My morning before 8 AM: Shaw going out for 10 minutes because of the 24/7 construction across the street (noise exemption bylaw) and then Windows decided to update 10 minutes after that....

Boo! I discovered redrum in the shower! Blood on the yellow shower pouf means that this (and the square-shaped soap) must be thrown away! At least it wasn't overnight in bed... but it wasn't supposed to happen yet. UGH!

From Chinkerbelle on Tumblr: Reasons I grab my boobs! Running upstairs, running downstairs, running, stoked on life, scared, walking through my house in the dark, bored, boobs...

From Susan and Heart Touching Fun: Garfield and Pooky! You've been hugged! Pass it on.

From Julie: Alpaca vs. Llama! An alpaca weighs 150 pounds, has soft fleece, listens to human commands, eats grass, is even-tempered, and travels in herds. A llama weighs 400 pounds, has a knife in its fur, listens to Norwegian death metal, eats old corn dogs, is constantly drunk, and will kill you the first chance it gets.

Wow! As of March 31, my Facebook posts have been liked 90,000 times so far!

I've been talking to Robin off and on lately, and he says that Lena was toxic and basically a liar about the whole child thing, so... HA!

After COFFEE TIME, Eric Ho called to confirm the time he was coming over to watch a lot of hockey, so I had to take a shower! I had the parking pass, bottled water, the Lindt caramel Easter eggs, Lindt Blueberries and Cream / Strawberries and Cream / Milk and White Spring Edition chocolate truffles, the Russell Stover praline chocolates assortment, the Laura Secord peanut-free chocolate assortment, and the Kit-Kat Senses hazelnut chocolate assortment ready for him in a huge Ziploc bag, plus smaller ones as appropriate. That was in a Price Smart plastic bag since I also had Ferrero Rocher hazelnut Easter eggs and Easter Egg Oreo cookies for him. Yes, of course we could have Deb's frozen Great Value All-Beef meat lasagna for dinner, plus a lot of snacks! I also got him to help open my eyedrops and buy me some heavy bottled water (a 24-pack for the rounded-down price of $5) while he was out anyway, and all I had to do was text him my Price Smart card number and address. Phew!

He got here at 3:25 and quickly settled in to watch some Blue Jays baseball. Yes, he definitely thanked me for all the stuff mentioned above! We talked about Korean LEAGUE OF LEGENDS players, always being online, Steph, the Habs and the playoffs, ARE YOU SHUTTING ME?, the Mi Goreng chips (which he thinks are "wicked"), Winnipeg Jets playing the Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators playing the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Canadian dollar falling. Also spoke on Jim Hughson, CBC After Hours (Markstrom / Josh Leivo / Tyler Seguin), Sportspage, Sportsnet Pacific, ownership, excitement, my being able to text him at any time for things like heavy bottled water, Facebook tagging (which he's cool with), my online hockey fan friends (don't remind me of Jimmy...), Quinn Hughes, April Fool's Day (ugh), and opening the living room window. I'm well aware that he thinks my apartment is too warm!

Conversed about the ENDLESS CONSTRUCTION ZONE and closures around here, Google, pay-per-view Canucks games, Hockey Night in Canada / Hockey Day in Canada, the Whitecaps soccer game and the origins of the Southsiders nickname, long-range planning for his birthday (a Thursday - he enjoyed hanging out with me and white Eric last year at Boston Pizza) and Christon's wedding at the Blundell Church / the nearby Kirin, and HOCKEYVILLE. Discussed my new Reddit friends, his lupus making him overheat easily (he's already transitioned to a Toronto Blue Jays T-shirt and wondered if my DRAGON HOODIE was too hot for me - NOPE!), the Korean BBQ chips, the Salsitas, his ranting, bumping into "whoever" (Mike - don't be so vague!), Trudeau, "injury time / stoppage time" in soccer (where they add on time to the game based on injury recovery time DURING the game - can't imagine that in hockey or football), the old days going to Nathan's basement, "ineptitude" being a "big word" for 9:35 at night, his doing the dishes, and his liking to hang out with me. The Canucks played the Stars at 7 tonight... the game went to overtime plus a shootout, and Vancouver won 3-2! At least Eric Ho could go home happy, but he didn't like that the shootout went so long because he has to work tomorrow.

I like these hangouts from the point of view of updated blogging and not having to wait till I go home to start. YAY! Now I just need to relax from constant talking and vagueness!

Most rounds in an NHL shootout: 20?! Most hockey OT periods ever: Eight in the Norwegian League, surpassing the 1936 NHL record of six?!

Great Value All-Beef Meat Lasagna, kindly given to me by Deb on APPRECIATE A DRAGON DAY!

It's MARIO DAY today! I had to leave really early after DOUBLE COFFEE TIME because I had to walk to Brighouse station - thanks, endless sewer upgrades and construction! I had the on-sale Lindt chocolate bars (Caramel and Sea Salt / Lime Zest) for Harmony's EARLY family birthday dinner at Como Taperia! (early in more ways than one...) I killed time by purchasing a replacement red sweatshirt at H and M, where I also saw a DRAGON HOODIE! :D

We had a bunch of seafood and tapas (octopus / garlic and bread soup / (mashed) potatoes / eggs) while baby Beckett screamed happily at me (rivaling the restaurant's 80s music), Ayler wanted to check the weather everywhere, and Hiero liked constructing Cheerio towers through his toothpicks. After dinner, Hiero said he wasn't tired despite losing an hour of sleep - good for you! I AM! Mom said she had to pay more money to prevent me from accessing data, and that the dinner was $168; if you think I feel guilty about that, YOU'RE WRONG! Then we had to go to Auntie Eva's to drop something off before the parental trip to Hong Kong to see Great-Aunt and cruise around. At least they'll be away from Wednesday to the end of March! I finally got home at 6:45!

Random stuff from Mom and Dad: A black buttoned Louben jacket, a light blue Vancouver 2010 zippered jacket, an orange Top Shop sleeveless vest. preserved Young Coconut cookies, a blue buttoned jacket, a white Monument sweater vest, and a reddish-purple London Fog winter coat.

Today is Thanksgiving!

From Reddit and r/askwomen: Urban Meyer?!

glowing_dragon: (Happy Birthday!)
After COFFEE TIME, I went out at 6:25 to meet Chrystal at London Drugs at 7; it didn't matter if she was late because I'd technically been late as well, getting to the station at 7:05. After telling her that Original Joe's and Chronic Tacos were both closed, I said we might as well walk along Broadway till we saw something that caught my eye. Yes, I definitely knew she was treating me! I knew there was a Cactus Club around there, and I was correct when we got to Broadway and Ash. We talked about sitting on the patio, her Baja fish tacos (I had one) and my tuna poke bowl, water, her nephew Ethan wanting to hit people thanks to preschool, her baby nephew Benjamin, yesterday's eyeball ultrasound and my parents' idea of an Oakridge "ride," our bad sense of direction, Thanksgiving, my parents' upcoming "Tom and Tom" trip to Minnesota, the Canucks, New Zealand, Australia, Mike T.'s birthday the other day (they all went to eat sushi), their going to SURREY instead of RICHMOND on Sunday (thus how they got lost and went on the wrong exit), the computer / router / computer case stuff on Sunday, my having lamb at Felico's, surprise birthday cards, and therapy.

After dinner, I wanted to also check out the nearby Book Warehouse to get the newest Bathroom Reader #31 if possible since the website said it was in stock, and I did! Uncle John's Actual and Factual Bathroom Reader #31 (Uncle John's Bathroom Reader Annual), baby! I told Chrystal about what had happened last year with the "nearest" post office bullshit before we went our separate ways at the Canada Line station, where I just missed a Brighouse train. At Broadway Station, a businesswoman wanted me to hold the elevator doors for her - instead, she managed to squeeze herself in when the doors were closing. The train wasn't even coming into the station, and the other guy on the elevator seemed to have issues of his own, like wearing sandals outside on a cool evening. Some old guy wanted me to move on the Brighouse bench while I was actively reading - NO, because he could have just walked to the end of the short bench! When I finally got home at 9:30 on a 407, I finally checked my mail to find a funny "Happy Birthday, Tree Killer" birthday card from Steph and Lisa, which included Fraser's and Henry's handprints - NICE! Thank goodness that I had peace and quiet to do what I had to do when I got home!

Cactus Club's NEW Tuna Poke Bowl: Sesame ginger Ocean Wise™ ahi tuna, jasmine rice, mango, cucumber, avocado, edamame, radish, and crispy tempura! Hawaiian taste, indeed!

Vanessa wanted to know if tomorrow works for me since she has to go to Vancouver from Langley anyway - sure, why not? I can take advantage of things like my free My BP offer of Pizza Bread OR Cactus Cuts OR Yam Fries... AND Boston Pizza Pasta Tuesday! Time for a shower before eating dinner!

Edit at 11: She wanted to change the restaurant because there is soy in a lot of things at Boston Pizza. I was okay with that, so Pho 37 at Ironwood in Steveston it is! (the reviews are good)

COFFEE TIME! Dawn's friend Terry Cheng added me to Facebook, saying that we'd attended Palmer and McNair together - okay, I can definitely go with that! The Canucks played the Blue Jackets at 1 today, and won 5-4 in overtime despite Columbus scoring three times in the last four minutes of regulation. Thatcher Demko got his first NHL win!

From Someecards: Creepy Easter Bunny 43!

From Julie M. and JUDGE JUDY: Jereme Walker?! Makes me want to pronounce it "Je-REM." That's a bad spelling of JEREMY!

glowing_dragon: (Vancouver Canucks hockey!)
COFFEE TIME! I finally got a Christmas card from Kitty (bornwitch) in the mail today, so that was good! The Canucks played Columbus at 4 today, and finally won a game in 2018.... JAKE INTO THE EMPTY NET FOR A 5-2 WIN! I plan to shower later, too.

Julie wanted to share an 8Memes video with me in Facebook chat last night. (When you want to sleep, and your brain just goes SWEET DREAMS ARE MADE OF THIS...) When I saw it, the same video was at the top of my Facebook feed! QUIRKY COINCIDENCE! :D

With Mr. Z's help, the FINAL FANTASY V SPOOF party finally makes it to the Barrier Tower and defeats Yog-Sothoth. In the aftermath, Mr. Z says, "Mr. Z can't die here! Fools will go unpitied and jibba-jabba will go unchallenged!" Definitely a Mr. T persona there!

Sean Slaney from Ferris and Palmer found me on Facebook - probably from Lisa B. - and added me. We also briefly chatted on FB messenger, which is nice. No, I never went to Burnett for regular school, but probably for Chinese School 30 years ago! John Powell asked if I wanted to meet him and Eve after the game - I think I might be able to deal with snow showers, so I guess that would be fine! HOT CHOCOLATE AND COFFEE! Time to stash a scarf and mittens in my bag for the next four or five months!

The FINAL FANTASY VI: THE ETERNAL CRYSTALS party is in Kefka's Tower, where they have to split up to conquer the dungeon together. They need to step on the circled green button to open up the path for other people, as shown. Bonus: They get a Ribbon from that treasure chest!

Have faith in thyself, for thou art a badass motherfucker.

FINAL FANTASY V SPOOF Bestiary!

THIS ENTRY IS ALLOWED TO HAVE NON-ALIGNED TAGS.

This is the complete bestiary for FINAL FANTASY 5 SPOOF, and all screenshots are from my own playthrough. I'd like to say that this GameFAQs bestiary document helped me a lot; thank you! (as did this one, for more precise directions in certain places) Also, this walkthrough helped me a lot, too! Actually, I was tired of suffering through emulator slowness and game glitches x8, so input a code for a 100% complete Bestiary. These maps will help, since the world map DOESN'T FUCKING WORK IN THIS GAME!

This is a good RPG Classics page for Pro Action Replay codes!

CHECK THE MAP WITH THE Y BUTTON, NOT THE R BUTTON!

Fire-Powered Ship puzzle directions.

Notes to self: Activate the All Characters Have All Abilities code, and then TAKE IT OFF, or else the game will get incredibly frustratingly SLOW. Also, take all codes off before going to the Big Bridge, or attempting to find the Phantom Village! VISHNU VEST EQUIPMENT! Speaking of equipment, EQUIP KRILE WHEN SHE JOINS THE PARTY AFTER GALUF'S DEATH! As far as codes go, the "have 99 of all items" code makes the game freeze and have sound issues!

After much frustration over three hours, I managed to defeat Omega by using the power of Mirage Vests (IMAGE STATUS) / Coral Rings (fire protection), and a pre-emptive strike! I used it to power up my blades with Thundaga Spellblade, then used Rapid-Fire on Faris... I think it was a fluke!

Also, to reset the breath timer in the sunken tower of Walse, climb up the fourth floor vine to get to that chest! I finally actually defeated Famed Mimic Gogo at the bottom of the sunken Tower of Walse by using the Dragoon / Dual-Wield x4 strategy! It was pretty tricky since I wasn't sure that all my characters would survive at least five Meteor attacks, but two of them did! Got garbled text as part of the bugged fight, too... "Dragged into another dimension! Odin: All right, that's far enough! Turning to stone... Can't escape! Countdown to Pestilence... 4 KO'd! Countdown to Eruption... 5 KO'd! Level halved! KO'd!":D

To get the Drakenvale Golem in the Bestiary, defeat the dragons first and THEN defend until he thanks you!

Stick "READ AHEAD" on a character other than Lenna! To prevent having to input all the codes over and over again, SAVE / remove all codes / then close and reopen the emulator! They should all still be there!

For the Moogle in the Forest of Moore to move after the trees have been set on fire by Tzepish, save the game in the cave and then reset. The creature should NOT be blocking the entrance.

Airship in World 3: It's just above Surgate Castle, east of the Pyramid.

DO NOT SET ANY "No Random Encounters" CODE! IT WILL GLITCH OUT THE GAME! (submarine / world map won't work, and there WILL be no random encounters)

TRY DEFEATING NEO SHINRYU FIRST BEFORE OMEGA MK. II - or else you can't get out of the room for some reason! (the exit door SHOULD be open, but is shut tight instead!)

COFFEE TIME! Christon sent me an Evite to a potluck-style Sunday birthday dinner for him and Jeremy, which I automatically RSVPed to without checking the date. Now I have, and it's October 1 - no hockey conflicts! Maybe I'll just pick up a cake from Buy-Low for the Gwei-Loh right before dinner. The Canucks had Pre-Season Game #4 against the Kings today in SHANGHAI at 4:30 AM, and lost 5-2.

After Walse Tower (AKA Bill and Ben's Playhouse) sinks in FINAL FANTASY V SPOOF, Syldra comes in to save the day for Bartz / Lenna / Galuf / Faris! Only her name is Beano in the spoof, and he seemingly comes from another planet... "No, Bartz! Beano wasn't trying to eat us! He... saved us!"

Bartz, Lenna, Galuf, and Faris make it back to Castle Walse in FINAL FANTASY V SPOOF. This castle guard says, "During the king's battle with HeavyP, a man was violently expelled from the creature's ass."

Bartz, Lenna, Galuf, and Faris make it back to Castle Walse in FINAL FANTASY V SPOOF. This castle guard says, "He was apparently in there for about 50 years, living as a sort of human tapeworm."

Bartz, Lenna, Galuf, and Faris make it back to Castle Walse in FINAL FANTASY V SPOOF, where the king has killed himself after the events in Bill and Ben's Playhouse. The party comes across this soldier in bed. "I've been living in a monster's intestines for 50 years. Go figure. I can finally eat real food again."

After some procrastination, I finally sent out an email and Facebook event invitations to my Level 41 Birthday Extravaganza on Sept. 24! I also got back to FINAL FANTASY V SPOOF after a six-week hiatus!

From The Devil's Panties: This Sandwich of Consent comic from August 4 reminds me of how SOME people act on the Internet. "Ew! I HATE hot dogs!" "Okay, cool. I wasn't going to share mine with you." "NO ONE should get a hot dog because I don't like them!" "But I LOVE hot dogs." THE SANDWICH OF CONSENT!

Since I got up at 7 AM today, it was COFFEE TIME BY DEFAULT! Then I had to call Shaw since unplugging and plugging both my modem and router back in did not work for some reason. It turned out that I'd inadvertently unplugged the "send / receive" cable or wire from the Motorola modem; whoops! At least the plug was on the floor, not the back of the computer tower!

From Ethan in Lucas's Discord: The fidget spinner in 2017 is the modern-day equivalent of the 1586 Catherine Wheel used to torture people during the Spanish Inquisition.

From Comedy Central UK: Kris P. Bacon?!

From Comedy Central UK: Fanny Warts?!

glowing_dragon: (Bert and Ernie)
Eric M. called at 10:50 to say he'd be here ten minutes later to help me with my inadvertently unplugged speakers. He found some black wire with a green plug somewhere in back of my computer tower, which had been the problem. Then he plugged some things into the back of the computer tower, fixed the volume and microphone, and commented on my index cards and the dust. While he was there, I asked (knowing the answer) whether he was going to that Jacob's Well dinner at Jeremy's, then asked for a ride back. He wondered if I didn't also want a ride there: sure, as long as he wasn't doing anything beforehand! Then he cued up a numbers Youtube video, which Ayler would probably like if only he were allowed to watch Youtube. He left at 11:10 after I thanked him, which is fine. I'm glad to have sound / audio back!

I don't judge people based on race, creed, color, or gender. I judge people based on spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure.

Definitely doing some laundry today with my free time, as well as more editing project work on Wordpress! I couldn't do a whole lot yesterday; in fact, I think I only did five entries' worth! Apologized to John Powell for reading his text as sarcastic since I was having a bad day, so it's all good - it's only the Internet and Puckheads, haha! ;)

Woke up with this theme in my head... it's the extended version of Mysidian Tower theme in Final Fantasy II!
