COFFEE TIME! The Canucks played the Stars at 4 today... the game went into overtime and a shootout after Vancouver gave up ANOTHER 2-0 lead. At least the Canucks WON 3-2 this time!

A leprechaun with green beer and four-leaf clovers: Happy St. Patrick's Day!

From FML: Today, I fell asleep in class. As a joke, my professor used an airhorn to wake me up. I got so freaked out that I punched the girl next to me in the face. She got knocked out. FML. (THIS is why Andrew M. should NOT use airhorns!)

From Julie: Kiss me, I'm Highrish! Nice green T-shirt for St. Patrick's Day or 420!

Brian picked me up at about 9 last night from the hospital's main entrance, but I had to take a gigantic huge detour because the construction had blocked off the sidewalks right by my place AGAIN! (going through the parking lot and then find the sidewalk by the pharmacy and then cross THREE crosswalks to get to the hospital) He had joked that it would be like Little Iraq trying to get to my place, and this was about right. The chill get-together was for Paulo's 27th birthday, so of course I was going to come out and meet him. Things were fine until we tried finding Fremlin, but I eventually called Holly (who doesn't have a buzzer system or an elevator in her apartment building?!) when Brian eventually found it. She said that she was going to throw her keys down to us, probably because she was tired of going up and down the stairs for everyone else!

When Brian finally figured out the front door lock (the one in my building is recalcitrant as well), we went upstairs to Holly's suite. We met Paulo, and said hi to Holly and Darryl. Talked about bartending, gin and tonic, red wine, beers, smoking (always someone's choice), travel (Jordan and Egypt and Australia), the leftover pizza with pepperoni and sausage, online people in the other Discord server, Gastown, awful dates, hyphenated names, feminism, the 407, friends being in abusive relationships, weird names like Jesus Condom, the closed sidewalks around my place, (looking for) work, Long Island Iced Teas, (video) interviews, San Francisco, Montreal, fudge Oreos, and my Korean BBQ Kettle chips. Of course I let Holly keep them! Turns out that Paulo lives two minutes from me, which is always good just in case. I let Brian drop me off at Birchwood instead of Dogwood, but I was still with it enough to figure out where I was since things looked different. Got in at midnight, which is fine. Good times with FREEDOM!

Yesterday, I called Chinese Eric to see if he could give me a ride to Jeremy's or back home. He called me back on his lunch break (at 1:20 BEFORE I left to see Rachel), and he was planning to take transit to work at the Art Gallery and then go straight to Jeremy's. I hoped Kevin could drive me to Broadway Station again since white Eric can't make it because of his hockey commitments! I had to leave really early for Jeremy's place because I had to walk to Brighouse station - thanks, endless sewer upgrades and construction! Luckily, I found an in-service bus stop at Alderbridge, so I killed time at Shoppers, buying Korean BBQ Kettle Chips x3 and some Nair. FUCKING JIMMY! Got to Dude Chilling Park at 6:10, which was slightly early. Kingsgate Mall was closing, too.

I met up with Jeremy (so we could all see his new flooring / baseboards and test some marbles on it), Christon, Kevin, Chinese Eric, and Randal. Christon made some pulled pork, chicken and coleslaw. We had my Indomie Mi Goreng chips / various beers (like the cocoa / vanilla Winter Ale) / salsa / Que Pasa chips, called Eric Ho to see where he was, figured out the long wifi password (which Jeremy didn't think much of at first - but then realized he'd never seen me with a smartphone before), discussed my eye surgeries and Jeremy's nose surgery / Huawei / the Rugby Sevens / Uniqlo / Muji / Daiso / real estate / wedding planning / people with 4400 to 5000 Facebook friends, the Lucky Charms Saturday Morning beer for St. Patrick's Day, and waited for Jon to get there even later. I wanted to go home at 10, but nope - I had to wait for 45 more minutes, despite Chinese Eric wanting to head home right after the game ended at 9:30!

Jeremy loved the blurb for the Lucky Charms beer and laughed at it, at least! Kevin did indeed drive me to Broadway Station, while Jon and Chinese Eric got rides back home from Randal. Yeah, that wasn't too bad. I ended up getting home at around midnight on a 401 (passing up a 407 at Brighouse), and was surprised that I was still somewhat awake, since I'd gone to bed at 9:45 yesterday. I did make myself some hot chocolate to warm up from the cold weather. The Canucks played the Knights at 7 tonight, and lost 6-2. Not good if it was 5-1 at the end of the first... 3-0 after the first twelve minutes!

EDIT: Kate left a post on my Facebook wall asking if I wanted to three-way call with Pothead Mike; OF COURSE I DID! I sent her my number and we were on a roll after that. Mike said it was good to hear my voice, and we talked about Scary Mysteries / Damarys (Mike's impressed with how I'm dealing with it) / the weather where we were / kids swearing / Ed Kemper / Ed Gein / Jackie / 99fruitbat / uploads / the Surrey transit cop shooting / the RCMP tank / how Kate and I did not say "ABOOT." That was pretty good!

I called Barry at 8:50 to let him know about the dead mouse. When he called me back at 11 to say that he would be here in a couple of minutes, I checked the corner with the TV since I'd heard noise there as well last night. Yup, there was another dead mouse, this one in a glue trap. Good thing I checked, since Barry was here at 11:10 to remove them!

Steph said that Fraser loves the assorted emoji stickers. "Look, Mama, a poo!"

He loves all the assorted options!

From Reddit on Nov. 26, 2018: No, RupertOffy, liking someone's profile photo on Facebook is NOT even vaguely political, and there's no such thing as being used as a social weapon at school... if you mean "bullying," say so like normal people do!

Menu for tonight:

Tortilla chips with salsa verde and salsa rojo
Chicken Tortilla soup
Jicama Salad (vegetarian)
Mole Colaradito Enchiladas (vegetarian)
Agua de Jamaica (zero proof)

After DOUBLE COFFEE TIME, I left at 2:45 on a 401 for Jeremy's. I had the on-sale Brookside Chocolate bars x2 (Roasted Almond and Sea Salt / Cranberry Almond with Blood Orange Flavor) and the four NHL 100 Advent calendars / Waterbridge Belgian chocolate seashells for Jon, plus the Terry's Chocolate Orange / NHL 100 Advent calendar / Waterbridge Belgian chocolate seashells for Eric Ho. Maybe HE could drive me home, haha! It turned out he couldn't since he'd driven downtown because he wouldn't be able to get much parking! I killed 45 minutes at Kingsgate Mall, but got to Jeremy's at 4. Ayler picked up, but wouldn't buzz me into the building for some reason. I tried four times after that, and LUCKILY, Jeremy's neighbors were exiting the building and let me in! (possibly because they saw I was actively trying to be buzzed in) Later, we found out that the kids had left the phone off the hook for half an hour! UGH!

I settled in by Harmony, saying hi to her and baby Beckett, who held my finger and burbled at me. Ayler and Hiero wanted to do THUMB WAR and STELLA STELLA OLA, but I was fine with watching them (and the Rubik's Cube) instead. I read a MR. MEN book to them, plus a book on frogs and one on animal tracks and Curious George. When everyone got there, I managed to get a ride to Broadway Station from Kevin later on. Talked to Randal, SERVANTS friends (Rudy?), Christon, Dilys, Alice, Jesse, Trish, Caleb, Becky, and others about Crown Royal Black whiskey, condos, townhouses, toilets, sanitation, history, vacation, the Christmas holidays, beer, the food, white Eric, Chinese Eric, Condoleeza Rice and the Cleveland Browns, women and guns, chimeras / DNA / transgender people, Uncle Stanley's colon cancer (but he is positive about it), and more. Kevin drove me near Broadway Station at 8:50 in the freezing weather, and I got home at 9:50 on a 407. Phew!
glowing_dragon: (Bubble Tea)
After MORE COFFEE TIME, I left just before 4:30 to make it to Wo's: A family dinner for Dad's 69th birthday! Of course I was the first one there! (and I saw Mr. Creep on the bus AGAIN...) Harmony set a new record in convincing the Wo's owner to turn off the TV, which was tuned to the Cartoon Network: SEVEN MINUTES! We talked about strata meetings, moving on Thursday, Burnaby, the lards' car leaking oil, Uncle William, plans for this week, the farmer's market, snacks, dessert, finding my Fit-Overs (which I just found within two minutes of looking for them), Beckett sleeping, Ayler and Hiero asking about candy and the time, me being drunk / red-faced / snorty / giggly on the beer which Jon bought, and Quality Street chocolates. I got home at 8 on a 407, no thanks to just missing the previous 407 at Brighouse! Mom thought I needed to be told to look both ways before crossing the street at Marine Drive Station - I wasn't THAT drunk! Jon wants me to come over on Tuesday for dinner help - after Rachel, for sure.

Dinner: Steamed chicken, sweet and sour pork, green beans and ground beef, cod fish, tofu cakes, corn soup, lamb, Bring-Your-Own-Beer (Andina Guava Saison 6.5%), rice, and tea!

Random stuff from Mom and Dad: Instant oxtail soup mix x3 (expiry date: July 18, 2019) / a triple-zippered leopard print Sport Sport wallet / chicken noodle Lipton Cup-A-Soup which expired on June 13, 2014 / spring vegetable Lipton Cup-A-Soup which expired on May 30, 2013 / spring vegetable Lipton Cup-A-Soup which expired on February 9, 2012 / a nearly full bag of McCormicks cinnamon hearts / a bag of Nosh and Co. Jackie M. added me to Facebook via Discord and Youtube, so YAY FOR THAT! I went to London Drugs at 1:30 on a 407 to get a TouchTop garbage can for my living room, on-sale store brand peanut butter, an Easter card and emoji stickers for Fraser and Henry, Alter Eco chocolate bars so I could try them for myself (Salt and Malt / Brown Butter / Burnt Caramel / Blackout), Godiva Dark Chocolate Lava Cake truffles, a Whittaker's Artisan Hawke's Bay Black Doris Plum and Roasted Almonds chocolate bar, a Whittaker's Artisan Fijian Ginger and Kerikeri Mandarin chocolate bar, a Whittaker's Artisan Nelson Pear and Manuka Honey chocolate bar, a Whittaker's Artisan Hawke's Bay Braeburn Apple and Vanilla chocolate bar, a Whittaker's Artisan Marlborough Sea Salt and Caramel Brittle chocolate bar, a Green and Black's Dark Chocolate with Peppermint Oil chocolate bar, a Lindt strawberry chocolate bar / a Lindt blackcurrant chocolate bar for Chrystal's birthday, a Ghirardelli Cabernet Matinee chocolate bar, a Ghirardelli Raspberry Radiance chocolate bar, and a Ghirardelli Cherry Tango chocolate bar. Got home at 2:30 on a 407, which is fine. The Canucks played San Jose at 7 tonight, and lost 5-3, the Sharks getting an empty-net goal.

I left for baby Henry's 100 Day-ish celebration at Western Lake Restaurant at 4 today. I thought that was early, but considering that I had to wait a bit for the 33 bus to 29th Avenue across the street from King Edward Station, that was okay. Thank goodness that Victoria is a major street! When I got to the restaurant, most people were there already, but whatever. I got to sit at a table with Fraser, Lisa, Harmony, Ayler, Hiero, and Steph's trainer plus her family. Of course I said hi to Melia (I didn't know she worked in the Minoru area!), Angus, Dawn, Eni, Michelle, Daniel, Denise, Margaret, Eunice (who hugged me hello), Chelsea (who hugged me goodbye), her husband Nick, Auntie Christine, Uncle Reuben, Uncle Y.C., Auntie Catherine, Auntie May, Auntie Eva, Auntie Gloria, and Uncle Richard! I managed to put my oversized Santa hat on Henry before eating, haha.

We had a ten-course Chinese meal... SO FULL on fish, veggies (pea tips / carrots / broccoli), shrimp, lettuce wraps, duck meat soup (or whatever replaced shark fin soup), crispy duck, chicken, crab, rice, and tapioca dessert! Fraser was distracted by my bling-bling sweater, for which Lisa blessed me. He named all the colors correctly! Hiero said "no" to the question of whether I was a girl, so I guess I'm a boy by default. Could be worse! Harmony offered to drop me off at a Canada Line station later, so I accepted. She also told me to watch Ayler while she took Hiero to the washroom, but he was all preoccupied with counting the squares on a pillar anyway, so I didn't really need to. Of course I said bye to Steph, Lisa, Fraser, and Henry before leaving! Ayler said that SOMETHING was hurting after being buckled into his carseat... good to know, haha. Thanks to Harmony dropping me off half a block from Oakridge Mall with my leftovers, I got home at 8:05 on a 407 which I only had to wait a few minutes for at Brighouse. The Canucks played St. Louis at 7 tonight. I got home when it was the second period, and the game went to overtime, where Vancouver lost 4-3.

This morning, it was time to put my shorts away and put another blanket on the bed. Then Jon decided to act like an entitled person, thinking that I could just bus to Commercial Drive from Richmond on my birthday, and threatening me that the kids wouldn't be there if I insisted that the dinner be at 6. Like, do they bug and bully and manipulate Harmony's side of the family into starting dinners at that early hour?! I'm about to cancel this whole idea of a "family" birthday dinner!

Since I was up at 8:20 AM, it was COFFEE TIME BY DEFAULT! Later, Lucas thought that I was bullying Maddie because I've taken to using the word "sriracha" around her since her Discord screen name is "Maddie the Jirachi." Not my fault that they sound similar! They're both special snowflake teenagers! So then he banned me from his Discord server partly because he thinks that my bringing up the age difference is "pretentious" - hey, it's definitely not my fault that their 18-year-old brains haven't fully developed yet! Later, Alexandra FINALLY broke up with him for not telling her what was going on with him, and I let her know that he seemed controlling and narcissistic as well. I showered tonight.
