COFFEE TIME! The Canucks played the Ducks today at 2, and lost 5-1, relinquishing first place in the Pacific Division. NOT A GOOD END TO SEDIN WEEK!

From Julie and Anorak UK: The Glory Hole Church?! Knobs and Knockers?!

From Julie and a game show called COMMON KNOWLEDGE: Noushi?! Reminds me of sushi - yummy!

The Canucks played Chicago tonight at 7:30, and won 3-0. They even got an empty-netter! It was the Sedin jersey retirement game! The ceremony was awesome - John Shorthouse, Dave Nonis, Markus Naslund, Trevor Linden, Mike Gillis, Marc Crawford, Alex Burrows, Jannik Hansen, and so many others! The twins definitely sent their well-wishes to Jay Bouwmeester, who collapsed on the bench during last night's St. Louis-Anaheim game because of a cardiac issue! YAY FOR HENRIK SEDIN AND DANIEL SEDIN!

From Jim for Valentine's Day 2019: Roses and white wine! How nice! ♥

From my ex-friend Natalie and College Humor: Puritan Valentine's Day cards! Roses are red, violets are blue, and neither are useful or necessary at all. I need you to help raise livestock and crops or surely we will starve to death come winter. You almost make my heart dance, and dancing is forbidden. Being with you fills me with impure thoughts, and I am ashamed.

glowing_dragon: (Vancouver Canucks hockey!)
The Canucks played the Predators tonight at 7, and started off Sedin Week with a 6-2 WIN! Markus Naslund, Henrik and Daniel Sedin, Trevor Linden, and Stan Smyl were all in the building for Sedin Week! Pavel Bure also had a message!

From Julie: Most girls on Valentine's Day want roses, chocolate, jewelry, and lingerie. Me, I just want a heart-shaped steak!

A Nicolas Cage pillowcase which I sent to Julie once: See you in my dreams!

From Reddit and r/canucks: When Canucks lose the game and people say, "Don't be negative - go out and enjoy life," I cosplay as the Grim Reaper with a scythe instead.

After COFFEE TIME and calling the Lost Property Office too early for them to receive lost Translink items at 1 (UGH!), I went out at 11:10 on a 401 to go to the Gloucester Café to meet Auntie Catherine for my last belated birthday meal, taking the 15 Olympic Village bus down at Bay 2 across the street rather than walk the seven blocks in the iffy weather. So I was ten minutes late - it still was reasonably on time for me! I scanned the restaurant and finally saw her sitting at a table - she hugged me hello, and we eventually ordered two dishes to share with our individual hot milk tea. Seafood spaghetti in a creamy dill sauce AND chicken pineapple satay fried rice with plenty of shrimp and egg! No, I didn't want to take the leftovers with me!

She talked about church and noticed that I didn't need my glasses, so she was surprised - she didn't know about my eye surgeries! We talked about Mattias and Marcus - they're 11 and 9 now?! Chung Yan still watches Canucks hockey, so YAY for that! Auntie Catherine gave me a surprise 100% red silk scarf (probably an Indian scarf), so that was totally good! It was pretty rainy when we left at 1:20 (Harmony texted to say I could come at 3:30 or so), but I assured her that I'd be fine without an umbrella, and definitely didn't want to go to the North Shore or some other Vancouver Public Library! I just killed time at Oakridge with the free wifi, found out that I'd been BANNED from TwoX Chromosomes because of the too-inclusive special snowflakes ("not all women have vaginas" is very weird), and left at 3 on a 41st Avenue bus (then a 3) to get to the house at 3:35.

Beckett was surprisingly awake and definitely wanted to play with me, the baby pop-up toy (he's now strong enough to make it pop up himself once or twice), and the various balloons scattered around the room. He also threw the plastic blocks at me, but I didn't hold it against him. Hiero laughed when he saw that, so I said with a very serious face that it was NOT FUNNY, and let Harmony take care of the rest. Ayler had to read the Monkeys book with me, and Hiero wanted me to read a book that was at least different than the ones I'd read on Sunday. Beckett wanted to see what we were doing / be close to me, but his brothers didn't like that. I had to give him a few hugs because he was upset! I let Ayler use my cell phone calculator after he said that I was still better at math than he is (debatable) and Beckett said, "Na na na NAAAAAAAAA!", which is what he says when he REALLY wants something! (like the Rice Krispies, a couple of which I put in his mouth at snacktime, which he didn't seem to mind)

Speaking of being serious, Beckett had an extremely serious expression on his face when he was signing "MORE" at dinner. He did get more food, but started throwing it around, even decorating my red bling sweater with macaroni and cheese. (we also had squash, turkey, stuffing, and other Thanksgiving leftovers) Ayler asked me why drinking prune juice meant that you had to be on the toilet all afternoon (because I told him that), so I told him that there was a lot of fiber in prunes. He seemed to accept that. After Beckett cried and was let go from the table to crawl around, he knocked over Ayler's silver water cup, causing Ayler to get all wet and then cry and melt down himself.

Beckett threw the balloons around and said what sounded like "cup" - at least, he had the hard C sound down! Ayler wanted to regale me with piano technique, so I let him tell me about it while listening very seriously. I enjoy it when he tells me about his interests! Hiero wanted me to read to him, but I said that I had to watch Beckett to make sure he didn't kill himself. We also discussed global warming in a kid-appropriate way. I left at 7:20 and finally got home at 8:40. The Canucks played Detroit tonight at 7, and won 5-1.

After COFFEE TIME, I walked to London Drugs in the rain at 10:35 to get on-sale Canada Dry ginger ale x6, on-sale Sharpies packs x2, an on-sale Lindt Gold chocolate Easter bunny, on-sale Kinder mini-egg packs x2, on-sale milk chocolate Hershey's Kisses, a huge on-sale Clorox bleach bottle, on-sale Campbell's soup boxes x2 (Golden Butternut Squash / Roasted Potato with Leek), on-sale Waterbridge Cookie Barrel biscuit assortments x2 (tea biscuits and cream biscuits), an on-sale SpongeTowel six-pack, two actual MARTEX red face cloths (the others are too thin for my liking), pads, easy-opening Vim bathroom spray (I tested it in-store away from the aisle), and TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLE stickers for Nephew #3 sometime! Good thing I brought my wheeled bag for my planned purchases of ginger ale, toilet cleaner, and bleach since everything else added more heaviness! I couldn't even avoid construction and detours at London Drugs due to elevator maintenance, forcing me to go into the parkade on the second floor past London Drugs! When I got home at 12:15 on a 401, I showered and had lunch before having MORE COFFEE TIME.

Big Clorox bleach bottle: almost four litres!

I showered and did laundry today. Also, I got a very belated Christmas card with a red robin and logs / IRON MAN stickers / rainbow stickers / superhero stickers / Roald Dahl JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH bookmark / Roald Dahl THE BFG bookmark / golden owl bookmark / golden stylized leaf bookmark / STAR WARS "Join the resistance!" and "power!" stickers / IRON MAN stickers / rainbow stickers from Rebecca R. DOUBLE COFFEE TIME! I was ready with Eric's Christmas 2018 Almond Roca when he called this morning at 8:55, which I dumped into the backseat when he mentioned Christmas as a reminder. I took an extra 30 seconds to talk to the security guard, who says that he doesn't know how long they'll be posted in the apartment lobby - then I apologized to Eric about it, who didn't say anything much beyond stuff about how he knows the building doesn't have sprinklers. (it would automatically detect fire and BURNING to call 911!) We got to church on time, and I settled into a pew with Myles, Brittney, and Naomi... I definitely hugged Pastor Dan hello and said hi to Joe! Mom and Dad stayed for ONLY the baby dedication, OF COURSE! I said hi to Uncle Joe and Auntie Wing Yee, and waved to Peter, Holly, Evander, Everett, Jon, Harmony, Ayler, Hiero, and Beckett.

After service, I said hi to Lesley / Frances C. (her mom and a possible get-together) / Eva (Harrison's mom - he's now FIFTEEN?!) / Margaret K. / Ivan W. (eye surgery and Sunday Dinner) / Auntie Esther / Harmony (eye surgery support) / Pastor Dan (eye surgery and Sharon being out of town) / Auntie Catherine (hug) / Auntie Cathy (hug) / Emily Y. (Joey in town often and non-profit work for Big Brothers) / Deb (eye surgery support) / Pastor Fulton / Lawrence / Derek C. / Adam L. / Billy (I have the same eyes?!) and Stella (Steph's family) / Rosenda / Sophia / Natalie / Jeff / Anita / Uncle Wayne and Auntie Susan. It was good to see people and say hi... Eric didn't even HAVE hockey because of some international thing going on in that arena, so I got a ride home from him, avoiding lunch with my parents! Of course Mom had my stuff before she and Dad go on a cruise to Cuba and visit Steph's family.

I made sure that I talked to Jon and his crew, of course, patting Beckett's head as I said hi to him. Hiero was playing with a "paper plane," and I helped Ayler with a Nanaimo Bar at the snack table. Eric and I listened to a comedy podcast, then got stuck in traffic to the Arthur Laing Bridge, so we should just have braved the backed-up Knight Street Bridge instead! I finally got home at 12:35 when we'd left the church about an hour earlier... the Canucks played the St. Louis Blues at 12 today, and WON 6-1! I'm just glad that I have unfettered time to blog at my own pace now!

Random (Christmas!) stuff from Mom and Dad, inside a Lush Cosmetics bag: A Spirit "Size 14" thin blue and white pair of pants which Mom thought would "fit" me (ha ha ha... she forgets about the NG butt size!), two random pairs of grey knee socks, Project 7 Coconut-Lime gourmet gum, a pound of Carnaby (Shoppers Drug Mart store brand) Halloween candy and gumdrops in a tub with NO expiry date, a pack of three pairs of women's athletic socks, two pairs of T-Max Heat Holders casual socks (FINALLY, SOMETHING POTENTIALLY USEFUL!), a random pair of white "socks" which don't even fit over my feet, and a Disney Princess Lip Smackers tub in "Birthday Princess" flavor.

Edit: Harmony and Jon emailed me an invitation to an early Christmas Day dinner. Sounds good to me right now!

Happy Hockey Hanukkah!

Project 7 sugar-free Gourmet Gum varieties: Coconut-Lime, Wedding Cake, Rainbow Ice, First Kiss, Peppermint Vanilla, Grapefruit Melon, Front Porch Lemonade, and Birthday Cake! Eight of them, with 12 pieces per package!

White Eric gave me and the Salsitas chips a ride to Jeremy's at 4:45 so we could hang out and watch the Washington Capitals play the Vegas Golden Knights in Playoffs Hockey Game #3, Final Round. (the Knights lost 3-1) Christon couldn't make it, but we chilled with Chinese Eric, Jeremy, and Randal instead. We discussed Old Dutch Ripple chips, my Salsitas, Mexican Chili Old Dutch chips, payment for the Pesto Chicken / Meat Lovers pizzas from Ignite Pizza, OCEAN'S ELEVEN, Reddit, ads / commercials, the next hangout (for the sake of my sanity and having to hear Chinese Eric say "you know?" every few words, I hope it's way later!), the baby's name, selling air in OLAY, contactless payment, and Amazon locks. Got home at 10 and just chilled.

Chosen Roach?!

I discovered surprise redrum before going to bed last night - UGH! After COFFEE TIME at 10, I went out at 11 to the Broadway Canada Line Station to meet Auntie Catherine at 11:30-ish. It was definitely time to switch over to Grandma's warm purple Alia winter coat! Auntie Catherine saw me at the station and we hugged hello. I had tea and hand-dragged lamb noodles with four pan-fried dumplings. We talked about my nephews, Youtube, the Bible / her belief in Jesus Christ / original sin / human intelligence vs. God intelligence (like God is automatically more intelligent?) / the Bible / some Christian preacher named David Jeremiah / whether I believed in Jesus Christ (I didn't sign up for that during lunch!), my own personal beliefs, Chung Yan, Chung Ming, Mattias and Marcus being 9 and 7 now (what?!), VCEFC, Pastor Dan still being there, the aging population at church, a speaker on Martin Luther King and the Reformation tonight at the church, Winter Conference as something I could do to remind me of what I grew up with (what?!), Kids Night on Halloween (what would I do there?!), and the Book Warehouse. Despite all that religious stuff, I did thank her for the lunch and said no when she asked whether I wanted anything else.

When I left the Book Warehouse after laughing at a book called YOUR SHITTY FAMILY, I bumped into Auntie Cathy! We talked about her Sunday School kids getting older, her and Uncle Hansel downsizing to live in a condo around 12th and Heather, Frances Chan staying in town now to take care of her mom, Darren Chew's wedding, her trip to Hong Kong next week to spend time with her mom, her getting back in December, my nephews, and her being glad that I was staying warm before she went on with her day because it was getting cold. I finally got home at 1:20 on a 407, and checked my mail: I got another Royal Bank debit card, which replaces the temporary debit card (which I've cut up already) and the card where the chip could not be read! Yay! Then I decided to send Ellen a Facebook message about her mom. I was totally fine with her emailing Frances to ask whether she could give me her email address or contact info, which Frances did allow. I understand and respect that, definitely! Also, I ate my egg salad sandwich for National Sandwich Day today.

Hester dropped by at 8:25 (after being VERY impatient when I didn't answer her knocking in two seconds) to inform me how lucky I was: I'm getting a new fridge / freezer tomorrow! She told her supervisors about it, and it took less than a week! I should have told her about it in May when I noticed something, but I didn't think it was great. Then I took a shower later on.

My ex-friend Marko Velimir Kobak, who's a Leafs fan!

Nail Railovich Yakupov?! I think the patronymic is cool enough, though.

[livejournal.com profile] lilaznffairy421 and I have decided to see if we can reach the maximum number of comments on a post, which is currently set at 5000. (I guess the previous limit of 60,000-something was way too much.. probably caused the servers to crash, burn, and explode!)

We're not members of [livejournal.com profile] _commentwhores, so no worries there. If you want to help us reach that comment limit on this post, go ahead! (I thought of not allowing anyone else to comment, but that didn't promote a spirit of togetherness)

It will be interesting to see how long this takes, so the post will be dated. Whoever first leaves a comment, please date it. If we ever get to 5000 on the post, date the last one if you remember!

Leave any comments you like on any topic, but remember: I have full veto power, and I can delete anything I choose to. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! *evil grin*

By the way: please include a subject line when starting a new thread in the comments section. It makes my job of sifting through emails so much easier. :D

Edit on Wednesday, 2 February 2005 @ 10:50 PM We're done! Yay! :D For Farrah's friends who want to see this for themselves, it's now public. ;)

Edit on Tuesday, 31 May 2011 @ 8:05 PM [livejournal.com profile] matt1993 wants to get this up to the newer limit of 10,000 comments.
