Today is Retirement Day! After texting and calling a semi-sick Chinese Eric about his birthday plans while having COFFEE TIME and SHOWER TIME, I went out at 1 on a 407 to see Rishu at Touchstone. They're moving near Ikea in October?! Eric and I can meet up later; white Eric can't make it to next week's Lions game because of a guest speaker presentation at church which his small group is going to attend. I can respect that for sure! I got home at 2:55 on a 407, which is fine.

The day started early because we all went to church - a poppyseed bagel for breakfast suited me fine. No more MINECRAFT or HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON from last night, that's for sure! It was cold and foggy this morning, but least it wasn't snowy or rainy! I snuck into the church sanctuary and sat in the very last row when we got to VCEFC via the underground parking lot. Auntie Catherine saw me on my way in because she was one of the ushers, so had to hug me hello. I talked to Pastor Dan, Sharon, Emily L., Ivan W., Billy, Stella, Elenor's sister Janet, Helen C., Benedict, and others about my eye cataract surgery recovery progress while I grabbed a spare mug from the kitchen for some coffee.

Later, we went to Swiss Chalet for Elysse's fifth birthday: reading, making mistakes, being angry, chocolate milk, quarter of a rotisserie chicken and garlic shrimp / popcorn shrimp, water, embarrassing (blowjob) positions, Dylan's church meetings, Swiss Chalet coupons, chicken tenders, fries, yummy dipping sauce, what nephews were, Costco / IKEA / Toys R Us at Lansdowne, and dropping Dylan off at church. After about half an hour at home, everyone went to a crowded Costco / IKEA / Toys R Us. No, the shopping carts weren't jungle gyms, Declan! Dylan's parents returned some stuff and we talked about safety, surgery, Deb's patients, astigmatism, DanActive yogurt, fruit, budgeting, calling people by their real names, whining, and Elysse's new HATCHIMAL for $70 at Lansdowne.

The Canucks played the Panthers at 4 today, and won 5-1. Dylan's dad made lamb steak, gai lan, and ribs for Elysse's birthday dinner, and we had chocolate cupcakes with raspberry frosting and HELLO KITTY decorations as dessert. When I thanked him for it, Declan asked why I called his grandpa "Uncle." Well, he looks like he's the same age as my dad's friends and definitely NOT my peer, so there you go! Apparently, Dylan's mom found the icing too sweet, so she gave hers to me instead. Elysse wanted to lie down on her stool to eat the long spaghetti noodles, but that's NOT A GOOD IDEA! Dylan got home in time for his parents to make the drive back to Langley, but I was upstairs on mobile trying to be as unobtrusive as possible.

After COFFEE TIME, Mom and Dad picked me up at 12 so we could go to lunch at #9, go to JYSK in Lansdowne, and then go see Uncle Stanley's female associate Sandy on Kingsway and Slocan about my Disability Savings Plan. I heard way more about growth and investments and stock portfolios than I ever thought possible. After they dropped me off at Oakridge Station, I went to the bathroom (where someone said "hey!" when I used the accessible washroom - TOO BAD BECAUSE I NEEDED TO PEE AND CAN USE THAT ONE!) and then bought on-sale Polar Ice Excel gum x3 from Safeway since I forgot about it yesterday. I got home at 4 on a 401, where I saw John Jugovic, who hasn't seemed to change his opinions since 2002 or so. Ah well...


Random stuff from Mom and Dad: a six-pack of 710mL Coca-Cola which expired on July 1, 2017 (no, thanks!) / a 297g package of Fun Size 3 Musketeers which expires in June 2019 / "large" black, blue, and white pants (maybe if you're a literal child...) / a #9 Restaurant lunch of organ noodles and congee (plus some beef chow mein leftovers) / a thin green T and T Supermarket 大統華超級市場 reusable bag / a skeleton and candy corn Ugly Halloween Sweater ("Get Freaky!") and Nordik boots from JYSK Bed Bath Home in Lansdowne Centre, a random wooden pencil, and a random IKEA Richmond map with random notes on the back.

After DOUBLE COFFEE TIME, I left at 11:15 to meet Mom and Dad for lunch at 11:30 at Dinesty Dumpling House on a 401. They were so damn late that I had to call them from the fucking restaurant to confirm that lunch was on! Then they tried subtly blaming it on me - no, I did not ask for the stuff they passed on to me! No, I did not need to be told what the vinegar and ginger was for - I know SLB routine! Plus, I definitely did not have control over where the waitress seated me! Talked about Uncle William, Hiero "punching" the baby because he was jealous, Ayler being protective of the baby and wanting to sandwich him with cushions (cute but dangerous!), hot and sour soup, my leftovers of rice / egg / bok choy / Chinese sausage, Mom buying herbs, and Dad helping to bring the heavy / bulky microwave and toaster oven inside with the newspaper route cart from the old days. I finally got home at 12:45, and was able to relax thereafter!


Random stuff from Mom and Dad: A Danby Designers microwave which is cleaner than my current one of about the same age, a Sunbeam toaster oven, a comforter, and $5 cash.
