THERE WAS ANOTHER WATER SHUTOFF TODAY - NOT IMPRESSED! After I had COFFEE TIME and fielded an early-morning phone call from Megan at the Burrard eye clinic (Dr. Wise wants to see me this week to check her lens choice?! Friday it is...), Barry picked me up at 11 and we went banking and to Price Smart. I got bananas, on-sale Silk vanilla almond milk, on-sale Nissin noodles x4 (XO Sauce / seafood / black garlic oil / sesame oil), Koka Noodles x2 (Spicy Black Pepper / Tomato), on-sale Uncle Ben's rice x3 (Smokey Flavor / Tomato and Herb / Mushroom Wild rice), MAGGI LETUP / Maggi Kari Letup noodles, and one litre of NEW on-sale Yamasa soy sauce which expires in late October 2020 (I was able to pull off the annoying tab in the store!) / NEW Allen's Vinegar 500 mL of malt vinegar (crammed with the white vinegar and red vinegar on the Western side of Price Smart) / 700 grams of on-sale Laoganma spicy chili crisp oil for DUMPLING SAUCE! (my jar opener thankfully worked on that when I got home!)

Also bought on-sale Brookside Chocolate x2 (Blackberry and Honey / Pomegranate), NEW on-sale Peace Tea cans x2 (Sno-Berry / Mango Green Tea), Lucky Me! Mami Beef Noodles, one Stouffer's Sauté Sensations microwaveable meal (Grilled Chicken Teriyaki), Western Family frozen veggies in the BIG bag, NEW Olympic Dairy small yogurt tubs x3 (Fig Honey / Citrus Cardamom / Smoked Applewood Vanilla - each 325 grams), Puritan canned Irish stew, on-sale JOY dumplings x5 for the Big Crazy price of $4.99 per bag (the last five available - Pork and Vegetable x2 / Lamb and Onion x2 / Pork and Chive), NEW on-sale Tropical Salsa Kettle Chips, and on-sale mint Oreo cookies. I think I'm looking forward to all the snack food! Haha!

Additional purchases: On-sale Old Dutch Humpty Dumpty cheese sticks (Habanero and Blue Cheese!), on-sale Excel spearmint Soft Chew gum x3, on-sale Western Family bottled water x12 (gotta keep ahead of all these sudden and unexpected water shutoffs around here lately...), Ben and Jerry's Moophoria ice cream x2 (Peanut Butter Cookie Dough to replace the one that Paulo ate last week on Thursday even though he says he owes me / NEW Caramel Cookie Fix), NEW on-sale Hardbite chips x3 (Sweet Ghost Pepper / Avocado and Lime / Black Sea Salt), NEW on-sale Ruffles Flaming Hot BBQ chips, and NEW Campbell's Everyday Gourmet Asparagus and Sweet Basil soup. I got Ray as my cashier, and Barry made a comment about how it took me two hours at the store. I wasn't expecting to take 20 minutes to find the malt vinegar, no thanks to some employees there! After I got home at 12:55, I paid my Shaw and hydro bills online. Then I waited out the water shutoff - it was back on by 5:30, THANK GOODNESS!

I went out at 12:30 for shopping purposes at London Drugs, so I walked there. Purchased Tazo ginger tea, a Scrub Daddy sponge, and a Scrub Daddy scrubber. I also mailed some birthday stuff to Julie, but couldn't mail actual cash. Failing that, I had to get NEW Häagen-Dazs Extras ice cream x5! (Rocky Road / Cookies and Cream / Banana Peanut Butter Chip / Brownies and Cookie Dough / Strawberry Cheesecake) Got home at 1:55 on a 401, which is okay.

After COFFEE TIME, I discovered a TOILET TANK EMERGENCY! It wouldn't flush, which was NOT ideal because Chinese Eric is coming over tomorrow! Besides, I really didn't want to go across the street every time I needed to pee! So I bit the bullet and called Hester a few minutes later since I needed to leave at 2, who scolded me for not being perfectly polite and composed on the phone AND for not writing a note. Fuck off - I have to deal with YOUR limited English, and I don't have TIME to write a note to have you deal with the problem after the weekend! Eventually, I managed to communicate that the toilet flush wasn't working, and Ni came by within ten minutes and actually fixed the issues. In that time, Brian had already offered to come over - THIS is what my new friends do for me?! WOW! :D

I left at 2 on a 414 to see Rachel at the Caring Place. Then I went to Shoppers to buy a Stouffer's Saute Sensations Country Beef Pot Roast microwaveable meal, a President's Choice meat lasagna for a future hangout which is not tomorrow afternoon (expires on December 12), Ben and Jerry's Peanut Butter Cookie Dough / Chocolate Milk and Cookies ice cream, Breyers Delights ice cream in Vanilla Cupcake plus Creamy Chocolate, and President's Choice mango ice cream! Should be yummy!

After I FINALLY got a 401 after FOUR 408 Ironwood buses in a row and a 407 at Brighouse after waiting since 4:10, I went to the pharmacy next door to see if I could get my eyedrops prescription filled before they closed. Adam could do it right then, but I didn't have time to chat or to wait for the previous chatty customer to finish because I had frozen things in my bag, so I was in a rush by default! The instructions are the same, anyway. I got home at 4:45 and FINALLY shoved everything into the freezer, almost before the items started really melting! Good thing I can probably get Chinese Eric to help with opening the eyedrops tomorrow if I remember... so I put them on the table with the low-tech blue guestbook and everything else!

Also got bananas, Finesse Daily Renewal shampoo and conditioner, on-sale Western Family garbage bags (60 to a box!), Western Family Skyr yogurt x2 (plain and vanilla!), Nongshim Kamja Tang Myun rich potato noodles, NEW Palmolive Soft Touch dish detergent x2 (Almond Milk and Blueberry / Coconut Butter and Orchid), on-sale Uncle Ben's rice x3 (Tomato and Herb / Cilantro and Lime / Southwest Style) and NEW St. Ives Oatmeal and Shea Butter soothing body wash. Later, I paid my Shaw bill online at home. The Canucks played the Senators at 7 tonight, and won 7-4 after practically blowing a 5-0 lead in the third.

Brian picked me up at about 9 last night from the hospital's main entrance, but I had to take a gigantic huge detour because the construction had blocked off the sidewalks right by my place AGAIN! (going through the parking lot and then find the sidewalk by the pharmacy and then cross THREE crosswalks to get to the hospital) He had joked that it would be like Little Iraq trying to get to my place, and this was about right. The chill get-together was for Paulo's 27th birthday, so of course I was going to come out and meet him. Things were fine until we tried finding Fremlin, but I eventually called Holly (who doesn't have a buzzer system or an elevator in her apartment building?!) when Brian eventually found it. She said that she was going to throw her keys down to us, probably because she was tired of going up and down the stairs for everyone else!

When Brian finally figured out the front door lock (the one in my building is recalcitrant as well), we went upstairs to Holly's suite. We met Paulo, and said hi to Holly and Darryl. Talked about bartending, gin and tonic, red wine, beers, smoking (always someone's choice), travel (Jordan and Egypt and Australia), the leftover pizza with pepperoni and sausage, online people in the other Discord server, Gastown, awful dates, hyphenated names, feminism, the 407, friends being in abusive relationships, weird names like Jesus Condom, the closed sidewalks around my place, (looking for) work, Long Island Iced Teas, (video) interviews, San Francisco, Montreal, fudge Oreos, and my Korean BBQ Kettle chips. Of course I let Holly keep them! Turns out that Paulo lives two minutes from me, which is always good just in case. I let Brian drop me off at Birchwood instead of Dogwood, but I was still with it enough to figure out where I was since things looked different. Got in at midnight, which is fine. Good times with FREEDOM!

Yesterday, I called Chinese Eric to see if he could give me a ride to Jeremy's or back home. He called me back on his lunch break (at 1:20 BEFORE I left to see Rachel), and he was planning to take transit to work at the Art Gallery and then go straight to Jeremy's. I hoped Kevin could drive me to Broadway Station again since white Eric can't make it because of his hockey commitments! I had to leave really early for Jeremy's place because I had to walk to Brighouse station - thanks, endless sewer upgrades and construction! Luckily, I found an in-service bus stop at Alderbridge, so I killed time at Shoppers, buying Korean BBQ Kettle Chips x3 and some Nair. FUCKING JIMMY! Got to Dude Chilling Park at 6:10, which was slightly early. Kingsgate Mall was closing, too.

I met up with Jeremy (so we could all see his new flooring / baseboards and test some marbles on it), Christon, Kevin, Chinese Eric, and Randal. Christon made some pulled pork, chicken and coleslaw. We had my Indomie Mi Goreng chips / various beers (like the cocoa / vanilla Winter Ale) / salsa / Que Pasa chips, called Eric Ho to see where he was, figured out the long wifi password (which Jeremy didn't think much of at first - but then realized he'd never seen me with a smartphone before), discussed my eye surgeries and Jeremy's nose surgery / Huawei / the Rugby Sevens / Uniqlo / Muji / Daiso / real estate / wedding planning / people with 4400 to 5000 Facebook friends, the Lucky Charms Saturday Morning beer for St. Patrick's Day, and waited for Jon to get there even later. I wanted to go home at 10, but nope - I had to wait for 45 more minutes, despite Chinese Eric wanting to head home right after the game ended at 9:30!

Jeremy loved the blurb for the Lucky Charms beer and laughed at it, at least! Kevin did indeed drive me to Broadway Station, while Jon and Chinese Eric got rides back home from Randal. Yeah, that wasn't too bad. I ended up getting home at around midnight on a 401 (passing up a 407 at Brighouse), and was surprised that I was still somewhat awake, since I'd gone to bed at 9:45 yesterday. I did make myself some hot chocolate to warm up from the cold weather. The Canucks played the Knights at 7 tonight, and lost 6-2. Not good if it was 5-1 at the end of the first... 3-0 after the first twelve minutes!

After COFFEE TIME, I had to get ready to leave by 11 for Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot at Lansdowne for a lunch with Mom and Dad. Fatty beef, lamb shoulder, Napa cabbage, white noodles, tofu, yams, vegetable and pork dumplings, deep-fried chicken wings, cod fillets, shrimp balls, beef balls, fish balls, tiger prawns, broth, an iced sour plum drink, and tea! Mom complained that they had seen bus stops around my place - yeah, but that doesn't mean they are in service right now! Dad "helped" with my phone's data and wifi settings. Yes, I know Harmony's family birthday is the 10th somewhere. I'll confirm things with Jon in a few days; no need to rush and be impatient about things! They dropped me off at London Drugs, so I walked home and got in at 12:45.

Random stuff from Mom and Dad: $10 cash, Maggi Masala Indian instant noodles x2 which have already expired as of February 3, Nosh and Co. Munch Madness cheddar and sour cream chips, GIM roasted seasoned seaweed x10, a Want Want gift pack (a box of strawberry Lovely Puffs / five small bags of orange QQ Gummies / a box of round chocolate sticks / a bag of milk candy), No Name chicken instant noodle packages x6, No Name chicken cup noodles, Paldo (팔도 (Paldo)) hot and spicy cup noodles, a package of Nissin chicken instant noodles x5, a packet of Wing's Foods hot chili sauce, President's Choice ginger-peach teabags x18, and organic Nighty Night Traditional Relaxation Teas teabags x4.

After COFFEE TIME, I went to the eye clinic by 11:45 (busing at 11 on a 401, which I got to JUST IN TIME) for an eye pressure test, but I was 25 minutes late because of snow and transit delays, NOT helped by SOMEONE thinking we had infinite time to exit the elevator at Brighouse station! It won't be 20/20 vision or anything with the other surgery, but the doctor is okay with how things are going so far. I decided to take a business card for my home use: IN THE COSMETICS BAG BY THE COMPUTER FOR EASIER ACCESS! I'm sure they have a thousand of those things! While I was out anyway, I decided just to kill time at Oakridge. Thank goodness the snow was melting because of the rain since the temperature had warmed up a bit! I found that the best wifi signal was near the food court (where I had some Pho), and definitely not at Safeway or the library!

I got NEW Pringles Groovz in Applewood Smoked Cheddar flavor, small bottles of Vaseline x2 in Cocoa Radiant Cocoa Butter / Aloe Vera, Flaming Hot Cheetos, and Jalapeno Cheddar Cheetos at Safeway. Also read a bit and talked to people on Discord, as you do. I also went to Wireless Wave to find out why my Internet data was frozen - apparently, I wasn't allowed to have any, which explains some things, but at least I can still seemingly take advantage of Wifi and Shaw Open!

We talked about her mom, Sophie, not saying hi to David yet after a year (sit in their pew!), her brother helping out, the new caregiver from church, the new worship team and their new style of songs, Belinda's new snowblower for Toronto weather, my eye surgeries, and going to No Frills later only to find that the Becel avocado oil margarine was sold out. Ugh, I'll just get it some other time since I was not in the mood to walk anymore once I got into Richmond. Got home at 7:55 on a 401, and the sidewalks were just as clear as they'd been this morning as I tried "safely running" for the bus. Yes, of course I'm a good listener as Anita told me all those years ago, and Frances affirmed tonight. I told her to look up Edward Rutherfurd if she wanted to read more historical fiction, ha!

I had to leave the house today from 8 to 4 because of the forced water shutoff and the sewer upgrades, and I hope this is the only one till all the construction is projected to end in December! This is NOT helping my budget OR my financial situation! I bought spicy beef noodle Tom Yum soup and Brisk iced tea from Thai Express, EMOJI STICKERS for Fraser at IndigoSpirit, chocolate vitamin bread from Maxim's Bakery (a way better $2.75 value than an overpriced ham and cheese sandwich), plus HATCHIMAL / MINECRAFT / PAW PATROL stickers and a kiddy Valentine's Day card from the dollar store.

Before I bothered going home, I called Hester to see if the water was back on. She said "yes" and hung up! What if I couldn't hear her or had another question?! GEEZ! I got home at 4:40 on a 401.

After COFFEE TIME, Vanessa and baby Cassidy picked me up at 11:30 so we could hang out before my eye cataract surgery on Thursday. We went to the Lansdowne Mall food court to try the good dumplings / SLB / wonton at R&H House, and bubble tea at Fresh Elements. Then we walked around T&T to get Paterson's Shortbread (400 grams at $6 for Deb and Dylan), GOLDEN DRAGON SUSHI (for me), pomelos, hot and sour soup, more food, and some veggies. I didn't mind the walking around!

We talked about Jason saying some questionable things, Bev, Hester, Teunis, Krista, showing bamboo shoots to the baby (who didn't like touching it), baby sign language, the baby pointing at things and liking my red bling sweater, shower caps, and more. I did manage to get a blue $4 GOODY shower cap at the pharmacy next door when she drove me home at 2:25, so all is well on that front. It was good to see her for sure!

EDIT AT 10 PM: I went out again in the freezing weather at 8:50 on a 401 to get my Wednesday evening pre-surgery nourishment since I somehow have to not eat anything after midnight on Thursday. Thank goodness that the Stouffer's Sauté Sensations microwaveable meals were on sale for $5 each! I got Chicken Alfredo and Homestyle Beef Pot Roast, plus a NEW Cadbury Dairy Milk Oreo chocolate bar! Damn self-checkout not working well... at least I got home at 9:35 on a 407 so I could finally finish the last two eyedrops doses of four!

I discovered redrum last night - UGH! After I had COFFEE TIME, Barry picked me up at 11:50 and we went banking and to Price Smart. I also got NEW Oikos pineapple Greek yogurt, NEW Danone Oikos Lemon Meringue Creations Greek yogurt, JOY dumplings x6 (Lamb and Onion / Tri-Treasure / Pork and Chive / Pork and Vegetable), on-sale Liberté Skyr Icelandic-style yogurt x3 (plain / raspberry / vanilla bean - so I don't have to go all the way to Superstore for it right now!), soft Chips Ahoy cookies (original and peanut butter), on-sale Campbell's Chunky Soup (Chicken Sausage Gumbo and Creamy Chicken Noodle), and on-sale unsweetened Silk almond milk. We had to go back to Coast Capital (discussing Joy Division and the Clash and hockey fights) because my debit card came up with a "CAN'T PROCESS" error at the store! Ugh! At least I LUCKILY had the $180 cash to pay for my purchases, but STILL! This is a new card from late JULY, too! Bonus: The bank teller's name was HARSHDEEP!

After that, I paid my Shaw and hydro bills online at home. Then I got a Christmas photo card from Janet S. (ghost_light) and Christmas presents and stuff from Julie in a bubble-wrap envelope! A Christmas card with stickers, red and pink CHRISTMAS HOUSE penguin socks, a fun and fuzzy JOT ballpoint pen, Women Daredevils: Thrills, Chills, and Frills (Julie Cummins / Cheryl Harness), eight sticker sheets (Christmas glitter / wild animals / truck stickers which Ayler and Hiero would probably stick all over the floor if I gave it to them / five more assorted sheets), two fun and encouraging little notebooks ("You can do this!" / "Best day ever!"), and a penguin pouch of Cappuccino For You! Eric Ho also finally emailed me back, saying that with his current work schedule, the 27th is the only date that could work for a hockey hangout before the new year. Well, at least he'll keep me posted!

The Civil War took place from 1861 to 1865, the Industrial Revolution took place from 1750 to 1850, and the Battle of the Alamo took place from February 23 to March 6, 1836. The correct answer to Trivia Card 4 is "the Civil War."

From Julie: Eat salad, they say. It's healthy. You know what never gets recalled? Cake. I am sticking to cake. (Yes, because romaine lettuce was recalled here on November 20 because of E. Coli!)

Eric emailed me back to say that he could drive me to baby Beckett's dedication service on Sunday, but he has to be at church at 9:25 AM. That should be fine, I guess. After COFFEE TIME and seeing Rachel at the Caring Place at 2 on a 414, I took the 406 and 410 (just managed to get it!) to buy stuff. I got 28 birthday cards / HERSHEY'S Gold Peanuts and Pretzels 39g chocolate bar (which is already broken... CHOMP!) / a Laura Secord Chocolate Fudge 28g bar / Laura Secord Butter and Cream Fudge bar (all $1.25 for tiny things?! THAT MUST BE THEIR PROFIT!) from Dollar Tree. I got 壽桃 Sau Tao Mustard Green Duck vermicelli noodles x2 / Knorr hot and sour soup mix x5 which expires in May 2019 / Paldo (팔도 (Paldo)) Gomtang beef noodles x4 / Nissin sesame oil noodles x5 which expire in April 2019 from Big Crazy.

Then I purchased Heat Holders thermal socks (SOCKS ON SOCK DAY! WHAT A QUIRKY COINCIDENCE!), Black Friday on-sale store brand garlic pills which expire in May 2020, and NEW White Chocolate Peppermint M and M candy from London Drugs after taking the 410 back there. Somehow, ALL THAT took 90 minutes, despite the dollar store and Big Crazy being NEXT DOOR to each other, and London Drugs being a short bus ride away! People with a billion things in front of me at the store, I swear... I got home at 5:25 on a 401 through the construction zone, and noted the security guard sitting in the smoky-smelling front hall. The Canucks played Minnesota at 7 tonight, and lost 3-2... UGH!

Lucas and Boney are going to get a part-time job at the MOTHER 3 Factory in Chapter 4, in order to get a Ticket for Club Tittiboo so they can find out if Lucky (from the DCMC) is really Duster. You can see regular Claymen, Isaac, and Mr. Brown the blue Pigmask Captain. "A BR2 model 4-stroke 4-cylinder engine."

Was that a little too repetitive, do you think?"

2018 Year In Review!

THIS ENTRY IS ALLOWED TO HAVE NON-ALIGNED TAGS.

[Meme fun: Take the first line from the first post of every month of the year. Repost it here as your year in review. (I'm discounting greetings and things like that :P) Yeah, it's been an interesting year!]

Go to your Calendar and find the first entry for each month of the year. Post the first line of it in your journal as a paragraph, and that's your "Year In Review."

I got a baby girl card for Jason and Vanessa ("KEEP CALM AND CARRY BABY WIPES"), NEW Shasha organic ginger snaps for Vanessa (no sugar?!), 200g of on-sale Ferrero Rocher, 100 store brand bandages, a NEW Carnation variety pack of hot chocolate (TURTLES Canada / Coffee Crisp / After Eight), and NEW Lipton Chicken Noodle Supreme soup from London Drugs, which has just started charging for plastic bags. SO MUCH ON-SALE BLACK PEPPER SALMON JERKY FOR ME AND JIMMY AND JULIE, OH MY! I called Barry at 8:35 AM to tell him about the mouse on the glue trap which I discovered last night. The computer restarted at 6 AM! I called Barry at 9:40 this morning to remind him about going to Rona for a Victor Pest Chaser Ultrasonic Rodent Repeller, which cost $33. I went to the pharmacy next door at 1:50 to refill my prescription early; yes, even Adam commented on it!

I left at 5:55 to get two 3-subject Hilroy notebooks in green and light blue (for home use and road use) from London Drugs, returning home at 6:40 on a late 407. CHOCOLATE AND BATHROOM REPLACEMENTS GALORE AGAIN, and today's date is a palindrome: 8/1/18! Yesterday, Frances C. emailed me to say that she couldn't make it to Felico's because of work, which is fine. I went out at 12 on a 401 so I could buy Campbell's Chunky Soup (Jerk Chicken with Vegetables / Butter Chicken with Vegetables), NESCAFÉ instant coffee (December 16, 2017), a NEW on-sale limited edition Oh Henry! Canada / Oh Henry 4:25 Pop-Up candy bar, barkTHINS snacking dark chocolate with pumpkin seeds for Thanksgiving dinner, NEW limited edition Doritos Late Night Fully-Loaded Nacho chips, and HALLS assorted mint cough drops. I went out at 12:20 on a 414 to do some shopping for on-sale Halloween candy and Advent calendars. COFFEE TIME while I'm still figuring out why Jimmy blocked me instead of just talking to me about what I did...... I should have posed it as a hypothetical a while ago!
