After COFFEE TIME, I discovered a TOILET TANK EMERGENCY! It wouldn't flush, which was NOT ideal because Chinese Eric is coming over tomorrow! Besides, I really didn't want to go across the street every time I needed to pee! So I bit the bullet and called Hester a few minutes later since I needed to leave at 2, who scolded me for not being perfectly polite and composed on the phone AND for not writing a note. Fuck off - I have to deal with YOUR limited English, and I don't have TIME to write a note to have you deal with the problem after the weekend! Eventually, I managed to communicate that the toilet flush wasn't working, and Ni came by within ten minutes and actually fixed the issues. In that time, Brian had already offered to come over - THIS is what my new friends do for me?! WOW! :D

I left at 2 on a 414 to see Rachel at the Caring Place. Then I went to Shoppers to buy a Stouffer's Saute Sensations Country Beef Pot Roast microwaveable meal, a President's Choice meat lasagna for a future hangout which is not tomorrow afternoon (expires on December 12), Ben and Jerry's Peanut Butter Cookie Dough / Chocolate Milk and Cookies ice cream, Breyers Delights ice cream in Vanilla Cupcake plus Creamy Chocolate, and President's Choice mango ice cream! Should be yummy!

After I FINALLY got a 401 after FOUR 408 Ironwood buses in a row and a 407 at Brighouse after waiting since 4:10, I went to the pharmacy next door to see if I could get my eyedrops prescription filled before they closed. Adam could do it right then, but I didn't have time to chat or to wait for the previous chatty customer to finish because I had frozen things in my bag, so I was in a rush by default! The instructions are the same, anyway. I got home at 4:45 and FINALLY shoved everything into the freezer, almost before the items started really melting! Good thing I can probably get Chinese Eric to help with opening the eyedrops tomorrow if I remember... so I put them on the table with the low-tech blue guestbook and everything else!

After COFFEE TIME, I had to get ready to leave by 11 for Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot at Lansdowne for a lunch with Mom and Dad. Fatty beef, lamb shoulder, Napa cabbage, white noodles, tofu, yams, vegetable and pork dumplings, deep-fried chicken wings, cod fillets, shrimp balls, beef balls, fish balls, tiger prawns, broth, an iced sour plum drink, and tea! Mom complained that they had seen bus stops around my place - yeah, but that doesn't mean they are in service right now! Dad "helped" with my phone's data and wifi settings. Yes, I know Harmony's family birthday is the 10th somewhere. I'll confirm things with Jon in a few days; no need to rush and be impatient about things! They dropped me off at London Drugs, so I walked home and got in at 12:45.

Random stuff from Mom and Dad: $10 cash, Maggi Masala Indian instant noodles x2 which have already expired as of February 3, Nosh and Co. Munch Madness cheddar and sour cream chips, GIM roasted seasoned seaweed x10, a Want Want gift pack (a box of strawberry Lovely Puffs / five small bags of orange QQ Gummies / a box of round chocolate sticks / a bag of milk candy), No Name chicken instant noodle packages x6, No Name chicken cup noodles, Paldo (팔도 (Paldo)) hot and spicy cup noodles, a package of Nissin chicken instant noodles x5, a packet of Wing's Foods hot chili sauce, President's Choice ginger-peach teabags x18, and organic Nighty Night Traditional Relaxation Teas teabags x4.

FINALLY HOME ON APPRECIATE A DRAGON DAY! I got an egg with salt, milk, and a half-sandwich for breakfast today, and said my goodbyes to Dylan / Deb / Declan / Elysse! Deb even packed me a lunch of last night's pasta and stuff even though Dylan drove me home this morning on the way to school and work?! SO NICE! She even included what looks to be an entire Walmart Great Value store brand frozen lasagna for later consumption whenever! WOW! Steph called later so we could discuss my recovery, NO NEED FOR RUSHING THE OTHER EYE SURGERY while driving me home from the hospital, Mom using my sink as a garbage can for her plastic wrap (which isn't even something that can be washed down the drain!), Henry starting to talk now, and Fraser's daycare.

After COFFEE TIME, Vanessa and baby Cassidy picked me up at 11:30 so we could hang out before my eye cataract surgery on Thursday. We went to the Lansdowne Mall food court to try the good dumplings / SLB / wonton at R&H House, and bubble tea at Fresh Elements. Then we walked around T&T to get Paterson's Shortbread (400 grams at $6 for Deb and Dylan), GOLDEN DRAGON SUSHI (for me), pomelos, hot and sour soup, more food, and some veggies. I didn't mind the walking around!

We talked about Jason saying some questionable things, Bev, Hester, Teunis, Krista, showing bamboo shoots to the baby (who didn't like touching it), baby sign language, the baby pointing at things and liking my red bling sweater, shower caps, and more. I did manage to get a blue $4 GOODY shower cap at the pharmacy next door when she drove me home at 2:25, so all is well on that front. It was good to see her for sure!

EDIT AT 10 PM: I went out again in the freezing weather at 8:50 on a 401 to get my Wednesday evening pre-surgery nourishment since I somehow have to not eat anything after midnight on Thursday. Thank goodness that the Stouffer's Sauté Sensations microwaveable meals were on sale for $5 each! I got Chicken Alfredo and Homestyle Beef Pot Roast, plus a NEW Cadbury Dairy Milk Oreo chocolate bar! Damn self-checkout not working well... at least I got home at 9:35 on a 407 so I could finally finish the last two eyedrops doses of four!

From Mario Day: Mario is being interrogated at the police station. A cop says, "... said he was trying to save a princess... and that he was being chased by turtles. SONG AND ERRANDS COINCIDENCE, OH MY!

I went to H and M at 12 on a 401, but they HADN'T put my sweatpants on hold last night... ugh! They had to get a runner employee to find the sweatpants. Thank goodness that one of the three sweatpants had the right style number (06365 868), so I was able to get that blue one, paying by cash. The clerks were very apologetic that it wasn't really put on hold and that I had to wait more for the frozen computer.

Then I went to Shoppers Drug Mart to get a Hungry Man turkey microwaveable meal, getting home at 12:50 on a 401. IF I DIDN'T HAVE TO WAIT AT THE STORE, I COULD HAVE TAKEN THE 407 AT 12:30, GETTING HOME EARLIER! Merlin also just messaged me on Discord - he, Kramer, Poohbear, and Kitsune have just received their Christmas card and Soo salmon jerky! Excellent, even with the Canada Post strike backlog!

After I got Barry to swap my microwaves for me (1000 watts is better than 700 watts!), I fielded phone calls from Dr. Wise's office (DUH - of course I know about the ultrasound appointment since I booked it myself yesterday), and then paid my Shaw bill online at home. Then I left at 5:30 to grab the mooncake flavor names from Price Smart, just managing to get the 401, which waited as I ran across the street on my green light! After that, I went to London Drugs to get NEW on-sale Lindt Excellence Dark Chocolate x3 (Crunchy Cacao / Pink Peppercorn / Hazelnut), Goody toothbrush covers x7, and a smaller 300-page red Hilroy notebook for my smaller reusable bag. Barry A. Cook and Kyriakos Gouridaris tried adding me to Facebook - DENIED! Steph called me unexpectedly the other day (the 13th) to vent about Mom and her overly-complicated planning, especially trying to let JON pick the location for MY birthday AGAIN. His kids are not an excuse for everything! Planning with Lisa's side of the family is "we're inviting ourselves over for dinner... boom, done!" She definitely doesn't miss that OR Mom, but does miss me and seeing the boys. Apparently, Mom was trying to get her to come over for my birthday, but if she wouldn't fly over for Beckett's baby banquet last week... at least Lisa, Fraser, and Henry are doing well. I don't care if she can't make it for my birthday, especially if it's just her solo and everyone else isn't part of Mom's "whole family" image! That's offensive!

Then I called Auntie Catherine last night (the 14th), trying to change our Monday plans to Saturday plans like it originally was. Nope, she has car issues and the doctor's appointment is better for her. Well, I felt bad trying to do that, which is something rare for me. Oh well, at least I briefly talked to Chung on the phone, and Auntie Catherine can just meet me in front of Pepper Lunch!

From Hockey Memes: Brace yourselves... the NHL preseason is coming!

glowing_dragon: (Bert and Ernie)
After COFFEE TIME, Eric M. picked me up at 5 so we could go to Golden Spring Restaurant (near the old VCEFC church site) for Beckett's baby banquet. Unfortunately, I forgot his birthday Lindt Excellence dark chocolate bars (Madagascar / Pink Peppercorn) and birthday card on the way out the door, despite leaving a note for myself. I guess I'll have to give it to him at the Felico's dinner like he wanted. UGH! At least he can give me a ride to that one! We talked about his first hockey practice today, his first game on Wednesday, there being a good reason why Steph / Lisa / Fraser / Henry weren't here this weekend, Highway 99, Steveston, and more.

We had seafood soup, sweet and sour pork, chicken, fish, yee mein, red bean soup, jellyfish, Chinese cold cuts, seafood soup, tea, and more for dinner - I got to take leftovers home, too! Dad thought he had to remind me to say hi to Mom, Uncle Richard, Auntie Gloria, Pastor Fulton, Auntie Teresa, Auntie May, Uncle Anthony, Uncle Andre and his wife Anna, Uncle Joe, Auntie Wing Yee, Auntie Vivian (who said that she missed me and wondered where I'd been "hiding"), Uncle Eric, Auntie Brenda, and their other friends. No, I just wanted to get settled first! I did say hi to Holly, Peter, Evander, and Everett when they got there, of course.

When Auntie Catherine got there, we caught up a little later - she remembered my birthday in September as "a special time," and wanted us to get together. She said that Frances is getting baptized next week - ha ha ha, good luck with that! (from what Ellen tells me...) I'm probably not going to go for THAT service, but did personally tell Jon that I would be willing to go to Beckett's baby baptism service if VCEFC ever got around to organizing one. Auntie Catherine also would be willing to meet me in RICHMOND (!) on Saturday the 15th, and maybe invite a friend my age. Okay, then! As long as it's not about religion AGAIN...

I taught Ayler about Talk Like A Pirate Day since he was wearing a pirate T-shirt. He asked what people did for that, and how he could celebrate; he eventually figured that he could wear his shirt and say "Arr, matey!" like I suggested. Good ideas! He did ask about my skin scars, but I told him that it was my choice to make boundaries about my body, just like him. Later, he refused to ask my reasonable question about how Grade 1 was so far; then he didn't want me to see the time on Eric's watch, so he covered it up. Okay, then. I did say hi to Hiero, but Harmony was wearing Beckett all evening, probably to prevent people from taking photos.

Nathan, Jeremy, Randal, Caleb, Rebecca, Jon, Harmony, Eric, and I talked about Batman / Quentin Tarantino / Twitch streams / my new glasses and upcoming eye surgery / my Felico's celebration (Jeremy and Nathan say they'll confirm later) / Danielle travelling these days / FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL / learning to ride bikes from Ron and Veronica / CRAZY RICH ASIANS / JOY LUCK CLUB / Kendrick Lamar / some guy named Danny Miller / addiction issues / rappers / the weird Asian shows on the TV, which Harmony did NOT feel the need to ask the staff to turn off / counting the courses. We saw Alan and Tracy with their kid Noah, so waved at them on their way out of the restaurant. I wished Myles a happy early birthday while saying hi to him, Brittney, and Naomi. Then Eric had to wait a few more minutes while I said bye to everyone that I knew... oh well.

Eric dropped me off at 8:40, which is still pretty good. Time to relax now! Oh wait, Mom wants Jon to choose the location of my birthday dinner AGAIN - yeah, I'm not putting up with that this year. Let ME pick the damn restaurant, although at least the Oakridge area on a Monday afternoon is better than Commercial Drive with Sunday bus schedules! Not saying I'll never go to Commercial Drive, but NOT at the behest of another person ON MY ACTUAL BIRTHDAY! No, I'm not feeling guilty about that. She tried calling me twice, but I was NOT in the mood for yet more social interaction. That's the true introvert nature!

Random stuff from Mom and Dad: $20 cash (making up for yesterday's pizza plus a little more), an old one-litre Proctor-Silex water boiler (half the size of my current one), a pair of white socks, a pair of pink-and-white candy toe socks, and 200 sheets of Hilroy lined paper.

After I had COFFEE TIME, Barry picked me up at 11:50 and we went banking and to Price Smart, where I bought Palmolive Ultra Strength dish detergent for that computer chair which now has grease on it, as per Andrew's and my phone call on Friday about Teunis moving to Saskatchewan because they can buy a house there with saved money / swapping out the computer case for a smaller one in September since it's still part of our deal. I think I'll take Barry's advice and go to Coast Capital sometime so I can figure out this shit. After that, I paid my Shaw bill online at home. After DOUBLE COFFEE TIME, finishing my Chicken pasta Sidekicks which expired on April 10, and finishing both of my grape Gatorade bottles which expired TOMORROW (1.2 litres with lots of peeing!), I left at 4 to meet Jon's family at the Oakridge Safeway at 4:45, but of course they were late. Jon says that they have a van now - SWEET! We went to Golden Spring Restaurant for Mother's Day / Mom's 70th birthday. Ayler tried grabbing my hat, but I said no. Later, he said that he could stay up later if he had energy - yeah, that sounds about right.

Harmony decided to enforce her "no screens" rule on the entire front room of Golden Spring Restaurant (which turned out to be right near the old VCEFC) because Hiero always wanted to see what was on the TV - you couldn't even HEAR it! I had to put up with Auntie Teresa, but at least Auntie Eva dropped me off at King Edward station later. Lamb, (boneless) rock cod, celery, green beans with beef, crispy chicken, rice with eggs and scallops, onions, Chinese root soup, red bean soup, and "Bring Your Own Dessert" New Zealand Manuka honey chocolate! 12 rolls of Western Family toilet paper, a floral sweater vest, and $5 cash! I got home at 8:25 after opting for a leisurely walk home from Brighouse Station. Now I think it's time to relax with Jimmy, as per usual. :D

After COFFEE TIME, I left for Jon's at 2:30 in the rainy weather, stopping off at Kam Do Bakery for a BBQ pork bun; I also bought three Bath Retreat shower poufs at Shoppers, but one was actually pink in my bathroom lighting (it looked orange in the harsh lighting of the store...), so I had to throw it away unused. I'll just get a couple more non-pink LifeCandy poufs at London Drugs next week since I need at least two days at home by myself after being out at some point for four days in a row. When I got to the house, I saw a lot of paper planes and a bunch of drawings / workbooks from Ayler, who can read simple words and write equally simple words. I read a lot of books to the kids; baby books and stories, oh my! Jon's guitar student Kayla had to sit through an anatomy lesson about pregnancy and baby bums, oops. I had some grapes and a tiny mandarin orange while the kids had apple slices and asked me why they would turn brown. So I told them that it was science!

For dinner, we had spicy jerk chicken with rice (me), soupy casserole (the kids), chocolates, and fortune cookies. ("A man with brown eyes will give you a special surprise"?!) After his lesson, Randal stayed for what seemed to be a brief pre-dinner before meeting a guy named Carlos who has clingy emotional vampires for friends. We caught up a bit: my week, the online drama with certain people, his dad liking DVDs from Sunrise Records at Metrotown / Westerns / Clint Eastwood, his dad doing better and walking around, his wanting to write a screenplay as his next goal with his Christian book club friend who has a Chinese actress wife who grew up in Russia, and life goals. I also helped Ayler with his "home reading" from kindergarten: THE WATERHOLE, indeed! I wasn't sure how much help to give him with "waterhole," and he said that only parents were allowed to sound out words. Well, that's too bad for you, then! Randal said he'd drive me to the Canada Line station since it was pouring even more outside, which I appreciated. I technically didn't have a seatbelt on, but it's a very short drive. I'm just glad that Jon and Harmony's landlords finally installed a light at the back so people can actually see that dangerous step going down! I got home at 8 on a 407, no thanks to an idiot driver stopping between buses to let his friend out at the station. The bus driver got out of the bus and yelled at the guy, haha.

I went out at 3:40 on a 407 to get Knorr hot and sour soup mix x4, a new silver colander, and Samyang terrorist chicken bomb 2x Spicy noodles from Big Crazy. Then I went to Price Smart for Winter Creek raw oysters x2, red / black / blue Sharpies, 200 index cards, some Crayola felts, and on-sale Hainanese chicken, getting home at 5 on another 407. The Canucks played the Islanders at 7 tonight; the game went to overtime, and Vancouver won 4-3 on a goal by Leipsic!

Now I have to RETURN the Winter Creek oysters since I can't even open the jar with the jar opener! UGH!

After I had COFFEE TIME, Barry picked me up at 11:50 and we went banking and to Price Smart. I got Bah Kut tea noodles, Fat Choy broken straw mushrooms x2, on-sale store brand perogies x2 (potato with cheddar cheese / potato with cottage cheese), 32 Christmas cards spread out over two boxes (one set had a cat on the front with a Santa hat / the other one had a snowman with a scarf and robins!), NEW limited-edition Nutmeg and Cinnamon Triscuits, on-sale store brand mango juice x2, on-sale store brand orange juice x2, and on-sale Original Sapporo Ichiban noodles. Also purchased on-sale Chunky Soup x10 (NEW Texas-Style BBQ Beef / NEW Baked Potato with Bacon / NEW Creamy Chicken Noodle / Seafood Chowder / Chicken Noodle Soup x2 / Chicken à La King / Beef / Chicken Vegetable Pot Pie / New England Clam Chowder), GOOD TASTE dumplings (Beef and Vegetable / Cabbage and Pork / Cabbage and Chicken), on-sale Sidekicks (Garlic Butter with Lemon / Mexican Rice / Tomato Alfredo / Singapore Curry Noodles / Honey Garlic Noodles / White Cheddar Queso), and on-sale Silk almond milk.

Then I convinced Barry to go to the London Drugs so I could try returning the useless American Greetings Christmas cards - they're STOCKING STUFFER SIZE, not mailing size! SUCCESSFUL RETURN! I got home at 1:10, which is surprising. Noticed that the Rosemary and Olive Oil Smartfood Delight popcorn was already expired as of the 21st, so I had to throw it away with the rest of the trash and detritus after trying a bit. Then I noticed that one of the chicken noodle soup cans was dented, so I had to consume that right away as well. UGH!

I left for baby Henry's 100 Day-ish celebration at Western Lake Restaurant at 4 today. I thought that was early, but considering that I had to wait a bit for the 33 bus to 29th Avenue across the street from King Edward Station, that was okay. Thank goodness that Victoria is a major street! When I got to the restaurant, most people were there already, but whatever. I got to sit at a table with Fraser, Lisa, Harmony, Ayler, Hiero, and Steph's trainer plus her family. Of course I said hi to Melia (I didn't know she worked in the Minoru area!), Angus, Dawn, Eni, Michelle, Daniel, Denise, Margaret, Eunice (who hugged me hello), Chelsea (who hugged me goodbye), her husband Nick, Auntie Christine, Uncle Reuben, Uncle Y.C., Auntie Catherine, Auntie May, Auntie Eva, Auntie Gloria, and Uncle Richard! I managed to put my oversized Santa hat on Henry before eating, haha.

We had a ten-course Chinese meal... SO FULL on fish, veggies (pea tips / carrots / broccoli), shrimp, lettuce wraps, duck meat soup (or whatever replaced shark fin soup), crispy duck, chicken, crab, rice, and tapioca dessert! Fraser was distracted by my bling-bling sweater, for which Lisa blessed me. He named all the colors correctly! Hiero said "no" to the question of whether I was a girl, so I guess I'm a boy by default. Could be worse! Harmony offered to drop me off at a Canada Line station later, so I accepted. She also told me to watch Ayler while she took Hiero to the washroom, but he was all preoccupied with counting the squares on a pillar anyway, so I didn't really need to. Of course I said bye to Steph, Lisa, Fraser, and Henry before leaving! Ayler said that SOMETHING was hurting after being buckled into his carseat... good to know, haha. Thanks to Harmony dropping me off half a block from Oakridge Mall with my leftovers, I got home at 8:05 on a 407 which I only had to wait a few minutes for at Brighouse. The Canucks played St. Louis at 7 tonight. I got home when it was the second period, and the game went to overtime, where Vancouver lost 4-3.

After COFFEE TIME, Tryanna from Pathways picked me up at 12:30 today so we could do some food shopping, but I'm fairly sure I lost my voice at some point overnight. We talked about Croatia, her smoking, Pho, tripe, bubble tea, and more. I got bananas, two birthday cards for Jeremy (beer!) and Christon, on-sale Paldo spicy cheese noodles, Dove lemon shampoo, Dove lemon conditioner, Dove hydration conditioner to go with the GLISS shampoo, on-sale store brand Western Family echinacea, Vedan spicy mushroom and cuttlefish noodles, Nissin sesame oil noodles, on-sale Paldo garlic Namja Ramen, on-sale October Fifth Bakery lotus red bean mooncake.

Also got on-sale Chunky Soup (Beef / Vegetable Beef / Chicken Noodle Soup x2 / Clam Chowder), on-sale original Laksa La Mian noodles, NEW limited-edition Doritos Sonic Sour Cream chips, on-sale store brand Western Family white vinegar, Olivina margarine with olive oil, three cans of Fat Choy straw mushrooms, an on-sale Hungry Man microwaveable turkey dinner / a Swanson's turkey pot pie for Thanksgiving weekend, an on-sale Pepsi bottle for attempted toilet cleaning purposes, on-sale Earth's Own almond milk, and on-sale Lipton tomato garden vegetable soup. Tryanna wanted to know if we could have coffee afterwards since they apparently have a budget for that, but I wanted to get my frozen stuff home and focus on resting my voice instead. Maybe if my voice was 100% today! At least she said that she wanted to help me more often if Barry couldn't!
