After DOUBLE COFFEE TIME, Eric texted me to say that he was heading out from home, so could pick me up around 4. PHEW! At 4:25, he picked me up for the belated family Christmas 2019 dinner with the Fritos Hoops (in my new bag just to show it off) and the American Tourister suitcase and yellow-green Roots knapsack. We didn't talk much on the way there, but that was just fine. At the house, we parked around the corner, and Jeremy was there as well to my surprise. I said hi to everyone and Ayler wanted to test my piano skills. He also wanted to test everyone's math skills at dinner, oh boy! Hiero wanted to show me the PETER PAN library book, telling me who the characters were. I was interested to see if he liked it, anyway. He also cannonballed into his mom - not a good idea!

Beckett just wandered around, thinking that Eric's watch was a ball (not really) and amusing us with his "yeah" answers to questions like "do you want a beer?" He's picked up "please" and some other things while I was gone. Mom insisted on FaceTiming Steph at 8 PM there, and after she didn't want to talk to Ayler (telling him that it was "too noisy"), she did want to see Beckett, who called her "Attie" too. He definitely wanted all the blueberries from the dessert, calling them "boh-boh" (like the pom-pom on the end of my Santa hat), and smiled when Jon got out the Dewdrops bottle for the kids! Later, he wanted me to put some cool sunglasses on him, then plopped down into my lap with what was a very dilapidated 4-page "100 Words" baby book. Turns out Harmony recycled most of the already-broken book when I was gone.

Told Randal about Henry's "Dear Santa, my brother did it" shirt, which he seemed amused by. Ayler wanted to see how much taller I was since he's 4 foot 2, and also used Eric as a piano bench because I'd used the actual bench to sit on at the dinner table. That was pretty funny! Hiero called everyone in the room "Captain America," and Mom almost wore my coat when she left, thinking she'd left hers on the couch - NO! Mom also said she gave Deb a gift for taking me to the airport (why?!) and Dad wondered if I'd said thank you "enough." *rolleyes* She also claims Pastor Dan is leaving VCEFC, but when I checked with Jon later, he was as surprised as I was, and Eric said "that's what your mom says..." He had slept in and missed church this morning, but caught some of the last World Juniors hockey game. I got home at 8:45, which wasn't bad at all. Jon thanked me in advance for coming this week. Interesting, indeed. Harmony said that they'd given me a pink Pure Nail Spa gift card, and to call ahead first. She also said that it looked like I'd had a fun trip - for sure!

After DOUBLE COFFEE TIME, I went out at 6:55 on a 401 to meet Chrystal at the Broadway London Drugs. Good thing I left early since the next Waterfront train was out of service at what HAD BEEN a surprisingly empty Brighouse Station! There was some guy clapping like a seal on the bus and at the station - thank goodness he wasn't in my train car! I got to London Drugs at 7:30, and was happy that there was no lineup at the post office so I could mail Corey and Julie's cards. However, I got a postal worker who was grumpy as fuck: I have NEVER been told that I shouldn't write anything in the corner of the envelope, otherwise the stamp would obscure the destination address! Fuck you, random guy!

Chrystal and I went to Pho Extreme Xe Lua: #17 and #1 it was! SPECIAL! We talked about her nephews Ethan (4) and Ethan (1 and a bit), Ayler, Hiero, Beckett discovering new words and the door, Beckett being "smart" by banging his head on the hardwood floor to delay Harmony's leaving for a school meeting, Beckett being really smart by putting all his molecule balls on the far windowsill so he can play with those and look at the reflected lights across the street at the same time (I left him to do that for a minute - he's fine and preoccupied), my broken suitcase, my replacement suitcase, my upcoming trip, and her just doing family things at home this holiday season. Angus and Melia and Phil and Grace have their own families now, and it would be pretty huge to have a family gathering! I got home at 9:05 on a 407, which is pretty good for leaving at 8:30. (Chrystal bused home again!)

Successfully packed replacement carry-on American Tourister suitcase with enough room for ALL my stuff, a working zipper, and a much simpler non-push handle! Way easier to maneuver on transit, too! After COFFEE TIME, I went out at 4 on a 407 to hopefully make it on time to Do Chay Vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant at Kingsway and Knight. The Brighouse stops have changed because of some construction for a new bus loop - will we ever get to use it? (old Richmond Centre stop is a block back - the Brighouse stop is the old 410 stop) I got there at 5, so killed time by going to the crowded Dollar Tree. I should have just gone into Save-On Foods because I almost killed myself going out of the store since their outside lighting left a lot to be desired. THE STAIRS AND RAMP SHOULD BE LIT UP! I eventually walked back a block to the Save-On, where I bought Teriyaki Noodles Sidekicks and Allen's Malt Vinegar before taking advantage of their wifi connection to copy-paste a NON-MMS text message to Mike into Hangouts instead, and catch up on Youtube comments. No, idiot, you can't police public comments and say "normal" people can't hijack others OR wish staph on me! BAD SOCIAL CUES!

I STILL got to the restaurant first, but hoped that Jon had reserved a table when he wouldn't answer my text messages. Hiero came in a couple of minutes later with Mom, Dad, and a wheeled small suitcase. Dad showed me how the luggage handle worked (push down / pull up), got me to try it out, and gave me some tiny keys which weren't for me. Geez, they're going to set off alarms at the airport! Apparently, they're NOT driving me to the airport anymore - WHAT THE FUCK?! Ayler asked me how many pounds I weighed, only to be shot down by various people.

We talked about monsoon rolls, their running out of coffee, the pub down the street KNOWING they get busy and send people there to wait, tomorrow's plans (Harmony's parents are coming by - so I MIGHT come on Friday if I let her know by Thursday evening), Harmony working on Friday, Beckett liking to look at all the lights, satay noodles, spicy soup noodles, Ayler asking the server about how busy the restaurant gets on weekends (I said he had a question... A TWO-HOUR WAIT?!), Steph meeting Mark Messier, and Dad's choir tonight. It was definitely cold outside when we left at 7:15 or so! I got home at 8:05 on a 407, thanks to Jon and Harmony driving me to King Edward Station. Ayler and Hiero thanked me for my Christmas gifts - I still have time to give Beckett the stuffed Santa dog, I think. The Canucks played Philadelphia at 4, and lost 2-1.

Random stuff from Mom and Dad: President's Choice jalapeno cheddar popcorn, a yellow-green Roots knapsack or backpack to "replace" my reusable bags from London Drugs, two Paderno steak knives, small Cuisinart scissors, a 100 Yen coin, grey Touch Gloves mittens, a Gildan black T-shirt with a golden dragon, an Asian notebook, an embossed pink rose journal, and two random spiral notepads. I had my cataract eye surgery at Mount St. Joseph's Hospital today. Before Barry picked me up at 9:45, I showered as recommended. We STILL had to wait and he left at 11:35, and I was finally called in at 12:15 or so. It's a strange sensation being wheeled on a hospital bed! The needle went fine, the surgery went well, and I talked to Dr. Wise a bit before and after. Tomorrow at noon sounds very doable especially since Barry will drive me instead of my parents!

Mom and Dad did come to pick me up, but they had to wait. HA HA HA! I got some Olympic plain Greek yogurt x4 which expires on January 21, some Kwong Chow leftovers, some Fit-Overs to borrow, soy sauce octopus, curry chicken, noodles, homemade lemonade, Fuku Superior Soup Noodles x2 which expire on October 5, and a thin green Koret vest. However, I don't NEED to give Barry a thank-you card, or ask about the surgery for the other eye at tomorrow's appointment right away! The Canucks played the Coyotes at 7 tonight, and lost 4-3 in overtime. UGH! Also updated everyone, including Deb. Temporarily wearing glasses over the eye shield so I can post this entry. No pain or nausea!

After DOUBLE COFFEE TIME, I left at 2:45 on a 401 for Jeremy's. I had the on-sale Brookside Chocolate bars x2 (Roasted Almond and Sea Salt / Cranberry Almond with Blood Orange Flavor) and the four NHL 100 Advent calendars / Waterbridge Belgian chocolate seashells for Jon, plus the Terry's Chocolate Orange / NHL 100 Advent calendar / Waterbridge Belgian chocolate seashells for Eric Ho. Maybe HE could drive me home, haha! It turned out he couldn't since he'd driven downtown because he wouldn't be able to get much parking! I killed 45 minutes at Kingsgate Mall, but got to Jeremy's at 4. Ayler picked up, but wouldn't buzz me into the building for some reason. I tried four times after that, and LUCKILY, Jeremy's neighbors were exiting the building and let me in! (possibly because they saw I was actively trying to be buzzed in) Later, we found out that the kids had left the phone off the hook for half an hour! UGH!

I settled in by Harmony, saying hi to her and baby Beckett, who held my finger and burbled at me. Ayler and Hiero wanted to do THUMB WAR and STELLA STELLA OLA, but I was fine with watching them (and the Rubik's Cube) instead. I read a MR. MEN book to them, plus a book on frogs and one on animal tracks and Curious George. When everyone got there, I managed to get a ride to Broadway Station from Kevin later on. Talked to Randal, SERVANTS friends (Rudy?), Christon, Dilys, Alice, Jesse, Trish, Caleb, Becky, and others about Crown Royal Black whiskey, condos, townhouses, toilets, sanitation, history, vacation, the Christmas holidays, beer, the food, white Eric, Chinese Eric, Condoleeza Rice and the Cleveland Browns, women and guns, chimeras / DNA / transgender people, Uncle Stanley's colon cancer (but he is positive about it), and more. Kevin drove me near Broadway Station at 8:50 in the freezing weather, and I got home at 9:50 on a 407. Phew!

After COFFEE TIME, Barry picked me up at 8:30 AM so we could go to the UBC Eye Care Centre on Willow at 9:15 AM for an eye measurement scan because of my dense cataract. RED LIGHTS IN FRONT OF MY EYES! SMELLING SKIN! The technician asked where my parents were and why they weren't with me... I CAN TAKE CARE OF THINGS MYSELF, AND MY RIDE IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!

Barry and I talked about the rush-hour traffic, the Royal Bank kiosk machine that I noticed yesterday inside Shoppers, changing the payday shopping appointment plans to THURSDAY instead of Wednesday at 9:30 AM (gets me out of going to Dinesty with the parents!), his ongoing Wednesday appointments at 11, the RDSP stuff, and music. I got home at 10:10, and he helped me move the bedframe support back inside from where the cleaners left it outside where I'd bump into it. OUCH! I still can't close my bedroom door fully, though.

While I remembered, I emailed Eric about the construction zone and consequent road closures as a reminder for Sunday's ride to Jeremy's. He replied to say that he has a cold, so might not be okay for Sunday - UGH! The Canucks played the Wild at 5 today, and lost 6-2! I went to the pharmacy next door at 1:30 to refill my prescription, showered, and did laundry today. Then I went to H and M to see if I could get sweatpants. No luck at all, even when I dragged an associate across the store! At least now I have the phone number and (mow that I'm home) the proper tag numbers for my preferred style of sweatpants! 604-279-1811 AND 063 658 68! When I got home and organized stuff, I called the store - they don't have that one because it's popular / best-selling, but will have a shipment in very soon, and said I should call in the late afternoon or early evening. I got on-sale Arm and Hammer 50-load laundry detergent and store brand garbage bags at Shoppers, and on-sale bulk pads x2 (saving $1 per package) at London Drugs (just missing the 407) before hauling the heavy stuff home at 2:50 on a 401, having to get off one stop earlier because of the road closures and construction! Gotta remind white Eric about that soon... I also found a random Bench / Body men's underwear in her dried laundry. o_O

I thought that was early, but considering that I had to wait a bit for the 33 bus to 29th Avenue across the street from King Edward Station, that was okay. Thank goodness that Victoria is a major street! When I got to the restaurant, most people were there already, but whatever. I got to sit at a table with Fraser, Lisa, Harmony, Ayler, Hiero, and Steph's trainer plus her family. Of course I said hi to Melia (I didn't know she worked in the Minoru area!), Angus, Dawn, Eni, Michelle, Daniel, Denise, Margaret, Eunice (who hugged me hello), Chelsea (who hugged me goodbye), her husband Nick, Auntie Christine, Uncle Reuben, Uncle Y.C., Auntie Catherine, Auntie May, Auntie Eva, Auntie Gloria, and Uncle Richard! I managed to put my oversized Santa hat on Henry before eating, haha.

We had a ten-course Chinese meal... SO FULL on fish, veggies (pea tips / carrots / broccoli), shrimp, lettuce wraps, duck meat soup (or whatever replaced shark fin soup), crispy duck, chicken, crab, rice, and tapioca dessert! Fraser was distracted by my bling-bling sweater, for which Lisa blessed me. He named all the colors correctly! Hiero said "no" to the question of whether I was a girl, so I guess I'm a boy by default. Could be worse! Harmony offered to drop me off at a Canada Line station later, so I accepted. She also told me to watch Ayler while she took Hiero to the washroom, but he was all preoccupied with counting the squares on a pillar anyway, so I didn't really need to. Of course I said bye to Steph, Lisa, Fraser, and Henry before leaving! Ayler said that SOMETHING was hurting after being buckled into his carseat... good to know, haha. Thanks to Harmony dropping me off half a block from Oakridge Mall with my leftovers, I got home at 8:05 on a 407 which I only had to wait a few minutes for at Brighouse. The Canucks played St. Louis at 7 tonight. I got home when it was the second period, and the game went to overtime, where Vancouver lost 4-3.

I discovered surprise redrum before going to bed last night - UGH! After COFFEE TIME at 10, I went out at 11 to the Broadway Canada Line Station to meet Auntie Catherine at 11:30-ish. It was definitely time to switch over to Grandma's warm purple Alia winter coat! Auntie Catherine saw me at the station and we hugged hello. I had tea and hand-dragged lamb noodles with four pan-fried dumplings. We talked about my nephews, Youtube, the Bible / her belief in Jesus Christ / original sin / human intelligence vs. God intelligence (like God is automatically more intelligent?) / the Bible / some Christian preacher named David Jeremiah / whether I believed in Jesus Christ (I didn't sign up for that during lunch!), my own personal beliefs, Chung Yan, Chung Ming, Mattias and Marcus being 9 and 7 now (what?!), VCEFC, Pastor Dan still being there, the aging population at church, a speaker on Martin Luther King and the Reformation tonight at the church, Winter Conference as something I could do to remind me of what I grew up with (what?!), Kids Night on Halloween (what would I do there?!), and the Book Warehouse. Despite all that religious stuff, I did thank her for the lunch and said no when she asked whether I wanted anything else.

When I left the Book Warehouse after laughing at a book called YOUR SHITTY FAMILY, I bumped into Auntie Cathy! We talked about her Sunday School kids getting older, her and Uncle Hansel downsizing to live in a condo around 12th and Heather, Frances Chan staying in town now to take care of her mom, Darren Chew's wedding, her trip to Hong Kong next week to spend time with her mom, her getting back in December, my nephews, and her being glad that I was staying warm before she went on with her day because it was getting cold. I finally got home at 1:20 on a 407, and checked my mail: I got another Royal Bank debit card, which replaces the temporary debit card (which I've cut up already) and the card where the chip could not be read! Yay! Then I decided to send Ellen a Facebook message about her mom. I was totally fine with her emailing Frances to ask whether she could give me her email address or contact info, which Frances did allow. I understand and respect that, definitely! Also, I ate my egg salad sandwich for National Sandwich Day today.

Since I woke up at 7:30 AM, it was COFFEE TIME BY DEFAULT! Hester's husband Ni and a suite inspector guy came by later at 10:35 for the annual suite inspection. I got the suite inspector guy (who said that the sink was losing its shine - DUH?!) to help me remove that dead mouse on the glue trap behind the couch. No, he was not allowed to put it in the kitchen garbage can! I had readied a London Drugs plastic bag (and rubber gloves if needed) for that purpose earlier! Ni said again that the pest control would come by next month, so I called him on that. Apparently, he'd forgotten that it was now August. Still, I shouldn't have to live with that for weeks! I went out to throw the London Drugs plastic bag in the dumpster outside, then liberally applied white vinegar to that area of the carpet. I don't care what the management thinks about a temporary wet floor!

I went out to the Bay at 3:15 on a 407 for a new 3-pack of Jockey underwear in size 9 (last bought on November 15, 2016) since I needed some partly because of the other day. Thank goodness for extra money in my bank account! Then I went to London Drugs to get Tasty Bite basmati rice and some Arroy-D green curry to go with it, bulk Always pads, 400 index cards, on-sale Guacachips, on-sale Salsitas chips, NEW on-sale Paqui tortilla chips in Grilled Habanero / Cool Salsa Verde flavors, and an on-sale replacement $2 dark blue washcloth. I was surprised when I got home at only 4:25 on another 407!
