd driven downtown because he wouldn't be able to get much parking! I killed 45 minutes at Kingsgate Mall, but got to Jeremy's at 4. Ayler picked up, but wouldn't buzz me into the building for some reason. I tried four times after that, and LUCKILY, Jeremy's neighbors were exiting the building and let me in! (possibly because they saw I was actively trying to be buzzed in) Later, we found out that the kids had left the phone off the hook for half an hour! UGH!

I settled in by Harmony, saying hi to her and baby Beckett, who held my finger and burbled at me. Ayler and Hiero wanted to do THUMB WAR and STELLA STELLA OLA, but I was fine with watching them (and the Rubik's Cube) instead. I read a MR. MEN book to them, plus a book on frogs and one on animal tracks and Curious George. When everyone got there, I managed to get a ride to Broadway Station from Kevin later on. Talked to Randal, SERVANTS friends (Rudy?), Christon, Dilys, Alice, Jesse, Trish, Caleb, Becky, and others about Crown Royal Black whiskey, condos, townhouses, toilets, sanitation, history, vacation, the Christmas holidays, beer, the food, white Eric, Chinese Eric, Condoleeza Rice and the Cleveland Browns, women and guns, chimeras / DNA / transgender people, Uncle Stanley's colon cancer (but he is positive about it), and more. Kevin drove me near Broadway Station at 8:50 in the freezing weather, and I got home at 9:50 on a 407. Phew!
glowing_dragon: (Crazy-Eyed Bear)
After COFFEE TIME and SHOWER TIME, I went out with the barkTHINS snacking dark chocolate with pumpkin seeds at 4:10 to meet Dad at King Edward station so we could get to Jon and Harmony's. If they wanted to invite Randal and his dad (who ended up not coming because he doesn't like meeting strangers...), that was fine. I thought I'd be earlier than needed, so stopped at Marine Drive Station to kill time at T and T. I got some lime Lays chips while I was there! Got to King Edward Station in time, where Dad showed up in their new-to-them car.

Yes, my eye surgery IS important even if I can't see as well out of that eye, thanks very much! We actually got to talk to Steph via FaceTime for a while, too! Ayler and Hiero said hi, made me guess what they did today, pretended their colorful train tracks were Zambonis, asked about eye exams, put way too much cranberry sauce on their turkey, asked if they could have my beer (NO!), and climbed all over me and Randal. I did actually get to see baby Beckett, who is getting started on solids pretty early, but he seems to be okay with it. He smiled at me, and tried taking his colorful toy when (at Jon's direction) I brushed it against his hand. Mom had an unscheduled stop at Foody World (where apples were 28 cents a pound), but I got dinner leftovers (fall salad / turkey / gravy) with random Pocky and three apples when I finally got home at 8:45! I also got my garbage bag full of WASHED JACKETS and WINTER COATS back when the lards gave me a ride home!

glowing_dragon: (Happy Birthday!)
After COFFEE TIME, Vanessa and baby Cassidy (with her cool pink sunglasses) picked me up for my BIRTHDAY LUNCH at Pho 37 in Ironwood and Steveston. She apologized for yesterday, but it was still fine by me. We talked about her friends, Tamara, chocolate, sugar, weird people, our parents and siblings(-in-law), "adventurous" pork blood / pork hock / Vietnamese ham / beef / basil / bean sprouts in spicy soup, spring rolls, shrimp salad rolls, padding, buying various things at London Drugs (I opted for on-sale Cool Blue Gatorade x6 - but couldn't find the expiry date of March 16, 2019 on the bottle till just now), blenders, She dropped me off early for my appointment with Rachel at The Caring Place. Rachel actually saw me early, which was surprising, but I also got to be home at 3:25 on a 407, so things worked out that way. I think other things (with Jimmy) are pretty final, but I could be wrong. Still, I want the control...

From Julie: Have you ever listened to someone for a while and wondered... "Who ties your shoelaces for you?"

Pho 37 is an adventure with this menu!

Happy Pho 37 birthday to me!

Bo Bun Hue at Pho 37: Beef, pork blood, Vietnamese ham, and pork hock in spicy soup with vermicelli noodles!

glowing_dragon: (Devilish Smile)
After COFFEE TIME, I left at 2 on a 401 to make it to Jon's by 2:30 or so. Ayler asked me whether I brought chocolate this time - nope, because I chose not to, despite what he said about how that wasn't true. He also told me that Jon said I had to fill up their bath water later - I DON'T THINK SO! We made it to Sunrise for skating lessons, with slightly more time to get the kids ice-ready. Harmony and I talked about the baby, Portland, Squamish, Nathan, family, the cute kids on the ice, my toilet book, and how it takes an equal amount of time to leave the house and get ready as it does to have the half-hour lesson. Got home to have fish cakes, lime, laksa noodles, leftover pizza, cherries, and a green melon smoothie with some seeds for dinner. Hiero said that the toy trains were diaper trains, said that Bambi started "fire-burning" by kicking people, and wanted me to read LILY AND TROOPER to him. Ayler just wanted to "show Hiero a trick," which I was 99% sure involved taking my hat off, so I said that I wouldn't read to him if that was the case.

I talked to baby Beckett in his crib when he was being fussy, and later held him for about ten minutes in the rocking chair after doing the dinner dishes. No, Ayler was not allowed to wake him up when he'd just fallen asleep. Harmony had gone to the lards' place briefly to measure stuff after a few people all came at once to view their place - one party was rather late! Jon asked about next week, but I wasn't quite sure with my eventual vision issues. Maybe I can get Barry to drop me off at Oakridge that day... I got home at 8:25 on a 407 because I read bedtime stories to the kids before leaving. Harmony got home again just a bit before I did, actually.

From Julie: WHY GRIZZLY BEARS SHOULD WEAR UNDERPANTS?!

From Janet, AKA [personal profile] ghost_light: A sign outside El Arroyo in Austin, Texas! "Crap, that's due tomorrow?" - Thomas Jefferson, July 3, 1776

Tonight's menu:

Gaeng Ped Bped Yang - Red curry with BBQ duck and pineapple

Tom Ka Gai - Coconut galangal chicken soup

Yum Kai Dao - Fried egg salad

Pad Makeua Yao - Eggplant sitrfry with Thai basil

White Eric called me at 6:05, and got here about 15 minutes later. We discussed Steph, Mom, life, (almost) being in the Main area three times in three nights, and IGNITE PIZZA on the way to Jeremy's. I met new people named Alice, Evan, Judy, and Anna; CHINESE ERIC SHOWED UP, so of course I had to talk to him! He said that he'd seen my reply to the Evite, so of course he had to come after work! I saw Jesse and Trish, so gave them my "jack shit" opinion of the Pest Chaser sonic device. Said hi to Geoffrey, Fred, Randal, Sheena, Vivian, and Kevin. We discussed a future hockey hangout, the Vegas Golden Knights, Kevin's Singapore and Vietnam / Saigon trip photos, white Eric's Albania trip photos, panoramic photos, Jon moving AGAIN to Mom and Dad's current apartment (which I didn't know about till he showed up and said something), losing weight, Randal spending time with Ayler and Hiero (but stopping his lessons), life updates, writing, scheduling Wordpress blogging, and Rice Paper online magazine.

Also talked about politics, Anglicans, Kevin attending a Lutheran church now, the Washington Capitals, the Tampa Bay Lightning, Twitch "in real life" streams, PUBG / FORTNITE, the new Wi-Fi device and password, Hiero ripping out a door at Jeremy's TODAY (he doesn't care!), Vivian's gum graft procedure (OUCH!), Christon's mom being even less mobile now, Randal's dad being 82 now, Nathan not wanting to socialize in big groups now (which is so totally understandable), Stockholm Syndrome beer, Pepsi, and BRISK iced tea. The party broke up at about 9:40 or so, and I nudged white Eric to get going if he wanted to pack up his hockey gear for tomorrow when he got home to Richmond. We waited for Sheena since she had no idea how to get out; on her way IN, she had bumped into Vivian, so that was pretty lucky! I got home at 10:25, and had peace and quiet unlike last night. SO GOOD AND REFRESHING!

Dr. Narwhals Mating?!

glowing_dragon: (Bert and Ernie)
After COFFEE TIME at 3, I left for Jon's at 4:25 (later than usual - still enough light outside!) to make it on time at 5. Even though I knew I'd be there in time for dinner, I still bought a BBQ pork bun at Kam Do Bakery. Once I knocked on the window, Randal let me in without knowing who I was, and Ayler said that Uncle Randal had beat me to the house. That's fine; I don't think either of us cares about that. We talked about our weeks, his dad, the flu (the kids thought it was the most hilarious thing ever that they gave it to me...), red rice, Greek spinach with olive oil, pomelo salad, Harmony not eating chicken feet, my Turtles chocolates, Ayler telling me a big fat lie ("Mommy doesn't eat chocolate!"), my eating Hiero's carrots, not getting off at Brighouse station (but what if I want to go there?), kicking a car in revenge for it running you over, toy trains, Ayler not having school today, Mom and Dad moving to Burnaby, selling liquor at grocery stores (and those restrictions!), Chinese New Year coinciding with Steph's birthday this year, San Francisco, and Langara having lots of lights to somewhat help me even if it was completely dark outside when I left five minutes after Randal. Got home at 8:05 on a 407, which is definitely the usual time. Helps to rest and relax afterwards, for sure!

Random stuff from Mom and Dad: two Oral-B toothbrushes, two Reach toothbrushes, one Colgate toothbrush, a toothbrush cap, four tubes of Crest Pro-Health toothpaste, a United Colors of Benetton vest, two Uncle Ben's Rice coupons, a Princess Cruises Lotus Spa lotion tube, a Thann Aromatic Wood aromatherapy body lotion, and a Coral Lite zippered handbag.

Yes, I still have a Crown because I put in a code to enable me to get things from treasure chests an infinite number of times. Good for making money! The Bob-omb's description: "Be careful!"

The SUPER MARIO FANTASY ADVENTURE party (Mario / Luigi / Yoshi / Toad) finally gets to the Cave of Moles. This is not Mt. Duergar, and is not populated by dwarves. "Moles can see in the dark!"

Hester and the management came by for a suite inspection at 9:55 this morning, saying I needed to wash my kitchen sink and my bathroom sink, wash the bathtub, and move my mop and bucket from the balcony. Yeah, I don't think any of those are going to be done with a lot of competency or urgency! :P

After (MORE) COFFEE TIME at 1:10, I left at 2:40 to make it to Jon's by 3:30. I just missed the 49, so had to wait for the next one. Ayler and Hiero were supposed to be sleeping before snacktime and the SERVANTS dinner, but they had their eyes open the entire time I was in the room. Then they started fighting over the stuffed monkeys before I saw Hiero fall - but something cushioned it, thank goodness. They tried jumping on the bed, taking my necklace, putting the monkey "far away so no one could get it," and then I watched them as they ate pomelo / apple / pomegranate while Jon was teaching Pius. Hiero did not complain about the violin noise this week, at least!

I had an orange while smelling the caramelizing onions and discussing French onion soup / leap years / time / whether it was completely dark outside yet / not believing me when I said I was going to the bathroom / the weather next week / Jon giving me back my U2 JOSHUA TREE CD / school days and holidays / dropping me off at Langara Skytrain Station on the way to pick up Harmony before dinner. At least Jon gave me his arm to hold while going down that treacherous hard-to-see step! (I did try to go through the alleyway earlier, but their landlord had closed the back gate) After they dropped me off at 5:30 (and discussed Nathan), I mailed Corey's extra birthday card and Christmas card at London Drugs before going home at 6:20 on a 407. I had to wait for a while in line, otherwise I'd have been home at 6! Jon thanked me for coming by, which is good. I sent Nathan a FB message when I got home, as well as emailing Eric.

Bartz, Lenna, and Faris go to the Tycoon Meteor in FINAL FANTASY V ADVANCE after Galuf and Krile go back to their world. They find Cid and his grandson Mid there, and Mid says that he decided to put the blue crystal of Adamantite back where it came from because it started to release a tremendous amount of energy. Cid then accidentally drops the Adamantite onto the transporter plate, then says: "Jumping Christmas! The floor is absorbing the energy from the Adamantite!" Gotta love this translation!

After COFFEE TIME, Eric picked me up at 6:25 (he had to work from home today) so we could go to Jeremy's. I had his Ganong Delecto dark peppermint creams and Christmas card, plus Jeremy's FROSTY THE SNOWMAN Advent calendar and Christmas card. I'd also decided to give Ayler my old NIV Reference Bible (from 2010) for later in life. HA! Eric and I talked about life on the way there ("Christmas spirit?" "Well, I can't bitch about it being too early to mention Christmas..."), Wo's Restaurant, his not seeing Jon's new place apart from moving help, that Kwong Chow dinner, and his asking if I liked hot or cold yoga. Hahaha, no! I do know there are places near Jeremy's that offer it, though. We passed by the Boiling Point Hot Soup Restaurant which I'd seen on Yelp a couple years ago, too. The Canucks played Toronto at 4 today, and won 2-1, which I heard about later. When we got to Jeremy's apartment, I could hear what seemed like Randal pontificating on something, so I commented on this to Eric in a low voice. After hearing a little more of this "pontificating," I understood that it was the pre-dinner prayer. Oh well!

I saw Ayler and Hiero for two minutes as they were getting ready to leave with Harmony, and Ayler greeted me with "You should be here earlier!" Hahaha! I told him that Eric had had to work from home today, so that hadn't been possible. Then Jon said that I could have been there earlier had I not been too lazy to take the bus. Whatever - Eric had enabled it by being home when I called his cell at 2:30 to see what was going on after he hadn't answered my email reply last night! I asked Ayler if that meant he wanted to see me more, and he said yes. I think that's a good sign, so I said I'd see him on Monday. "And then Wednesday!" he said. No, that isn't going to happen! I managed to offload the Bible to Harmony since she had the cleanest hands out of her and the kids before they left. Later, Jon said that if I didn't hear from him, I should come on Monday - his student had been sick last week, so he'll call to see if the lesson is still going on. I also said that I'd sent Steph his address, so she'll send him that baby card with Henry (but I said "some mail") when she gets around to it. I gave Jeremy his FROSTY THE SNOWMAN Advent calendar, which he apparently really loved because he used to watch that exact FROSTY THE SNOWMAN cartoon religiously as a child! Hahaha, I'm glad that he really loved it! Of course he thanked me! He was also surprised at the pile of mostly change that I dumped on the donations table, deciding to raise my payment by two loonies and a toonie. (Jon's smoker friend Edwin left at this point, too)

I talked to Dilys and Trish about using Ayler and Hiero's leftover mugs (kid cooties can't get us!), wedding card / wedding thanks etiquette, early Christmas decorating / Christmas songs, Jesse's brother Hubert holding hands with a girl named Amanda at their first group meetup at a movie (that worked for them), Steph / Lisa / Fraser / Henry (Dilys had seen Steph and Lisa with my parents at a White Spot on Kingsway [?] while she was pregnant with Fraser), cookbooks, reading books, non-fiction, swearing around kids, hillbilly society, and documentaries after saying hi to a guy named Jonathan / Caleb / Jesse / Christon / Gino / Quan / Rebecca. Then I finally got a chance to ask Kevin whether he'd received the MEGA SUSHI email two months ago (couldn't do it at the Wo's Restaurant dinner), but he said that it must not have come through his inbox, then apologized. Nothing to be done about that!

Later, the phone was off the hook, so some people showed up randomly. I told Dilys that at the last dinner, I had accidentally locked Jon out of the apartment when he came back from taking the kids home with Harmony; I'd locked Jeremy's apartment door out of habit! I shouted over the music to ask Randal about NaNoWriMo, but he hadn't done it. He did say that there was a local challenge to write a novel in three days - yeah, I could never do that! Also, he mentioned that it was too loud with the music and other conversations. Not as bad as the Shark Club, man! I said hi to Ivan, who said I looked the same with my festive "jeweled" shirt and Santa hat - OF COURSE! Dilys asked if the clock chimed - yes, it did! Someone asked whether Jeremy had a VHS collection, but nope! He did have vinyl records, for sure! Christon told us about the Willingdon café $5 meal ministry before he left early.

Later, Jeremy was showing Trish some Christmas ornaments and decorations (including candy canes, which my nephews had recognized) on the Christmas tree. Lots of yearly ornaments and inheritances from his grandma! There was a bird feeder decoration from his grandma, and Eric wanted to ask Jeremy whether there was a leftover Communion glass there. Nobody heard him, so I used my existing NG lungpower to relay the question. Jeremy gave us a look, looked at the decoration again, and laughed - there was indeed a Communion cup! I had to laugh and said that Eric had NAILED IT! Ivan, Randal, Eric, and I talked about "accident" kids like Hiero and Ivan's brother Nathan, kids ten months apart, Richmond life, renting, his paying cheap rent to his parents, night shifts / managerial positions not being worth it for sleep / money considerations, the high gasoline prices (147.9?), Ivan's having to make FOUR trips to and from Richmond / Steveston to the Italian Cultural Centre because Stanley's wedding cake fell through (but they then got 500 different doughnuts from Steveston - PLAN BETTER FOR LESS DRIVING!), a pharmacist job, the new Shoppers Drug Mart near my place, the Richmond Centre Shoppers Drug Mart, patients wanting to set him up with their kids, my mom wanting to set me up with John Law once, how Mom acts when she's drunk (like the mooncake at Thanksgiving lunch 2007 at the townhouse - Kevin said that I had a good memory if Randal couldn't remember what happened WHEN HE HAD BEEN THERE!), Dad and others getting old, and the declining attendance at VCEFC.

I remembered to ask about the small group situation (Crossroads), but everyone in existing positions is overstressed and overstretched because there are fewer people around since they've left for various reasons. Awana is still a thing, but the leader-to-kid ratio is something like one leader to eight kids, as opposed to one leader for three or four kids like when I was doing it with Anita and Melia. The Fellowship situation may be starting up again with another version of David Fellowship, but lots of people have pre-existing small group commitments once or twice a month already, so the connection aspect may not be there if people only go to the big group once a month or so. Eric and I left at around 10:10, after I'd asked Ivan whether the church website had a livestreaming service, but he and Eric just chuckled - nope, probably not, although I do remember that they record the services and put them up at some point during the week.

When we left after I had drunken trouble with my winter jacket (Jeremy laughed - but I did thank him for hosting and all of that), Eric wondered if I'd had an enjoyable evening - I had, and so had he. He reminded himself not to go into robot mode, and I reminded him again when we got near that important turn-off. In the parking lot at 10:30, I asked what it meant if the computer restarted randomly or Windows didn't start up properly some of the time. I'm sure it could be a number of things, but I didn't want to set up something right then. He isn't even going to church tomorrow because he has a lot of work to do! I'll just email him later sometime, but it is time for bed now! Yep, Jimmy seems odd in the "wait a minute - why are you not saying anything?" way, but it's best to leave that alone.

I went shopping at 3:55 today after COFFEE TIME: I was planning to get a sandwich, discount Halloween chocolate, and some sensitive toothpaste. Instead, I got this stuff at Shoppers Drug Mart: nut-free Cadbury Festive Friends cookies for Fraser, a discounted Halloween 24-pack of Wunderbar / Caramilk / Mr. Big / Crispy Crunch mini chocolate bars from Cadbury, an egg salad sandwich from Gourmet and Go, on-sale Lay's chips x2 (BLT and ketchup), a Gourmet and Go falafel wrap, on-sale Lipton Cup-A-Soup x4 (tomato soup with croutons), and on-sale Arm and Hammer sensitive toothpaste. While I was there, I went to the post office to buy a bubble-wrap envelope (NO TRACKING NUMBER OR BOX!) and then mail Lena's Lindt gingerbread chocolate truffles and bonus Hanukkah card to Colorado. Then I finally got home at 5 on a 407 - not bad!

From Julie M. and Pinterest: I hate when the credit card reader at the checkout asks if the amount is okay. No... it's not. I want all this crap for a dollar!

"You Are Psychopathy"

At your darkest times, your heart turns cold. You can operate without concern for anybody but yourself.
You may not have a psychopath, but you have the charm and calculation of one. It just depends on whether you want to turn it on.

While psychopaths are dangerous, your cool demeanor can serve you and the world well... if you let it.
Your lack of anxiety means you can navigate emergencies and stressful situations better than most people. Not much gets under your skin.

"You Practice Self-Care Regularly"

You are a pro at self-care, and you make sure to take time for yourself every day. You run on full... not empty!
While some people may worry about putting themselves first too much, you don't give it a second thought. You know what you need.

By taking good care of yourself, you can take better care of others. You have plenty of resources to go around.
If only everyone practiced as much self-care as you do, the world would be a much happier place!

"You Are Tough"

You are deep and resilient. You can get through anything, and you always have the ability to dig deep.
Your good deeds go unnoticed, and you don't mind being part of a group effort. You're happy to work behind the scenes.

When it comes to fashion, you have your own unique style. You update it over time, but you rarely change your overall look.
You dress to work hard and be comfortable - nothing too fancy. However, you also add some fun subtle flair.

"You Are Roasted Vegetables"

You are a bit of a homebody, and there's no better time to be at home than the holidays. You love this part of the year.
You feel the most productive and centered when you're at home. No matter how small, your home is truly your castle.

You live a simple and uncomplicated life. You think the most important thing is to make yourself happy.
You see less as more because you make sure to make it more. Nothing is too small or inconsequential for you to enjoy.

"You Are House of Yes"

Your family tends to prefer a picture-perfect holiday, but you can only fake it for so long.
You've got serious history with these people, and you're not one to brush over the past. Even for Thanksgiving!

You are a bit of an oddball yourself, and you tend to have strong passions. Some would call them obsessions.
Once you get your mind set on something, you're not going to change it. You tend to be single focused.

SO FUCKING TRUE!
glowing_dragon: (Consumer Whore)
I left at 1:55 on a 407 to make it to Jon and Harmony's and the store prior to playing with Ayler and Hiero before Thanksgiving Dinner. Since I left so early, I went to Shoppers Drug Mart to see if they had sriracha sauce. They did, as well as on-sale Scaeros / Coffin Crisp / Ghostly Kit-Kats / Scaries, plus NEW Korean BBQ Kettle chips! After that, I walked over to IndigoSpirit to see if they had the newest Bathroom Reader: Uncle John's OLD FAITHFUL 30th Anniversary Bathroom Reader (Bathroom Readers' Institute). They didn't since they were only limited distribution in BC, but I did manage to have someone help me at a kiosk so I could just have the book shipped to me at home this week. It saves me another trip out to the mall even if it is nearby! That took a while, but I still managed to be at Jon's place by maybe about 3:15 or so! Ayler asked me what I'd do if they moved downtown - well, I would probably take the train and the bus out to wherever they would be living!

The boys fought with each other as usual (and Hiero fell off the couch's armrest!), but I might have distracted them with the promise of reading to them. Ayler asked if he could sit on my lap, which was fine until my legs started falling asleep. There was a kiddy book with Legos to describe Bible stories, Chinese characters books, a Taan Moon book, a body book, and other things. Randal came over for a piano lesson and stayed for dinner afterwards. Dinner was beef stew with tendons, carrots, and typical Pho garnishes like bean sprouts (and Vietnamese subs!), plus an apricot / grain salad with feta and ricotta cheeses... so non-traditional, but still good! Probably a good thing that I have a turkey backup here at home! Jeremy came over later, which livened the evening up and made it more silly. We talked about Jeremy's cold, baby Henry's banquet (Jon can't attend because of Stanley's wedding on November 19 - but he doesn't even know what he's doing for it?!), Fred becoming a cop in Toronto (and seeing "shades of grey" in morality), the Whip, 12 Kings, Jen being way more conservative / less liberal than she was when we met her, documentaries, Tom Petty, Youtube jams, C+C Music Factory, LL Cool J, Ace of Base, pissing off Auntie Wylene with Salt-N-Pepa and Green Day back in 1994, Bob Dylan / Keith Richards, Silverchair, Bush, and seeing how much the kids knew about fall. We told them that Canadian Thanksgiving was in October and the United States had theirs in November, wanted to know if the leaves would turn blue, and generally had fun with them.

Ayler wanted to tie knots with his Vietnamese noodles, while Hiero wanted to bite the very hard pomelo rind to see if he could eat it that way. That's not how those things work! I saw a kindergarten worksheet with a colorful turkey on it - Ayler had managed to write his own name on it in a reasonably legible fashion! Jeremy brought up the possibility of becoming pregnant when you're already pregnant, so I said that of course there was a name for that: SUPERFETATION! Then he said that it sounded like I got that from a Bathroom Reader: he's SO RIGHT! Of course I had to tell them that I ordered the newest one to ship to my place! At about 7, I left after watching Hiero play train tracks by himself, bidding Jeremy a good night and thanking Jon and Harmony for the dinner. Jon actually thanked me for hanging out early with the kids, surprisingly. Harmony said that it was still pretty stressful since they haven't found a new location to move to yet, and they only have three weeks left in this place!

Ayler and Hiero also surprised me by wanting hugs before I left, so of course I obliged. I would NOT do "falling hugs" as Ayler wanted, though. Why? BECAUSE THEY WOULD HURT! On my way home, I decided to stop by the Oakridge Safeway to see if they had a "fabled" chicken-bacon-ranch sandwich as Milan Penner (Jen now has the same last name as she does!) had told me about YEARS ago in CANUCKS NATION or whatever the group chat was called then. I'd forgotten about that till Jimmy said something about it in Facebook messenger recently since she wants to meet him at some point. The Safeway did have made-to-order sandwiches at the deli, which was good enough for me. The sandwich even had guacamole, and I was also able to pay for a second bottle of sriracha sauce right there at the deli counter instead of having to go to the cash register just for that. I got home at 8:20 on a 407, and talked to the Canucks fan chat and Discord for a bit. Now, bedtime!

"You Are Balanced"

You're the type who likes everything in moderation, and you're especially good at balancing out life's extremes.
You are a bit of a novelty seeker, and you like to have a really good mix of things in your life. There is always room for something or someone new.

You meld well with many different types of people, and you can bridge the gap in groups where members have little in common.
You don't take anything in life too personally and seriously. If you have a bad day or week, you know things will eventually even out.

From Reddit on July 27, 2017: Stop whining, StripedPinkBoxers. "The phrase "girl crush" upholds heteronormativity in such an unnecessary way!" I personally don't think so. I'm cool if you're LGBT, but you have to realize that heterosexuality (and monogamy) is the assumed default for society! In the past, she's even tried challenging me on what I'd think if Nephew #4 was in fact a girl. Nice try, but I'd treat a nephew and a niece the same basic way! I'm also definitely not a fan of people abbreviating "THOUGH" as "tho." Also, LegsForAboutAnHour is a prostitute who got raped.

glowing_dragon: (French Toast)
Now that the HTML posting option on Blogthings finally works again (for now?), I can post all the drafts I've saved!

"You Are Shakshuka"

You love comfort and feeling cozy, but you are also open to new experiences. You crave warmth of all sorts.
You are a bit of an oddball, and you wouldn't have it any other way. You are a person of substance - not just of quirks.

You are a skilled nurturer, both of others and of yourself. You believe that taking care of people is the ultimate goal.
You are a passionate person, and you try to shy away from anything that's a little too average. You make the bold choice when you can.

"You Are Pretty Adaptable"

You know when it's time to be flexible, but you also know when to stand your ground. You assess every situation as it comes.
You've got a lot that's working for you in your life. You're willing to improve, but you're not going to throw it away for the latest thing.

People may say that you should be more adaptable, but it's likely that they just want you to adapt to their ways!
Above all, you tend to be a realist who is living in the present. You know a good opportunity when you see one, but you also can sense when something is a waste of time.

From Julie: I don't really have a plan, most days. Just caffeine and weirdness, my friend. Caffeine and weirdness. THIS IS TOTALLY ME!
