Of all the people, Uncle Joe added me to Facebook - HAHAHA! The Canucks played the Flames at 7 tonight, and lost 3-1.

glowing_dragon: (Happy Birthday!)
After COFFEE TIME, Eric picked me up for church in the morning. We talked about DARK SOULS, my eye surgery and insurance, how it was somewhat his fault for the sewer updates and construction zone around my place because his company was involved, drivers and turn signals, Elysse thinking my dad was dead because I now have his old phone, and sleeping in last week. We sat together in church service, I returned Deb's Ziploc tub to her / returned Mom's jars to her, and said hi to Frances M. / Sophie / Auntie Cathy / Ayler / Hiero / Andrew L.

I got a lunch and ride offer from Deb if I was fine with going to Canadian Tire beforehand (sure, why not?), and had to chat briefly with Uncle Reuben as he saw me. He asked about Dad and - speak of the devil (which I DID say out loud in church, hahaha) - Dad did pass by in purple choir robes a minute later! Ivan did joke that I should make it three weeks in a row for church attendance next week, but I think I'm good to go for now. Dylan, Deb, Declan, Elysse, and I bumped into Mom in the church elevator, where she thanked them for "looking after" me. *rolleyes* Like I can't do that myself?! Sheesh!

After looking at ALL the games / windshield wiper fluid / shovels / lawn mowers at Canadian Tire (and saying hi to Joe T. who was also there), it was time for a Pho lunch at Basil Garden (where I attempted to pay for my own meal - we talked about Farrah Fawcett / SMALL SACRIFICES and Diane Downs / SALVATION / Extreme's MORE THAN WORDS / whining / iPad time / tendon / brisket / steak / tripe / Pho noodles / rice) and Hiero's glow-in-the-dark bowling party at Grandview Lanes! While I was at the bowling alley, I successfully signed up for Shaw Open wi-fi because I'd written down my stuff at home when I could more easily access it via desktop. I also met a kid named Louie's mom (Hiero's classmate), saw kids named SPARKLE and KALAN in another group, and tried to stay out of the way, but it was pretty cramped.

Ayler asked me whether my body was cold because of the Dairy Queen ice cream cake (not yet), and added that the cake was the yummiest cake that he's ever had - NICE! Said hi to baby Beckett when he was awake, admired the glow-in-the-dark effect, watched Elysse when she looked at the frosted window, and told Hiero that I could read to him the next time I came over because my eye surgery was done for now. He seemed to like that idea, as well as the hot dogs and Lays chips and veggie platter. I got a sane ride home with Deb and Dylan, thank goodness. We talked about tonight's lunar eclipse, Jawbreaker candy, and I SPY before they dropped me off at 4:50. The Canucks played Detroit at 1 today, and won 3-2.

Random stuff from Mom and Dad: Liberté Canada strawberry Greek yogurt x4 which expires on January 22 (so I'll eat it all tomorrow night after it's chilled in the fridge), Excel Hotel Tokyu coffee powder x1, random Chinese green tea x8, Daiwa Royal Hotels green tea x1, Nikko Hotels International Roasted Japanese Tea x2, Nikko Hotels International green tea x2, random Chinese tea x4, Kantafe Creamy Powder x1, Kantafe sugar packet x2, Kantafe Instant Coffee x1, random Chinese roasted tea x1, Ronnefeldt 隆納菲 Lemon Sky flavored fruit infusion tea, Sencha green tea x1, and random Chinese coffee powder x1.

I went out at 9:30 on a 401 to meet Mom and Dad at Main and 15th at TXL Insurance, Uncle William Ng's company. (10:30 AM?!) After we had lunch at Kwong Chow and finally took care of the insurance, I did some shopping at the Broadway London Drugs. Bought 400 Mead index cards, store brand all-purpose cleaner, a three-inch Avery binder for my important documents (a definite upgrade!), a red $2 MARTEX washcloth, a GUM toothbrush, and two dark blue $2 GOODY toothbrush covers. Got home at 1:40 to a Purolator notice (ugh), a phone call from Dr. Wise's office, and some other mail, so I had to deal with all of that.

I got a BUDDY THE ELF Christmas card / Tazo Tea x3 (passion herbal tea, vanilla caramel chai, and green ginger tea) / magnetic Fool Moon treasures crow bookmark from Angie H. (auralily) and a Ringo the dog Christmas card from Kitty (bornwitch / dutch_kitty) in the mail. Then after calling Dr. Wise's office back, I GOT MY SURGERY TIME! 11:45 at Mount St. Joseph's isn't TERRIBLE! After letting Barry know about the surgery date and then fielding an inconvenient phone call from Mom (I was going to go out before it got dark!), I trekked near YVR on Jericho Road to get to the Purolator via YVR Airport Canada Line, placing myself nearer the airport than I'd intended today, as I told Corey when I got back. After I had COFFEE TIME, Barry picked me up at 11:50 and we went banking and to Price Smart. I got on-sale Western Family hot chili con carne, on-sale Silk (dark chocolate) almond milk x2, NEW on-sale Gold Peak Tea x5 (Lemon / Peach / Unsweetened Iced Tea / Green Tea / Raspberry), NEW on-sale 壽桃 Sau Tao Abalone rice vermicelli (which thankfully works in the microwave!), and on-sale Sau Tao Mustard Green Duck rice vermicelli. Also purchased an on-sale 16-pack of Bovril beef bouillon sachets, on-sale Uncle Ben's Canada Rice x3 (Butter and Garlic / Mushroom / Vegetable Medley), Vedan Vietnam noodles x3 (Bah Kut Tea / Mushroom and Artificial Cuttlefish / Spicy Mushroom), on-sale Olympic Dairy yogurt x2 with great expiry dates into mid-November (Peach / Raspberry), on-sale Knorr Sidekicks x5 (Garlic Butter with Lemon / Tomato Alfredo / Creamy Bacon and Carbonara / Chicken / Sour Cream and Chives), an on-sale bag of Munchies snack mix, and on-sale Campbell's Chunky Soup Chicken Sausage and Gumbo.

Then I got NEW Puritan Corned Beef Hash, JOY dumplings x4 (Pork and Tri-Treasure / Lamb and Onion / Pork and Vegetable / Pork and Chive), on-sale Western Family limited-edition Honeycrisp Apple Cider (no law against just taking it from a wheeled moving cart for store use), on-sale store brand orange juice x2, NEW yellow-orange sago pudding (October 28), spicy pig ears (October 28), a can of Fat Choy Brand golden enoki mushrooms (for a colander test later), on-sale SunRype juice x4 (pineapple / mango / raspberry-orange / blackberry-pomegranate), and an on-sale CHRISTMAS backup of a Stouffer's Sauté Sensations meal in Homestyle Pot Roast flavor! After that, I paid my Shaw and hydro bills online at home. The Canucks played Arizona at 7 tonight, and lost 4-1. TOO MANY TURNOVERS AND SHORT-HANDED OR EMPTY-NET GOALS!

Andre Stelter added me to Facebook - hey, he is a Canucks fan, so why not? I finally got back home at 3:35 on a 407 (going out at 2:10 on a 401) after buying two blue replacement $20 Snapware 35.2L storage containers for my "useless" Sterilite Corp / Sterilite Corporation latched 26L containers x2 / a "useless" Rubbermaid latched 28.4 L container from the nearby London Drugs. One of the lids is dirty, so I disinfected it when I got home. Yay for stepladders and helpful employees when I could find them at the store!

Then I decided to go out AGAIN at 4:45 on a 401 to the Ironwood London Drugs, even with reduced Sunday bus schedules. I went to Shoppers at Richmond Centre first to buy Uncle Ben's Rice x2 (Long Grain and Wild Fine Herbs / Wholegrain and Wild Garden Herb) for November appointment planning. However, I also had to go back across the street to Shoppers Drug Mart from Brighouse Station because the employee there had failed to give my Shoppers Optimum card back to me after I paid for my rice, which did NOT help!

When I finally got the next 408 Ironwood at 5:30, I discovered that a Z-Grip pen had somehow FALLEN APART in my small reusable bag - WTF? Another one was unretracted, so I had to get rid of all that detritus on the bus. At least I finally got my third and final two blue replacement $20 Snapware 35.2L storage container at London Drugs, plus a Purell hand sanitizer because I didn't have one in my small reusable bag for some reason. The expiry date is in March 2021, so it's fine to just chill in there for two and a half years! I FINALLY got home at 6:50 on a 401 when it was getting dark, since I had no patience to wait for the 407.

After I had COFFEE TIME, Barry picked me up at 11:50 and we went banking and to Price Smart. I got half-price JOY dumplings x8 (Pork and Tri-Treasure, Lamb and Onion, Pork and Vegetable, Pork and Chive - saving $1 per bag over Big Crazy), Cheetos Bag of Bones white cheddar Halloween snacks, on-sale Dial Canada Coconut Milk body wash, on-sale Knorr Sidekicks (Tomato Alfredo / Three Cheese / Creamy Bacon Carbonara), an on-sale Stouffer's Sauté Sensations Chicken Alfredo meal for the iron later, Kung Tak Lam Shanghai Vegetarian Cuisine vegetarian mushroom noodles, Lipton Cup-A-Soup x3 (Cream of Chicken / Chicken Noodle Soup / Chicken Noodle Supreme), Lipton Tomato Vegetable soup (Wesley reminded me of this!), Vedan Vietnam Bah Kut tea noodles, half-price Hong Kong 富臨食品國際有限公司 Fulum mini mooncake x4 (Mini Red Jujube White Lotus Seed Paste / Mini Osmanthus Oolong Tea and Lotus Seed Paste / Mini Kumquat and Lotus Seed Paste / Mini Cranberry White Lotus Seed Paste), Silk Canada dark chocolate milk, on-sale Authentica World Cuisine Puttanesca pasta sauce x2, and a Hungry-Man microwaveable turkey meal as a Canadian Thanksgiving backup.

I also bought the on-sale scary Halloween candy x4 (Scaries - Smarties / Coffin Crisp - Coffee Crisp / ghostly Kit-Kat / ScAero - Aero Bubbly Chocolate), on-sale Uncle Ben's Canada rice (NEW Butter and Garlic rice / Mushroom long grain and wild rice / soy and ginger Jasmine rice), on-sale Campbell's Chunky Soup (NEW Jerk Chicken and Vegetables x2 / BBQ Chipotle Sirloin Burger / Chicken Sausage Gumbo / NEW Butter Chicken and Vegetables), Earth's Own almond milk, Western Family limited-edition Honeycrisp apple cider, small store brand on-sale key lime Greek yogurt x4, NEW Olympic Dairy Greek Yogurt x3 (Black Cherry / Blueberry / limited-edition Pear Chai), Sapporo Ichiban Noodle Ramen Shio Ramen noodles, Then I got two pink promotional Mid-Autumn Festival gift certificates - save $10 on a $25 or more grocery purchase from September 28 to October 18? Why not? I'll just have to remember to go there on October 1 and some other date during the month. :D

After I got Barry to swap my microwaves for me (1000 watts is better than 700 watts!), I fielded phone calls from Dr. Wise's office (DUH - of course I know about the ultrasound appointment since I booked it myself yesterday), and then paid my Shaw bill online at home. Then I left at 5:30 to grab the mooncake flavor names from Price Smart, just managing to get the 401, which waited as I ran across the street on my green light! After that, I went to London Drugs to get NEW on-sale Lindt Excellence Dark Chocolate x3 (Crunchy Cacao / Pink Peppercorn / Hazelnut), Goody toothbrush covers x7, and a smaller 300-page red Hilroy notebook for my smaller reusable bag. Got back at 6:20, just managing to get the 407 - PHEW! GOOD TIMING AND BUS EFFICIENCY! At least I can get a ride tomorrow to St. Paul's from Mom and Dad...

Barry A. Cook and Kyriakos Gouridaris tried adding me to Facebook - DENIED! Steph called me unexpectedly the other day (the 13th) to vent about Mom and her overly-complicated planning, especially trying to let JON pick the location for MY birthday AGAIN. His kids are not an excuse for everything! Planning with Lisa's side of the family is "we're inviting ourselves over for dinner... boom, done!" She definitely doesn't miss that OR Mom, but does miss me and seeing the boys. Apparently, Mom was trying to get her to come over for my birthday, but if she wouldn't fly over for Beckett's baby banquet last week... at least Lisa, Fraser, and Henry are doing well. I don't care if she can't make it for my birthday, especially if it's just her solo and everyone else isn't part of Mom's "whole family" image! That's offensive!

Then I called Auntie Catherine last night (the 14th), trying to change our Monday plans to Saturday plans like it originally was. Nope, she has car issues and the doctor's appointment is better for her. Well, I felt bad trying to do that, which is something rare for me. Oh well, at least I briefly talked to Chung on the phone, and Auntie Catherine can just meet me in front of Pepper Lunch!

From Hockey Memes: Brace yourselves... the NHL preseason is coming!

glowing_dragon: (Cherry Cheesecake or Pie)
I went out at 11 to get some cream puffs from Beard Papas, but they only opened at 12! Instead, I walked to a busy Pricemart where I managed to find an on-sale Gizella Pastry assorted cheesecake ($9.99 for New York / mango / strawberry / blueberry cheesecake slices!) which expires on the 20th. All the other cakes and desserts expired from the 15th to the 17th, so not good for my birthday plans. While I was in the line for the self-checkout (because the other lines were really long), I saw on-sale NEW limited-edition Strawberry Shortcake Oreos, so of course I had to grab those! Then I got UNEXPECTED ITEM IN BAGGING AREA and PLEASE REMOVE ITEM FROM BAGGING AREA error messages - UGH!

Afterwards, I went to London Drugs and actually had to look for the Always bulk pads in packs of 38; thank goodness I found one! While going through my SWISS GEAR wallet, I found that my Strepsils there expire this month (September 2018), so went to the pharmacy next door to get Adam to show me the honey lemon and black cherry Strepsils. I got the latter, and got home at 12:10 on a 407.

After COFFEE TIME, Eric M. picked me up at 5 so we could go to Golden Spring Restaurant (near the old VCEFC church site) for Beckett's baby banquet. Unfortunately, I forgot his birthday Lindt Excellence dark chocolate bars (Madagascar / Pink Peppercorn) and birthday card on the way out the door, despite leaving a note for myself. I guess I'll have to give it to him at the Felico's dinner like he wanted. UGH! At least he can give me a ride to that one! We talked about his first hockey practice today, his first game on Wednesday, there being a good reason why Steph / Lisa / Fraser / Henry weren't here this weekend, Highway 99, Steveston, and more.

We had seafood soup, sweet and sour pork, chicken, fish, yee mein, red bean soup, jellyfish, Chinese cold cuts, seafood soup, tea, and more for dinner - I got to take leftovers home, too! Dad thought he had to remind me to say hi to Mom, Uncle Richard, Auntie Gloria, Pastor Fulton, Auntie Teresa, Auntie May, Uncle Anthony, Uncle Andre and his wife Anna, Uncle Joe, Auntie Wing Yee, Auntie Vivian (who said that she missed me and wondered where I'd been "hiding"), Uncle Eric, Auntie Brenda, and their other friends. No, I just wanted to get settled first! I did say hi to Holly, Peter, Evander, and Everett when they got there, of course.

When Auntie Catherine got there, we caught up a little later - she remembered my birthday in September as "a special time," and wanted us to get together. She said that Frances is getting baptized next week - ha ha ha, good luck with that! (from what Ellen tells me...) I'm probably not going to go for THAT service, but did personally tell Jon that I would be willing to go to Beckett's baby baptism service if VCEFC ever got around to organizing one. Auntie Catherine also would be willing to meet me in RICHMOND (!) on Saturday the 15th, and maybe invite a friend my age. Okay, then! As long as it's not about religion AGAIN...

I taught Ayler about Talk Like A Pirate Day since he was wearing a pirate T-shirt. He asked what people did for that, and how he could celebrate; he eventually figured that he could wear his shirt and say "Arr, matey!" like I suggested. Good ideas! He did ask about my skin scars, but I told him that it was my choice to make boundaries about my body, just like him. Later, he refused to ask my reasonable question about how Grade 1 was so far; then he didn't want me to see the time on Eric's watch, so he covered it up. Okay, then. I did say hi to Hiero, but Harmony was wearing Beckett all evening, probably to prevent people from taking photos.

Nathan, Jeremy, Randal, Caleb, Rebecca, Jon, Harmony, Eric, and I talked about Batman / Quentin Tarantino / Twitch streams / my new glasses and upcoming eye surgery / my Felico's celebration (Jeremy and Nathan say they'll confirm later) / Danielle travelling these days / FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL / learning to ride bikes from Ron and Veronica / CRAZY RICH ASIANS / JOY LUCK CLUB / Kendrick Lamar / some guy named Danny Miller / addiction issues / rappers / the weird Asian shows on the TV, which Harmony did NOT feel the need to ask the staff to turn off / counting the courses. We saw Alan and Tracy with their kid Noah, so waved at them on their way out of the restaurant. I wished Myles a happy early birthday while saying hi to him, Brittney, and Naomi. Then Eric had to wait a few more minutes while I said bye to everyone that I knew... oh well.

Eric dropped me off at 8:40, which is still pretty good. Time to relax now! Oh wait, Mom wants Jon to choose the location of my birthday dinner AGAIN - yeah, I'm not putting up with that this year. Let ME pick the damn restaurant, although at least the Oakridge area on a Monday afternoon is better than Commercial Drive with Sunday bus schedules! Not saying I'll never go to Commercial Drive, but NOT at the behest of another person ON MY ACTUAL BIRTHDAY! No, I'm not feeling guilty about that. She tried calling me twice, but I was NOT in the mood for yet more social interaction. That's the true introvert nature!

Random stuff from Mom and Dad: $20 cash (making up for yesterday's pizza plus a little more), an old one-litre Proctor-Silex water boiler (half the size of my current one), a pair of white socks, a pair of pink-and-white candy toe socks, and 200 sheets of Hilroy lined paper.

Chinese jellyfish with chili!

glowing_dragon: (LJ Drama)
After Barry dropped me off at Oakridge at 10:35 AM, I bought NEW Taki's Fuego Mexican snacks / NEW Taki's Xplosion Mexican snacks / NEW Taki's Angry Burger Mexican snacks / NEW Taki's Crunchy Fajitas Mexican snacks / NEW Peace Tea Peach Party iced tea / NEW Mini Rolos as a treat after my eye exam / NEW Take Home Size Maltesers at the Oakridge Safeway. I also had a NEW Korean Pulled Pork six-inch sandwich at the Subway in the food court since I was right there anyway and needed to eat. Then I returned the chocolate - TOO HOT AND IT WOULD MELT IN FIVE MINUTES!

Later at Oakridge Station, some guy practically threatened to sue me over incidental contact with my bulky reusable bag. This city, I swear. Just because you wanted to get by after maneuvering your bike into the elevator does NOT mean you get ALL THE SPACE EVER! I wasn't even in his way! That wasn't even the first person who had a problem with my reusable bag, as there was some lady on a crowded Canada Line train who said "You're excused" after I entered the train at 49th and got a seat.

When I got to Jon and Harmony's at 2:10, the door was open since it was still pretty hot, so I just got to invade the living space. The kids greeted me with "YOU BREAK IT - YOU FIX IT!" but calmed down and told me that they'd gone to Granville Island today. We heard about a Canada Line emergency - thank goodness that it didn't affect me, only Olympic Village to King Edward! (it did affect Jon coming home from teaching) The skating lesson went fine - I told Harmony that no, I didn't have to pay anything for the eye ultrasound or cataract surgery!

Hiero told me that he didn't like it when I farted - he just likes his own farts. Okay, then! We had pizza, more laksa, blueberries, and corn on the cob for dinner after I read some more Robert Munsch stories. I got to hold a content baby Beckett for a while (and show him a few books) when Jon was finishing up with his piano student Curtis, but the baby started crying almost as soon as Curtis left! (before, I told Curtis to "quick - play some music!" when Beckett started fussing at the start of the lesson) I went through the Translink route map with the kids when Harmony grew tired of it, and left at 7:30, just managing to get a 49 before getting home at 8:10 on a 401. I was NOT waiting 20 minutes in the muggy heat!

After COFFEE TIME, Barry picked me up at 8:30 AM for my 9:15 AM cataract consultation on Burrard with Dr. Wise. The eye exam was okay, but now I have to go in for an eye ultrasound on September 21! Thank goodness that and September payday are BEFORE Barry goes on holiday. I got him to drop me off at Oakridge Mall, so YAY FOR THAT!

After I had COFFEE TIME, Barry picked me up at 11:50 and we went banking and to Price Smart, where I bought Palmolive Ultra Strength dish detergent for that computer chair which now has grease on it, as per Andrew's and my phone call on Friday about Teunis moving to Saskatchewan because they can buy a house there with saved money / swapping out the computer case for a smaller one in September since it's still part of our deal. I got NEW Nissin prawn noodles x2 / NEW Nissin soya sauce and pork noodles x2 / on-sale Western Family beef noodles x2 / on-sale Western Family vegetable noodles x2, JOY dumplings x4 (Pork and Tri-Treasure, Lamb and Onion, Pork and Vegetable, Pork and Chive), Winter Creek raw oysters x2 for Raw Oyster Day (expires on Aug. 6), NEW on-sale Peace Tea iced tea x4 (Razzleberry raspberry / Lemon Love lemon tea / Caddy Shack tea and lemonade / Greenest of all Teas green tea) and on-sale Earth's Own unsweetened almond milk.

Also purchased on-sale Clorox wipes x2, on-sale Kraft Parmesan cheese, a Hungry Man turkey dinner, Arm and Hammer baking soda, Arm and Hammer toothpaste, on-sale Prego Fresh Mushrooms pasta sauce, World Authentica Cuisine pasta sauce, on-sale Western Family blueberry-pomegranate yogurt, on-sale Western Family frozen vegetables, Vedan mushroom and artificial cuttlefish instant noodles, Wei Lih spicy beef noodles, and Six Fortune broad noodles. Then my debit card got declined a couple of times because I couldn't swipe my chip card, and the magnetic stripe couldn't be read! I think I'll take Barry's advice and go to Coast Capital sometime so I can figure out this shit. After that, I paid my Shaw bill online at home. That also gave me some stress because the bill was twice as high as it should have been, and I had to make a new Shaw ID and secure password at their website! Damn technology!

glowing_dragon: (OMFG Yay!)
I called Chrystal at work at 1:10 yesterday to remind her about last night, being honest about how July 12 (next Thursday) was actually just a consultation and not an actual surgery. "SHE BAMBOOZLED ME! NO!" Hahaha! While power-walking through the building and down the stairs, I saw Mr. Creep on his way up the stairs! UGH! I just managed to get to the C94 bus stop from Brighouse library before the shuttle bus got there! Then I had to wait ten minutes for the next Canada Line train at Brighouse, but managed to see Chrystal at the Broadway London Drugs. We went to Chipotle and talked about baby Beckett (my newest nephew!), my upcoming cataract consultation on Burrard, Emily's new baby Benjamin (Chrystal's newest nephew!), my therapy, my messy steak burrito in a bowl, my walking in on someone in the public washroom because SHE forgot to lock the door, my computer upgrade, her parents sharing a smartphone, my parents being millennial phone zombies in senior citizens' bodies, smartphones, the rain then, and more.

After that, she went to No Frills to meet her dad while I went back to London Drugs to look for gum tubs. I couldn't find them on my own, so had to ask the employees for help. The Dentyne gum was on $2.99 sale this week, so I grabbed a Dentyne Ice Avalanche 60-piece tub, hoping that THIS one wouldn't be soft. (I tested it later at the Canada Line station, and it thankfully was FINE! I lost the Excel gum lottery TWICE IN A ROW!) I also got an on-sale bag of Brookside blackberry and honey chocolates as a thank-you for Eric today if his fix worked. If it didn't, the chocolate was still in my preferred form of bites instead of tablets! Haha! I got home at 9:55 in the pouring rain because I had JUST missed the 401 / 407 buses at Brighouse, forcing me to wait an additional half an hour. After writing some notes to myself, I went to bed at 11.

I got up at 6 AM, decided to get some more rest, and got up for good at 10:45. Then I noticed that Eric had called at 10:25, so I called him back. He'd been out and wanted to see if he could fix my monitor, but he guessed he could go out again. In the 15 minutes available to me, I brushed my teeth / washed my face / took my multivitamin / took my Kraft Dinner White Cheddar macaroni and cheese plus Brookside chocolates out for Macaroni Day and Chocolate Day today / took Eric's Brookside Chocolates out / tidied up my computer desk area. Eric arrived at 11 with an extra BENQ monitor that used to be his dad Ron's, and was able to plug in my current monitor while cleaning it with Windex!

He looked up Electronics Return-It centres, and found that the Blundell one should be open on Saturdays, so took out my two old hard drives and old monitor, and accepted my chocolate as a thank-you while never guessing the CREEP that I saw at the library yesterday. Eric did say that he thought it was the circuits or something from the monitor itself. After a while, I went to Brighouse library on the C94 at 3:20 in order to hopefully get the Facebook status tagging backlog done using their IP address. IT WORKED BEFORE CLOSING TIME AT 5! I was in time for the 4:45 C94 on the way back to Brighouse Station, and was finally home at 5 on a 407.

Edit at 7:30! I finally got Mom on the phone to see if they had a floor lamp while I remembered BEFORE lunch on Monday. She said "of course," and at least clarified what I meant. Yes, one that is on the living room floor, NOT one for the bedroom! (which I wouldn't even call a floor lamp, but anyway...) At least now I can be picked up at 11:30 in the courtyard instead of having to leave 45 minutes early because of bus schedules! She said stuff about a used vacuum cleaner which still works for $10 at the thrift shop, a toaster, my pre-surgery consultation (which I told her FOUR TIMES that I had rescheduled for July 26 - their moving date), Auntie Wing Yee and Uncle Joe moving in with Holly / Peter / Evander / Everett in Steveston, Jon and Harmony maybe needing help on Thursday because the lards will get their Burnaby keys then, and eye care.

After DOUBLE COFFEE TIME, I left at 11:15 to meet Mom and Dad for lunch at 11:30 at Dinesty Dumpling House on a 401. They were so damn late that I had to call them from the fucking restaurant to confirm that lunch was on! Then they tried subtly blaming it on me - no, I did not ask for the stuff they passed on to me! No, I did not need to be told what the vinegar and ginger was for - I know SLB routine! Plus, I definitely did not have control over where the waitress seated me! Talked about Uncle William, Hiero "punching" the baby because he was jealous, Ayler being protective of the baby and wanting to sandwich him with cushions (cute but dangerous!), hot and sour soup, my leftovers of rice / egg / bok choy / Chinese sausage, Mom buying herbs, and Dad helping to bring the heavy / bulky microwave and toaster oven inside with the newspaper route cart from the old days. I finally got home at 12:45, and was able to relax thereafter!

Random stuff from Mom and Dad: Random stuff from Mom and Dad: A Danby Designers microwave which is cleaner than my current one of about the same age, a Sunbeam toaster oven, a comforter, and $5 cash.

After DOUBLE COFFEE TIME, I went out to Mt. Pleasant Park at 3 (just missing a Canada Line train AND a 3 bus at Marine Drive!) with my own mat and silverware (UGH!) for Ayler's sixth birthday party. My knife did end up saving the day when it came to the homemade chocolate ganache mousse birthday cake, though! I was the only one who brought a knife, apparently. Ayler and Hiero were at the playground when I finally got to the park, so I left Harmony to watch my things along with hers so I could see what was up with them. They were flinging sand with shovels and "digging a hole to China." Later, Ayler and I were discussing our clothing choices, and he said he lived in Vancouver instead of Richmond, so he could know to wear a T-shirt instead of a long-sleeved shirt. Okay, then!

They had fun with the see-saw until it was food time. Ayler had a very specific order when it came to who should get birthday cake, but it definitely made sense that he should get the first slice! Everett and Evander were running around with them, while baby Naomi (whom I met for the first time) was just shy to me most of the time. Of course I said hi to Uncle Joe, Auntie Wing Yee, Brittney, Myles, Holly, and Peter. We had strawberries, lemonade, Clamato, huge DON'T ARGUE pizza slices, homemade chocolate cookies, and homemade chocolate ganache mousse cake. Salsa was also on offer, but what would I have had it with? Dad told me to say thanks to Harmony's parents for giving me a ride to Oakridge Station - DUH! I got home at 8:05 on a 401, and had to wash the dishes right away before I got distracted.

After I had COFFEE TIME, Barry picked me up at 12:05 and we went banking and to Price Smart. He actually got Hester's husband Ni on the phone, too! I got on-sale Silk almond milk, duck gizzard livers so I can horrify Mike later, $1 on-sale Mott's Clamato Verde x3, limited-edition Olympic grilled pineapple Greek yogurt, on-sale GOOD TASTE dumplings x5 (Beef and Vegetable, Cabbage and Chicken, Cabbage and Pork, Pork and Chive, Pork and Celery), the ONLY non-sticky jar of preserved vegetables on the shelf, Philadelphia Cream Cheese jalapeno dip, and on-sale Tostitos Scoops chips.

Also purchased on-sale steel wool, Vileda sponges, NEW on-sale Smartfood sour cream and onion popcorn, on-sale Uncle Ben's Bistro rice x3, Olympic honey yogurt, two Marie Callender microwave meals (Three-Meat Marinara / Creamy Chicken Alfredo), on-sale Cottonelle toilet paper, Natural Clean bleach, on-sale Oasis juice x4, straw mushrooms x5, mushroom soup x2, (Koka chicken / Paldo Gomtang beef) noodles, and on-sale Kozy Shack tapioca pudding. After I got home at 1:40, I paid my Shaw bill online at home. Then I went to London Drugs at 5:55 on a 407 to mail Julie's stuff to her as long as it's still payday. I also bought store brand multivitamins, 24 mousetraps (clearing out the store's inventory), on-sale Old Dutch Gourmet Pulled Pork Wrap / Sour Cream and Green Onion and Bacon chips, and two clear Sterilite storage boxes! Got home at 6:35 to eat some dinner.

GREEN TEA TIME! I noted that Chinese Eric had called me last night while I was trying to decide about Jimmy (not worth it - I also talked to Helen Y. about things), so I called him back this morning. Auntie answered the phone and we exchanged Chinese New Year greetings once I told her who I was. Then he called me on his lunch break in the afternoon at 1:10; thank goodness I caught it at 1:45! All the snow from last night has melted (yay!), and he asked whether I'd like him to use a Domino's Pizza coupon - of course! We're Asian, after all!

He ended up not coming over (which I figured by 7:35), so I stashed some stuff away for later since I don't want it in my face: I have SOME dignity, after all! It also surprised me that Teunis added me to Facebook again, since I was totally fine with his not following me online last June, and understood why without his having to explicitly say so. We'll probably just be Facebook acquaintances, which I am totally okay with. The Canucks played the Panthers at 7 tonight, and lost 4-3. YOU CAN'T GIVE UP FOUR GOALS IN THE FIRST PERIOD!

Jon said that they don't need me today, which is fine. Frees up an extra day! Went out at 12:15 on a 407 to London Drugs, where I bought one on-sale towel and four more $2 washcloths (because I hadn't started my laundry yet from the last time I bought them last week), some on-sale Ferrero Rocher chocolate for Harmony's birthday (I'm sure she'll eat them before May!), some Uncle Lee's green tea for Jimmy (who says he got my birthday card today), a black and gold cosmetics bag (had to downsize my usual wallet?!), and a bubble-wrap envelope. I had a Chinglish discussion with four older ladies at the bus stop about whether my reusable bags were "ho" (good) and how much they were. One of the aunties told me, "Aiya! Mai ho do yeh!" Hahaha, nope! It just looks like I bought a lot of stuff because I took a small reusable bag out with me, and put all my purchases into the big reusable bag that I bought at London Drugs! The oldest one told me in English that she liked the color of my red hat, so there's that! I got home at 1:10 and beat most of the rain (which is what I was hoping for), then did a load of laundry.

After COFFEE TIME, I left at 4:40 so I could meet baby Henry for the first time at Wo's Restaurant at 5:30. I had the Advent calendars for Steph and Lisa, plus the Festive Friends cookies for Fraser. As I thought, I was late, but I'd planned it that way. I said hi to everyone, and noticed Fraser's shirt: "My aunt is cooler than yours!" Baby Henry wanted to focus on the hockey game on TV, but held my finger and stuck out his tongue while making baby noises at me. While having pork, chicken, chicken corn soup, broccoli, carrots, other vegetables, tea, rice, yee mein, and more, Fraser let me check out his toy airplane and told me about the bus trip to the airport this morning and the plane ride later. He'd also danced at Grandma Sandy's birthday party last weekend, which sounds like fun! Everyone else talked about winter clothing, Jon having gout (?!), Mr. Weatherbee in the ARCHIE comics, Ayler and Hiero learning to swear from school, Christon / Eric M. / Eddie / Eunice / Auntie Catherine / Auntie Christine / Uncle Reuben / Uncle Percy being 100 / Uncle Eric / Auntie Eva / Auntie Evie / Auntie Eileen, plans for next week, Victoria, Melia, Melissa, milk, Shoppers Drug Mart (Fraser likes shopping!), and more. Fraser even gave me a hug and kiss when we were leaving! Mom and Dad dropped me off at 7:10, which is fine by me.

Random stuff from Mom and Dad: a Dignity funeral home mint, a stray Q-tip (?!), Necco Wafers, Nosh and Co. Munch Madness lightly salted chips, a lined red and grey toque, a very full green leafy photo album with a LOT of old family photos, Karre bath and shower gel, Karre body lotion, Karre conditioning shampoo, Revive Spa bath and shower gel, Revive Spa bar soap x2, Revive Spa shampoo and conditioner x2, Argan Source shampoo balm, Argan Source bar soap, Argan Source body lotion, BioEnergy gentle bath soap with seaweed extract, conditioning shampoo x5 / body lotion x4 / bar soap x5 from the Ashling Hotel in Dublin, Geneva Guild body moisturizer x2, and Geneva Guild shampoo.

glowing_dragon: (OMFG Yay!)
After COFFEE TIME, I had to go out to celebrate Dad's birthday - UGH! At least I got the Samyang 2X spicy Hot Chicken Flavor Ramen (chicken with a bomb!) noodles for Jon from Big Crazy, haha! To kill some time after leaving way early at 10:05 on a 407, I went to Shoppers and bought the cheapest baby boy card that they had ($3 is much better than $7!), plus some cream of mushroom soup since I was at the store anyway. I used the brand new self-checkout machines, and the scanning area seems to be much easier than others which I've used! Then I killed time at Book Warehouse and Trendybucks, where I had a conversation with a woman who noticed my large London Drugs reusable bag. I didn't mind that at all, actually! Jon and Harmony picked me up at the Royal Bank parking lot at 11:25-ish as advertised in Jon's 7:45 AM Facebook message. We had a dim sum lunch at Haiyi Seafood Restaurant on Main and 31st: shrimp dumplings, purple sweet potato dumplings, beef tendons, noodles, rice, egg tarts, shrimp rolls, and more! Ayler asked me if I liked "poke," which is apparently his word for blood draws. Then he said the word "vagina" because Harmony was reading a kids' book about girls' bodies to him - well, kindergarten is going to be interesting, haha.

Mom said that Steph and Lisa aren't going to be here in October because Ryan's wedding has been called off. WHAT?! Good thing that I hadn't mailed the card for baby Henry yet, so I could obscure that reference to October with a black Sharpie later on! Then we talked about getting the kids to eat something, Hiero coming over to me so he could say hi, a video of Havarti swimming, future plans, Ayler loving the lazy Susan, and other things. When Mom and Dad dropped me off at King Edward Station, I decided to go to London Drugs so I could get some more gold / silver / bronze Sharpies [Dec. 30, 2016] for my wallet (so people can feel SPECIAL!) before mailing the baby card at their post office. I got home at 2:10 on a 407, and put some tape in my wallet as well, just in case. Then I put my other gold / silver / bronze Sharpies in my new Modella cosmetics bag near the computer, along with some index cards and pens even though I have plenty in the other two nearby Sterilite boxes. Later, I read that disability payment is actually going up by $100 a month in September, so that's awesome news!

Random stuff from Mom and Dad: three Mega Rolls of Royale toilet paper, a spiral school notebook from Portland, a fridge magnet from our farewell breakfast for Steph and company, Uncle Ben's Country Inn chicken and wild rice, Chinese toothbrush / toothpaste / two hairbrushes from Hotel Wing International, a Joytel Group Hotels toothbrush, a Sweet Cat Miss Gang blue-green shirt / a grey "New York" shirt with gibberish on it from Asia. In what world does "New York floeer srtr KNTIM klyet falo vsing poarts mrlrty daing mrlrty" make sense?!

After COFFEE AND ASPIRIN TIME, I went out at 3:30 for my dentist appointment at 4 with Sean, which went fine even if a few teeth seemed a bit sensitive. They even gave me free fluoride that my insurance didn't cover, plus an Oral-B toothbrush and Crest Pro-Health Advanced toothpaste! Then I got NEW Uncle Ben's Smokey Red Beans and Rice, on-sale Tostitos chips (low-sodium Rounds / regular Rounds / Gold), on-sale Mrs. Renfro's salsa x2 (Ghost Pepper x2), Crest Complete and Colgate toothpaste in tubes x3 (including Max Fresh x2 in Minty Sparkle with Bright Strips / Electric Mint Shockwave with Micro-Cooling Beads, plus Crest Whitening Outlast with Scope!), a Colgate toothbrush, and Tostitos Salsa Con Queso dip at the Oakridge Safeway. After a brief stop at the Oakridge Apple Store, I went home and got there at 6:10 on a 407. YAY FOR CAVITY DEFENSE TECHNOLOGY! Then I talked briefly to Vanessa via Facebook messages about Jason, lying, and smoking.

After MORE COFFEE TIME, I went out at 5 (just getting the 401) to see Ayler and Hiero for a while for Ayler's fifth birthday as I'd planned with Harmony yesterday, who said it was sweet of me. I had Hiero's peace sign / ice cream / cupcake / doughnut / SESAME STREET / cats with sunglasses stickers and Ayler's emoji / stars / glow-in-the-dark MARVEL Heroes stickers, dinosaur birthday card, Slinky toy, and pre-historic dinosaur toys. Uncle Joe and Auntie Wing Yee were at the house as advertised, and asked if I was staying for an early and simple dinner of rice / broccoli / meat / water. Sure, why not? Ayler asked "why" questions a lot (like "why did Auntie make that face?" Because I had to sneeze!), and he apparently understands the concept of a square root already if you phrase it correctly! Both Harmony and I do not do math, so he'll have to figure it out some other way! Then he asked, "Why did Grandpa say DIE?" and some other things!

At least both boys seemed to love the Slinky (which is higher than them when stretched out), and took a couple of dinosaur toys to the Jacob's Well concert later on. (which I declined to attend) Hiero wanted me to lift him up from his eating chair after he was done eating a tiny mandarin orange for dinner, so I did that. He gave me a few stickers on my jeans, and Ayler talked a lot about the tunnels and ramps at Marine Drive. Hey, I know those because I went past there on the Skytrain to see everyone! At least I managed to get home at 7:20 on a 407, then talked to Lena on FB chat about special snowflakes and pronouns and edgy disrespect from a "friend"!

MONTHLY BUBBLE TEA TALLY, SEPTEMBER 2012 (1)

mango @ Copa Café (Saturday, Sept. 8) [free, thanks to Uncle Michael and Aunt Leslie!]

Before I called Chinese Eric tonight, I decided to see if I could get my YM working for Trillian. Apparently, my password was wrong, which is bullshit. I perforce reset it after Googling instructions, and it seems to be working. At least, I'm not disconnected after only half a second. This works, even though I never really use the service for anything these days. You never know what randomness may come forth, though! :P

When I called at 9:15, I got the fax machine screech right after Eric answered. He decided to call me back, which works for both our poor sets of ears! We discussed Grandma, Chinese New Year, the Mid-Autumn Festival tomorrow, the "older brother / sister ... UNCLE / AUNTIE" stages of life, mooncake, engrossing reading on the INTERESTING psychology differences between an only child and one with siblings (Nate would know more!), siblings' / classmates' personalities being different, our weeks, Portland, and the beer allowance. Conversed about YOU CAN'T DO THAT ON TELEVISION (Bart the cook was weirdly creepy, he says!) / green slime ingredients, YTV, SAVED BY THE BELL, SQUARE ONE, Halloween / Trick-or-Treating / things like Kids Night being safer (the Awana crew makes it fun for the kids!), the Copa Café, Scientology, Tom Cruise and finding a new wife, Thanksgiving dinner, weird news, the BC Lions not quite coming back from a 19-1 deficit against the Saskatchewan Roughriders (final score - while talking to me to kill time - was 27-20), dating not being easy, Dylan, BS being a "small group," the evolution of cellphones, and more.

He told me to tell white Eric "thank you for making me look up the word which I was supposed to use last time!" Apparently - and I never noticed this - he was going to say "bashful," but added "-ful" to the end of "brash," thinking it would be okay. I'm sure he's learned his lesson, but I know that adjectives and similar words can confuse him, so it's all good! Of course, I will pass on the message! I complained about everything changing their online interface lately (blogging sites like Blogger!), and he says that he has to guide his mom through Hotmail changes every six months or so! I'm not surprised that it happens, especially since MY mom complains that the Facebook "share" button is gone from her iPhone... I'm more inclined to believe Steph, who says it isn't. We know Mom might be losing it, after all. Eric and I ended this conversation at about 10:40, saying that it was nice to talk to the other - SEE? This is what I needed!
