I showered today after going to the pharmacy next door at 2 to refill my birth control prescription and buy $2 hand sanitzer x5. Good thing, too - there's going to be ANOTHER WATER SHUTOFF tomorrow from 8 AM to 5 PM! UGH!

There was an unexpected water shutoff today! Of course Amacon posted a notice at the front door to let people know... come on! Not everyone leaves their apartment once a day! UGH! I briefly called Chrystal at work at 4 to wish her a happy belated birthday since she'd been off last week. She thanked me and said she appreciated it. The water was FINALLY back on at 5:45, NOT 1 PM as stated in the notice! Geez.

Jimmy blocked me again, but he's an idiot who can't take being told that he is wrong about everything. Despite what he thinks, I did make an effort on his birthday. I just was not available all day, and I definitely did wish him a happy birthday. Of COURSE I went to bed after doing stuff online when I got home after dinner that evening - DUH!

As for Friday, I was going to try drawing him into a conversation after going out with everyone, but I knew I was slightly out of it. (not as much as poor Term, though!) One-word answers definitely made me think that he was upset. For once, I believe it didn't matter. I told him everything that was on my mind, then was called "the most vain person" before he blocked me. He also deflected my question about blocking people on to ME! Nope, you're the one who's an ass at the very least. He's also a sub, and he doesn't GET to have boundaries! HA! Mike thinks we take the meaning out of blocking if we do it to each other all the time, as it's going to be an empty gesture eventually. At least OUR communication seems to be pretty good! I also talked to Helen Y. about it, which helped!

From Grammarly: How To Write Good, by Frank L. Visco!

Caveat emptor. Carpe diem. O si villi, si ergo, fortibus is in ero. Et tu, brute.

My several years in the word game have learnt me several rules:

1. Avoid alliteration. Always.
2. Prepositions are not words to end sentences with.
3. Avoid clichés like the plague. (They're old hat.)
4. Employ the vernacular.
5. Eschew ampersands & abbreviations, etc.
6. Parenthetical remarks (however relevant) are unnecessary.
7. It is wrong to ever split an infinitive.
8. Contractions aren't necessary.
9. Foreign words and phrases are not apropos.
10. One should never generalize.
11. Eliminate quotations. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said: "I hate quotations. Tell me what you know."
12. Comparisons are as bad as clichés.
13. Don't be redundant; don't use more words than necessary; it's highly superfluous.
14. Profanity sucks.
15. Be more or less specific.
16. Understatement is always best.
17. Exaggeration is a billion times worse than understatement.
18. One-word sentences? Eliminate.
19. Analogies in writing are like feathers on a snake.
20. The passive voice is to be avoided.
21. Go around the barn at high noon to avoid colloquialisms.
22. Even if a mixed metaphor sings, it should be derailed.
23. Who needs rhetorical questions?

SHOPPING RUNDOWN!

H and M: DRAGON HOODIE on clearance ($15 off) from $39.99 to $24.99! :D

London Drugs near my house: Red MARTEX bath towel, medium blue MARTEX bath towel, NEW on-sale Strawberries and Cream Lindt chocolate truffles, NEW limited-edition on-sale Blueberries and Cream Lindt truffles, NEW on-sale Milk and White Spring Edition Lindt truffles, on-sale Colgate Optic White toothpaste, and Colgate KnockOut MaxFresh toothpaste in Mint Fusion.

Shoppers Drug Mart: On-sale Philadelphia chip dip (dill pickle!), and on-sale President's Choice bite-size round tortilla chips! Gotta have it for Chips and Dip Day today and tomorrow!

Before COFFEE TIME, I called Chrystal to see what time we should meet tonight; 7:30 sounds good to me! I went out early at 5:30 to see if I could get that dragon hoodie at H and M after figuring out all the sidewalk and bus stop closures. They were all in a Medium size, but I figured that I'd make it work somehow. I didn't even care that I couldn't exchange it or get a refund since it was on clearance! $15 off - from $39.99 to $24.99! Then I went to the nearby London Drugs, then to the Broadway / Cambie London Drugs. Figured I'd spend my $75 tax refund while I was out and could do stuff, and I did! Now I have to wait for the April credit to go through, ha ha ha...

As I was reading an ARCHIE book, Chrystal came up to me - she was on time today! I told her that I had a birthday card for her, and not to worry about the rest of the stuff in my bulky reusable bag - that was all for me! We went to Pho Extreme Xe Lua to catch up: her parents going to Dubai pretty soon, Ethan and Mike being sick with the flu, my new Reddit friends, the whole Woob and Twitter screenshots saga, Benjamin being about the same age as Beckett, Beckett screaming as loud as the 80s music inside Como Taperia, and her knowing that I liked spicy stuff. After dinner, I went home instead of joining Brian, Paulo, and others at the American. I did stop by Shoppers Drug Mart when I got to Brighouse so I could get the aforementioned chips and dip. Got home at 9:10 on a 401, no thanks to MORE complicated sidewalk closures! They did make a temporary crosswalk near the intersection at my place, though.

From Sara H. and Tumblr: Things that English speakers know about English word order, but don't know we know! I definitely sent this to Corey on Discord as soon as I saw it posted on my wall on Facebook!

BurntCopper posts a photo. "Adjectives in English absolutely have to be in this order: Opinion-size-age-shape-color-origin-material-purpose Noun. So you can have a lovely little old rectangular green French silver whittling knife. But if you mess with that word order in the slightest, you'll sound like a maniac. It's an odd thing that every English speaker uses that list, but almost none of us could write it out. And as size comes before color, green great dragons can't exist."

WindyCityTeacher: "Whoa! What?!"

Ice-Light-Red: "That is profound. I noticed this by accident when asked about adjectives by a Japanese student. She translated something from Japanese like BROWN BIG CAT, and I corrected her. When she asked me why, I bluescreened."

I called Barry at 8:50 to let him know about the dead mouse. When he called me back at 11 to say that he would be here in a couple of minutes, I checked the corner with the TV since I'd heard noise there as well last night. Yup, there was another dead mouse, this one in a glue trap. Good thing I checked, since Barry was here at 11:10 to remove them!

I had to leave the house today from 8 to 4 because of the forced water shutoff and the sewer upgrades, and I hope this is the only one till all the construction is projected to end in December! This is NOT helping my budget OR my financial situation! I bought spicy beef noodle Tom Yum soup and Brisk iced tea from Thai Express, EMOJI STICKERS for Fraser at IndigoSpirit, chocolate vitamin bread from Maxim's Bakery (a way better $2.75 value than an overpriced ham and cheese sandwich), plus HATCHIMAL / MINECRAFT / PAW PATROL stickers and a kiddy Valentine's Day card from the dollar store.

Before I bothered going home, I called Hester to see if the water was back on. She said "yes" and hung up! What if I couldn't hear her or had another question?! GEEZ! I got home at 4:40 on a 401.

I had COFFEE TIME after a useless morning trip to London Drugs for a specific set of Sharpies, but I did see Roberta while wasting my time. I was out of my place at 5:20 when Deb called to see if it was a good time to pick me up on the way to grab the kids from wherever they were after school. Sure, why not? We went to Hugh Boyd where Declan was; Dylan had picked Elysse up earlier since he'd felt sick at work at 2 or so. Declan demonstrated some good reading skills when we waited for Deb at Seafair Complex before getting some gas for the car. Yeah, the sushi and tempura is a good place to start. He told me that he would let his wife choose the names for their future kids - solid choice, my friend! I'm sure he'd like to try Subway sometime, too. As soon as we got home, the kids started talking about negotiating iPad time and toy time - nice!

We had very slightly spicy chicken wings, rice, bass fish, and bok choy for dinner after watching SAMURAI RANGERS and MINECRAFT. Declan wanted to show me his musical SAMURAI RANGERS sword, which is fine. Elysse insisted on watching GLITTER FORCE with GLITTER FORCE MAKEOVER on the iPad during dinner. When she asked me about my cellphone, I said that I'd received it from my dad. Her answer: "DID HE DIE?!" HAHAHAHA, how amusingly morbid!

If I can type with 98% spelling and grammar accuracy on my phone like I am doing "right now," so can everyone else who doesn't have legitimate difficulties with the English language. There, I said it... BOOM!

From my ex-friend Jimmy: Laundry today or NAKED tomorrow!

From Julie: Friendship is like pissing your pants. Everyone can see it, but only you can feel its warmth. Thank you for being the piss in my pants!

When I got to Deb and Dylan's last night, I got settled in as Declan told me a lot of stuff about MOTHER GOOSE PRESCHOOL MINECRAFT / Eep the Mouse / spawns and mobs and Creepers. Elysse was watching FROZEN downstairs, so she told me about Anna and Elsa and Olaf. Typical kid talk, but I don't mind knowing about their stuff and interests! They were able to stay up till 10 PM just entertaining themselves for the most part, so that was good for them. Elysse described Hiero as her best friend, which is cute. Declan also knows Ayler, of course. At least the kids seemed to like me, so YAY!

Today started out with HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, iPads, a poppyseed bagel for breakfast, then after a while, Dylan kindly agreed to take me by my place while he and Elysse were out anyway so I could get some more pants. We also went to a random house to get an AirSoft table for Hiero's birthday party next week. Elysse was pretty patient, all things considered. I opted for the Walmart elevators every time, even if I had to meet Dylan and Elysse upstairs since the kid wanted the escalators. She and I looked at a lot of toys, even if she wanted to pull me to the escalators after she was done people-watching. Too bad that I'm still stronger than a little girl on the eve of her fifth birthday! I didn't pull her arm, though. We discussed how it was fine and okay to make mistakes, a bunch of toys, HATCHIMAL toys, and dolls.

We got home in time for more MINECRAFT, but it was naptime for me! I got up in time for Dylan's parents to show up and then leave a little later for the family dinner they had tonight. Deb kindly made me soup with veggies and noodles, plus some other noodle leftovers and gyoza... Dylan cut up some meat for me as well before they left. I had peace and quiet to do some naughty things before they got back at 9:30. (I also watched some YOU and EAT A CUP OF TEA on Netflix) Dylan's parents are staying overnight from Langley, which is good. Lots of styrofoam from Elysse's new ballerina doll, that's for sure!

I went out at 2:05 on a 414 to meet Rachel at the Caring Place, getting home at 3:50 on a 407. Dr. Wise's office (Megan) called me at 4:15 to try scheduling a last-minute appointment for tomorrow at noon to REPEAT an eye test that I thought the Willow UBC Eye Care Clinic already did back on November 15! Dr. Wise then said that she wanted to make sure I got the best lens possible, and she needed the info before going into the OR, so couldn't do it while I was asleep during the operation. Okay, I guess... Megan did say it was a hassle, which is right, because I said it was an inconvenience, then felt bad about it. I'd been planning to relax, but whatever! I have to be positive and believe that people will help me if I'm lost - which is bound to happen downtown!

Deb called me at 1:25 to see about my post-surgery care. Yes, I'm welcome to stay there for about a week for company purposes. The medicine dosage instructions do seem complicated, that's for sure! At 2:30, I called the pharmacy next door to see if my prescription was ready - the Lotemax Gel / Prolensa / Moxifloxacin eyedrops were definitely there, so I went there at 4 to pick them up. Only two of them were covered (Ocuflox and Ratio-Prednisolone), but that was what Dr. Wise sent Adam, so I guess it should be okay if a doctor upstairs only gives those two. He said to pull the eyelid down to create a sort of pouch and then drop the medicine in, and to wait a few minutes between each dose.

I went to H and M at 12 on a 401, but they HADN'T put my sweatpants on hold last night... ugh! They had to get a runner employee to find the sweatpants. Thank goodness that one of the three sweatpants had the right style number (06365 868), so I was able to get that blue one, paying by cash. The clerks were very apologetic that it wasn't really put on hold and that I had to wait more for the frozen computer.

Then I went to Shoppers Drug Mart to get a Hungry Man turkey microwaveable meal, getting home at 12:50 on a 401. IF I DIDN'T HAVE TO WAIT AT THE STORE, I COULD HAVE TAKEN THE 407 AT 12:30, GETTING HOME EARLIER! Merlin also just messaged me on Discord - he, Kramer, Poohbear, and Kitsune have just received their Christmas card and Soo salmon jerky! Excellent, even with the Canada Post strike backlog!

After DOUBLE COFFEE TIME, I left at 2:45 on a 401 for Jeremy's. I had the on-sale Brookside Chocolate bars x2 (Roasted Almond and Sea Salt / Cranberry Almond with Blood Orange Flavor) and the four NHL 100 Advent calendars / Waterbridge Belgian chocolate seashells for Jon, plus the Terry's Chocolate Orange / NHL 100 Advent calendar / Waterbridge Belgian chocolate seashells for Eric Ho. Maybe HE could drive me home, haha! It turned out he couldn't since he'd driven downtown because he wouldn't be able to get much parking! I killed 45 minutes at Kingsgate Mall, but got to Jeremy's at 4. Ayler picked up, but wouldn't buzz me into the building for some reason. I tried four times after that, and LUCKILY, Jeremy's neighbors were exiting the building and let me in! (possibly because they saw I was actively trying to be buzzed in) Later, we found out that the kids had left the phone off the hook for half an hour! UGH!

I settled in by Harmony, saying hi to her and baby Beckett, who held my finger and burbled at me. Ayler and Hiero wanted to do THUMB WAR and STELLA STELLA OLA, but I was fine with watching them (and the Rubik's Cube) instead. I read a MR. MEN book to them, plus a book on frogs and one on animal tracks and Curious George. When everyone got there, I managed to get a ride to Broadway Station from Kevin later on. Talked to Randal, SERVANTS friends (Rudy?), Christon, Dilys, Alice, Jesse, Trish, Caleb, Becky, and others about Crown Royal Black whiskey, condos, townhouses, toilets, sanitation, history, vacation, the Christmas holidays, beer, the food, white Eric, Chinese Eric, Condoleeza Rice and the Cleveland Browns, women and guns, chimeras / DNA / transgender people, Uncle Stanley's colon cancer (but he is positive about it), and more. Kevin drove me near Broadway Station at 8:50 in the freezing weather, and I got home at 9:50 on a 407. Phew!

After COFFEE TIME, Barry picked me up at 10:15 so we could finally go to Dr. Wise's office downtown for my eyeball ultrasound follow-up: MORE PAPERWORK AND APPOINTMENTS! We discussed my nephews, therapy, serial killers using white vans, Ted Bundy, the Green River Killer, Paul Bernardo, BTK, and more. When I got home at 12:25 (after Barry went into "robot mode" and blamed jet lag from Japan), I chilled for a bit. I'll have to go to Dr. Wise's office again for another follow-up appointment on November 29 because of my dense cataract needing to be measured by the UBC Eye Care Clinic on Willow Street. AIYA!

Then I called Barry about my successful Nov. 15 appointment rescheduling with the UBC Eye Care Centre when I called them about it at 1:40. It'll be at 9:15 AM on November 15 [which means he has to pick me up at 8:30 AM because of rush hour] instead of 3:30 PM on the same day. That works better with his scheduling because the Pathways office closes at 4. At least I had a lot of time to write out my plans on index cards and my Wordpress Drafts, plus message CANUCKS NATION about it without other people wanting my attention RIGHT NOW! If it weren't for that, things might be better in that way, but Jimmy IS a narcissist...

Later, I went to London Drugs on a 401 at 5:55 for replacement Garnier Fructis orange Marula Oil shampoo and conditioner / Ivory original body wash, and a purple replacement LifeCandy shower pouf. I also bought two red $2 Cannon / Grand Patrician MARTEX washcloths, on-sale Brookside Chocolate bars x2 for Jon's birthday in November (Roasted Almond and Sea Salt / Cranberry Almond with Blood Orange Flavor), Waterbridge Connoisseur Premium Liqueur chocolate brandy beans (Christmas stuff on sale at the stores already before Halloween...), bulk Always pads, original Dawn dish detergent, and Purell hand sanitizer x3 before getting home at 6:45 on a 407. * Mom and Dad's presents: Random stuff from Mom and Dad: A Colgate toothbrush, 95 mL of Colgate Cavity Protection toothpaste which expires in April 2020, a Joe Fresh wristwatch already set to the correct time, a broken Cadbury Fruit and Nut dark chocolate bar (not that it matters), nine Halloween puffy skull stickers, a religious Gratitude Journal with a tree on the cover, and a Michaels ruled journal with an L on it.

A Michaels spiral notebook with speech bubbles on it plus a bonus pen, a set of eight Paper Mate Ink Joy Candy Pop! ballpoint pens (orange / red / black / purple / green / light blue / pink / dark blue - which now seem to write curves better than when I banned them from my apartment in March 2013), and a birthday card ("YOU ARE... the [green] apple of my eye") with $20 in a red lucky envelope... all in a Vitamin World plastic bag protected by a Sunmore Ginseng paper bag with handles! {28}

Yesterday, I got banned from a names Facebook group because I "misgendeered" the newest admin. Not my fault that her name is ASH and she has a female in her display picture; if she wants random people to think that she's a male, that is very misleading! Then I got into it with Natalie (chibi_blackie / missblack / andinclosing), who thinks she "won" by "dragging" / roasting me. Nope! I deleted her comments because she was being condescending and talking down to me. It's almost like she doesn't realize that we're from different generations! I had to block her once she made a proud status about how I was deleting her comments because they made me look bad. Very funny, ha ha ha. At least I don't use slang that's not from my generation, and Lena / Mike T. / Vanessa / Julie supported me!

Natalie!

From Julie: I know I'm a little bit crazy, and that's all part of my charm. If you don't like it, then get off my unicorn.

It's Air Conditioning Day and WORLD OYSTER DAY today, so of course I ate my Mac's raw oysters for treat purposes! :D

I finally finished Facebook tagging of my ARN'S WINTER QUEST, BOZOBOUND, JONBOUND, MOTHER 3 Enemies, MOTHER 3 Back Sprites, EARTHBOUND, and MOTHER 2 DELUXE pictures! Finally, having some unfettered time to do that stuff without certain people like Jimmy bugging me a lot was good!

From Julie: Ala?! As in "à la mode"?!

GOOD TASTE dumplings / DIM SUM! GOOD TASTE dumplings: Beef and Vegetable, Cabbage and Chicken, Cabbage and Pork, Pork and Chive, Pork and Celery!

GOOD TASTE dumplings! JOY dumplings! )

After I had COFFEE TIME, Barry picked me up at 11:50 and we went banking and to Price Smart, where I bought Palmolive Ultra Strength dish detergent for that computer chair which now has grease on it, as per Andrew's and my phone call on Friday about Teunis moving to Saskatchewan because they can buy a house there with saved money / swapping out the computer case for a smaller one in September since it's still part of our deal. I got NEW Nissin prawn noodles x2 / NEW Nissin soya sauce and pork noodles x2 / on-sale Western Family beef noodles x2 / on-sale Western Family vegetable noodles x2, JOY dumplings x4 (Pork and Tri-Treasure, Lamb and Onion, Pork and Vegetable, Pork and Chive), Winter Creek raw oysters x2 for Raw Oyster Day (expires on Aug. 6), NEW on-sale Peace Tea iced tea x4 (Razzleberry raspberry / Lemon Love lemon tea / Caddy Shack tea and lemonade / Greenest of all Teas green tea) and on-sale Earth's Own unsweetened almond milk.

Also purchased on-sale Clorox wipes x2, on-sale Kraft Parmesan cheese, a Hungry Man turkey dinner, Arm and Hammer baking soda, Arm and Hammer toothpaste, on-sale Prego Fresh Mushrooms pasta sauce, World Authentica Cuisine pasta sauce, on-sale Western Family blueberry-pomegranate yogurt, on-sale Western Family frozen vegetables, Vedan mushroom and artificial cuttlefish instant noodles, Wei Lih spicy beef noodles, and Six Fortune broad noodles. Then my debit card got declined a couple of times because I couldn't swipe my chip card, and the magnetic stripe couldn't be read! I think I'll take Barry's advice and go to Coast Capital sometime so I can figure out this shit. After that, I paid my Shaw bill online at home. That also gave me some stress because the bill was twice as high as it should have been, and I had to make a new Shaw ID and secure password at their website! Damn technology!

My newest top-voted Reddit comment: If someone defends themselves by saying "it was just a JOKE!", odds are it wasn't, especially if you found it to be creepy or invasive behavior! This girl's guy friends defended her against a creep!

Pooping at the library, aw yeah!

From Andrew M.: It's a good thing farting isn't contagious like yawning is. That would be terrible for everybody.

Kelli E. has a Facebook friend named Keerstyn Taafe?! BAD SPELLING of Kirsten or Kirstin!

From Julie: Keaundra?! Also, 51 and 27 is a HUGE AGE GAP!

From Julie: Nica?!
