Before COFFEE TIME / BRUSSELS SPROUTS TIME / HOT CHOCOLATE TIME, I called Chrystal at work at 10:10 AM to remind her about tonight. I left at 6:50 on a 414 (which actually had the wheelchair ramp slope in use instead of the steps) to get to London Drugs on time at 7:30 or so. Unfortunately, someone caused a delay for me at Brighouse. Why would you try to start small talk with someone in an elevator who obviously isn't paying any attention to you for a 20-second ride?! No, I'm not going to respond to a guy cyclist's "hi, how are you, hope you're okay, ma'am" in an ENCLOSED SPACE, especially because YOU AND YOUR BIKE FUCKING MADE ME MISS THE FUCKING TRAIN AND WAIT AN ADDITIONAL 11 MINUTES! The elevator wasn't on the first floor either when I needed it to be! I saw the train pulling into the station when I had JUST gotten to the stairs outside!

Don't get me started on the three tall white dudes who evidently had something like "Well then! What the?" to say to me when I was running for the train at Broadway on the way home! THEY WERE OBSTACLES IN MY PATH so of course I had to BARREL into them, and I didn't even have time to turn and yell FUCK OFF! Or the guy IN the train who was blocking my path right when everyone got off and I wanted in. People, have some spatial awareness and consideration! Too bad they didn't think I had coronavirus! At least Mike found my text message rants entertaining!

I FINALLY got to London Drugs at 7:45, where Chrystal was waiting for me and wandering near the back of the store. We quickly decided on our default option of Pho Extreme Xe Lua, since Cactus Club would DEFINITELY be busy on a Friday night even if we'd bothered to reserve beforehand! (they made us wait for 45 minutes at my birthday dinner even WITH one!) We ordered a small #1 (special noodle soup for Chrystal), six signature butter chicken wings for $9.50 to share (although she only ate one - we split the bill anyway), and a large #30 Bo Bun Hue noodle soup for me. We talked about my trip (I showed her some photos), her nephews Benjamin and Ethan, Ayler / Hiero / Beckett / Fraser / Henry, my relief that Mom wasn't coming on that trip, the flight delays, toys, that gas leak on Chinese New Year, her sushi Chinese New Year dinner with family, Hiero's UBC birthday party and presents, Beckett learning new words, Hiero being sick, and work not being fun today. I got home at 9:35 on a 407, which I guess wasn't terrible for leaving the restaurant at 8:50...

I got a blue dragon as my home icon on Google Maps on my phone! I set my "home," tapped on the menu icon, skipped the commute, and tapped on the three dots which appeared so I could change the home pin!

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND 2020, EVERYONE! NEW YEAR, NEW DECADE!

FINALLY HOME AFTER A FLIGHT! I left the house with Steph after thumping my suitcase up the stairs from the guestroom, hugged the kids, and Steph noticed Havarti was sad because she knows what a suitcase means. We drove 45 minutes to the airport; why WOULD she take a $20 or $30 toll road to save one minute?! I hugged her goodbye, then got selected for a pat-down because I accidentally left my phone in my pocket. UGH! At least a kind employee got me a zoomer to go all the way to my YYZ gate after the elevator! The flight itself was uneventful - I was seated in front with the babies and children, but played with my new friend, the year-old baby boy next to me.

White Eric picked me up as advertised after I landed at 2 today. Wow, time change! Haha. I had to walk the length and breadth of YVR because the outside exit for domestic arrivals was all the way at the front. Sweating for sure! I was home by 3, and everything seemed okay, but THE MICE MANAGED TO CHEW THROUGH THE STEEL WOOL IN THE BATHROOM?! YUCK!

At 12 AM the night before New Year's Eve, it will be Ramones time. It will be 2020, 24 hours to go. I wanna be sedated!

Steph sent me a Facebook message wondering if December 19 to January 1 was okay for the Ontario trip, or if I had New Year's Eve parties back home to attend, saying that she and Lisa have low-key New Year's celebrations themselves. That's actually great, since she thinks the airports won't be too crazy on those particular dates! WOO! TIME TO POST A BUNCH OF PLACEHOLDERS!

Had sesame seed bagels with cream cheese, coffee, kiwi fruit, and pears for breakfast today. Deb opted to keep Elysse at home this morning, so we went to Costco after I checked on my place and grabbed a couple of things, including Alice's FARTING ANIMALS coloring book. I even asked if I could do some laundry, and Deb said I could after she was done with five loads of laundry herself. Deb ended up buying DRUMSTICKS ice cream, Build-Your-Own-Taco kits, Liberté honey yogurt with a certain amount of milk fat for her mom ("it's not on sale, but it's my mom!"), fruit, rotisserie chicken, quinoa salad, compost bags, chocolate muffins, apple muffins, Two-Bite Brownies, and many other things.

Lunch: French bread, Brie cheese, DanActive yogurt drink, edamame beans, and Costco rotisserie chicken. Finished my laundry and was relieved to have that done so I won't have to do two loads of laundry right away when I get home tomorrow. We had fried rice with chili pepper and fish sauce, plus edamame beans on the side for dinner. Later, I entertained Declan and Elysse with the FARTING ANIMALS coloring book ("OH MY GOD!") - HAHAHA!

Barry actually did drive me to the eye clinic today for my appointment after my breakfast of coffee and a cream cheese bagel with half a kiwi, but he had his Japanese wife in the car since it was better to drop her off at work around the same area. He was trying to text my home number and call me before he remembered I was at Francis?! Oh boy. The followup appointment went well, and at least I only have to wear the eye shield at night now.

I got back to Deb and Dylan's at 11, and I noticed that my glasses seemed smudged, like someone smeared Vaseline all over them. We had more butter chicken, rice, naan bread, strawberries, Pabst Blue Ribbon beer, BBQ pork, Konnyaku noodles, pork bone, fishballs, green beans, and soup for dinner! Elysse called me an alien... NO!

I went in for surgery on my other eye today when Barry picked me up at 9:20. I'm glad that Brian showed up in time to give me a ride home at 2:30. He was perfectly fine, asking me eight times whether I was okay, how I was feeling, whether I needed a drink or painkillers, etc. Looking at my phone right afterwards was not productive. The sun was bright, but he let me know about the step down to the car. Got home at 3:50 (TEN MINUTES AFTER MOM AND DAD WANTED TO PICK ME UP AFTER AYLER'S SCHOOL PICKUP!) and almost immediately took a nap from the anesthetic. I had some soup as the nurses recommended, then Deb called at 6:10. Sure, I'd be ready pretty soon, and didn't need Dylan to pick me up later. Tomorrow's followup at the eye clinic is at 9 AM - yikes!

The soup prepared me for a dinner of adobo with rice, half a kiwi, GREAT VALUE tandoori chips, and fish congee with shredded pork and peanuts. Declan and Elysse demonstrated the FORTNITE floss dance to me at dinner, hahaha. At 7:15, I decided to check my text messages BEFORE the phone keyboard letters turned to curlicues at the ends, and could barely decipher one which Barry - of all the people - had sent. I got Declan to help read it and reply with "Francis," telling him how to spell the word. No, I was not thinking of giving Barry extra info pre-surgery; he should be happy I was able to call him at ALL! Elysse gave me spontaneous hugs, which is fine. I finally gave the kids those HATCHIMAL and MINECRAFT stickers I'd seen at the Richmond Centre dollar store months ago, and they seemed to like them a lot. I will sleep downstairs on the sofa bed.

After COFFEE TIME and some aspirin, I left at 3:30 for my dentist appointment with Sean at 4 today, which was a success! He's going to Colombia to get married?! Later, I hung out at Oakridge Library and Safeway to kill time for a bit until meeting Chrystal for our annual Christmas dinner at 7:30 at the usual London Drugs and intersection. Broadway / Cambie London Drugs, baby! I also mailed cards to Janet (ghost_light) and Angie (auralily), plus a surprise for someone else.

While I was at London Drugs, I bought two bags of Bayco Turkish Delight in Rose and Lemon flavor for the NOSTALGIA, and promptly gave one to Chrystal when she showed up, hahaha. We went to Pho Extreme Xe Lua and discussed all our nephews (Ethan loves baby Benjamin), her mom's Christmas Eve birthday, Uncle Peter and Auntie Ying still being fairly independent, life, watching TV, needing time to yourself after a get-together, Rachel, my eye surgery, meeting her dad at No Frills, her hot pot Christmas family plans, the fire here, and new bakeries. I got home at 9:25 after walking home from Brighouse (at 9:10), which is the time when the 407 bus WOULD have come.

Dr. Wise's eye clinic called me at 11:40 AM to say that they had a prospective date for my cataract surgery, which they recommended I take: January 10, 2019! (a Thursday) After leaving Barry a message about it AND being interrupted by Hester about insurance, I called Chrystal at noon at work to see if we could have an annual Christmas dinner (Friday, Dec. 21 after my dentist appointment with Sean), while having COFFEE TIME! Now I can plan stuff - SO GOOD!

I went out at 2 on a 414 to see Rachel at The Caring Place, then tested my Big Crazy colander against enoki mushrooms and macaroni simultaneously - EVERYTHING WORKS WITHOUT LOSING FOOD TO THE HOLES! YAY! The Canucks played Los Angeles at 7 tonight; the game went to overtime, and the Kings won 2-1.

I realized that I was definitely running low on juice: wait, the last time I bought them was in late April?! Luckily, I stumbled onto a fortuitous sale on one-litre SunRype juices at London Drugs, so I went there at 7:55 on a 401 in the slightly rainy weather with my WHEELED BAG. I got back at 8:35 on a 407 with on-sale SunRype juice x13: peach-mango, apple, raspberry-mango, blackberry-pomegranate, apple-orange-peach x2, strawberry-kiwi x2, Concord Grape x2, and wildberry x2... more than half-off if buying 10 or more! What a consumer whore I am! I also somehow got away with paying only $13.58 for all that juice, despite it being $1.19 for each box (of 13) AND a 5-cent levy on each! Whatever - I'll take it. :D

Also, Massimo Raffanini tried adding me on Facebook - DENIED! Now I'm just talking to Jimmy as usual - woo!

After I had COFFEE TIME, Barry picked me up at 11:50 and we went banking and to Price Smart. I got NEW spicy shrimp (EAT THE TAILS!), hot and spicy pork stomach (they should discount it if it expires tomorrow!), Wu-Ham duck necks, on-sale Clorox wipes x2, on-sale Oasis juice x4, $1 Sidekicks x14 (Garlic Butter with Lemon / Tomato Alfredo / Honey Garlic Noodles / Creamy Chicken Fusilli / Teriyaki Noodles / White Cheddar and Broccoli / Chicken pasta / Country Mushroom rice / Mexican Rice / White Cheddar with Queso rice / Homestyle Cheddar / Three Cheese pasta / Chicken Fried Rice), on-sale Healthy Choice microwaveable Power Bowls (Korean-Inspired Beef / Chicken Sausage and Barley / Adobo Chicken / Cuban-Inspired Pork), on-sale JOY dumplings x4 (Lamb and Onion / Pork and Chive / Pork and Tri-Treasure / Pork and Vegetable... saves me a trip to Big Crazy for the same price!), on-sale $1 store brand canned mixed beans x10, on-sale Olympic yogurt x2 (strawberry Krema / black cherry Krema), and on-sale Western Family blueberry-pomegranate Greek yogurt.

Also got on-sale Imperial margarine, on-sale Premium Gomtang beef noodles x2, on-sale Bul Jjampong Korean noodles x2, an on-sale KitKat Espresso Biscuit and Ganache bar, on-sale store brand Parmesan cheese, on-sale Authentica World Cuisine pasta sauce x2 (Arrabiata / Puttanesca), on-sale Catelli seashell pasta, on-sale store brand CLR, on-sale Del Monte lychee juice, Crave microwaveable meals x2 (Pulled Pork and Spicy Sweet Potatoes / Lasagna Alfredo with Bacon and Sausage), store brand mango lemonade, store brand raspberry lemonade, and a free apple from Barry!
