48 Z-Grip Pens (December 18, 2019) from Staples while I was out anyway / a backup K120 USB keyboard, a backup Certified Data Deluxe Optical mouse, 2000 Flushes with Chlorine, Paul Newman's Alfredo sauce for next year, London Naturals unscented dish soap, Vim bathroom cleaner from London Drugs / half-price JOY dumplings x4 (Pork and Tri-Treasure, Lamb and Onion, Pork and Vegetable, Pork and Chives), Earth's Own almond milk, another Hungry-Man Queso XL bowl, and $9 Saniderm hand sanitizer x4 (the limit) from Price Smart equals another productive shopping trip! I should have gone to the pharmacy next door YESTERDAY since it looks like they're closed for ALL the Easter long weekend! Some dude wondered if the entire building was closed - looked like it to him when he peered in. Oh well... I left at 1 on a 401, and returned at 2:50 on a 407.

This bus seat right behind the bus driver is Out of Service because of the coronavirus pandemic! I was standing on the bus (technically not allowed now) and it was moving, so this is as good a photo as I was going to get.

The Romanovs: The Real History of the Russian Dynasty, Part 1

The Romanovs: The Real History of the Russian Dynasty, Part 2

I left at 4:30 to meet Paulo and Darryl at the Cascade Room (2616 Main Street, near Main and Broadway-ish, more like Main and 10th) for Paulo's belated birthday hangout at 6. I wanted to be early just in case there were stroller / wheelchair delays or elevator shenanigans - surprisingly for once, there were none of those AND I just managed to get a 3 bus which had ten people total in it, but they couldn't find my reservation when I got there at 5:30! I was seated at a high table pretty quickly, though they said they'd move me to a booth once some people left who had been there at 4. Paulo texted me and Darryl said on Discord that he was getting an Uber. We waited to see if Steve would show up (Estefan is in Whistler at the moment), and I finally messaged him. He replied pretty quickly to say he was having a bad day, so no. I showed them both the phone notification, and they joked about guilting him into it since we HAD to find a place that took reservations JUST FOR HIM! Seriously, dude - we could have stayed with the Brassneck Brewery plan!

We were on our phones a lot, which actually is pretty good for me. Talked about Jimbo's opinion on our Superfriends server and how I know I can't change his mind on it (and wouldn't want to - why bother?), the secret chat, all the drama, Holly's opinion on Jimbo not telling us much about his work, the 12 Kings meetup being last year on March 12 already, Brian being sued by some people, and Holly nuking the original server unexpectedly. I showed them some funny toilet paper-related memes, while we tried various food and drink: gin and tonic, Amber something, mushroom poutine, sausage rolls with barbecue sauce (which I spilled on my DRAGON HOODIE - necessitating MORE LAUNDRY when I got home!), white wine, schnitzel, steak, desserts, and more! The Cascade Room was advertising Jameson ginger and lime Slurpees for St. Patrick's Day 2020. Good luck with that!

Darryl said that his buddies might join us, and wondered if we'd mind. I said no, but deferred to Paulo since it was his belated birthday celebration - HE didn't mind, either. Harmony texted me at 7:15 to say not to worry about coming over next Tuesday as they're limiting everything non-essential including public transit trips. They've even cancelled their Harrison Hot Springs vacation next week for Spring Break, which makes sense! If I were a different kind of person, I'd ask if they don't trust me! This is best for everyone's health and safety, though.

Eric M. also texted me: "FYI, VCEFC has been cancelled because of COVID-19 concerns" - that's what I thought would happen when I heard the daily BC health guidelines the other day. MORE FREE TIME FOR HIM! We left the Cascade Room at 8 and walked a block or so to the Colony Bar across the street from Save-On Foods. I'd have gone in earlier to see if they had hand sanitizer, but they probably don't. I told them that my brother lives around there, but that it was probably bedtime for the kids. They joked about invading their place anyway even if the nephews were there, but I knew it was a drunken joke and didn't take it seriously. Paulo offered Darryl a hit of his vape since he'd tried smoking, but he declined due to the pandemic - smart!

We were at the Colony Bar for about 70 minutes or so, with Darryl unexpectedly buying us a round because it was Paulo's birthday. I got a Parallel 49 Jerk Face 9000 beer - I had to order it because of the name! No, I wasn't surprised that Paulo barely touched his beer - they'd already had a lot at the Cascade Room. We discussed alcohol tolerance, Paulo totally forgetting about work once on HOLIDAY PAY, the coronavirus, and whether Darryl's buddies would actually show up. I gave up on them at 9, about five minutes before they DID come in. The guy put his hand out to shake hands - what?! I instinctively shook hands, and then went to wash my hands immediately afterwards since I had to pee anyway. My hand sanitizer was way down in the bottom of my Doge bag, then I had to look for my phone when I got back to the table, which was also in my Doge bag! Habit to look in my coat pocket... not sure what I'll do once it's summer!

Paulo declared that he would call an Uber since he said it was too cold to wait around for the bus for too long. I decided to just wait for the bus since it was more wallet-friendly. The East Indian 3 driver waited THREE TIMES for no reason, holding everybody up on his bus! What schedule is there to make up at 9:30 PM?! You have your breaks now, so that's not a good reason! Of course that made me late for the Brighouse train - it was pretty chilly outside, so I took the opportunity to send Mike a picture of my current footwear at Marine Drive station after fighting with the wifi.

Mike said something about "where's the glim-glam?" so I texted that 1 degree was too cold for bare feet and toeless sandals! (I waited till I was up on the platform since I heard the YVR train announcement from the statue) The train was sparsely populated, too - I got my own little row of accessible seats since an Asian lady moved far away from me instead once I said I needed her seat. I got home at 10:35, thanks to that stupid 3 bus driver - I could have been home half an hour before! Doing laundry seems to have worked for my dragon hoodie, but I can't seem to say the thing for my four towels since I used them to wipe up a flood of water from when I was showering a few days ago. Guess I'll go tomorrow to London Drugs and buy up on-sale zinc citrate, four towels, and maybe a pair of Secret socks!

Before COFFEE TIME / BRUSSELS SPROUTS TIME / HOT CHOCOLATE TIME, I called Chrystal at work at 10:10 AM to remind her about tonight. I left at 6:50 on a 414 (which actually had the wheelchair ramp slope in use instead of the steps) to get to London Drugs on time at 7:30 or so. Unfortunately, someone caused a delay for me at Brighouse. Why would you try to start small talk with someone in an elevator who obviously isn't paying any attention to you for a 20-second ride?! No, I'm not going to respond to a guy cyclist's "hi, how are you, hope you're okay, ma'am" in an ENCLOSED SPACE, especially because YOU AND YOUR BIKE FUCKING MADE ME MISS THE FUCKING TRAIN AND WAIT AN ADDITIONAL 11 MINUTES! The elevator wasn't on the first floor either when I needed it to be! I saw the train pulling into the station when I had JUST gotten to the stairs outside!

Don't get me started on the three tall white dudes who evidently had something like "Well then! What the?" to say to me when I was running for the train at Broadway on the way home! THEY WERE OBSTACLES IN MY PATH so of course I had to BARREL into them, and I didn't even have time to turn and yell FUCK OFF! Or the guy IN the train who was blocking my path right when everyone got off and I wanted in. People, have some spatial awareness and consideration! Too bad they didn't think I had coronavirus! At least Mike found my text message rants entertaining!

I FINALLY got to London Drugs at 7:45, where Chrystal was waiting for me and wandering near the back of the store. We quickly decided on our default option of Pho Extreme Xe Lua, since Cactus Club would DEFINITELY be busy on a Friday night even if we'd bothered to reserve beforehand! (they made us wait for 45 minutes at my birthday dinner even WITH one!) We ordered a small #1 (special noodle soup for Chrystal), six signature butter chicken wings for $9.50 to share (although she only ate one - we split the bill anyway), and a large #30 Bo Bun Hue noodle soup for me. We talked about my trip (I showed her some photos), her nephews Benjamin and Ethan, Ayler / Hiero / Beckett / Fraser / Henry, my relief that Mom wasn't coming on that trip, the flight delays, toys, that gas leak on Chinese New Year, her sushi Chinese New Year dinner with family, Hiero's UBC birthday party and presents, Beckett learning new words, Hiero being sick, and work not being fun today. I got home at 9:35 on a 407, which I guess wasn't terrible for leaving the restaurant at 8:50...

From James: Might be the best selfie of the year, and it's only January! Cats and dogs!

I got a blue dragon as my home icon on Google Maps on my phone! I set my "home," tapped on the menu icon, skipped the commute, and tapped on the three dots which appeared so I could change the home pin!

I discovered that Andre had unfriended / blocked me on Facebook - WHAT THE HECK?! Eric picked me up at 8:50 AM so I could use church as a vehicle to get to the Osborne Gym at UBC for Hiero's 6th birthday party. It helps that his hockey is all the way out at UBC, too... and it turned out that his hockey building is practically right next to the Robert Osborne building! He said that the LUFIA music sounded like something crazy was going on at my place - HAHAHA! I packed the Creature Chumpers toy (but forgot the birthday card), a bottled water, my Doge bag, and the other Starbucks Cold Brew before putting my boots on just in case of slush. Made my bag heavier, but it was okay. Eric and I listened to the radio for a bit until some guy came on who just monologues at you all the time - not his thing, and not mine either!

When we got to church, there was still plenty of parking across the street. As I thought, the car door went CLONK into a slush accumulation. Luckily, Eric could pull forward a bit so I could go into the nearby parking lot and then cross the street after getting on the clear sidewalk. I waited around outside the sanctuary, saying hey to Joe. When we were allowed to go inside, I said hi to Geoffrey and Sheena, and was respectful of the service. Hiero was there with Jon (who was preaching today), so I asked him if he wanted his birthday gift now or later... of course he chose now, before the Children's Sunday School.

I realized I'd forgotten the birthday card, but I can always give it to him later. He seemed out of it for some reason, but I wouldn't find out why till much later. Then he was trying to get Jon's attention, but he was busy talking to Pastor Dan. When I got back from the handicapped restroom (seeing empty water jugs inside and hoping a grandma didn't have to use it), Hiero had gotten Jon's attention, who told him to say thank you. I said that he already had (when I prompted him), so of course he didn't have to say it again! I did see Uncle Eric and Auntie Brenda at different times, and an uncle said hi to me as well.

Jon had an engaging sermon on Mark and seeds, at least. Even Julie S. agreed with me later on! I said hi to Sam, Auntie Cathy, Auntie Catherine (hug), Auntie Esther (hug), Cordia's mom, Helen C., Joe T., Ivan, Lesley, Dylan / Deb / Declan / Elysse (who thinks it's crazy that Hiero will be her age by next week AND who was eating sugar cubes), Cordia / Amasiah / Julie S. / Denise (who sent a photo of me to Steph) / Julie M., Auntie Susan x2 (Karen Grace's mom and Vivian's mom), Darren L., Martin T., Acer, and others. I could hear Acer swearing in the fellowship hall while talking about DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS, but whatever.

Soon enough, it was just a little group of me, Eric, Cordia, Amasiah, their friend Jeremy, and Acer since everyone else was staying for the Larry and Bella Mori missionary lunch before Missions Fest later in the month. Once we were shushed by Auntie Ada (Benedict's mom) since the Cantonese service was going on, we moved to the stairs, where I noticed a few minutes later that we were blocking the way, so we stood around a little outside the sanctuary in the "hall" until the bench cleared up. We still had to watch our volume, though!

Jeremy insisted he wasn't a weeb just because he went to Japan with some guys - including Acer's cousin - and had to translate for the group, Cordia said she's accepted who she is, and said that Amasiah was morbid like me - SWEET! We talked about the Japan trip, Japanese people KNOWING when you're "foreign" to them even if you're Asian and fluent in the language, Sharon's health woes in the Osoyoos (being literally stuck at home), 80 cents for a medium bottle of milk tea in Japan, the Mori kids Timothy and Tiffany, Molly, people following others on Instagram, pressuring Amasiah to buy some Pokemon figurine on Amazon since she didn't in Hong Kong, my trip, the snow and slush, anime / manga, otaku people, Discord, and lunch plans. Eric and I went upstairs to see if we could get some extra $2 sandwiches (Benedict had five pink tickets from his mom!), but he decided not to bother or distract anyone in the rooms, which I noticed are now labelled. They even upgraded the water cooler from a huge jug to a black self-cleaning one!

A few minutes later at 1:25, Eric asked if I was cool with going to Broadway / Cambie instead. Sure, why not? We could get fast food burgers, so we went to A and W where he kindly paid for my Mama Burger and we shared his fries before going to Pacific Spirit Park and a parking garage on UBC campus. He pressed the crosswalk button for me in the rainy weather, and showed me which building to go into. I went into the Robert Osborne building, connected to the Wi-Fi, and looked for a specific gym on the Evite to no avail, so I had to text Harmony about it. "No, gym" is not really a great answer to "should I meet you on the second floor?" when there are at least three gyms and lots of lockers in the entire place... as I told Steph, I wonder how many "where is this place specifically?" calls and texts they got before the birthday party.

Jon and Harmony were actually early with the kids, probably because they had to sign a waiver and were nominally hosting 15 kids and their parents. I showed Beckett the balls that he had dropped in my bag, but he seemed too out of it even for just waking up. He did look at them with widened eyes, but said nothing. After I met Hiero's friends Emmett and Huxley (what a name!), I heard that Hiero had puked on the gymnastics equipment when Harmony was explaining what had happened in Chinese to her parents! IRRESPONSIBLE AND GROSS! WHY WOULD YOU SUBJECT KIDS TO THAT?! Even Ayler was complaining of feeling sick at the end of everything later! While I was there, Chinese Eric replied to my text about the All-Star Game, saying he'd get back to me later. Why don't you figure it out first, man? I'm not like my ex Mike who wants an almost-instant response! Uncle Joe and Auntie Wing ended up driving me home after the refreshments since Costco closes early on Sundays, so I got home at 6:25. AWESOME!

Random stuff from Mom and Dad, who definitely wanted the tiny tote bag back if Mom dug through my bag for it: Cao Is Starvingbase Chongqing instant noodles, Paldo Jjajangmen Chajang instant noodles, Country Life pure soap, a random floral soap circle, Princess Cruises Lotus Spa shower gel x2, a shoe brush, a Bath Aquatics h2O+ bath bar, and Ontrue roasted seaweed x2 in green tea flavor! It's MINE after I put it in my bag - come on now, WAIT FOR ME TO GET BACK FROM THE WASHROOM AND THEN ASK PERMISSION! Even Beckett has more respect than that! When he dropped his balls in my bag, he just stood by the bag and didn't go through it... I'm sure he doesn't have the words to ask about the balls, but that doesn't matter!

The Tiger Tiger Sukiyaki noodles did come with a lot of packets in the bowl with the handy lid, all crammed inside!

Gummies, water jugs, hot water advisories, and party food! )

After COFFEE TIME, I went out at 2:40 on a 401 to help with the kids, but decided to stop by the post office first to mail stuff to Steph and Joan for $4.38 only! It was sort of quick, no thanks to someone wanting to check out her post office box while mailing stuff! I got to the house at about 4, and settled in to play with Beckett, who walked to the door to say hi, and also walked to the washroom to see what I was doing. He's picked up "please" and has a new Summertime word board book, which he plopped into my lap to "read." (he's working on "ladybug" and calls every animal a "doggy" - cute!) When I took his turtle and frog blanket away from him to adjust it a little, he said "mine" and snatched it back. Okay, then! I found his cool blue sunglasses, and he wanted me to put them on him a few times, so I did. He also moved an emotion egg ("dan-dan") around on the freezer door handle, which he found amusing - better than throwing balls into the dishwasher! (and he smiled BIG for the Vitamin D tablets - and loved chocolates!)

Ayler told me about the TAB key and how the SHIFT key meant that you had to stretch your pinky ALL the way - yup, you're right! He also called Beckett "my baby," haha! Hiero "shot" me with a Duplo "gun" which he could turn into a "sword," and they both encouraged Beckett to go to the printer and print something out! Later, I found Beckett's family baby book - he pointed at the page with Myles on it, and called everyone "Cou-fu," hahaha! He pointed at Steph and said "auntie" - he was also pointing at me from the table and saying AUNTIE, too! Hiero asked what I'd do if he called me "Auntie Blah Blah," so I said that I'd ignore him because that was disrespectful. They were making paper "birthday cakes." He also wanted me to read "Weird but True," but I was busy with Beckett, who'd gone to the far windowsill to roll some balls he'd left there. Harmony asked if he was okay - sure, he didn't kill himself on the curtain! We talked about pastors at church when I brought up Pastor Dan leaving.

When Beckett went under the piano bench to sit under the piano, he practiced the word "happy" - that's a good word to know, for sure! We had duck with hair, avocado, beans, hibiscus juice, bok choy, and soup for dinner. They'd had hot chocolate earlier, and Beckett made a couple of big messes with that AND the juice! Uh-oh is right! Random blobs of food even got on my socks (from the Cheerios that Beckett was giving me from his mouth), so Harmony gave me Jon's socks to wear home. I taught him the word "zoom" in reference to a small toy truck that was lying around. He likes spinning the wooden "intersection" from the train tracks, and is less amused by the baby pop-up toy now. When I spread the blankie on my lap, he lay down on it and sucked his fingers. Guess he likes the blankie!

I left earlier than I might, and Beckett knows BYE-BYE and said it a lot to me! Finally got home at 8:35, no thanks to idiots holding open the door at Bridgeport so some guy could get his HUGE bag of stuff in (making someone else move), OR a bike at the Brighouse elevator, OR what turned out to be the 407 driver blocking my direct path to the bus door because he HAD to talk to his colleague about his "twin." I was so annoyed that I said "EXCUSE ME!" Some people need to catch the bus, you know! Contrary to what I usually do, I didn't even thank him on my way out of the bus! The Canucks played Tampa Bay today at 4, and LOST 9-2?!

2019 Yearly Recap!

This is the 2019 recap. Fitting for the last day of the year, no?

JANUARY

* Hung out with Vanessa and baby Cassidy pre-surgery at Lansdowne: Fresh Elements bubble tea, good dumplings at the food court, GOLDEN DRAGON SUSHI, and more! She helped me open the ridiculous eyedrops bottles, too! [Jan. 7]

* Had eye cataract surgery at Mount St. Joseph's - yikes! Luckily, I had love and support from my friends, and my parents DID drive me home! [Jan. 10]

* Had a one-day followup appointment at the eye clinic. Thank goodness that Barry was able to drive me! Things looked healthy! [Jan. 11]

* Crashed at Deb and Dylan's for about a week. Declan and Elysse liked me from the start, and it was pretty interesting and funny. ("I have my dad's old phone, Elysse." "Did he die?!" Haha!) Lots of meals and Swiss Chalet plus lamb and ribs and packed lunches! I appreciated their support, for sure! [Jan. 11-16]

* Had my one-week followup appointment at the eye clinic. My eye still looked healthy and there is no need to rush on any new glasses! I got hit up for cash at Vancouver City Centre, but I said NO. He should have fucked off instead! [Jan. 17]

* Had Hiero's birthday party: glow-in-the-dark bowling at Grandview Lanes! Dylan and Deb kindly gave me a ride back, and Mom did NOT have to insert herself into our post-church plans by thanking them for "looking after" me! [Jan. 20]

FEBRUARY

* Got a chance to three-way call with Kate and Pothead Mike right after the hockey game, which the Canucks won 4-3 in a shootout against the Flames! It was pretty good to hear their voices as we chatted about a bunch of things including Ed Kemper and the RCMP tank in Surrey. [Feb. 9]

I had to go banking by myself today with my Asian old lady shopping cart at 11:20 on a 401 (JUST managed to get it), then went to Staples for 60 Z-Grip Pens (July 10, 2019), and wasted time at Price Smart. Stopped at London Drugs for a new Santa hat / on-sale Smokehouse Blue Diamond almonds for the plane tomorrow / on-sale Connoisseur Waterbridge chocolate brandy beans / on-sale portable Wet Ones wipes in citrus scent x4, and Shoppers for tomorrow's breakfast (a salmon poke bowl) plus on-sale Arm and Hammer Cold Water laundry detergent. Royal Bank has these brand new "envelope-free" deposits, and an alkie guy had to sit RIGHT NEXT TO ME on the bus stop bench while horking and drinking his brand new beer from the liquor store - YUCK!

When I got home, I showered and did laundry before texting Deb a reminder about taking me to the airport tomorrow morning, then setting an alarm for tomorrow just in case. Then I had to figure out how to pay my BC Hydro bill when it hasn't come in the mail yet - UGH! I had to phone a 1-800 number and got it sorted out within 20 minutes, so I could finally pay my Shaw and hydro bills online. Steph reminded me about some other stuff too, which is handy to know. I definitely took out some garbage before I forgot - ew, garbage for two weeks!

Chinese Eric is alive! He apparently had problems with his phone and could only access his voicemail, and also wants to hang out one last time before 2020. This is better than my thinking he's mad at me for the pink Ruby Kit-Kat bar, but I leave tomorrow morning, so that won't be possible! I also suspect he could be making stuff up since it's been more than two months, but whatever!

From Julie M. and Introvert Spring: People say "go big or go home" like going home is a bad thing. Hell yeah, I wanna go home, AND I'm going to take a nap when I get there.

FUCKING GOOD! )
glowing_dragon: (Devilish Smile)
It's Friday the 13th today!

Mom and Dad wanted to come by today to pick up the "remnants" of the broken Heys suitcase - good thing I found the broken handle INSIDE said luggage before they came by this morning at 10:50 AM, since I thought I'd lost it when it wasn't anywhere on the floor nearby! Dad thought I needed to wash my hair since I wore the old Alaska sweatshirt with dandruff on it - uh, I was chilling at home and didn't need to shower till LATER! Apparently, Mom had to use the bathroom even after going at Dr. Ruby's (and apparently didn't wash her hands at my place - GROSS!) - REALLY?! She also gave me a couple of medium candy canes for the boys in a produce bag (plus chocolate almonds for me in another produce bag), but I was happy to keep them for myself since Harmony didn't want the boys to have too much sugar. Yeah, good luck with that one...

After DOUBLE COFFEE TIME and SHOWER TIME, I went out at 3 on an 401 to help with the kids. Harmony gave me some Children's Hospital Christmas cards with white envelopes, so YAY FOR THAT! I also got a card and stickers from Julie in today's mail, plus a surprising card and stickers from Janina, who deactivated her Facebook profile AGAIN a while ago. That was nice of her, though! Rishu wanted to call me anyway since I "couldn't" make it in to the boonies of Richmond, but was so late about it that I should have just taken a shower at 1 instead of 11:45! Hurry up and wait - UGH!

Got to kill a bit of time at Marine Drive Station, but just spent it online near the statue where I could get a wifi signal from Dublin Crossing pub, and got to Harmony's at about 4:30. She'd warned me about being quiet since Beckett was actually napping, and I said I'd be there soonish. The bus HAD to stop for two minutes at 41st, and then ran into rainy-day traffic crap at 20th or so... I'd rather be safe than in an accident, though! When I got in, the boys were reading a Mercy the Pig book, which I had to finish because Harmony had to tend to Beckett and the lasagna at the same time.

I read a few pages of CHINOOK CHRISTMAS - way too advanced for Ayler! - before I decided just to play with Beckett, who had just come out and was loopy. He gave me a bunch of toy balls and emotion eggs, wouldn't respond "yeah" to my questions for a bit, and just stared at me for a while. Later, he did warm up (I got a hug!) and "read" the 100 Words book, saying something that vaguely sounded like "what's that?" and pointing at a picture. Of course he knew where the balls were, but also called a kid's head a "boh-boh," which Hiero found hilarious! "HAHAHA, he called it a BALL!"

We had the aforementioned lasagna with kale and ricotta, cherry tomatoes, and grapes for dinner. Beckett was only slightly interested in this dinner, but at least did not upend his tray on the table this time. He cried and was upset, only smiling when he saw the Vitamin D bottle. No, of course we wouldn't let him overdose on them. "NA NA NA!" he said about the Rice Krispies - he also seemed to like the Advent Calendar chocolate halves that he was allowed. Beckett said ATTIE to me, so YAY! He liked giving me emotion eggs, rolling some balls, playing with the shells, trying to fit the stacking blocks together ("Na na na!" he'd say when he wanted me to take it out), and finding the balloons on the stacking blocks AND the "Christmas tree ornaments" in the boys' room. Then he was also more receptive to saying "yeah" to my questions and even grabbing some rolled balls himself. At least the baby pop-up toy still made him laugh, so YAY!

When Harmony was out of the room (having told me about location settings on my phone photos for everyone's privacy reasons - which I figured out later at the bus stop), I asked Ayler what he really thought of screen time at school. He smiled and said he liked it because "it's the opposite of what my mom wants." HAHAHA, nice! Hiero said that he knows what the "other" meaning of PEE-PEE is, and was busy giving "presents" to his mom of random toys in egg cartons and boxes. Beckett repeated some words like "wow" and "after" when he heard us say them, with "MOMMY! BECKETT SAID WOW!" as a reaction from Hiero.

Myles dropped by at 8 (when the kids were still up), only to have Ayler accuse him: "Cou-fu is stealing our lasagna!" HAHAHAHA! No, Jon just made a couple of mega-batches! Myles also managed to fix the printer, which Beckett had somehow managed to knock offline. We talked briefly and side-hugged; while Harmony was preoccupied, Ayler said he had a question for me, but I had to come over and look at the computer keyboard. Sure, why not? He just wanted to know about the very top row of Function keys - at least he knows to ask me, because his parents probably won't answer! Beckett said "Cou-fu" and "Attie" for Myles' video, which was cute. Later on at 8:30, Harmony finally let me go - I was surprised when I was home at 9:30! I did say bye to Beckett, giving him a high-five and showing him that big gold "boh-boh" at Richmond Centre. They don't need me on Tuesday because of the kids' Christmas concert, so that's just more time to do some stuff before my trip!

After COFFEE TIME, I went out at 2:50 on a 401 to help with the kids. I would have taken the earlier 401, but someone took FIVE MINUTES to maneuver a wheelchair into that bus! I don't expect people to be extremely fast when it comes to that, but I always appreciate the actual wheelchair users who are fast and efficient movers when they see others are waiting! (she was... not, and held up everyone else) There went any extra time I had to buy lotion and dish soap at Shoppers! At Marine Drive, I actually managed to get a 3 within a few minutes, which was amazing! No incessant talker today, thank goodness. Finally got to the apartment at about 4:10 in the rain, and Beckett was sitting on the mat and waiting for me - so cute! I gave the kids some Mars bars and Coffin Crisp plus a Christmas card later on. Hiero confused a CARD for a CAR, asking me where the Christmas CAR was, hahaha! Harmony set him straight, though. (my phone had randomly saved photos of Beckett eating out of a pot earlier, hahaha)

Ayler and Hiero did origami / cut-out snowflake crafts at the table after one too many "no scissors on the ground" directives that got ignored, so Beckett and I spent our time rolling balls to each other / being distracted by "boh-boh" (the bling on my white sweater AND the pom-pom on my Santa hat, which he batted around at times) / "reading" books while sitting on my lap (he picked up "yummy" from me!) / his giving me his blocks and balls and emotion eggs / his saying "yeah" to my simple questions of whether HE would get the balls instead of me (but he didn't) / his knowing where my fuzzy purple winter coat was with all the big buttons. Harmony said that balls were his very favorite thing in the whole wide world, which I can believe! (LOTS OF ALLITERATION!) She'd taken him across the street since there was a Christmas tree with lots of ornaments, and he'd loved seeing all the "boh-boh!" He also wanted to look out the window, but was stymied by the Venetian blind being down, and thus blocking his view. His other window was blocked off by chairs and couches, but he managed to throw balls in that restricted area, which I of course got out for him.

We had pork and mushroom jong (sticky rice) with garlic, cherry tomatoes, gai lan, and water for dinner. Beckett actually ate more than usual, but Harmony thought that was down to the sticky rice, some of which did fall in his bib, but luckily did not smear or smudge on my Heat Holders socks! Ayler told me that he had a Christmas concert next week, and a winter party because his class had received a lot of points to go towards one. NICE! I asked if he was going to have ornaments, but he says no because it's not Christmas. That made sense, I told him. After they learned about butterflies and cocoons and the chrysalis, Ayler wanted to hug me! I said that he could hug me, paused, and added "only if you want to." He did! That was amazing!

Ayler and Hiero didn't like it when Beckett climbed on them, but he's so light! While Harmony was out of the room for a bit, Ayler told me that he gets screen time at school (as does Hiero), and his mom doesn't like it. I had to laugh, since I could see this coming years ago! When I left the apartment at 7:50 (so late!), Harmony said that Beckett had called me "Attie," and he called me that again while pointing to me. HE KNOWS WHO I AM AND WHAT MY NAME IS - SO CUTE!Hiero told me seriously that his school friend knows Punjabi and she wanted to teach him some language skills - good for them! Harmony wanted to know if I could come on Friday the 13th, so I said yes. As it turned out, I hope fervently that I used up ALL my "bad luck" tonight - I kept on missing trains and buses galore! EVERY SINGLE ONE! I got home at 10, which is pretty fucking late!

From Reddit: For the first time since January 10th, 2006 (which was also a Tuesday), the Vancouver Canucks will finally host the Toronto Maple Leafs at 7 PM PST. The Canucks played Toronto tonight at 7, and lost 4-1. UGH!

After COFFEE TIME, I went out at 3:10 on a 407 to help with the kids, bringing along the rest of the Almond Butter Nature Valley granola cups. I had just enough time to stop in at Tim Horton's briefly to buy a Boston Creme doughnut and take a photo for posting purposes, thanks to the lineup inside! Then I quickly left to catch the 3, which is when I finally texted Harmony. When I got to the building, some guy answered when I buzzed to be let in. Luckily, some lady with a stroller was entering the building, so I quickly explained to her what my deal was. Then I took the stairs since the elevator is pretty small, and knocked on the suite's door while explaining to Harmony what was going on. Beckett was awake and standing with the piano bench for support, and was outside the bathroom door when I finished in there. Yes, he was excited to see Auntie! :D

Ayler was playing the piano (telling me about his piano books and music) and putting up with Beckett banging away at the keys he could reach, while Hiero wanted me to read various MR. MEN books to him and see all his paper planes and swords. Beckett wanted to play catch, but then also throw some things around. At least it wasn't as bad as a couple of months ago! He wanted to turn on the printer and play with it, whereupon Ayler showed me where the power button was - SO HELPFUL! Beckett had found his purple and yellow baby pop-up toy, and wanted me to pop the yellow shell right-side up on it: At least he laughed at that after a while, and tried popping it with his finger! Silly Beckett - you're not strong enough for that to work! He turned it upside-down and had fun sticking his finger into the hole. Then he was upset when I was trying to collect the pop-up toy and a couple other toys: he stretched his arms out towards me! So I put the shell on the table temporarily while I picked him up. YAY!

We had squash, purple noodles, soup, kale, salad, and other things for dinner while discussing Kids Night / my NOT being psychic about their Halloween costumes / math quizzes during dinner / the impending bus strike / Rice Krispies not being real food for a meal / hot chocolate sort of being like dessert / what packaging was / less waste. Beckett pointed at the ceiling lights - oh, he'll love Christmastime if he likes babbling at those! Harmony said that Jon was coming home at about 6 so she could go to a school meeting. My nephews were singing "Trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat. If you don't, I don't care, I'll pull down your underwear" at dinner. Oh boy. Then they were asking me what a ding-dong was because an adult asked them if another kid was one for spilling his milk. Yikes.

Later, Beckett ACTUALLY WALKED TEN LITTLE STEPS ALL BY HIMSELF! His motivation was the big bag of toys! I actually saw this, and was surprised as was Harmony. He usually just toddles one or two steps and then falls into her arms. Hiero said, "Text Daddy!" Oh, she did! Later, I told him not to force him to walk - he'll do it at his own speed, and new things can be confusing. WOW, HE CAN ALSO STAND WITHOUT SUPPORT!

Then Beckett was crying and upset and hit his head on the wooden floor when Harmony had to leave (what a delay tactic...), so of course he got comforting (hopefully) cuddles and hugs from me and Harmony! I read to him and tried making him laugh with the orange alphabet and animal sounds board, which at least was a distraction. He liked the shapes and blocks that the older boys used to play with, and showed me how he could put a couple of blocks together and then throw them around. Of course I used his bib to wipe his nose - I'm sure it's had worse on it, so whatever! It's handy! After I left at 7:15 (hearing Beckett babbling to himself in his crib), I wasted time at Save-On because all the exotic pasta was too heavy and somehow didn't photograph well in the brightly-lit store. UGH!

Then the 3 had a few delays, what with the "timing point" for two minutes at 41st and Main, then the bus alarm going off TWICE! (four stops before Marine Drive Station, THEN right before the station at 70th!) Once I finally got to Brighouse, I killed time at Shoppers Drug Mart since the mall was at least warm: NEW President's Choice frozen small sweet green peas / frozen peaches and cream corn, plus NEW on-sale Uncle Ben's Canada wholegrain brown rice! Got home at 9:05 on a 407, and it was definitely time to switch to warm wintry wear like a toque and Grandma's purple lined Alia coat and stash a scarf and mittens in my bag, especially if more walking is on the agenda with this upcoming transit strike...

At home, I had some (After Eight) hot chocolate, which I also need to restock in general. Random stuff from Mom and Dad inside an Indigo, Chapters, and Coles plastic bag: a can of Chef Boyardee Beefaroni, Colgate Cavity Protection toothpaste, and a random pair of thin white socks. I left the socks and plastic bag at the bus stop since I didn't need them. The garbage bags were STILL outside at 10 PM!

In the morning, I told Jon that I had some cash, so I could still come tomorrow if they needed me. I went out at 2 to the pharmacy next door to get some Buckey's Cough, Cold, and Flu medicine. Then I showered and did some laundry now that Hester says the elevator is FINALLY FIXED AFTER "only" TWO MONTHS!

Since I didn't have to help out with the kids today, I stayed home to wallow in redrum unglory, haha. I felt bad because I had genuinely forgotten to give the cleaner a $20 cash tip yesterday (and remembered the time when Eric made us go back to the Pho place next door to church so I could give them a tip for dinner), so after some procrastination, called the EcoClean number given in my text reminder yesterday at 3:55. No, an e-transfer wouldn't work as far as I knew, and neither would a credit card payment on my own non-existent credit card if I didn't want it getting back to my family. The guy said he'd call her and see what she wanted to do.

Someone knocked on my door at 6:30, and it turned out to be the cleaner, who actually lives in Richmond! SHE thought I was paying for the service in cash, and wanted to call her boss, but I clarified. I said that I didn't want her to think that someone deliberately didn't tip her since I definitely wanted to show her some appreciation (especially since she was doing it all by herself), so she thanked me and gave me a big hug after I gave her $20 in cash fresh from my wallet. I should get more envelopes since I have no idea where my other ones are! At least my laundry token seed money of $20 is still intact!

The Canucks played Edmonton tonight at 7 in their first game of the 2019-2020 NHL season, and lost 3-2. Chinese Eric texted me yesterday afternoon wanting to come over today at 4 after lunch and errands, so I resigned myself to a lot of talking and said yes, getting the parking pass ready. I did have to give him the strawberry / original / mango / banana / peach / melon / apple Milkis cans, after all, and could also use him to pick up a carton of almond milk that I forgot last week at the store. He came by at 4 after COFFEE TIME and SHOWER TIME, wanting to watch the Leafs game, but also picked up a carton of almond-coconut milk from the store instead of the almond milk I wanted, saying that I'd failed to specify. IF I WANTED NASTY COCONUT MILK (WHICH I DON'T), I'D HAVE SAID SO! We did try the Dr. Oetker salted caramel cheesecake, which was okay. Then he said that printing out the Canucks schedule was a waste of paper - he should have seen how much paper I wasted on things which weren't perfect to me! Besides, it works for me when I want to plan stuff during the hockey season - SO THERE!

He left at 5 to exchange the milk at Price Smart... GOOD! By that time, I'd composed the email to him / white Eric / Jeremy (who'd thanked me for my "Happy Birthday" email earlier) / Jon / Christon / Randal about his proposed 12 Kings hangout on October 22 to watch the Raptors championship banner unveiling after we figured out WHY their first preseason game was at 3 AM. (it's in Tokyo...) We had Western Family 8-vegetable lasagna with multigrain pasta for dinner: Carrots / green and red Bell peppers / spinach / zucchini / cauliflower / broccoli / black olives! Also talked about his seeing Corey Hirsch at the art gallery, the Leafs-Senators game (Toronto won 5-3), bottled water, his doing the dishes, live-action remakes of things like ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS and ALADDIN, "you know" all the time (FILLER ANNOYANCE!), McDonalds / Tim Horton's hockey cards, that Grow-A-Husband, my guestbook, the SIMPSONS, Channel 22 highlights, and more. Then he finally left soon after the game ended, at 9:40. Now it's time for video game music to relax!

After I had COFFEE TIME, Barry picked me up at 11:50 and we went banking and to Price Smart. I bought a NEW on-sale Caramilk chocolate bar and a half, NEW Triscuit dill / sea salt / olive oil crackers, NEW Triscuit Canada balsamic and basil crackers, NEW basil and garlic Triscuits crackers, Ottogi Jin Ramen in both spicy and mild flavors, NEW Western Family chicken and wild / brown rice soup, NEW Western Family chicken and rotini soup, NEW Western Family soy sauce x2 (regular and 50% less sodium), NEW DASANI water (after the soy sauce attacked me), a NEW HERSHEY'S Gold chocolate bar (peanuts and pretzels), Western Family 8-vegetable lasagna with multigrain pasta (carrots / green and red Bell peppers / spinach / zucchini / cauliflower / broccoli / black olives), on-sale Olympic Dairy organic plain yogurt.

Also bought bananas, on-sale Excel Gum in peppermint flavor x3, NEW Shirakiku Goku-Uma tonkotsu noodles, NEW on-sale STAGG Chili Canada Steak House chili, NEW Tim Hortons canned soup x3 (Cream of Broccoli / Chicken Noodle / Chicken Rice), on-sale MilkisPH Snoopy six-pack drinks x7 (milk and yogurt in a bottle / canned melon / canned apple / canned banana / canned mango / canned peach / canned original), Western Family prune nectar, on-sale NEW O'Tasty vegetable / pork / black mushroom dumplings or potstickers, Joy Chinese Dim Sum dumplings x4, and Silk Canada almond milk! After that, I paid my Shaw bill online at home.

Later, I tried to get Hester to give me some laundry tokens (March 26, 2019). She said that they were going out right now, but I could have some if I came by immediately. So I did, but she was STILL not impressed because I should have taken the "nearest" stairs so she wouldn't have to wait three minutes, which is apparently an inconvenience. Well, maybe she should work on the building's elevator which has been out of service for five weeks, and replacing the dryer which has been out of commission for three months! Then when I left her door, she said that I should take the "nearest" stairs - no, because I'd still have to walk down a long hallway regardless! I told her NO! I'm going to do what works best for me, and it's just TOO BAD if my disability and walking speed causes her to wait a few more minutes to leave the building since they haven't invented teleportation for real yet! The Canucks played the Senators again tonight at 7 in Preseason Game #7 (the penultimate!), and lost 6-2.

It's National Punctuation Day today... MY FAVORITE! After COFFEE TIME, I had to leave at 2 on a 401 and then a 410 (which I just got to on time, no thanks to idiots blocking my path on the sidewalk) for my appointment with Dr. Ruby before I helped with the kids. That was uncomfortable - I also saw a professional Audrey. Also, I had to buy more NEW Beehive Burst Peppermint lip balm at the Dollar Tree since there was no photo online that I could find, so I had to take my own photo. (I had ripped mine open last week before I figured this out...) I was there on time, but STILL had to wait 20 minutes to be seen! UGH! I should have gone to Dollar Tree before rather than after! Then I tried to speedwalk over to Lansdowne station a block and a half away, and just missed a Waterfront train thanks to these two slow ladies on the elevator going down.

When I got to Marine Drive station, I definitely needed a snack, so I went to Tim Horton's. Luckily, there was no lineup, so I got a non-sticky cheese tea biscuit and then got out of there to find that a wheelchair wanted to get on the 3 as well. Then a stroller wanted to get on - at least this one contained a fairly curious kid who growled and made various noises, unlike the other stroller who got on after that one left! After another delay caused by the driver stopping in the middle of the road for five minutes to check an alarm that was going off, I finally got to Mount Pleasant at about 4:20 when I could have been there at 4:05! Too many delays! Yeah, I used Term to complain to via text, haha.

Inside, Penny was just finishing up speech therapy while Beckett was failing at napping again. Almost right after Penny left, it was off to the park across the street because Harmony wanted to walk Beckett around the playground to see if he'd nap then. Spoiler alert: He did not. Ayler asked if I wanted to play tag or Manhunt - no, because I had run out of energy and was like a car which had run out of gas. Hiero asked why I walked how I did, so maybe Jon and Harmony should talk to him about it at some point. Once we got home again after more promises of consequences, I got to play with Beckett for a bit. He liked the baby pop-up toy because it made him laugh more than usual, wanted me to shake my head a lot because it was funny, liked PEEK-A-BOO as per Hiero, tried eating my DRAGON HOODIE strings again, and climbed on me a few times. (he did pull Hiero's hair, though!)

At the same time, Hiero was trying to show me his origami. Blowing up squares to make huge boxes, oh my! Later, I stayed close as Beckett crawled on the couch despite Ayler telling me not to let him do it. Well, you're doing and completing a HUGE connect-the-dots puzzle, so I'll do what I want while keeping Beckett safe in my own way, including trying to put on one of his missing socks. We had salmon, congee, Chinese chicken soup, meatballs with ketchup and barbecue sauce, some veggies, and ridiculous amounts of shredded pork. Then we talked about whether Jon had been shot today at the Downtown Eastside (he was fine and didn't have to lie on the floor as per Hiero's question), why people shoot at each other ("because some people think that the best way to resolve their problems is with guns" and "that's why we don't joke about guns"), my Cactus Club birthday dinner, Ayler seeing Brooke early this morning ("how do you know?"), Hiero doing flips and gymnastics in the elevator earlier and being injured, and how much everyone in the family could eat compared to each other.

After I washed dishes for a bit, I read to Hiero about Optimus Prime and the Decepticons, then listened to Ayler play a boogie on the piano before listening to him read a Level 2 story about polar bears. Sure I had to help him with some words, but that's normal. I left at 7:20, but couldn't get a 3 bus till 7:40 thanks to a couple of buses being out of service! I missed a Brighouse train by five minutes, and JUST managed to get a 407 at Brighouse, no thanks to people blocking my path where I was going to run to the front door of the bus. Do I really have to shove my way past other people all the time to get where I'm going in a timely fashion?! I got home at 8:35, checked my mail, and found Julie's birthday card plus random stuff - yay!

Random stuff: Nathan returning the OUTLANDER novel to me, six packs of Compliments Safeway brand spicy chicken instant noodles, and yet another pair of reading glasses. 9/17/19 is also a palindrome date AND MY BIRTHDAY! After COFFEE TIME, I went out at 3:30 on a 401 to help with the kids. I JUST missed the Brighouse train because of someone shoving their way onto the elevator when the door was closing, and ALMOST missed the 3 bus at Marine Drive because someone wanted to let others on the already full elevator! JESUS CHRIST! People already on the elevator have connections to make and places to go - they can wait for the next one! And no, I did not leave really late!

When I finally got to the house at about the usual time, Beckett was fussing and trying to sleep. Ayler and Hiero were doing some origami; no, they couldn't test me on my birthday since that isn't very nice! I got to see Ayler construct a tiny gift box, while Hiero put very small things in his. Ayler wanted me to look at the origami book, so I did - lots of stuff in there for sure! Later, he wanted to see if he was taller than me yet - nope, but he was also cheating (which I told him) because he was standing on the mat and I was standing on the floor. I did tell him - as usual - the demarcation between my neck and my chin. Wow, he's 4 foot 6 already?!

We had dinner earlier than Beckett, and Hiero told me something interesting about making friends in kindergarten. It's good to know the proper names of your body parts, I told him. Harmony asked what I did for my actual birthday: Uh, you're currently looking at it! Turns out Jon believed Mom when she said it was the 16th, so I told her that maybe she shouldn't automatically believe Mom, and take what SHE says with a very liberal grain of salt. Homemade tomato soup, artisan bread, sticky rice (JONG), chicken feet, spicy sausage, soft carrots, and shortbread camel cookies - I declined the relaxing tea, though!

Beckett finally got a little bit of sleep - which I agree that he needed - and then crawled to my chair and pulled himself up to say hi and eat my dragon hoodie strings. CUTE! He wanted me to play with him, so I did - without washing my hands, which I'm sure Harmony wasn't impressed with. Oh well. Sometimes you gotta let the kid lead! He laughed at the baby pop-up toy, clapped and laughed, climbed on my back to try pulling my hair (Ayler says he claws people and pulls their hair now), and seemed way more energetic than Harmony thought he should be. Maybe he just wanted to play with me since he recognizes and likes me now!

Later, he crawled into the bathroom while Ayler was in there, but I was interested to see what he gets up to inside. Turns out that he's smart and knows that his blue basin is inside the shower stall, so wants to put it on his head. I took him out of there to play with better toys on the mat, and he climbed on me when I put the soccer ball on my head. Harmony let me go early at 7:10, which was a change. There was a transit officer on the 3 Marine Drive bus already, which again did not stop anywhere randomly for a few minutes. I still was a couple minutes late for a Brighouse train, but eventually got home at 8:45. Not a bad end to my birthday at all, involving no rushing like LAST YEAR!

From Nita: A pencil is on the phone. "I'll call you back later, okay? I'm having dinner with my editor." The RUBBER ERASER is the editor, hahaha!

After LAUNDRY TIME (with the elevator STILL out of service...) and COFFEE TIME, I left at 12:15 for my Invisalign appointment, barely managing to get there on time thanks to a wheelchair JUST making me miss a Brighouse train at 12:35. (they're definitely entitled to use the elevators and trains - I might have made it with the time it took to wheel the person in and out...) The technology simulator was pretty cool, at least.

I did see Dad, which is what I'd been expecting, so I briefly discussed it and he said no if the insurance didn't cover it. I got brochures and the health angle, also expected. Once I finally got out of there at about 2, I saw Dad waiting downstairs. He unexpectedly gave me a ride home because it was really raining by then, and said a bunch of stuff about money and exactly why Mom thought finding the grave in Cuba was "urgent." (Steph will go with her in October?!) At least I got home at 2:40 so I could finally eat!

My next dentist appointment is on Jan. 8 at 2 - I had to go home, check the actual Canucks schedule, and then call the office to change it from the 7th at 1. Then I decided to finally call Dr. Ruby's office and found out that they can't just do a six-month referral to the eye clinic over the phone, since I legally have to go to the office to set it up. UGH, FINE! I guess I know what I'm doing on the day before my birthday...

After DOUBLE COFFEE TIME, I went out at 4:20 on a 407 to have dinner with Jon and the family at Don't Argue pizzeria, AKA Louie's parents' place, which is closing down on Friday. (that's NOT easily Googleable, Jon!) I was so early to Marine Drive that I killed time at the usual place by buying a big bag of Lays lime chips and NEW Samyang Buldak Toppoki spicy noodles. DON'T ARGUE was pretty crowded with a line out the door, but at least Jon and the two oldest were there already. Jon wanted me to kick in $20 for beer since he ran out of cash just buying the pizza and salad. We discussed mushrooms, salami, arugula, STAR WARS books, Connect-The-Dots, plans for Thursday (and repeating everything to Mom, then having her repeat it back...), a picture with 1400 dots to connect in their book, Beckett NOT eating pizza, the older kids being more independent (I knew that already, Mom), and how I inadvertently bought our parents some beer. Fine, whatever.

After that, I personally saw no point in walking back to Jon's place since there was nothing to do there for me, so I took the 3 to Broadway instead. There was a drunk guy that got on at 14th, delayed the bus driver by having to put his shirt on, magically had his fare, and then asked the entire front portion of the bus if we had any cigarettes. Ugh! I also wasted time at the Broadway London Drugs because they didn't have any dark MARTEX bath towels... DOUBLE UGH! After going to the London Drugs nearest my place for a red MARTEX bath towel, I was finally home at 8:10, but then had to do a load of laundry even if the elevators are out of service AGAIN!

After COFFEE TIME, Corey got back to me on Discord and confirmed that yes, he did use Line to talk to people in Taiwan. I eventually managed to install the app successfully on both my phone and computer - PHEW! I also talked to Nate and Darryl, which went well. Later, I left at 4:30 to get to Dublin Crossing at Marine Drive Station. Turns out I was there early, but fought with the wi-fi connection when it seemed to be fine on Monday. Oh well... I went in the pub after texting back and forth with Ian, and got our table all nice and ready. There, the connection seemed more steady about 90% of the time. Phew.

I FINALLY GOT TO MEET NATE! IT WAS AWESOME! We talked about Paulo and what he's doing, Steve, Darryl and how he's fine with us and LOVES the big server drama now that he's out of there, his thanking me for not being like Holly (I let them talk about whatever), Stefan and his girlfriend, how things like money and a relationship do not magically fix your problems, his girlfriend, Paris, the Asian red-face gene, Havarti, Ontario, hydro, therapy, and what certain people needed to hear. I also talked to Laura, Matt, Ian, Sarah, Megan, and some others. I JUST MISSED THE BRIGHOUSE TRAIN because the elevator took too long to come down from the train platform! JESUS CHRIST! At least it was a nice evening and I FINALLY got home at 9:55, just in time for the daily holidays!

After COFFEE TIME, I went out at 11:10 on a 414 to see Sue, the housing manager at CHIMO. I saw a guy clapping his hands like a seal and slapping his knees on the shuttle bus, but he wasn't wearing any headphones that I could see. What the heck?! Since I was going to the building anyway, I also took along the Lays chips and roasted seaweed for Rachel - Numb and Spicy Hot Pot, Wasabi, Kimchi, Deep-Ridged BBQ Pork, and Deep-Ridged Spicy Chicken! Sue seemed pretty understanding and encouraged me to advocate for myself, dropping Dave McDonald's name, so perhaps I'll do that. Squeaky wheel and all of that, I suppose. When the appointment ended an hour later (she thinks I'm animated and have skills and humor?!), it turned out that Daisy was out to lunch at just past 12-ish.

I figured I'd kill time by taking the 410 to Yaohan so I could find some curry cuttlefish at Curry House to horrify Mike with a food photo, haha. Turns out that they only had curry beef balls and the like, and Osaka Supermarket didn't seem to have fresh cuttlefish either! I eventually went to Golden Rice Bowl and ordered broccoli and fried cuttlefish with fried noodles at 12:40 despite the fact that I'd eaten breakfast at 10, but finished the whole thing in one sitting after taking the requisite photo for Mike. That later turned out to be a bad idea since it's been feeling like a rock all evening, but there was nothing I could do other than take two Pepto. Good thing it hasn't made me feel overly BLERGH!

When I was trying to make my way out from Brighouse Station, an older man who slightly smelled like pee caused a delay in the elevator by trying to tell me to go back in the elevator, and THEN held everyone up by moving at a snail-like and glacial pace out the door. Why does it take you 30 seconds to take two steps and then be outside the elevator?! (I described this to Mike later, and he says I have a way with words! HAHAHA!) Time for a cane or walker, old man! I told him to hurry up, and he just gave me a dirty look! I'm not normally an impatient person, but others have PLACES TO GO AND CONNECTIONS TO MAKE!

Good thing this idiot didn't cost me the time I needed to make it across the street to the 406 by Kam Do Bakery! I went back to the CHIMO building, and luckily, the door was open to Rachel's work. So I asked Daisy to do me a favor and give a bag of stuff to Rachel next time she was in, thanks! She thanked me in turn, saying she'd put it in her room. That was nice and brief, and I finally got home at 2:35 WITHOUT encountering any more problems or delays. I'll eventually shower for tomorrow's Dublin Crossing pub hangout once I feel less full...

Lunchtime at Yaohan: fried noodles, broccoli, woodear mushrooms, carrots, and fried cuttlefish. I ate off some of the tempura just so you could see the cuttlefish better.

After DOUBLE COFFEE TIME, I went out at 4:05 on a 407 to help with the kids. Thanks to user-caused delays and a wheelchair going in AND going out before my stop on the 3 Downtown (creating more delays), I was about ten minutes later than I thought I'd be, arriving at about 5. Jon thought it was a traffic delay, but nope. I hung out with Beckett, whose first recognizable word is HURTS! (he was imitating Harmony the other day) He climbed up on me, which IS cute when he's that size! I scooped him up away from the balcony window a few times, but I didn't mind that. Ayler attempted to read a Dr. Seuss book, Hiero threw things around like HE was the baby, and I watched Beckett's new favorite activity: flipping pages of a board book! (he also can climb up on the couch, so Ayler and I were around for support)

Hiero tried taking my hat off, but that was a NO and led to a talk. Ayler wanted to play SIMON SAYS at dinner, and also asked me if I'd taken a shower before coming here. I lied and said yes. We had blueberries, cherries, fried rice, and Tillamook cheese for dinner - I refused the figs because they'd be messy. I was still slightly full from yesterday's carb fest (pasta AND Chinese food?!), but figured dinner tonight would be fine for a meal. Beckett can still fit under the couch, but I definitely didn't want to startle him! Ayler and Hiero wanted to listen to Liszt and Chopin, and then do some puzzles in their room. Sure, I could come next week if needed. Hiero asked me, "Does poo grow?" I guess it does...

When I left at 7:30 or so, I heard Beckett practicing his new word to himself. It was funny to hear "HURTS! HURTS!" Hahaha! I got home at 8:35 on a 407, then promptly threw out all the random (probably) non-working ballpoint pens in a plastic bag from Mom. "She pays for pens, Harma?!" Yes...

Took the stairs and noticed that the downstairs elevator works again at London Drugs, too! Just managed to get the 407 home at 2:10, so YAY for bus efficiency! I took a shower, did some laundry, and had COFFEE TIME before Eric Ho texted me to cancel the BC Lions-Edmonton Eskimos hangout since he had to to stay at work till 7:30 or so. (he COULD say no, but maybe not!) "Are you coming? Yes or no." "Yeah, I have to stay a bit later, so text you later since I have to take a raincheck on the hangout." Fine, I'll just use my $10 off coupon by myself with no heavy things! I went to London Drugs first at 3:10 to get four DEFINITE big reusable bags (I only had four small ones?!), a dark green MARTEX bath towel, a shopping cart with a cooler bag ($54.99 to $24.99 SALE!), and two more London Naturals foam scour sponges.

Luckily, I was able to sort of tuck the cart under my arm and then waited for the bus home - got there at 4:05 on a 401. Later, I went to Price Smart with my $10 coupon at 5:35 on a 401. I got Halo Top birthday cake ice cream, NEW Sapporo Ichiban Tonkotsu ramen noodles, NEW Maynards Fuzzy Peach popsicles, NEW Maynards Swedish Berry popsicles, NEW Magnum white ice cream bars, NEW Magnum Double Cookies and Cream ice cream bars, NEW Magnum double cherry truffle ice cream bars, NEW Magnum Infinity Chocolate ice cream bars, NEW Magnum double raspberry ice cream bars, NEW Magnum strawberries and cream ice cream bars, BIG on-sale Lysol lemon wipes, Maggi curry noodles, and Olay cooling white strawberry and mint bar soap.

I went to the eye clinic at 9:45 on a 401 (which I got just in time) for the six-week followup today at 10:45 after COFFEE TIME (20/30 vision is a good improvement even if I can't read fine print), then had lunch at Yaohan before seeing Rachel at the Caring Place for the last time. At Brighouse, I encountered a rude wheelchair old man idiot who assumed I was cutting him off at the fare gates - nope, I'm just faster than you, and other people also have places to go! He should also watch what he says and isn't the only person entitled to the fare gates. Any empathy I might have had for him having only one leg was just drained in that moment.

Dr. Wise recommended cheap reading glasses for now since my eyes still look healthy, and wants me to come back in six months on January 3. I went to Yaohan and killed the memory dragon of messaging people on the 6 Davie / 6 Downtown bus routes. Got beef internal noodles with wonton for lunch, and Lays lime chips / Lays cucumber chips in big bags for Rachel, Campbell's mushroom soup x2, a NEW on-sale Double-Ridged Lays chips package in Spicy Chicken and BBQ Pork (two each), MyKuali Penang Red Tom Yum Goong noodles, and NEW MyKuali spicy prawn noodles at Osaka Supermarket.

After the wrap-up session, I briefly went to Shoppers to buy on-sale Ben and Jerry's IF I HAD A MILLION FLAVORS and PEANUT BUTTER HALF-BAKED ice cream for Creative Ice Cream Flavor Day on July 1 coming up! No more frozen items until I eat some - the freezer can't fit anything else except air molecules! Got home at 4:25 on a 407, which is totally fine. Then I took a shower and discovered that Jon had made a reservation under his name at the Lion's Den for Randal's birthday on Sunday at 6. Nice!

After COFFEE TIME, I went out at 2 on a 414 to see Rachel at the Caring Place. I also went to Price Smart to pick up some Western Family lemonade at the customer service desk: Classic Lemonade and Raspberry Lemonade! Then I went to London Drugs to eventually buy an on-sale Spiderman / Spider-Man Funko Pop toy for Ayler's birthday, an on-sale Zookie Slappy stuffed puppy toy for Beckett's birthday, on-sale iron pills, and pads. Last stop was Shoppers for some President's Choice Blue Menu butter chicken cooking sauce for my white rice (I couldn't find the on=sale Arroy-D curry sauces at London Drugs for some reason), NEW Hershey's Cookies and Creme sweet and salty Popped Mix, and NEW Hershey's Cookies and Creme sweet and salty Popped Mix.

Since my bag was already heavy enough, I opted to stop by my place at 4:05 to unload and draft before going out again at 5:20. Besides, I had to take clearer photos of all the lemonade than what was available online through a quick Google search! At the hospital bus stop, I had the distinct displeasure of encountering an openly racist white smoker skateboard guy who spat at me and called me a C-word rhyming with THINK. Like I said to the white lady standing at the bus stop, this city is 50% Asian AND was built on the backs of Asian laborers! Someone doesn't know or care about their history...

While I was at Richmond Centre anyway to take advantage of the wi-fi to POST the lemonade photos to Facebook, I got some takeout dinner: chicken and beef special combo with rice, kimchi, and broccoli plus Pepsi from Koryo Korean BBQ. Then I walked to the other end of the mall to see if I could fix my text message sending and notification problem at Wireless Wave. I was amazed when I could recognize Walter without my glasses, and he fixed the problem by testing it with his phone! He said to say hi to my parents - sure, why not? Then I went to London Drugs for some Method dish soap: Lime and Sea Salt, Sea Mineral, Clementine, and Lemon Mint. I saw some NEW Dawn Botanicals dish detergent, so got the Aloe Water before having to wait for the next 407 and finally getting home at 7. The elevator is STILL out at London Drugs plaza - ugh! I got PLENTY of walking done, and also made dinner plans with Steve and Paulo for tomorrow: the Richmond Centre White Spot at 5-ish it is. Steve said, "No pork, no chocolate, and no spice," so that pretty much leaves us with "boring" bland white people food.

After COFFEE TIME, I walked to London Drugs in the rain at 10:35 to get on-sale Canada Dry ginger ale x6, on-sale Sharpies packs x2, an on-sale Lindt Gold chocolate Easter bunny, on-sale Kinder mini-egg packs x2, on-sale milk chocolate Hershey's Kisses, a huge on-sale Clorox bleach bottle, on-sale Campbell's soup boxes x2 (Golden Butternut Squash / Roasted Potato with Leek), on-sale Waterbridge Cookie Barrel biscuit assortments x2 (tea biscuits and cream biscuits), an on-sale SpongeTowel six-pack, two actual MARTEX red face cloths (the others are too thin for my liking), pads, easy-opening Vim bathroom spray (I tested it in-store away from the aisle), and TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLE stickers for Nephew #3 sometime! Good thing I brought my wheeled bag for my planned purchases of ginger ale, toilet cleaner, and bleach since everything else added more heaviness! I couldn't even avoid construction and detours at London Drugs due to elevator maintenance, forcing me to go into the parkade on the second floor past London Drugs! When I got home at 12:15 on a 401, I showered and had lunch before having MORE COFFEE TIME.

Paulo and I were trying to figure out where everyone else wanted to meet, so eventually I said "fuck it - let's meet somewhere nearby." The hospital Starbucks it was! We just managed to get the 407 at Alderbridge after ascertaining that everyone now wanted to meet at House of Dosas on Kingsway; like we were saying, we don't care if people want to do something later, JUST PICK A LOCATION TO MEET! After Paulo went on ahead at Brighouse (the elevator took a while), I got on the next train and checked my text messages. We figured out what had happened and set up King Edward as a meeting place. He did apologize ("my bad") and explained, so of course I accepted that.

We finally made it to the House of Dosas at about 6:20 and met Holly, Brian, and Darryl. I had a lamb vindaloo dosa while Paulo added a buttermilk lassi to his dinner; when we heard that he hadn't eaten all day, I said that he should have walked over to my place for some instant noodles! No, that wasn't a joke! I did PM him my address when I got home just in case. We talked about cricket, virginity, porn stars, Halloween, Good Friday / Easter, Direct Tap, a new job, a casual stress-free work culture, and maybe doing something later. It was a good time, and I did like my spicy lamb vindaloo dosa!

Later, Brian drove us to the Dark Manor on Fraser Street. It was so fucking dark in there that I couldn't see a damn thing. Luckily, I waited near the washrooms and Holly actually came out. Brian tapped a bar stool, so at least I knew where that was. There was a Zombie drink where you could only order two of them (Brian thought that was a gimmick), there was a communal huge bowl of alcohol with LONG drinking straws (SHARE OUR BACKWASH!), we needed candlelight to read the menu, and we watched Paulo and Darryl get progressively more wasted on the one Zombie drink. I did have some of Brian's beer when he offered. After that, I wasn't in the mood to drink more, so when Brian asked if I wanted to, I said no. He ended us dropping us all off at home, by the car, or near Marine Drive Station. Talked about zero-waste, weekend plans, seeing family, Jeremy being so wasted that he couldn't get home himself (and then having to pay a fine and get his car back from a towing place the next day), Garden and Nanaimo (near the old VCEFC!), and hanging out again tomorrow at the music bingo. (I declined) I got in at 8:40.

Brian picked me up at about 9 last night from the hospital's main entrance, but I had to take a gigantic huge detour because the construction had blocked off the sidewalks right by my place AGAIN! (going through the parking lot and then find the sidewalk by the pharmacy and then cross THREE crosswalks to get to the hospital) He had joked that it would be like Little Iraq trying to get to my place, and this was about right. The chill get-together was for Paulo's 27th birthday, so of course I was going to come out and meet him. Things were fine until we tried finding Fremlin, but I eventually called Holly (who doesn't have a buzzer system or an elevator in her apartment building?!) when Brian eventually found it. She said that she was going to throw her keys down to us, probably because she was tired of going up and down the stairs for everyone else!

When Brian finally figured out the front door lock (the one in my building is recalcitrant as well), we went upstairs to Holly's suite. We met Paulo, and said hi to Holly and Darryl. Talked about bartending, gin and tonic, red wine, beers, smoking (always someone's choice), travel (Jordan and Egypt and Australia), the leftover pizza with pepperoni and sausage, online people in the other Discord server, Gastown, awful dates, hyphenated names, feminism, the 407, friends being in abusive relationships, weird names like Jesus Condom, the closed sidewalks around my place, (looking for) work, Long Island Iced Teas, (video) interviews, San Francisco, Montreal, fudge Oreos, and my Korean BBQ Kettle chips. Of course I let Holly keep them! Turns out that Paulo lives two minutes from me, which is always good just in case. I let Brian drop me off at Birchwood instead of Dogwood, but I was still with it enough to figure out where I was since things looked different. Got in at midnight, which is fine. Good times with FREEDOM!

After showering, THREE DRYER ROUNDS OF laundry (the elevator is STILL out for maintenance?!), COFFEE TIME, and checking Reddit Vancouver Discord chat, I went out across the street to meet Steveston Brian at the hospital's main entrance: BIG AND BLUE! We texted briefly (after I finally was able to traverse the crosswalk) and he got out of his Mazda - much better! Talked about family and other small talk topics, which was totally fine. We went to ICBC to pick up Darryl, and then talked about various online people until we finally found parking practically right in front of the pub.

Eventually, we found a big table at the back of the pub: school, various wings, shots, India Pale Ales, Guinness, ham parties, Naomi, JMan, (Australian) accents, Asian moms, and more. Soon after Brian drove me home (dropping everyone else off) at 8:40 through all the construction, I discovered the start of redrum - UGH! Now we're just talking to the others about our impressions of the meetup, #9 Restaurant, and more. I definitely needed the break yesterday, and I guess I'll have downtime till Monday! (or maybe Friday...)

After COFFEE TIME, Eric picked me up for church in the morning. We talked about DARK SOULS, my eye surgery and insurance, how it was somewhat his fault for the sewer updates and construction zone around my place because his company was involved, drivers and turn signals, Elysse thinking my dad was dead because I now have his old phone, and sleeping in last week. We sat together in church service, I returned Deb's Ziploc tub to her / returned Mom's jars to her, and said hi to Frances M. / Sophie / Auntie Cathy / Ayler / Hiero / Andrew L.

I got a lunch and ride offer from Deb if I was fine with going to Canadian Tire beforehand (sure, why not?), and had to chat briefly with Uncle Reuben as he saw me. He asked about Dad and - speak of the devil (which I DID say out loud in church, hahaha) - Dad did pass by in purple choir robes a minute later! Ivan did joke that I should make it three weeks in a row for church attendance next week, but I think I'm good to go for now. Dylan, Deb, Declan, Elysse, and I bumped into Mom in the church elevator, where she thanked them for "looking after" me. *rolleyes* Like I can't do that myself?! Sheesh!

After looking at ALL the games / windshield wiper fluid / shovels / lawn mowers at Canadian Tire (and saying hi to Joe T. who was also there), it was time for a Pho lunch at Basil Garden (where I attempted to pay for my own meal - we talked about Farrah Fawcett / SMALL SACRIFICES and Diane Downs / SALVATION / Extreme's MORE THAN WORDS / whining / iPad time / tendon / brisket / steak / tripe / Pho noodles / rice) and Hiero's glow-in-the-dark bowling party at Grandview Lanes! While I was at the bowling alley, I successfully signed up for Shaw Open wi-fi because I'd written down my stuff at home when I could more easily access it via desktop. I also met a kid named Louie's mom (Hiero's classmate), saw kids named SPARKLE and KALAN in another group, and tried to stay out of the way, but it was pretty cramped.

Ayler asked me whether my body was cold because of the Dairy Queen ice cream cake (not yet), and added that the cake was the yummiest cake that he's ever had - NICE! Said hi to baby Beckett when he was awake, admired the glow-in-the-dark effect, watched Elysse when she looked at the frosted window, and told Hiero that I could read to him the next time I came over because my eye surgery was done for now. He seemed to like that idea, as well as the hot dogs and Lays chips and veggie platter. I got a sane ride home with Deb and Dylan, thank goodness. We talked about tonight's lunar eclipse, Jawbreaker candy, and I SPY before they dropped me off at 4:50. The Canucks played Detroit at 1 today, and won 3-2.

Random stuff from Mom and Dad: Liberté Canada strawberry Greek yogurt x4 which expires on January 22 (so I'll eat it all tomorrow night after it's chilled in the fridge), Excel Hotel Tokyu coffee powder x1, random Chinese green tea x8, Daiwa Royal Hotels green tea x1, Nikko Hotels International Roasted Japanese Tea x2, Nikko Hotels International green tea x2, random Chinese tea x4, Kantafe Creamy Powder x1, Kantafe sugar packet x2, Kantafe Instant Coffee x1, random Chinese roasted tea x1, Ronnefeldt 隆納菲 Lemon Sky flavored fruit infusion tea, Sencha green tea x1, and random Chinese coffee powder x1.

When I got to Deb and Dylan's last night, I got settled in as Declan told me a lot of stuff about MOTHER GOOSE PRESCHOOL MINECRAFT / Eep the Mouse / spawns and mobs and Creepers. Elysse was watching FROZEN downstairs, so she told me about Anna and Elsa and Olaf. Typical kid talk, but I don't mind knowing about their stuff and interests! They were able to stay up till 10 PM just entertaining themselves for the most part, so that was good for them. Elysse described Hiero as her best friend, which is cute. Declan also knows Ayler, of course. At least the kids seemed to like me, so YAY!

Today started out with HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, iPads, a poppyseed bagel for breakfast, then after a while, Dylan kindly agreed to take me by my place while he and Elysse were out anyway so I could get some more pants. We also went to a random house to get an AirSoft table for Hiero's birthday party next week. Elysse was pretty patient, all things considered. I opted for the Walmart elevators every time, even if I had to meet Dylan and Elysse upstairs since the kid wanted the escalators. She and I looked at a lot of toys, even if she wanted to pull me to the escalators after she was done people-watching. Too bad that I'm still stronger than a little girl on the eve of her fifth birthday! I didn't pull her arm, though. We discussed how it was fine and okay to make mistakes, a bunch of toys, HATCHIMAL toys, and dolls.

We got home in time for more MINECRAFT, but it was naptime for me! I got up in time for Dylan's parents to show up and then leave a little later for the family dinner they had tonight. Deb kindly made me soup with veggies and noodles, plus some other noodle leftovers and gyoza... Dylan cut up some meat for me as well before they left. I had peace and quiet to do some naughty things before they got back at 9:30. (I also watched some YOU and EAT A CUP OF TEA on Netflix) Dylan's parents are staying overnight from Langley, which is good. Lots of styrofoam from Elysse's new ballerina doll, that's for sure!

After COFFEE TIME, I went out at 6:25 to meet Chrystal at London Drugs at 7; it didn't matter if she was late because I'd technically been late as well, getting to the station at 7:05. After telling her that Original Joe's and Chronic Tacos were both closed, I said we might as well walk along Broadway till we saw something that caught my eye. Yes, I definitely knew she was treating me! I knew there was a Cactus Club around there, and I was correct when we got to Broadway and Ash. We talked about sitting on the patio, her Baja fish tacos (I had one) and my tuna poke bowl, water, her nephew Ethan wanting to hit people thanks to preschool, her baby nephew Benjamin, yesterday's eyeball ultrasound and my parents' idea of an Oakridge "ride," our bad sense of direction, Thanksgiving, my parents' upcoming "Tom and Tom" trip to Minnesota, the Canucks, New Zealand, Australia, Mike T.'s birthday the other day (they all went to eat sushi), their going to SURREY instead of RICHMOND on Sunday (thus how they got lost and went on the wrong exit), the computer / router / computer case stuff on Sunday, my having lamb at Felico's, surprise birthday cards, and therapy.

After dinner, I wanted to also check out the nearby Book Warehouse to get the newest Bathroom Reader #31 if possible since the website said it was in stock, and I did! Uncle John's Actual and Factual Bathroom Reader #31 (Uncle John's Bathroom Reader Annual), baby! I told Chrystal about what had happened last year with the "nearest" post office bullshit before we went our separate ways at the Canada Line station, where I just missed a Brighouse train. At Broadway Station, a businesswoman wanted me to hold the elevator doors for her - instead, she managed to squeeze herself in when the doors were closing. The train wasn't even coming into the station, and the other guy on the elevator seemed to have issues of his own, like wearing sandals outside on a cool evening. Some old guy wanted me to move on the Brighouse bench while I was actively reading - NO, because he could have just walked to the end of the short bench! When I finally got home at 9:30 on a 407, I finally checked my mail to find a funny "Happy Birthday, Tree Killer" birthday card from Steph and Lisa, which included Fraser's and Henry's handprints - NICE! Thank goodness that I had peace and quiet to do what I had to do when I got home!

Later at Oakridge Station, some guy practically threatened to sue me over incidental contact with my bulky reusable bag. This city, I swear. Just because you wanted to get by after maneuvering your bike into the elevator does NOT mean you get ALL THE SPACE EVER! I wasn't even in his way! That wasn't even the first person who had a problem with my reusable bag, as there was some lady on a crowded Canada Line train who said "You're excused" after I entered the train at 49th and got a seat.

When I got to Jon and Harmony's at 2:10, the door was open since it was still pretty hot, so I just got to invade the living space. The kids greeted me with "YOU BREAK IT - YOU FIX IT!" but calmed down and told me that they'd gone to Granville Island today. We heard about a Canada Line emergency - thank goodness that it didn't affect me, only Olympic Village to King Edward! (it did affect Jon coming home from teaching) The skating lesson went fine - I told Harmony that no, I didn't have to pay anything for the eye ultrasound or cataract surgery!

Hiero told me that he didn't like it when I farted - he just likes his own farts. Okay, then! We had pizza, more laksa, blueberries, and corn on the cob for dinner after I read some more Robert Munsch stories. I got to hold a content baby Beckett for a while (and show him a few books) when Jon was finishing up with his piano student Curtis, but the baby started crying almost as soon as Curtis left! (before, I told Curtis to "quick - play some music!" when Beckett started fussing at the start of the lesson) I went through the Translink route map with the kids when Harmony grew tired of it, and left at 7:30, just managing to get a 49 before getting home at 8:10 on a 401. I was NOT waiting 20 minutes in the muggy heat!

After COFFEE TIME, I left at 11:45 on a C94 so I could get some Facebook status tagging backlog done at the library, but was still blocked after an hour. I got out in time to see Rachel at The Caring Place at 2:30. After that, I went to Jon and Harmony's to help with the kids, who were not at the Langara YMCA park. Upon arriving at the house, I learned that the boys thought it was too hot to go out, even though the park would be shaded. I agreed with them!

Baby Beckett seemed more active and slightly fussy even in his bouncy chair - at least I finally got to kiss him on the cheek when Harmony was busy with bathtime! Hiero knows that Mom and Dad are getting old because they take the elevator instead of the stairs, he and Hiero sang "GO AWAY" to Beckett, I read Robert Munsch stories to them, I sang ABC to Beckett, Harmony offered me a printer, and we discussed whether Popsicles and other things had too much sugar. I'm sure Mom wasn't happy that Harmony said no more sugary treats for them, but if it's true that they had chocolate / ice cream / more sugar at lunch today... I just throw them away myself. I got home at 7:50 on a 401, then took a shower.

Random stuff from Mom and Dad: Butter crisps and almond thins (in a purple snowflake box) which expire on August 28, Quality Street chocolates which expire in a week (I'm not eating 3/4 of a huge 725g tin in that time even if I DID like it!), a Laura Secord milk chocolate heart, Santa's Gumball Workshop Dubble Bubble which expire in September 2018, a Ziploc bag full of Chinese coconut candies with an unknown expiry date, Kinder mini-eggs which expire in a week, a purple tube with a heart at the end and liquid inside, "YOU'RE AWESOME" stickers, Runts candy x7, and Frisk mints with an unknown expiry date.

After DOUBLE COFFEE TIME, I left at 2:55 for my dentist appointment with Sean at 3:30. Turns out the extra half hour was to update my X-rays and digital paperless records! I overheard an older guy actually argue with Sean in the waiting room about how he didn't have time to floss or brush his teeth: he wanted to weasel his way out of more frequent appointments, and didn't want to listen to BC dental rules and guidelines. I got on the Canada Line after checking my Royal Bank card balance at Oakridge Mall, but the guy in a wheelchair posed a problem for me when he wouldn't get out at Lansdowne Station, so I walked from there to London Drugs. (the guy with the bike was bad enough at Brighouse AND Oakridge Station on my way to the appointment...)

I checked out London Drugs again since both Sean and the hygienist mentioned Vaseline for my dry lips. Luckily, it was on sale, as were the replacement thin Secret bamboo socks which I was going to buy after payday. (I noticed a hole in a pair yesterday) The sales would not extend until payday, so I bought a 50g tube of Vaseline original petroleum jelly / 600mL of Vaseline intensive care lotion in a yellow bottle (which contains micro-droplets of Vaseline Jelly) / a pair of replacement thin Secret bamboo socks. When I got home at 5:45 on a 407, I prepared blog entries and novel reading for COMPUTERLESS DOOM this weekend. INTO THE WILDERNESS (Sara Donati), FALL OF GIANTS (Ken Follett), HAWAII (James Michener), and LONDON (Edward Rutherfurd) are my choices!

I got a surprise Christmas card in the mail from Karla yesterday, so I had to return the favor while I was out today anyhow! Also got a Snoopy and Woodstock Christmas card with ice cream / Christmas cat / Christmas dog / taco / emoji / hamburger / butterfly / cactus stickers from Mandy (dazzamre), a Two of Swords tarot Christmas card / Twinings Söderte tea x3 (Fruity and Floral) from Katherine (cactus_rs) in Stockholm in Sweden, and a Christmas Hello card / Christmas note / various Australian postcards x 24 [Love The Mornington Peninsula x8 / Australian War Memorial / PAINTERS / National Archives of Australia / Tarkine / DIARY OF A WIMPY KID / Bangarra Dance Theatre / Melbourne Zoo / Best of British / bugs of Melbourne Museum / Hokusai / Mental Health Australia / Princess Highway / Linden Postcard Show / Show Us Your Tattoos / REMOTE ALIGNMENTS at the Mars Gallery / THE FATHER at the Melbourne Theatre Company] from Deanna (endlessblush) in today's mail. Corey said that his parents had moved, so I got the new address from him while we were both online anyway. I totally thought they'd moved to Ontario for a second until I re-read the address! Then I talked to Helen briefly about things, which definitely made me feel better - CLOSURE!

After COFFEE AND ASPIRIN TIME at 2:30, I went out at 3:20 to my dentist appointment with Sean. It went pretty well (he seemed surprised that I was flossing), but I did hear they were moving next year sometime to Fraser and 19th. Not so convenient anymore, but maybe I'll find new haunts over there. Of course we caught up briefly and wished each other a great Christmas / New Year! I went to the post office at Oakridge afterwards - right upstairs by the Photo Express near the elevators - to mail Karla's card, then went to Shoppers since I had time before the next 407. I got some Sour Cream and Bacon Ruffles chips with one of my coupons, plus some brand-new on-sale De Cecco and Catelli pasta: fusilli, rotini, and penne rigate x2 in much more reasonably-sized boxes. I got home at 5:20 and threw away the old pasta to make room for the new.

PRODUCT WARNING: Since I'd found a bone in my Western Family pasta the other evening, I am BANNING IT FROM MY APARTMENT!

It's WORLD MUSHROOM DAY today! :D

I paid my Shaw and hydro bills online after I showered and made some mushroom soup. No time for my pasta specialty if I had to make it to Jon and Harmony's at 12:30 or so on two cups of coffee! I got there at about 12:45 or so, declined lunch, and ate a piece of interesting mango chocolate for dessert instead. I played with the boys and their toy trains and arches, while answering "no" to the question of whether I lived on the Golden Gate Bridge! Eventually, we got going to the Family Centre drop-in with Harmony soon after she got home. I'm sure she would love some quiet time to herself, but that wasn't really an option. We talked about the summer and fall, my eventual birthday dinner, the hot weather, my shorts, chalk drawings, whether I'd stay for dinner, putting stickers on kites, chalk drawings at home being better than a hot playground, physio, and ratatouille / tabouli / spaghetti / THE ANTS GO MARCHING. Youtube videos, Ayler being able to serve himself after I finally got him some dinner because Hiero was having a meltdown, cantaloupe, bathroom time, beans, and emotions being okay.

Once I left at 6, I went to Oakridge Station before figuring out that I didn't have my bus pass, so went straight back to the house. It wasn't there, but it could be at the Physio Centre bathroom. Jon gave me some change for a one-time Compass Card, and Harmony called around for me. I finally got home at 7:40 on a 401, slow jabronies on the train notwithstanding. Get your kids and crap together BEFORE the train pulls into the station, people!

I found out that the freezer might not have been working properly, so I called Hester at 11:25 for some help in that regard. After asking me what the freezer was (???), she said to adjust the number levels on temperature sensor, and to drop her a note later. Since I had to do my laundry after I showered anyway, I decided to combine two second-floor trips into one, and finished the laundry at 2. Hester came by at 3:45 to check stuff, and she said it was okay after adjusting some more things. At least she wasn't rude like she can be!

I think it's amusing that I'm mentioning Teunis and Krista in the same post since they used to go out with each other and are now exes, haha. :D

After MORE COFFEE TIME, I went out at 6:15 to mail Lisa's Twisted Whiskers goldfish in martini birthday card to her at the London Drugs post office. Then I went to the Richmond Centre Dining Terrace food court (eating some food first - vegetable chow mein, mixed vegetables, pepper steak, and slightly spicy Kung Pao chicken from Kung Pao Wok) to meet up briefly with Teunis so to return a Christmas-themed envelope with Teunis's name on it, plus a Percy Jackson and Olympians: The Lightning Thief DVD box. At least, I intended it to be briefer than it was. He brought his wife and child (Rochelle and Heidi) from Burnaby, and we both got closure on what happened in 2011, which is nice. Discussed his not talking to Jasmine anymore (good!), understanding, being stressed out, no online following (which is totally fine), vegetables, his treating me to a mango oolong bubble tea with small pearls from Fair Bee Bubble Tea (I was too fast for him when it came to dinner food!), and my nephews.

We also talked about their Vietnamese food with sauces and shrimp salad rolls, Heidi wanting to give me her used plastic cutlery, his meeting Mike once briefly, our lives now, shaking hands, web design, Heidi's impatience / thinking it was Metrotown with the train for kids / liking all the lights, the Canucks, Vikings, my learning the importance of non-rushed alone time / non-emergencies, and a floor plan of the mall. I got home with leftovers at 8:20 on a 407, which is good because it was still light out. At least he says that it's good to see I'm doing much better, and I can say the same for him as well.

I called Hester at 10:20 AM to see whether I could get laundry tokens (September 23, 2016) at that early hour, and I could. At least this time, she didn't bitch about how "not polite" I was on the phone (I'm not a morning person or very "fake polite" after getting up!), how I was taking "too long" to go up one floor or suggest that I take a set of stairs I never use because they're too far away on my floor yet convenient for her! Her husband Ni gave me the laundry tokens after taking care of an old man, and I counted them out first before going back to my own apartment.

Apparently, there was a lunch at the lards' place today, so it was COFFEE TIME before I left at 10 to do some quick shopping at London Drugs: a new coffee mug, new Glacier Speed Stick deodorant to replace my Speed Stick with Irish Spring deodorant from 7 July 2015, new store brand lemon dish detergent, and a new $5 book about 100 animals for Fraser. Luckily, Steph could pick me up from King Edward station! Lisa was at least a little bit late, but that was okay: she said that Steph's ceremony yesterday was moderately boring, but that was okay. We had congee, macaroni and ham, plus Chinese doughnuts for lunch while talking about Auntie Eva / Auntie Paula / Harmony / Ayler / Hiero / Jon and transit / Stanley / Ben and Erin / Daniel and Michelle / their seeing Melia on Wednesday ("we should have invited your sister!"), Darren C. getting married, childhood photos, the old childhood stove and tiny chairs, booking Mom and Dad's flights online, a small dinosaur, Anita T. getting married, Fraser's naptime, nursing, Uncle Percy almost being 100, Auntie Eileen / Auntie Evie, Uncle Eric, and Fraser crying a lot. He seemed to like the book and held my hand when we were going to the elevator (where I lifted him up to reach the CALL CAR button so he could make it light up), at least! (and said "A-ma" a few times) I got home at 4:25 on a 407, which is good. It seems like Mom and Dad are going to Hong Kong and Japan soon, so GOOD FOR MORE ME TIME. Maybe I'll even make it to church, hahaha.

Random stuff from Mom and Dad: a Dignity funeral home mint, a small knitted black-and-white scarf, a small knitted black-and-white toque, a five-pack of Indomie Mi Goreng stir-fried instant noodles which expires on June 5, two Christmas Mix packs of Coconut / Red Apple / Very Cherry / Green Apple Jelly Belly jellybeans, and a five-pack of Wujiang brand preserved vegetables.

I showered and did laundry today. The repairman came by at 1:40 to install a new stove fan switch, and confirmed that the stove pans were too icky to be cleaned normally. I guess I will have to replace them! I saw Hester by the elevator and after being invited into the outdoor storage room (which is indeed full of junk, including London Drugs shopping carts), she gave me one which is too small, then eventually took back a newer bigger one because my stove pan wasn't broken. The newer one was shinier on the inside AND outside, but she said it was rusty and kind of bent. She thanked me for understanding, and gave me a tip when I asked: that she'd bought them at the Richmond Public Market at a haircut shop (?!) on the second floor. Okay then, I guess I'm going there at some point since I don't exactly trust Easy-Off with that stove pan! (but I might buy it just in case) Not going today, though - that was way too much cheery social interaction for me as an introvert!
