It's Daylight Savings Time 2020 (ugh) AND International Women's Day today! The Canucks played the Blue Jackets tonight at 7, and lost 2-1.

The Canucks played the Rangers tonight at 7, and won 2-1 for SEVEN WINS IN A ROW for the first time since 2013! Eric M. says he's going to that dinner tomorrow, and I've heard Randal is invited too. Okay, then.

After COFFEE TIME, I went out at 4 on a 407 to hopefully make it on time to Do Chay Vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant at Kingsway and Knight. The Brighouse stops have changed because of some construction for a new bus loop - will we ever get to use it? (old Richmond Centre stop is a block back - the Brighouse stop is the old 410 stop) I got there at 5, so killed time by going to the crowded Dollar Tree. I should have just gone into Save-On Foods because I almost killed myself going out of the store since their outside lighting left a lot to be desired. THE STAIRS AND RAMP SHOULD BE LIT UP! I eventually walked back a block to the Save-On, where I bought Teriyaki Noodles Sidekicks and Allen's Malt Vinegar before taking advantage of their wifi connection to copy-paste a NON-MMS text message to Mike into Hangouts instead, and catch up on Youtube comments. No, idiot, you can't police public comments and say "normal" people can't hijack others OR wish staph on me! BAD SOCIAL CUES!

I STILL got to the restaurant first, but hoped that Jon had reserved a table when he wouldn't answer my text messages. Hiero came in a couple of minutes later with Mom, Dad, and a wheeled small suitcase. Dad showed me how the luggage handle worked (push down / pull up), got me to try it out, and gave me some tiny keys which weren't for me. Geez, they're going to set off alarms at the airport! Apparently, they're NOT driving me to the airport anymore - WHAT THE FUCK?! Ayler asked me how many pounds I weighed, only to be shot down by various people.

We talked about monsoon rolls, their running out of coffee, the pub down the street KNOWING they get busy and send people there to wait, tomorrow's plans (Harmony's parents are coming by - so I MIGHT come on Friday if I let her know by Thursday evening), Harmony working on Friday, Beckett liking to look at all the lights, satay noodles, spicy soup noodles, Ayler asking the server about how busy the restaurant gets on weekends (I said he had a question... A TWO-HOUR WAIT?!), Steph meeting Mark Messier, and Dad's choir tonight. It was definitely cold outside when we left at 7:15 or so! I got home at 8:05 on a 407, thanks to Jon and Harmony driving me to King Edward Station. Ayler and Hiero thanked me for my Christmas gifts - I still have time to give Beckett the stuffed Santa dog, I think. The Canucks played Philadelphia at 4, and lost 2-1.

Random stuff from Mom and Dad: President's Choice jalapeno cheddar popcorn, a yellow-green Roots knapsack or backpack to "replace" my reusable bags from London Drugs, two Paderno steak knives, small Cuisinart scissors, a 100 Yen coin, grey Touch Gloves mittens, a Gildan black T-shirt with a golden dragon, an Asian notebook, an embossed pink rose journal, and two random spiral notepads. Mike would be jealous of the Doge bag!

After COFFEE TIME, I went out at 3:05 on a 401 to help with the kids. I stopped by Kam Do Bakery briefly to get a sandwich-like bun, and finally came away with a ham and cheese bun for $2. Despite the train just coming into Brighouse station right when I got to the crosswalk, I just missed it because the traffic light refused to change for half a minute - UGH! I did have time to wait in the lineup at Tim Horton's for a $1.25 Double Chocolate doughnut for National Doughnut Day today, and had enough time to take a photo of that and the bun before I ate the doughnut prior to leaving the store and taking the 3. Once I got to Harmony's, I buzzed into the building, but got no answer, even from that cranky guy of last week. After TEXTING HER without a reply, I sighed and tried buzzing AGAIN - THIS TIME, I FINALLY got a response!

Slightly irritated, I took the elevator up to find that Penny was the likely reason for my delay, and I waited while she finished talking to Harmony before leaving the apartment. Beckett was definitely awake, and seemed interested in the small buttons on Grandma's purple wintry warm Alia coat, so I told him what they were. He also liked the black fuzz! Beckett still likes looking out the window, but he pointed at something outside (maybe the street lights) and spouted random gibberish at me, to which I responded as if it were understandable. He's picked up the word "yeah" and said that a number of times. I didn't care if he wanted to poke his fingers in the holes at the bottom of the baby pop-up toy and "new" light-up toy from Holly! When he wanted to walk, I supported him by holding his hands up high, like I had with Ayler and Hiero. He threw blocks at me when he wasn't attempting to fit them in the holes in the lid ("Na na na NA NAAAAAAA!" when he wanted me to take off the circular lid so he could see where they landed), tried clawing my eyes out (no glasses protection this time!), and pulled off my light winter hat - I made him look at me while I told him NO THROWING!

He seemed slightly interested in the bling on my shiny red bling sweater, and burrowed himself in an embarrassing position on the mat. Hiero wanted me to "fight" him with his long paper lightsabers, but I had to keep an eye on Beckett. We had mesquite smoky bean soup with bacon and kale, grapes, and some cheese that the older kids helped to grate. Beckett scrunched up his face and grinned at us - SO CUTE! When he didn't want to eat anymore, he started to throw food at us - I even got a bonus Cheerio in my soup! (none of his Rice Krispies!) Harmony said that he's different with Jon, who does pretty much the same thing that she does to try getting him to eat. At least I finished before he ate any yogurt; yikes! Ayler and Hiero talked about taking ALL the grapes before I could have any, ding-dongs, what happened if the principal was away (they don't have a vice-principal at that school?!), the "Jingle bells - Batman smells - Robin laid an egg" song, my Coffin Crisp fun-size bars with skeletons and spiders, calcium / iron / vitamins / sugar, my going to Ontario by myself, FOUGHT being the past tense of "fight," math quizzes being verboten at dinner (even though 16 + 6 is simple), and new therapy.

Once Beckett had been put down to sleep, I read more pig and elephant stories (yay for my different voices!) / AMELIA BEDELIA / Invisible Boy stories to Ayler and Hiero. I reminded Hiero to do something, and Ayler pushed him towards the bathroom, which made Hiero upset and crying. Geez! Harmony let me go at 7:35 and said that she hoped the transit strike didn't affect me too much, I just managed to get a 3 to Marine Drive Station (which STILL stopped for two minutes at 41st!), some lady was standing RIGHT in my way in front of a seat on the Brighouse train I DID get, and I got home at 8:35 on a 407. I updated Mike via text, although I bet he didn't have much time to read. The Canucks played St. Louis tonight at 7, and lost 2-1 in overtime despite a big goal from our rookie Quinn Hughes...

From Julie: Me whenever I meet someone who can match my dark sense of humor and sarcasm... "You're full of hate and loathing and I love it."

THE 2019-2020 NHL SCHEDULE IS OUT TODAY! I came across a problem with my HP Laserjet 1020 printer today while printing out the Canucks schedule and generating more "origami paper" for Hiero. It said there was a paper jam, but it had been printing things out just fine a few seconds beforehand! After Googling it and attempting to fix it myself via a Youtube video, I texted white Eric about the issue after a phone call got no answer. (which is totally fine)

Left my phone on and he called me at 7:05 to figure out the problem more in depth, so I showered immediately afterwards. He came by at 7:40 to figure out the bigass cartridge, and show me what to do. Turns out I have to tilt the mustache on it at a certain downwards angle, which I attempted myself. He left five minutes later - then Jon emailed a bunch of us about Randal's upcoming birthday: Lion's Den at Fraser and Kingsway, then maybe 12 Kings or Bells and Whistles (17th and Kingsway) for drinks afterwards. Randal wants me there? Okay, then... nice!

COFFEE TIME while I'm still figuring out why Jimmy blocked me instead of just talking to me about what I did... I should have posed it as a hypothetical a while ago!

Then again, he probably doesn't trust me anymore after what I did, which I can now regret and understand! The Canucks played the Stars at 1 today, and tried holding a 1-0 lead... NOPE, they lost 2-1! UGH! Afterwards, I went to London Drugs at 4:10 on a 401. I got new Cra-z-Art felts, on-sale Lever 2000 Original soap in a pack of four, and some replacement items: Garnier Fructis Pure Clean green shampoo and conditioner, NEW NIVEA Care and Diamond body wash (Diamond Shimmer Calla Lily scent), a yellow LifeCandy shower pouf, two GUM toothbrushes, Softsoap pomegranate and mango liquid hand soap, on-sale Arm and Hammer baking soda toothpaste, two dark blue GOODY toothbrush covers, and a GIBSON owl coffee mug.

While I was there, I mailed the Soo black pepper salmon jerky and a Christmas card to Kramer / Merlin / Poohbear / Kitsune in a bubble-wrap envelope... plus Christmas cards to Julie (moonshar), Sheryll (sheryll), Kitty (bornwitch / dutch_kitty), Deanna (endlessblush) [and a bonus birthday card], Corey (dwcorey) [and a bonus birthday card], Kelli (neonrose5), and Steph / Lisa / Fraser / Henry / Havarti. Dr. Wise's eye clinic called me at 11:40 AM to say that they had a prospective date for my cataract surgery, which they recommended I take: January 10, 2019! (a Thursday) After leaving Barry a message about it AND being interrupted by Hester about insurance, I called Chrystal at noon at work to see if we could have an annual Christmas dinner (Friday, Dec. 21 after my dentist appointment with Sean), while having COFFEE TIME! Now I can plan stuff - SO GOOD!

I went out at 2 on a 414 to see Rachel at The Caring Place, then tested my Big Crazy colander against enoki mushrooms and macaroni simultaneously - EVERYTHING WORKS WITHOUT LOSING FOOD TO THE HOLES! YAY! The Canucks played Los Angeles at 7 tonight; the game went to overtime, and the Kings won 2-1.

Barry A. Cook and Kyriakos Gouridaris tried adding me to Facebook - DENIED! Steph called me unexpectedly the other day (the 13th) to vent about Mom and her overly-complicated planning, especially trying to let JON pick the location for MY birthday AGAIN. His kids are not an excuse for everything! Planning with Lisa's side of the family is "we're inviting ourselves over for dinner... boom, done!" She definitely doesn't miss that OR Mom, but does miss me and seeing the boys. Apparently, Mom was trying to get her to come over for my birthday, but if she wouldn't fly over for Beckett's baby banquet last week... at least Lisa, Fraser, and Henry are doing well. I don't care if she can't make it for my birthday, especially if it's just her solo and everyone else isn't part of Mom's "whole family" image! That's offensive!

Then I called Auntie Catherine last night (the 14th), trying to change our Monday plans to Saturday plans like it originally was. Nope, she has car issues and the doctor's appointment is better for her. Well, I felt bad trying to do that, which is something rare for me. Oh well, at least I briefly talked to Chung on the phone, and Auntie Catherine can just meet me in front of Pepper Lunch!

After COFFEE TIME, I left at 3:25 on a 401 to meet Dad at King Edward Station. Once I got to Mom and Dad's, the kids were busy with some "wet tattoo" stickers on Easter eggs, but I got to read some Gruffalo books to Hiero (who sat in my lap) later on. Ayler held my hand and wanted me to weigh myself on the bathroom scale - I weighed less than I thought, anyway! He's 42.2 pounds, and seemed to like the scale being on E for whatever reason. We had turkey, yams, gravy, stuffing, pomelos, and Brussels sprouts fried in bacon oil for dinner. I didn't care if Mom and Dad had double-booked themselves for dinner, either. Talked about Auntie Grace and Uncle George going to Toronto because Dave and Tiffany are having another kid, Harmony and Jon going to Victoria tomorrow on the ferry with her family, Ayler pressing microwave buttons and putting plastic in his mouth, turning off the various lights, plugging the toilet, and stopping the car on the way to Oakridge Station because of too much noise.

I saw two people hugging each other at Brighouse Station. YOU CAN PICK A BETTER LOCATION THAN THE TOP OF THE STAIRS, COME ON NOW! When I got home at 7 on a 407 (just managing to get the bus!), I saw I had a Youtube comment saying that this person wishes I hadn't mentioned a turkey dinner because it's disrespectful to her as a vegetarian. I DON'T GIVE A SHIT, SO FUCK OFF! Even another vegetarian said that comment was a bit much! The Canucks played Edmonton at 7 tonight, and won 2-1.

After COFFEE TIME, Eric picked me up at 6:25 (he had to work from home today) so we could go to Jeremy's. I had his Ganong Delecto dark peppermint creams and Christmas card, plus Jeremy's FROSTY THE SNOWMAN Advent calendar and Christmas card. I'd also decided to give Ayler my old NIV Reference Bible (from 2010) for later in life. HA! Eric and I talked about life on the way there ("Christmas spirit?" "Well, I can't bitch about it being too early to mention Christmas..."), Wo's Restaurant, his not seeing Jon's new place apart from moving help, that Kwong Chow dinner, and his asking if I liked hot or cold yoga. Hahaha, no! I do know there are places near Jeremy's that offer it, though. We passed by the Boiling Point Hot Soup Restaurant which I'd seen on Yelp a couple years ago, too. The Canucks played Toronto at 4 today, and won 2-1, which I heard about later. When we got to Jeremy's apartment, I could hear what seemed like Randal pontificating on something, so I commented on this to Eric in a low voice. After hearing a little more of this "pontificating," I understood that it was the pre-dinner prayer. Oh well!

I saw Ayler and Hiero for two minutes as they were getting ready to leave with Harmony, and Ayler greeted me with "You should be here earlier!" Hahaha! I told him that Eric had had to work from home today, so that hadn't been possible. Then Jon said that I could have been there earlier had I not been too lazy to take the bus. Whatever - Eric had enabled it by being home when I called his cell at 2:30 to see what was going on after he hadn't answered my email reply last night! I asked Ayler if that meant he wanted to see me more, and he said yes. I think that's a good sign, so I said I'd see him on Monday. "And then Wednesday!" he said. No, that isn't going to happen! I managed to offload the Bible to Harmony since she had the cleanest hands out of her and the kids before they left. Later, Jon said that if I didn't hear from him, I should come on Monday - his student had been sick last week, so he'll call to see if the lesson is still going on. I also said that I'd sent Steph his address, so she'll send him that baby card with Henry (but I said "some mail") when she gets around to it. I gave Jeremy his FROSTY THE SNOWMAN Advent calendar, which he apparently really loved because he used to watch that exact FROSTY THE SNOWMAN cartoon religiously as a child! Hahaha, I'm glad that he really loved it! Of course he thanked me! He was also surprised at the pile of mostly change that I dumped on the donations table, deciding to raise my payment by two loonies and a toonie. (Jon's smoker friend Edwin left at this point, too)

I talked to Dilys and Trish about using Ayler and Hiero's leftover mugs (kid cooties can't get us!), wedding card / wedding thanks etiquette, early Christmas decorating / Christmas songs, Jesse's brother Hubert holding hands with a girl named Amanda at their first group meetup at a movie (that worked for them), Steph / Lisa / Fraser / Henry (Dilys had seen Steph and Lisa with my parents at a White Spot on Kingsway [?] while she was pregnant with Fraser), cookbooks, reading books, non-fiction, swearing around kids, hillbilly society, and documentaries after saying hi to a guy named Jonathan / Caleb / Jesse / Christon / Gino / Quan / Rebecca. Then I finally got a chance to ask Kevin whether he'd received the MEGA SUSHI email two months ago (couldn't do it at the Wo's Restaurant dinner), but he said that it must not have come through his inbox, then apologized. Nothing to be done about that!

Later, the phone was off the hook, so some people showed up randomly. I told Dilys that at the last dinner, I had accidentally locked Jon out of the apartment when he came back from taking the kids home with Harmony; I'd locked Jeremy's apartment door out of habit! I shouted over the music to ask Randal about NaNoWriMo, but he hadn't done it. He did say that there was a local challenge to write a novel in three days - yeah, I could never do that! Also, he mentioned that it was too loud with the music and other conversations. Not as bad as the Shark Club, man! I said hi to Ivan, who said I looked the same with my festive "jeweled" shirt and Santa hat - OF COURSE! Dilys asked if the clock chimed - yes, it did! Someone asked whether Jeremy had a VHS collection, but nope! He did have vinyl records, for sure! Christon told us about the Willingdon café $5 meal ministry before he left early.

Later, Jeremy was showing Trish some Christmas ornaments and decorations (including candy canes, which my nephews had recognized) on the Christmas tree. Lots of yearly ornaments and inheritances from his grandma! There was a bird feeder decoration from his grandma, and Eric wanted to ask Jeremy whether there was a leftover Communion glass there. Nobody heard him, so I used my existing NG lungpower to relay the question. Jeremy gave us a look, looked at the decoration again, and laughed - there was indeed a Communion cup! I had to laugh and said that Eric had NAILED IT! Ivan, Randal, Eric, and I talked about "accident" kids like Hiero and Ivan's brother Nathan, kids ten months apart, Richmond life, renting, his paying cheap rent to his parents, night shifts / managerial positions not being worth it for sleep / money considerations, the high gasoline prices (147.9?), Ivan's having to make FOUR trips to and from Richmond / Steveston to the Italian Cultural Centre because Stanley's wedding cake fell through (but they then got 500 different doughnuts from Steveston - PLAN BETTER FOR LESS DRIVING!), a pharmacist job, the new Shoppers Drug Mart near my place, the Richmond Centre Shoppers Drug Mart, patients wanting to set him up with their kids, my mom wanting to set me up with John Law once, how Mom acts when she's drunk (like the mooncake at Thanksgiving lunch 2007 at the townhouse - Kevin said that I had a good memory if Randal couldn't remember what happened WHEN HE HAD BEEN THERE!), Dad and others getting old, and the declining attendance at VCEFC.

I remembered to ask about the small group situation (Crossroads), but everyone in existing positions is overstressed and overstretched because there are fewer people around since they've left for various reasons. Awana is still a thing, but the leader-to-kid ratio is something like one leader to eight kids, as opposed to one leader for three or four kids like when I was doing it with Anita and Melia. The Fellowship situation may be starting up again with another version of David Fellowship, but lots of people have pre-existing small group commitments once or twice a month already, so the connection aspect may not be there if people only go to the big group once a month or so. Eric and I left at around 10:10, after I'd asked Ivan whether the church website had a livestreaming service, but he and Eric just chuckled - nope, probably not, although I do remember that they record the services and put them up at some point during the week.

When we left after I had drunken trouble with my winter jacket (Jeremy laughed - but I did thank him for hosting and all of that), Eric wondered if I'd had an enjoyable evening - I had, and so had he. He reminded himself not to go into robot mode, and I reminded him again when we got near that important turn-off. In the parking lot at 10:30, I asked what it meant if the computer restarted randomly or Windows didn't start up properly some of the time. I'm sure it could be a number of things, but I didn't want to set up something right then. He isn't even going to church tomorrow because he has a lot of work to do! I'll just email him later sometime, but it is time for bed now! Yep, Jimmy seems odd in the "wait a minute - why are you not saying anything?" way, but it's best to leave that alone.

I had a dream where Liz from the GARFIELD comics was squished upside-down in the panels, and screaming at Chelsea S. Then I tried cooking ground beef in a silver metal bowl, but it came out looking like the pink-and-white yarn homemade sponge that my parents have! Ugh, I hope THIS isn't an omen! It shouldn't be, since I plan to boil the actual ground beef in a non-stick pot for some "DIRTY RICE" New Orleans-style mix.

Ground beef with a bunch of cayenne pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and a random lavender herb rub from the cupboard turned out fairly decently... I hope! The Canucks played the Blue Jackets at 4 PM today, but lost 2-1 in overtime. DAMMIT. Ate all that dirty rice; it was a bit much for one sitting, so I'll take the rest home sometime. Called Steph later to share something gross, hehehe.

The Facts About Poop! 75% of your poop is water. Of the remaining 25%, half is comprised of fiber that our bodies find indigestible and help our poop move through our digestive system. Another 1/3 is composed of dead bacteria. The other 1/3 is a mixture of fats, inorganic salts, dead cells, mucus, and live bacteria.

Poop stinks because bacteria produce foul-smelling compounds that are rich in sulfur and nitrogen. Turds that float have unusually high gas content. During World War II, German tank drivers thought it was good luck to drive over camel dung... the British found out and made explosives that looked like poop. BOOMSHAKALAKA!

The outer skin of a corn kernel is indigestible and seem to appear as whole kernels in our stool. Rabbits can poop up to 500 pellets per day. With the help of a high-fiber diet, the longest poop ever recorded was 26 feet. Some caterpillars can fling their feces up to 3 feet to elude predators. The average human poops two pounds a day. Elephants produce up to 80 pounds per day.

POOP COLOR CHART: Brown is caused by bilirubin, a pigment resulting from the breakdown of red blood cells. Green is caused by consumption of leafy green vegetables. Red is caused by bleeding in the lower digestive tract or rectum. Yellow indicates bowel hyper-mobility or giardia. Blue is caused by illness in babies, or foods with a high concentration of blue food coloring. White is caused by lack of bile. Dark brown indicates bleeding in the upper digestive tract.

Coffee cherries are fed to civets, a weasel-like animal. During digestion, the animal's enzymes mix with the coffee beans and come out in their poop. The beans are made into civet coffee, and can cost up to $600 per pound.
