Jon sent me a Facebook message at 8:50 AM to wonder if I could come over at 2:15 today instead because Harmony had to pick up Hiero from school and actually wanted to be on time, and Ayler wasn't feeling well. I assumed I had to hold down the fort there, especially when he called a few minutes later after I'd already sent my reply to ask if they were puking or loopy, so I agreed. Then Barry left me a voicemail, but I delete those, so I called him back to find out that he wanted to move grocery shopping to Thursday instead of tomorrow. What did they do - leave the messages and then run away within two seconds?! Sheesh!

Later, I had some New England Clam Chowder today for National New England Clam Chowder Day, right when Harmony sent me a text wondering if I could come slightly earlier. That's on the buses, not on me! After COFFEE TIME, I went out at 1 on an 401 to help with the kids, just missing the early C94 and the early 407. The 3 was seven minutes LATE at Marine Drive Station! GEEZ! I finally got to Jon's at 2:15 - so much for shortly BEFORE that time! At least there were no random two-minute stops along the route, wheelchair / stroller delays, or elevator shenanigans today!

When I got there, Harmony and Beckett left within five minutes, but Beckett did show me his Gorilla Munch cereal, which were indeed balls! He also showed me a huge yellow Blockbuster chip bowl and the blue tub, which he had fun with later. It was good to have some time alone with Ayler, who thinks that I won't get what he has because his dad said so. Haha, I wish germs and viruses worked that way! We talked about Fraser, Henry, racetracks, the school secretary, no nurses at the school, Harmony just driving to the school today (walking 30 blocks in the rain with a toddler in a carrier?!), my phone photos and calculating how many seconds were in a year by using the Calculator app, hand sanitizer, texting, oranges, what it meant when you vomited, water, and reading some children's Bible stories like the Good Samaritan / the Feeding of the 5000 with fish and loaves / Daniel in the lion's den. He wanted to teach Beckett about word patterns and especially the word "gun" since Beckett will repeat anything. Uncle Joe has taught him "hit your butt!" in Cantonese since it's funny.

Everyone else came home at 3:40 (thus ending our freedom to talk), and Beckett had fun with his toys and plopping into my lap to "read" the summertime book and the Christmas piano book cover because he saw "balls" (ornaments) on there. No wonder the piano had wings - there was Santa in his sleigh, too! I gave Hiero his birthday card, which he seemed to like - he also was enamored with the Creature toy I'd given him on Sunday. Hiero opened all the rest of his birthday presents - turned out that Mom had forgotten to write in the birthday card she gave him, but had also given them a pack of Ontrue seaweed in the regular flavor! He also got at least four Lego sets, a PAW PATROL puzzle set, a science toy, and Rain or Shine ice cream gift cards! His friend Leanne gave him three gifts - WOW! Beckett stood on top of a puzzle box (and wanted some grey robot toys - saying "MINE!" when they were Hiero's), and I accidentally squished the Lego STAR WARS box.

We had peas and macaroni in soup with some grapes, cherry tomatoes, and sticky rice while discussing last week's snow and other things. Ayler said the soup was salty, but it really wasn't - it was really bland and just what you might want if you were sick with tummy upset. Beckett threw cheese and some other things on the floor, but liked his cereal as usual - and smiled BIG for the Vitamin D tablets! I had some leftover cheesecake while the kids had some orange Jello which was rather liquidy in consistency! Hiero did some "home reading" with me - but I had to sound out words and make sure he knew what was going on. Beckett and I played with balls, the stacking blocks ("doggy!"), and the toy train which can zoom on the wooden floor. When I showed him my doggy slipper socks from Grandma Joan, he sniffed them and played around with the "ears" - silly kid!

Just as I was about to leave at 7:25 (with Beckett saying "BYE BYE!" in a serious manner a few times), Ayler vomited on the bathroom floor and surrounding floor area! Yes, I could stay even later because that had happened and Harmony had to do clean-up. She barricaded the area with a garbage can and laundry basket, while I made sure Beckett stayed on the mat. That meant he could read even more, relax with the blanket, look out the window at the lights, and call the new 3-D Glowing Planets "boh-boh"! When Hiero took things like the action figures away from Beckett, he cried - so of course I gave him some hugs and told him that his brother was terrible! Lately, Beckett has learned the word "help" and is using it in the proper context instead of just pointing at things and vocalizing - good job! He usually needs it to get balls out from under the couch, or to get balls out from small boxes and blocks!

Turns out Ayler requested that I stay to watch him eat his banana and drink some water while Harmony bathed everyone else. Sure, why not? We talked about applesauce, tuna NOT being part of the BRAT diet, the school having a janitor / custodian at least, my opinion that he should probably stay home, math, "my baby" being Beckett, Beckett's talking in his sleep (to say "please" and other simple words), and more things. I finally left at 8:10 (encountering an Evo driver who liked driving on the sidewalk...) and got home at 9:35 on a 407. PHEW! Extended Nephew Time on BOTH ends of the time spectrum!

I discovered that Andre had unfriended / blocked me on Facebook - WHAT THE HECK?! Eric picked me up at 8:50 AM so I could use church as a vehicle to get to the Osborne Gym at UBC for Hiero's 6th birthday party. It helps that his hockey is all the way out at UBC, too... and it turned out that his hockey building is practically right next to the Robert Osborne building! He said that the LUFIA music sounded like something crazy was going on at my place - HAHAHA! I packed the Creature Chumpers toy (but forgot the birthday card), a bottled water, my Doge bag, and the other Starbucks Cold Brew before putting my boots on just in case of slush. Made my bag heavier, but it was okay. Eric and I listened to the radio for a bit until some guy came on who just monologues at you all the time - not his thing, and not mine either!

When we got to church, there was still plenty of parking across the street. As I thought, the car door went CLONK into a slush accumulation. Luckily, Eric could pull forward a bit so I could go into the nearby parking lot and then cross the street after getting on the clear sidewalk. I waited around outside the sanctuary, saying hey to Joe. When we were allowed to go inside, I said hi to Geoffrey and Sheena, and was respectful of the service. Hiero was there with Jon (who was preaching today), so I asked him if he wanted his birthday gift now or later... of course he chose now, before the Children's Sunday School.

I realized I'd forgotten the birthday card, but I can always give it to him later. He seemed out of it for some reason, but I wouldn't find out why till much later. Then he was trying to get Jon's attention, but he was busy talking to Pastor Dan. When I got back from the handicapped restroom (seeing empty water jugs inside and hoping a grandma didn't have to use it), Hiero had gotten Jon's attention, who told him to say thank you. I said that he already had (when I prompted him), so of course he didn't have to say it again! I did see Uncle Eric and Auntie Brenda at different times, and an uncle said hi to me as well.

Jon had an engaging sermon on Mark and seeds, at least. Even Julie S. agreed with me later on! I said hi to Sam, Auntie Cathy, Auntie Catherine (hug), Auntie Esther (hug), Cordia's mom, Helen C., Joe T., Ivan, Lesley, Dylan / Deb / Declan / Elysse (who thinks it's crazy that Hiero will be her age by next week AND who was eating sugar cubes), Cordia / Amasiah / Julie S. / Denise (who sent a photo of me to Steph) / Julie M., Auntie Susan x2 (Karen Grace's mom and Vivian's mom), Darren L., Martin T., Acer, and others. I could hear Acer swearing in the fellowship hall while talking about DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS, but whatever.

Soon enough, it was just a little group of me, Eric, Cordia, Amasiah, their friend Jeremy, and Acer since everyone else was staying for the Larry and Bella Mori missionary lunch before Missions Fest later in the month. Once we were shushed by Auntie Ada (Benedict's mom) since the Cantonese service was going on, we moved to the stairs, where I noticed a few minutes later that we were blocking the way, so we stood around a little outside the sanctuary in the "hall" until the bench cleared up. We still had to watch our volume, though!

Jeremy insisted he wasn't a weeb just because he went to Japan with some guys - including Acer's cousin - and had to translate for the group, Cordia said she's accepted who she is, and said that Amasiah was morbid like me - SWEET! We talked about the Japan trip, Japanese people KNOWING when you're "foreign" to them even if you're Asian and fluent in the language, Sharon's health woes in the Osoyoos (being literally stuck at home), 80 cents for a medium bottle of milk tea in Japan, the Mori kids Timothy and Tiffany, Molly, people following others on Instagram, pressuring Amasiah to buy some Pokemon figurine on Amazon since she didn't in Hong Kong, my trip, the snow and slush, anime / manga, otaku people, Discord, and lunch plans. Eric and I went upstairs to see if we could get some extra $2 sandwiches (Benedict had five pink tickets from his mom!), but he decided not to bother or distract anyone in the rooms, which I noticed are now labelled. They even upgraded the water cooler from a huge jug to a black self-cleaning one!

A few minutes later at 1:25, Eric asked if I was cool with going to Broadway / Cambie instead. Sure, why not? We could get fast food burgers, so we went to A and W where he kindly paid for my Mama Burger and we shared his fries before going to Pacific Spirit Park and a parking garage on UBC campus. He pressed the crosswalk button for me in the rainy weather, and showed me which building to go into. I went into the Robert Osborne building, connected to the Wi-Fi, and looked for a specific gym on the Evite to no avail, so I had to text Harmony about it. "No, gym" is not really a great answer to "should I meet you on the second floor?" when there are at least three gyms and lots of lockers in the entire place... as I told Steph, I wonder how many "where is this place specifically?" calls and texts they got before the birthday party.

Jon and Harmony were actually early with the kids, probably because they had to sign a waiver and were nominally hosting 15 kids and their parents. I showed Beckett the balls that he had dropped in my bag, but he seemed too out of it even for just waking up. He did look at them with widened eyes, but said nothing. After I met Hiero's friends Emmett and Huxley (what a name!), I heard that Hiero had puked on the gymnastics equipment when Harmony was explaining what had happened in Chinese to her parents! IRRESPONSIBLE AND GROSS! WHY WOULD YOU SUBJECT KIDS TO THAT?! Even Ayler was complaining of feeling sick at the end of everything later! While I was there, Chinese Eric replied to my text about the All-Star Game, saying he'd get back to me later. Why don't you figure it out first, man? I'm not like my ex Mike who wants an almost-instant response! Uncle Joe and Auntie Wing ended up driving me home after the refreshments since Costco closes early on Sundays, so I got home at 6:25. AWESOME!

Random stuff from Mom and Dad, who definitely wanted the tiny tote bag back if Mom dug through my bag for it: Cao Is Starvingbase Chongqing instant noodles, Paldo Jjajangmen Chajang instant noodles, Country Life pure soap, a random floral soap circle, Princess Cruises Lotus Spa shower gel x2, a shoe brush, a Bath Aquatics h2O+ bath bar, and Ontrue roasted seaweed x2 in green tea flavor! It's MINE after I put it in my bag - come on now, WAIT FOR ME TO GET BACK FROM THE WASHROOM AND THEN ASK PERMISSION! Even Beckett has more respect than that! When he dropped his balls in my bag, he just stood by the bag and didn't go through it... I'm sure he doesn't have the words to ask about the balls, but that doesn't matter!

The Tiger Tiger Sukiyaki noodles did come with a lot of packets in the bowl with the handy lid, all crammed inside!

After DOUBLE COFFEE TIME, I went out at 6:55 on a 401 to meet Chrystal at the Broadway London Drugs. Good thing I left early since the next Waterfront train was out of service at what HAD BEEN a surprisingly empty Brighouse Station! There was some guy clapping like a seal on the bus and at the station - thank goodness he wasn't in my train car! I got to London Drugs at 7:30, and was happy that there was no lineup at the post office so I could mail Corey and Julie's cards. However, I got a postal worker who was grumpy as fuck: I have NEVER been told that I shouldn't write anything in the corner of the envelope, otherwise the stamp would obscure the destination address! Fuck you, random guy!

Chrystal and I went to Pho Extreme Xe Lua: #17 and #1 it was! SPECIAL! We talked about her nephews Ethan (4) and Ethan (1 and a bit), Ayler, Hiero, Beckett discovering new words and the door, Beckett being "smart" by banging his head on the hardwood floor to delay Harmony's leaving for a school meeting, Beckett being really smart by putting all his molecule balls on the far windowsill so he can play with those and look at the reflected lights across the street at the same time (I left him to do that for a minute - he's fine and preoccupied), my broken suitcase, my replacement suitcase, my upcoming trip, and her just doing family things at home this holiday season. Angus and Melia and Phil and Grace have their own families now, and it would be pretty huge to have a family gathering! I got home at 9:05 on a 407, which is pretty good for leaving at 8:30. (Chrystal bused home again!)

DOUBLE COFFEE TIME! Waiting for Auntie Bessy at Kam Do Bakery this morning proved to be a waste of 40 minutes all told. Good thing I just managed to get the 401 on the way there and the 407 on the way back, getting home at 9:40 AM when I'd left at 8:50 AM! Ugh! The Canucks played Winnipeg today at 5, and lost 4-1... ANOTHER EMPTY-NET GOAL?!

I then left at 7:40 to go to the IGA at Garden City Centre at Blundell, but first encountered a lady at the bus stop who somehow just could NOT wait ten minutes for a cigarette! She scrutinized the bus schedule and knew that the 401 would come in four minutes, so what did she do? Why, sat down on the bench and lit up a smoke, of course! Karma came for her in the form of a 401, so she had to butt it out on the bench before she got on the bus and then had a major coughing fit before she and a male companion got off at Minoru, presumably to smoke prior to whatever they REALLY wanted to do!

At least I saw that bus stop advertisement for Ocean's Tuna: Ginger Lemon Sesame, Peri-Peri, and Sundried Tomato Tapenade! Wasted my time at IGA too, since they didn't have the Fresh Gourmet The Better Chip in Jalapeno flavor: "It's a Walmart brand!" they said as I bought NEW Pillsbury Pizza Pops in Double Cheeseburger flavor. I eventually got home at 9:25 after having to kill half an hour at Richmond Centre and buying frozen President's Choice Brussels sprouts and frozen President's Choice broccoli florets.

After I had COFFEE TIME, Barry picked me up at 11:50 and we went banking and to Price Smart. I got ginger and green onion tripe for World Tripe Day tomorrow, Mamee Chicken / Vegetarian noodles, GOOD TASTE dumplings x4 (JOY dumplings being the same price now and not $1 cheaper?!), NEW Nissin Ra'Oh noodles (Citrus / Pork / Soya / Miso), bananas, NEW Earth's Own chocolate oat milk, Earth's Own regular oat milk, NEW on-sale Chapman's Strawberry Shortcake ice cream, Catelli Smart rotini / Catelli Smart penne, Scaries, Hunt's Snack Pack chocolate fudge / tapioca puddings, on-sale Awkward / Irritable / Indecisive Snickers bars, NEW on-sale Nature Valley granola cups (Peanut Butter Chocolate / Almond Butter), on-sale Prego Fresh Mushroom pasta sauce, NEW Liberté raspberry Skyr yogurt, NEW Tokyo Mini Instant Noodles in Mild Curry flavor, a Stouffer's Sauté Sensations Chicken Alfredo microwaveable meal, and a NEW Swanson Skillet Garlic Shrimp microwaveable meal. It's National Punctuation Day today... MY FAVORITE! After COFFEE TIME, I had to leave at 2 on a 401 and then a 410 (which I just got to on time, no thanks to idiots blocking my path on the sidewalk) for my appointment with Dr. Ruby before I helped with the kids. That was uncomfortable - I also saw a professional Audrey. Also, I had to buy more NEW Beehive Burst Peppermint lip balm at the Dollar Tree since there was no photo online that I could find, so I had to take my own photo. (I had ripped mine open last week before I figured this out...) I was there on time, but STILL had to wait 20 minutes to be seen! UGH! I should have gone to Dollar Tree before rather than after! Then I tried to speedwalk over to Lansdowne station a block and a half away, and just missed a Waterfront train thanks to these two slow ladies on the elevator going down.

When I got to Marine Drive station, I definitely needed a snack, so I went to Tim Horton's. Luckily, there was no lineup, so I got a non-sticky cheese tea biscuit and then got out of there to find that a wheelchair wanted to get on the 3 as well. Then a stroller wanted to get on - at least this one contained a fairly curious kid who growled and made various noises, unlike the other stroller who got on after that one left! After another delay caused by the driver stopping in the middle of the road for five minutes to check an alarm that was going off, I finally got to Mount Pleasant at about 4:20 when I could have been there at 4:05! Too many delays! Yeah, I used Term to complain to via text, haha.

Inside, Penny was just finishing up speech therapy while Beckett was failing at napping again. Almost right after Penny left, it was off to the park across the street because Harmony wanted to walk Beckett around the playground to see if he'd nap then. Spoiler alert: He did not. Ayler asked if I wanted to play tag or Manhunt - no, because I had run out of energy and was like a car which had run out of gas. Hiero asked why I walked how I did, so maybe Jon and Harmony should talk to him about it at some point. Once we got home again after more promises of consequences, I got to play with Beckett for a bit. He liked the baby pop-up toy because it made him laugh more than usual, wanted me to shake my head a lot because it was funny, liked PEEK-A-BOO as per Hiero, tried eating my DRAGON HOODIE strings again, and climbed on me a few times. (he did pull Hiero's hair, though!)

At the same time, Hiero was trying to show me his origami. Blowing up squares to make huge boxes, oh my! Later, I stayed close as Beckett crawled on the couch despite Ayler telling me not to let him do it. Well, you're doing and completing a HUGE connect-the-dots puzzle, so I'll do what I want while keeping Beckett safe in my own way, including trying to put on one of his missing socks. We had salmon, congee, Chinese chicken soup, meatballs with ketchup and barbecue sauce, some veggies, and ridiculous amounts of shredded pork. Then we talked about whether Jon had been shot today at the Downtown Eastside (he was fine and didn't have to lie on the floor as per Hiero's question), why people shoot at each other ("because some people think that the best way to resolve their problems is with guns" and "that's why we don't joke about guns"), my Cactus Club birthday dinner, Ayler seeing Brooke early this morning ("how do you know?"), Hiero doing flips and gymnastics in the elevator earlier and being injured, and how much everyone in the family could eat compared to each other.

After I washed dishes for a bit, I read to Hiero about Optimus Prime and the Decepticons, then listened to Ayler play a boogie on the piano before listening to him read a Level 2 story about polar bears. Sure I had to help him with some words, but that's normal. I left at 7:20, but couldn't get a 3 bus till 7:40 thanks to a couple of buses being out of service! I missed a Brighouse train by five minutes, and JUST managed to get a 407 at Brighouse, no thanks to people blocking my path where I was going to run to the front door of the bus. Do I really have to shove my way past other people all the time to get where I'm going in a timely fashion?! I got home at 8:35, checked my mail, and found Julie's birthday card plus random stuff - yay!

Random stuff: Nathan returning the OUTLANDER novel to me, six packs of Compliments Safeway brand spicy chicken instant noodles, and yet another pair of reading glasses. Good thing I didn't buy the Jergens lotion today because of all the walking I had to do, AND the utter weight of the 650-page paperback book!

Today is Retirement Day! After texting and calling a semi-sick Chinese Eric about his birthday plans while having COFFEE TIME and SHOWER TIME, I went out at 1 on a 407 to see Rishu at Touchstone. I texted Chinese Eric on and off today, and he wanted to know what kind of food he should pick up since I was home by 4:10 on a 407. I said nothing, but I should have gotten him to get the Dr. Oetker cheesecakes from Safeway or the Hazelnut Spread M&M candies! When he got here at 4:50 after the annoying parking pass business, he ate most of the Tropical Salsa kettle chips and most of the Old Dutch Humpty Dumpty cheese sticks: Habanero with Blue Cheese! Yes, of course he could open the window, and he asked me whether I had any of "those chips." Turns out he meant the Indomie Goreng chips, and the London Drugs near his place is out of the way, so I guess I'll pick some up and he can pay me back next time he comes over. Gotta keep the receipt, for sure!

We talked about fast goals, the St. Louis Blues / San Jose Sharks playoff game and referee controversy, the Toronto Raptors / Milwaukee Bucks basketball game (I heard squeaking - that was the shoes on the court), Kawhi Leonard (what a name...), Lebron James, white Eric, Christon's wedding, the FARTING ANIMALS coloring book, his asking his mom about surgery, my text messages being "a lot to read" while driving (just do it...), some CD release party / gig that Jon had invited us both to, and my surgery. Yep, it was a good hangout - he left at 7:40, so I could relax and finally start time by myself. Today was pretty busy! Maybe we CAN hang out next time for the final Stanley Cup playoff round! "I have a gift for you - have a salsa chip!" Haha!

Yesterday, Holly invited me to Steveston Pizza at her place tonight. Nobody was going to have the $850 pizza! ("SEENAY: Medley of tiger prawns, lobster ratatouille, smoked steelhead, Russian Osetra caviar, snowed with Italian white truffles $850") After I showered and had COFFEE TIME, Brian kindly picked me up at the hospital at 7:10 even though the pizza place was way closer to his apartment. We chatted about the expensive pizza (a MOUND of seafood on the order before his?!) and the NHL Draft Pick Lottery Day before getting to Holly's, where I unsuccessfully completed a call to her. She wanted to throw her keys down to us again, but actually answered the door instead once she realized Brian had five pizza boxes.

I said hey to Darryl and Paulo, informing Paulo that the temporary crosswalk was now closed off. He put his head in his hands and said, "I hate it..." Trust me, I understand ANY ranting he has to do on the issue! We all talked about life, Vegas, walking a lot on the LONG Strip blocks, online people, chatrooms, drunkenness, dodgy stuff, seeing family members, work schedules, Holly's new job starting tomorrow, dead people, being a travel agent, working with the general public, and upcoming plans. As usual, I have none. I did almost forget my jacket, oops. Darryl called me by name when we said bye to him outside, which shouldn't really be a surprise. Brian dropped me and Paulo off at about 9:40, which is pretty good. I actually have time to blog without being rushed off to do other things!

It's MARIO DAY today! I had to leave really early after DOUBLE COFFEE TIME because I had to walk to Brighouse station - thanks, endless sewer upgrades and construction! I had the on-sale Lindt chocolate bars (Caramel and Sea Salt / Lime Zest) for Harmony's EARLY family birthday dinner at Como Taperia! (early in more ways than one...) Jimmy was also bothering me about intimate hair details and wanting to "have fun" on his birthday when he KNEW I had things to do before I left at a certain time. NO MEANS NO! Fuck him! I killed time by purchasing a replacement red sweatshirt at H and M, where I also saw a DRAGON HOODIE! :D

We had a bunch of seafood and tapas (octopus / garlic and bread soup / (mashed) potatoes / eggs) while baby Beckett screamed happily at me (rivaling the restaurant's 80s music), Ayler wanted to check the weather everywhere, and Hiero liked constructing Cheerio towers through his toothpicks. Mom said she had to pay more money to prevent me from accessing data, and that the dinner was $168; if you think I feel guilty about that, YOU'RE WRONG! Then we had to go to Auntie Eva's to drop something off before the parental trip to Hong Kong to see Great-Aunt and cruise around. At least they'll be away from Wednesday to the end of March! I finally got home at 6:45!

I was woken up at 5 AM by a loud piercing noise from across the street. Ugh, construction... no wonder "a loud piercing howl" is a Runaway Dog enemy attack in Earthbound... COFFEE TIME x2! I also learned that this construction will be 24/7 till the end of May... they're an exemption to the noise bylaw?! WHAT THE FUCK!

It's International Women's Day today! After DOUBLE COFFEE TIME, I left the apartment at 1:55 because I had to walk to Brighouse station and be on time to see Rachel at The Caring Place - thanks, endless construction and sewer upgrades! I even got a snack of a mixed fruit bar, grape juice, and a Smarties chocolate egg for International Women's Day at the end of the session. PHEW! Yes, I got angry and frustrated at Rachel, but she was fine with it. LET ME VENT FIRST!

After COFFEE TIME, I attempted to get to the eye clinic at 1 using the bus stop across the street, but NO! THAT ONE WAS ALSO NON-OPERATIONAL, which I only found out after waiting 20 minutes! So while I was out, I went to the pharmacy next door and asked about the measles shot after using the building's wifi to send some photos to myself. According to Adam, I don't strictly need it - phew! Then I went home and officially cancelled my appointment.

Later, in view of all this shit, I called Mom to see if they could pick me up tomorrow instead - they can do that at 11, so that's better for me. The Canucks played Colorado at 6:30 tonight... the game went to overtime and a shootout, but they lost 3-2! UGH!

SONG AND ERRANDS COINCIDENCE, OH MY!

I went to H and M at 12 on a 401, but they HADN'T put my sweatpants on hold last night... ugh! They had to get a runner employee to find the sweatpants. Thank goodness that one of the three sweatpants had the right style number (06365 868), so I was able to get that blue one, paying by cash. The clerks were very apologetic that it wasn't really put on hold and that I had to wait more for the frozen computer.

Then I went to Shoppers Drug Mart to get a Hungry Man turkey microwaveable meal, getting home at 12:50 on a 401. IF I DIDN'T HAVE TO WAIT AT THE STORE, I COULD HAVE TAKEN THE 407 AT 12:30, GETTING HOME EARLIER! Merlin also just messaged me on Discord - he, Kramer, Poohbear, and Kitsune have just received their Christmas card and Soo salmon jerky! Excellent, even with the Canada Post strike backlog!

There was a fire alarm at about 1 PM, so I threw away fuzzy socks with holes in them, and got proper woolly socks / a thin toque / a winter coat because I thought it was going to be a false fire alarm as usual. Nope, it was actually the first REAL fire scare since I've lived here in 2000! Some idiot neighbor left a plastic baby bottle on the stove, went out at 11, and stuff started burning at 11:30 or so. WHY WOULD YOU NOT CHECK TO SEE THAT THE STOVE IS OFF BEFORE GOING OUT FOR THE DAY?!

Firemen and police and standing around outside in the cold for three hours before we were allowed back in at 3:55 after the fan and air quality... thank goodness that I am okay, as well as my stuff. I guess I should get that Square One insurance! At least it wasn't six hours, but still... the neighbor got back and saw the aftermath including a busted-out balcony, so I hope she learns!

While I was there, I mailed the Soo black pepper salmon jerky and a Christmas card to Kramer / Merlin / Poohbear / Kitsune in a bubble-wrap envelope... plus Christmas cards to Julie (moonshar), Sheryll (sheryll), Kitty (bornwitch / dutch_kitty), Deanna (endlessblush) [and a bonus birthday card], Corey (dwcorey) [and a bonus birthday card], Kelli (neonrose5), and Steph / Lisa / Fraser / Henry / Havarti. LONDON DRUGS NOW HAS A PUBLIC CUSTOMER RESTROOM AGAIN - YAY! Bonus: The woman cashier's name was LUCKY, and SHE didn't comment on all the "heavy" items! I got home at 5:25 on an early 407, which is fine, too.

Dr. Wise's eye clinic called me at 11:40 AM to say that they had a prospective date for my cataract surgery, which they recommended I take: January 10, 2019! (a Thursday) After leaving Barry a message about it AND being interrupted by Hester about insurance, I called Chrystal at noon at work to see if we could have an annual Christmas dinner (Friday, Dec. 21 after my dentist appointment with Sean), while having COFFEE TIME! Now I can plan stuff - SO GOOD!

I went out at 2 on a 414 to see Rachel at The Caring Place, then tested my Big Crazy colander against enoki mushrooms and macaroni simultaneously - EVERYTHING WORKS WITHOUT LOSING FOOD TO THE HOLES! YAY! The Canucks played Los Angeles at 7 tonight; the game went to overtime, and the Kings won 2-1.

At 11:10, I called Chrystal at work to see if we could set up a hangout time. Next Friday (the 6th) at 7:30 works for me! Then I went to Richmond Centre at 1 on a 407 to Kam Do Bakery for a slice of black forest cake, since it's National Black Forest Cake Day today. My next stop was Big Orange so I could get some mango bubble tea. Then I went to Payless Shoes so I could get NEW SNEAKERS because my current ones ALWAYS come untied, and it's very annoying! I also went to the dollar store, where I found FINDING NEMO and PEPPA PIG stickers: perfect for Fraser! Also bought a Canada shotglass, a Canucks decal, and a Canadian beaver magnet for souvenir purposes when Jimmy comes to Vancouver sometime. After getting off a 407 at 2:05, I went to the pharmacy next door to get my prescription. I was the youngest customer in there by at least 30 to 35 years!

During COFFEE TIME this afternoon, I went to the pharmacy next door (propping the side door open with my mop bucket since I didn't want to go around to the front door in the rainy weather) to pick up my newest birth control prescription, Minestrin! It came in two thin wallet-like pouches, which definitely is slightly less waste than three small boxes. Jon wanted to know if I was available to help out with the kids on Mondays again if he was teaching again then - sure, why not? I went shopping at 1:10 on a 407, going to Price Smart to get some frozen Sara Lee strawberry cheesecake as my birthday cake / treat to myself, on-sale Zest Ocean Breeze body wash (I'm re-banning Lever 2000 body wash from my apartment), and a little bottle of mango Ramune on Lena's recommendation. Then I went to London Drugs to get 800 index cards (especially since the sale expired TODAY!), black Secret thin socks, and a purple Life Candy shower puff. I got home at 2:40 on another 407, which wasn't too bad!
