The Canucks played Chicago tonight at 7:30, and won 3-0. They even got an empty-netter! It was the Sedin jersey retirement game! The ceremony was awesome - John Shorthouse, Dave Nonis, Markus Naslund, Trevor Linden, Mike Gillis, Marc Crawford, Alex Burrows, Jannik Hansen, and so many others! The twins definitely sent their well-wishes to Jay Bouwmeester, who collapsed on the bench during last night's St. Louis-Anaheim game because of a cardiac issue! Brian picked me up at about 9 last night from the hospital's main entrance, but I had to take a gigantic huge detour because the construction had blocked off the sidewalks right by my place AGAIN! (going through the parking lot and then find the sidewalk by the pharmacy and then cross THREE crosswalks to get to the hospital) He had joked that it would be like Little Iraq trying to get to my place, and this was about right. The chill get-together was for Paulo's 27th birthday, so of course I was going to come out and meet him. Things were fine until we tried finding Fremlin, but I eventually called Holly (who doesn't have a buzzer system or an elevator in her apartment building?!) when Brian eventually found it. She said that she was going to throw her keys down to us, probably because she was tired of going up and down the stairs for everyone else!

When Brian finally figured out the front door lock (the one in my building is recalcitrant as well), we went upstairs to Holly's suite. We met Paulo, and said hi to Holly and Darryl. Talked about bartending, gin and tonic, red wine, beers, smoking (always someone's choice), travel (Jordan and Egypt and Australia), the leftover pizza with pepperoni and sausage, online people in the other Discord server, Gastown, awful dates, hyphenated names, feminism, the 407, friends being in abusive relationships, weird names like Jesus Condom, the closed sidewalks around my place, (looking for) work, Long Island Iced Teas, (video) interviews, San Francisco, Montreal, fudge Oreos, and my Korean BBQ Kettle chips. Of course I let Holly keep them! Turns out that Paulo lives two minutes from me, which is always good just in case. I let Brian drop me off at Birchwood instead of Dogwood, but I was still with it enough to figure out where I was since things looked different. Got in at midnight, which is fine. Good times with FREEDOM!

Jeremy emailed me to say that he could make it to Felico's - YAY! Barry called me at 8:35 AM to confirm the time that he'd be picking me up, and 10:15 sounded fine to me. Then Dr. Wise's office called me at 9:05 AM to say that they had "a situation" come up and they'd have to reschedule either today or Monday at the latest. Ugh, fine - make me drink coffee for no reason! :P

The office called me again at 9:45 AM (that was fast!) to reschedule, so I brought up my ride situation, but October 19 at 11 AM should tentatively work. I then called Barry to see if it would since he's going to Japan; since he didn't have his appointment book with him at that moment, he called me back at 10:05 to say that yes, it would. Then I called the doctor's office back to confirm things. Phew, now I can hopefully relax and take Neo-Citran when I feel less awake from the coffee!

Edit at 12: I told Jimmy about finding out that "the situation" was a carjacking downtown, and he tried making me laugh by saying "Car-jacking off." NOT FUNNY IN THIS CONTEXT, BABE! Totally inappropriate, like his Goodwill thrift store "gaylord" slang for a full forklift of donations!

It's Mardi Gras today! Steph and Lisa offered to pay for my flights if I want to visit them in early April since she goes back to work on April 16. That sounds good to me! I found out that the freezer might not have been working properly, so I called Hester at 11:25 for some help in that regard. After asking me what the freezer was (???), she said to adjust the number levels on temperature sensor, and to drop her a note later. Since I had to do my laundry after I showered anyway, I decided to combine two second-floor trips into one, and finished the laundry at 2. Hester came by at 3:45 to check stuff, and she said it was okay after adjusting some more things. At least she wasn't rude like she can be!
