Yesterday, Holly invited me to Steveston Pizza at her place tonight. Nobody was going to have the $850 pizza! ("SEENAY: Medley of tiger prawns, lobster ratatouille, smoked steelhead, Russian Osetra caviar, snowed with Italian white truffles $850") After I showered and had COFFEE TIME, Brian kindly picked me up at the hospital at 7:10 even though the pizza place was way closer to his apartment. We chatted about the expensive pizza (a MOUND of seafood on the order before his?!) and the NHL Draft Pick Lottery Day before getting to Holly's, where I unsuccessfully completed a call to her. She wanted to throw her keys down to us again, but actually answered the door instead once she realized Brian had five pizza boxes.

I said hey to Darryl and Paulo, informing Paulo that the temporary crosswalk was now closed off. He put his head in his hands and said, "I hate it..." Trust me, I understand ANY ranting he has to do on the issue! We all talked about life, Vegas, walking a lot on the LONG Strip blocks, online people, chatrooms, drunkenness, dodgy stuff, seeing family members, work schedules, Holly's new job starting tomorrow, dead people, being a travel agent, working with the general public, and upcoming plans. As usual, I have none. I did almost forget my jacket, oops. Darryl called me by name when we said bye to him outside, which shouldn't really be a surprise. Brian dropped me and Paulo off at about 9:40, which is pretty good. I actually have time to blog without being rushed off to do other things!

GREAT - I JUST GOT A BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH, ACCOMPANIED BY A HORRIBLE NOISE!

Holly mentioned that she was near me this morning for an interview at WorkSafe BC, so I noted the proximity. She asked if I wanted to do lunch, so after checking in with myself, I said yes. I finally left the house at 12 or so. Turns out she saw me at the 401 bus stop at Alderbridge, so we waited together and chatted about her interview, the questions, and how my morning was. Yup, Jimbo would have something to say about a certain person being invited to our chat when he gets back - we should have put it to a vote!

We finally made it to Edo Japan at the Richmond Centre food court, where I had a chicken chop chop bowl and she had some boring cucumber sushi. Talked about Brian, Jeremy, Darryl, Paulo taking a mental health break and needing to talk to someone, rage-quitting, Bath and Body Works, our birthdays, Chinese Eric's lupus, the chat, going to H and M later so I could convince her to get the cute and fun HOLY MOLY GUACAMOLE! thin sweater she'd seen earlier while killing time, encouragement of certain thoughts, a Froshberg Gelato ice cream (her treat - I got Nutella and White Chocolate and she got Pistachio), plus maybe going to the Steveston Canada Day festivities / Cherry Blossom Festival in the summer. When she found out that the next 401 would be in 16 minutes at Brighouse, she said that she was glad to wait for my bus with me, otherwise I'd be bored. No, I had my book and my thoughts! Turns out she did know Bryce Courtenay as a famous Australian writer from back home, but didn't know he'd been born in South Africa. I got home at 2, and was exhausted and drained. NO MORE GOING OUT FOR ME ANYTIME SOON!

After COFFEE TIME, Eric Ho called to confirm the time he was coming over to watch a lot of hockey, so I had to take a shower! I had the parking pass, bottled water, the Lindt caramel Easter eggs, Lindt Blueberries and Cream / Strawberries and Cream / Milk and White Spring Edition chocolate truffles, the Russell Stover praline chocolates assortment, the Laura Secord peanut-free chocolate assortment, and the Kit-Kat Senses hazelnut chocolate assortment ready for him in a huge Ziploc bag, plus smaller ones as appropriate. That was in a Price Smart plastic bag since I also had Ferrero Rocher hazelnut Easter eggs and Easter Egg Oreo cookies for him. Yes, of course we could have Deb's frozen Great Value All-Beef meat lasagna for dinner, plus a lot of snacks! I also got him to help open my eyedrops and buy me some heavy bottled water (a 24-pack for the rounded-down price of $5) while he was out anyway, and all I had to do was text him my Price Smart card number and address. Phew!

He got here at 3:25 and quickly settled in to watch some Blue Jays baseball. Yes, he definitely thanked me for all the stuff mentioned above! We talked about Korean LEAGUE OF LEGENDS players, always being online, Steph, the Habs and the playoffs, ARE YOU SHUTTING ME?, the Mi Goreng chips (which he thinks are "wicked"), Winnipeg Jets playing the Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators playing the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Canadian dollar falling. Also spoke on Jim Hughson, CBC After Hours (Markstrom / Josh Leivo / Tyler Seguin), Sportspage, Sportsnet Pacific, ownership, excitement, my being able to text him at any time for things like heavy bottled water, Facebook tagging (which he's cool with), my online hockey fan friends (don't remind me of Jimmy...), Quinn Hughes, April Fool's Day (ugh), and opening the living room window. I'm well aware that he thinks my apartment is too warm!

Conversed about the ENDLESS CONSTRUCTION ZONE and closures around here, Google, pay-per-view Canucks games, Hockey Night in Canada / Hockey Day in Canada, the Whitecaps soccer game and the origins of the Southsiders nickname, long-range planning for his birthday (a Thursday - he enjoyed hanging out with me and white Eric last year at Boston Pizza) and Christon's wedding at the Blundell Church / the nearby Kirin, and HOCKEYVILLE. Discussed my new Reddit friends, his lupus making him overheat easily (he's already transitioned to a Toronto Blue Jays T-shirt and wondered if my DRAGON HOODIE was too hot for me - NOPE!), the Korean BBQ chips, the Salsitas, his ranting, bumping into "whoever" (Mike - don't be so vague!), Trudeau, "injury time / stoppage time" in soccer (where they add on time to the game based on injury recovery time DURING the game - can't imagine that in hockey or football), the old days going to Nathan's basement, "ineptitude" being a "big word" for 9:35 at night, his doing the dishes, and his liking to hang out with me. The Canucks played the Stars at 7 tonight... the game went to overtime plus a shootout, and Vancouver won 3-2! At least Eric Ho could go home happy, but he didn't like that the shootout went so long because he has to work tomorrow.

I like these hangouts from the point of view of updated blogging and not having to wait till I go home to start. YAY! Now I just need to relax from constant talking and vagueness!

Most rounds in an NHL shootout: 20?! Most hockey OT periods ever: Eight in the Norwegian League, surpassing the 1936 NHL record of six?!

Brian picked me up at about 9 last night from the hospital's main entrance, but I had to take a gigantic huge detour because the construction had blocked off the sidewalks right by my place AGAIN! (going through the parking lot and then find the sidewalk by the pharmacy and then cross THREE crosswalks to get to the hospital) He had joked that it would be like Little Iraq trying to get to my place, and this was about right. The chill get-together was for Paulo's 27th birthday, so of course I was going to come out and meet him. Things were fine until we tried finding Fremlin, but I eventually called Holly (who doesn't have a buzzer system or an elevator in her apartment building?!) when Brian eventually found it. She said that she was going to throw her keys down to us, probably because she was tired of going up and down the stairs for everyone else!

When Brian finally figured out the front door lock (the one in my building is recalcitrant as well), we went upstairs to Holly's suite. We met Paulo, and said hi to Holly and Darryl. Talked about bartending, gin and tonic, red wine, beers, smoking (always someone's choice), travel (Jordan and Egypt and Australia), the leftover pizza with pepperoni and sausage, online people in the other Discord server, Gastown, awful dates, hyphenated names, feminism, the 407, friends being in abusive relationships, weird names like Jesus Condom, the closed sidewalks around my place, (looking for) work, Long Island Iced Teas, (video) interviews, San Francisco, Montreal, fudge Oreos, and my Korean BBQ Kettle chips. Of course I let Holly keep them! Turns out that Paulo lives two minutes from me, which is always good just in case. I let Brian drop me off at Birchwood instead of Dogwood, but I was still with it enough to figure out where I was since things looked different. Got in at midnight, which is fine. Good times with FREEDOM!

I got to voice call Helen Y. yesterday via Facebook Messenger - SO GOOD TO HEAR THE OTHER'S VOICE! Diane also re-friended me... okay, then! I also finally deleted all the Video Game Enemies albums on Facebook! They were fun at the time, but trying to redo them because various pages have gone bye-bye is just too exhausting... 39 albums and 4738 pics! The Canucks played Colorado at 7 tonight, and the crazy game went to overtime! VANCOUVER WON 7-6! FIVE POINTS FOR PETTERSEN!

From my ex-friend Jimmy and Perda De Tempo: "Damn, that's a huge tongue you got there. I suppose you are that Venom guy." "Yeeeeeessss.... Hey, what are you doing?" "Giving you the opportunity to become a hero."

glowing_dragon: (Vancouver Canucks hockey!)
"Bob Bobberchuk" added me to Facebook - okay, then! I went to London Drugs again at 4 on a 407 (managing to just get the bus) to mail a note to Jimmy... only $1.26! Also bought on-sale Pacari organic chocolate bars x6: Raw 100% Cacao (orange), Passion Fruit (yellow), 60% Cacao Esmeraldas (pink), Andean Rose (red), Lemongrass (green), Raw 70% Cacao (yellow-green) - $3 each for a 50g bar! Oh well...

I also got NEW on-sale Dare Cookie Dough Whippets which expire on October 30, NEW Oreo Chocolate and Peanut Butter Pie cookies which expire on February 27, 2019 / NEW Oreo Cookies Pistachio Creme Thins cookies which expire on December 2 for National Cookie Month in October, an orange replacement $2 MARTEX washcloth, Palmolive Oxy Power Degreaser dish detergent, Hilroy Press-It-Seal-It envelopes (both white and security envelopes), NEW on-sale Tic Tac Gum x3 (Fresh Mint / Spearmint / Watermelon), and NEW London Naturals Wild Orange plant-based all-purpose cleaner. Got home at 5:05 on a 407, and had lots of peace and quiet. I needed it to edit past entries, grab food photos from Google, and upload them! The Canucks played the Bruins at 7 tonight; the game went to overtime, and the Canucks won 2-1 against the nasty Bruins! BO HORVAT!

Yesterday, I got banned from a names Facebook group because I "misgendeered" the newest admin. Not my fault that her name is ASH and she has a female in her display picture; if she wants random people to think that she's a male, that is very misleading! Then I got into it with Natalie (chibi_blackie / missblack / andinclosing), who thinks she "won" by "dragging" / roasting me. Nope! I deleted her comments because she was being condescending and talking down to me. It's almost like she doesn't realize that we're from different generations! I had to block her once she made a proud status about how I was deleting her comments because they made me look bad. Very funny, ha ha ha. At least I don't use slang that's not from my generation, and Lena / Mike T. / Vanessa / Julie supported me!

Chinese Eric and white Eric had both emailed me this morning. Eric H. is still up for his birthday hangout at Boston Pizza this Saturday the 18th around 1 PM for the BC Lions game, and Eric M. said that Boston Pizza was better than Italian Tomato for hanging around for three hours to watch the game.

A Muppets / Kermit the Frog reference in the FINAL FANTASY V ADVANCE town of Walse. "It's easy being green, dig?" That reminded me of Jimmy when I used to talk to him. He was always saying, "you dig?"

I got two new homemade soaps, a brief note thanking me for my online Twitch support, and a Ness from Earthbound perler from Cuya in the mail yesterday - NICE! I discovered SURPRISE REDRUM this morning - UGH! Good thing I already had a pad in from yesterday's crap! So then I had to go to London Drugs AGAIN to get some much-needed bulk pads, which I should have just done yesterday while I was there anyway... sigh.

Then I had to walk to the bank to get a NEW chip-enabled debit card since the magnetic strip didn't work, and then return the Winter Creek oysters at Price Smart since I forgot that I'd banned it because I couldn't open them even with the jar opener! No, I didn't care that they couldn't resell it! The customer service worker was named Gunya - WTF?! I simply got easier-to-open and less expensive on-sale Mac's Oysters as a replacement (no more less expensive Fanny Bay oysters!), while deciding "fuck this lineup at the express lane" and going to self-checkout instead.

While I was there, I went to the liquor store to get NEW limited-edition Innis and Gunn Mangoes on the Run mango IPA / NEW Hires Cream Soda and Vodka / NEW limited-edition Snapple Spiked RaspCherry Tea Vodka. (the sale on the Snapple ends today!) Got home at 11:05 on a 407 to unload and rest a bit before going out again. While I was not feeling too terrible, I went to Richmond Centre at 2:35 on a 401 for some new shorts since an old pair met with a poop accident.

H and M did not have what I was looking for, and neither did Sportscheck with their Underarmour shorts. I went into Champs, where I lucked into a 2 for 1 sale on shorts, so of course I took advantage of it, buying two pairs of CSG Black Advancer shorts for $38.08! Then I remembered to check out Shoppers for a frozen Pad Thai meal, which they had, and it was even on sale for $3! Finally got home at 4:30 on a 401, deciding not to wait for the 407 in the hot weather with the frozen meal. Then I emailed Chinese Eric to see if we could hang out for his birthday on August 15!

I talked to Jimmy and Helen this morning about Tommy since Helen is seriously thinking of blocking Tommy. Helen was very surprised when I told her exactly what Tommy had called me, and told him that she had no time for his childish behavior. EXACTLY! Apparently, Jimmy and Helen are going to be at the same game at some point - good for them! Kate is also going to help me with the rodents on Monday, apparently - NICE!

"A great way to lose friendships and you've slammed my [FICTIONAL] sweetie and Southerners," indeed... then she blocked me on Discord and probably Disqus as well. Whatever! She was going on and on about cryptocurrency lately, which is pretty boring to me anyway. What an overreaction! The Canucks played the Stars at 1 today, and WON 6-0!

I went to the pharmacy next door at 11:30 for MORE DRUGS to be picked up tomorrow! After (MORE) COFFEE TIME, I left at 2:55 to make it to Jon's at 3:30. I saw Grace Tang before I stopped by Kam Do Bakery to buy a shredded pork bun. When I got to the house, Hiero just stared out the window at me until Jon opened the door, and I saw that his student was already there. Ayler and Harmony were sleeping in the back room because they were sick, and I soon found out why Hiero had just stared at me - he was coughing and sniffly, too! Both kids had stayed home from school today, and maybe tomorrow too. I'd read some email about cardigans from Mom an hour before I got to the house, and Jon managed to find the bag before he got back to teaching. I didn't expect Hiero to show a lot of excitement over his new Mega Blocks and cupcake birthday card with a ton of stickers, but he managed to muster up some level of acknowledgement, which is fine by me. "When can I open it?" "I guess when your mom and dad say you can." "STICKERS!" "Yeah, just don't put them all over the floor in five minutes like you did the other day." (that was still on the floor...)

I just did a lot of reading out loud to Hiero from a bunch of different books, and didn't mind doing two rounds of dishes. Ayler smiled at me when he emerged from the back room, which I returned. He said he was feeling dopey, which is understandable. I said that sweet things weren't the best for you when you were sick, but he had a bit of vegan ice cream with his bread pudding (as I'd had - plus, I had borscht with sausage) and pozole. When Jon and Harmony were out of the room, I said that I'd wanted chocolate from my fridge the last time I was sick, but didn't feel like eating it at all. I left the house after 7:40, noting that Ayler was actually staying up a little, but he would probably go back to bed soon afterward. Got home at 8:55 on a 407, which is fine by me.

From Julie M. and Grammarly: "I love how the Internet has improved people's grammar far more than any English teacher has. If you write YOUR instead of YOU'RE in English class, all you get is a red mark. Mess up on the Internet, and may God have mercy on your soul." - Unknown

From Rotten Ecards: It's too bad your sarcastic comment was completely ruined by your inability to use correct grammar.

Birthday 2017 (5)

* card from parents

* Steph, Lisa, Fraser, Henry, and Havarti: "Sarne! Happy 41st birthday from your loving sister, sister-in-law, and FAVORITE nephews! (Haha! We know it even if you don't say it!) Love from Hamilton. See you in November! Steph, Lisa, Fraser, Henry, and Havarti."

* card from Pathways

* Christon: "Happy Birthday, Leslie! I know this card makes fun of our age, but I have realized how long we have known each other, and despite all the different turns of events in our lives, we have been able to keep in touch through birthdays of friends and our own, so that has been pretty cool! Enjoy another year with good friends and food. I pray that this year be a good one for you! Cheers! Christon."

* Eric M.: "Happy 41st Birthday, Leslie. Hope you have a good year to come. The rides to and from church aren't as interesting without you on board ready to disembark at No. 4 Rd. and Alderbridge Way. Chrystal emailed me this morning to say that she'll actually be out of town for the next two weeks and would love to meet up with me after getting back on the 20th, so that still totally works for me even if she understandably can't do the 14th! Vanessa came by from Langley before her Richmond appointments so we could exchange stuff. I gave her a Christmas card / Eric Ho's Jersey Milk chocolate bar / Advent calendar so I could get some of her homemade chocolate peanut Eat More bars since she can't have too much sugar these days. She got here at 12:20, and we spent half an hour chatting because I got back in at 12:50. Talked about Jason, his mom, his cousin, amniotic fluid, karma, Jon and Harmony's current living situation, Ayler, the stigma around girls, Krista thinking that everyone is out to get her / ignoring the signs of abuse from her exes Andrew and Ryan (DON'T WAIT AROUND FOR THEM TO CHANGE EVEN IF THEY WANT TO!), autism, a Steveston mail truck not looking out for her, that Eastern Conference hockey chat, Jimmy and his "must not be fatter than me" dealbreaker, (water) weight, January plans, maternity leave, Richmond drivers, my periods, her NOT making any more Thanksgiving dinners for SOME PEOPLE, and it being cold today. Good to catch up at least!

From Reddit on June 25, 2016: "We've been dating for a long time - FOUR MONTHS!" Oh, 19-year-olds... Sarcasam_Is_King can't even spell "sarcasm" correctly!

From Reddit on March 18, 2016: When people use expressions like "you go, girl" to her, WandMirk probably shouldn't take it so personally. She says she's not a girl even if her body doesn't produce most hormones. It says something that I misread her username as WANDA MIRK. Special snowflake right there! Not because of her body, but because of how she reacts to a normal expression.

Steph let me know that their Christmas card and stickers arrived in the mail today, so that's great! I left at 3:45 to make it to Jon's by 4:30. Knocking on the door since I heard noise from inside, I heard Hiero wonder if it was me. I said yes, Hiero laughed, and Ayler opened the door to me. Hiero said, "Goo-Mah! I KNOW YOU! HAHAHAHA!" Nice! Jon returned the Bible to me (and gave me a black Rampage wallet and some Doritos jalapeno and cheddar chips in a Safeway bag - which expire TOMORROW?! - from Mom), so I simply dropped it off at the Langara Canada Line station when I left their place after a dinner of leftover Chinese food from yesterday's dinner for baby Naomi (Myles' kid and their new cousin - born in early September), and leftover pie / cornbread from Saturday's dinner. Apparently, it was party central this past weekend! Ayler wanted to show me the proper way to draw a star because his teacher had taught him that one-line star, but I can never do those properly. He also wanted to take my Santa hat and wear it (and was successful), even though I said that baby Henry was the only one allowed to wear it, because I don't trust anyone else to just wear the hat without being impish! Ayler also wondered whether certain dates were valid in his perpetual calendar with a tree on it - some were, and some weren't. He knew his own birthday, too!

Hiero wanted me to stay longer, which involves sleeping in his crib. I don't think so! Ayler was also excited about being the special helper (which goes by alphabetical order) in kindergarten tomorrow, telling me that he has to be at school at 8:45 then, and the bell rings at 8:55 and at 12 and sometimes at 3. He also wondered when he'd graduate from his school - not for a while! He also recited the alphabet and said they were writing K tomorrow; when he said "KKK," I briefly wondered what they were teaching kids these days. Then there was a song called MITTENS AND GLOVES. The kids wanted to be very tall, as tall as the ceiling; of course I had to tell them that Robert Pershing Wadlow (the tallest man ever) was more than eight feet tall! Ayler said that he had a friend named Tess at kindergarten (who had a birthday party on Saturday), and someone named Livia, who was different than the Olivia from preschool. Hiero says he plays with garbage trucks at preschool - super!

When Hiero asked why I was cleaning up the puzzle pieces in the back room, I was honest and said that I wasn't in the mood to pick up 200 puzzle pieces again if they wanted to play with it once more. Apparently, Myles got them that solar system puzzle - good times. Ayler wanted to draw on his brother's crib - no, not a good idea! Then he wanted to draw on the floor, then said that it was Uncle Vincent's floor when I reminded him that he probably shouldn't do that. Ah yes, the landlord! At least I got them to draw on the one sheet of memo pad paper that I took into the room along with the toys. Lots of "barns" (I thought Hiero was saying "bombs") and other things were made with the scientific balls and rods! They kept asking why there were sometimes two to four chocolates in an Advent Calendar square, but received an explanation that sometimes it just slides around inside.

Jon's first student (before Randal) was that guy Jeff, whom I had met at least once. When Jon said that the kids might not remember him, I said that one of them had told me that the student was Jeff. Harmony came home after work and adjusted Hiero's buckles - yes, I know Jon technically can't do it since he's teaching, but I never could figure those things out in the first place. I got home at 7:35 on a 407 after having left the house at maybe 6:45 or so, using the open gate to get out and avoid that treacherous step. Woo! I also muted that Eastern Conference Facebook chat with Helen, Jimmy, Tommy, and a bunch of other people indefinitely yesterday, so that'll be good for my sanity as well.

After COFFEE TIME at 4:45, I left at 6:30 to meet Chrystal at the Broadway London Drugs at 7-ish for a belated birthday dinner treat! I had her Want Want Snowy Crackers from Big Crazy, of course. I was standing around reading MAD MAGAZINE when Chrystal came up behind me. We summarily went to Original Joe's after she said that I could pick anywhere I wanted because it was her treat, and we waited about 20 minutes, "sharing" a table with two other guys. She had a burger with dill sauce and fries (which I ate - plus the pickle from the burger), and I had steak and salmon bites with vegetables instead of rice because that would take too long. We talked about her nephew Ethan liking water / numbers / Science World, and definitely knowing what he (doesn't) want, and calling Chrystal "Yee Ma" / not hugging Auntie Kathy after he says he will. I told her about Ayler and Hiero both wanting to hug me - and going through with it - and the Thanksgiving dinner recently. Yup, Jon and Harmony really need a place to live, and my parents are travelling AGAIN. The waitress apparently loved my "warm" red sweater from Sears, so I definitely let her touch it, haha! COMPLIMENTS!

Chrystal's going to take two weeks off at the beginning of December, and it sounds like she really needs it! I said I'd call her at the end of November to set something up since that made sense to me! I wondered whether she'd thought about living on her own, and people have definitely asked her that before! Not that there's anything wrong with living with her parents, of course! We talked about Christmas cards being on sale at London Drugs already, THE AMAZING RACE CANADA, just watching TV when she should go to bed way before 2 when she has to work at 9, the MEGA SUSHI dinner, a new Chipotle opening up around that area soon, her sleeping in and "wasting" her weekend mornings, Emily / Mike, Phil and Grace's baby girl, and not going to church as much. When we had to leave (after I exchanged a bent fork for a new one, and after thanking Chrystal for the dinner), I wanted the guys beside us at another table to make way, but got into a conversation with one of the (brown-haired / scruffy-ish) guys about Bo Horvat / Reddit / my looking 21 / Donald Trump / his jokingly blaming me for his not getting a burger anytime soon. I even touched him on his shoulder and arm, which is pretty good for me, all things considered! I got home at 10, and then proceeded to blow people's minds in the r/hockey Discord when I revealed that I'd been alive in 1991! (context: going to the West Edmonton Mall)

I noticed that Eric Ho had tried calling me yesterday when I was out, so I called him back at 11:50 AM. He answered the phone, and said that he just wanted to let me know - AFTER THE FACT! - that he'd tried sending me an email on Saturday to say that he couldn't make it, and had noticed that I'd called him at 6:40 that evening. Ah yes, his email problems had cropped up again! He wanted to get together this Saturday for the Calgary game at 7 instead, so he'll call me after he gets off work that day. Sure, why not? That sounds good!
