After MORE COFFEE TIME, I left for Jon and Harmony's at 2. I stopped by the Kam Do Bakery to get a BBQ pork bun to eat on the train, then got to the house at 2:45 or so, right on time. I was delayed a couple of minutes by some neighbor lady with a dog who recognized me from Mom's Facebook photos. I didn't really mind talking to her, though. At least the door was open, probably because it was pretty hot outside! When Jon asked, I requested some water. The kids were eating some snacks when I got there: Hiero offered me his peach pit (no thanks!) and Ayler told me that they didn't have any more BBQ pork buns. That's fine, as I'd just eaten one! Then came the usual questions about how long ago and what time I'd eaten it, along with Ayler reciting all the Canada Line stations up to Olympic Village. He's getting smart!

While Jon's music student Justin was over, the kids were pretty loud, but made "gas stations" out of bristle blocks ("Gas gas gas!"), offered me grapes from their plate (sure!), made long trains, and put some tiny playing cards in numerical order. Apparently, they got them from the hospital ("not blood draws - a vaccine!") a couple weeks ago. At least they're not being taught how to gamble yet! Ayler also wanted me to stay for dinner, so I said I'd think about it. Hiero pointed out some holes in my socks - I swear I just bought them, but who knows? I'll just have to get some more later! Ayler asked me whether Jon would have two more music students; I had no idea! Hiero wanted me to read a book about 100 vehicles to him - sure, why not? It's better than fighting with your brother over toy trains and train tracks!

When Justin left, they "gave" him some train tracks, which he of course put back when they weren't looking. Easy to do! When the kids weren't there, I put back the noisy xylophone and the hammer to go with it, but Ayler was okay with catching the balls with his hand. Jon noticed and thanked me, then a woman came over for a piano lesson. Harmony got home and also invited me to stay for dinner, which was ratatouille / zucchini / corn on the cob. Harmony got home and also invited me to stay for dinner, which was ratatouille / zucchini / corn on the cob. She said that she was thinking about taking the kids to the Family Centre, the park, and then to physio on Wednesday, so my coming over around 12:30 would be good. No time for anything but mushroom soup, then!

Ayler said that we could eat the zucchini seeds, and I offered an apologetic "sorry" to Jon and that other student when Hiero squealed at seeing the corn on the cob. "Corn excitement over here!" Then Ayler said that I could stay for "the ice cream" - cute! Ayler thought that Randal would come over - who knows? He did, though. Hiero told me that Uncle Randal was there, so I asked how he knew. Apparently, he heard Randal's voice. Randal was indeed over for music lessons, and he said hi to me. To be polite, I offered him a frosty Hello back. Whatever, I don't care what the kids think. Then Ayler wondered if he'd eaten yet and whether he'd eat later. I said he might eat later if he hadn't already. Ayler asked why he was reading, so I said that he was probably doing it because he liked reading just like me. That's fine for me, but that's all I'm willing to concede.

Harmony brought out one Easter egg each for the kids (which she'd apparently forgotten about for some time), and Ayler asked why I wasn't having any. I had some chocolate at home already, I told him. Harmony said that I could go after dinner, which was fine by me. I actually had to put down my dinner bowl because Ayler requested a hug before I left, which is totally fine. Ayler also wanted me to stay overnight, so I asked him where I'd sleep. "Share Daddy's pillow!" was the answer I got. I told Harmony that she might want to explain why I could NOT sleep in the same bed as Jon, then left after saying bye to everyone except Randal. If the kids notice and say something, whatever. At 7:15, I was home on a 407, and fielded an email from ERIC HO saying that he'd even had to work on his birthday last week! Poor guy! He wants to catch a Lions game, but I looked at the schedule and the only near ones are in September! Not doable if he wants to hang out as August winds down!

From Julie S. and BFUK: I have 20 unread books at home, but I really, really need to buy this one. That's the story of a book lover!

From the r/hockey Discord server: Nick Bonino has an Italian background, so he's enjoying some homecooked spaghetti right out of the Stanley Cup!

My Internet connection seemed really spotty today, so I had to call up Shaw at 4:10 when my phone lines actually worked and investigate. I got an older lady named Joan in Nanaimo who ran me through a speed test, and said that my upload / download speeds were actually pretty good. Luckily, it seemed to work okay after the phone call - PHEW!

In SUPER MARIO FANTASY ADVENTURE, Mario / Luigi / Yoshi / Toad are exploring Musha. This guy says, "Hey, Mario people, how did you COME THERE? Where WERE YOU?" What the heck?! Is this Engrish?!

In SUPER MARIO FANTASY ADVENTURE, Mario / Luigi / Yoshi / Toad go into Musha Castle. This guard tells them: "Bowser is responsible OF all the bad things again!" More bad English! Ugh!

In SUPER MARIO FANTASY ADVENTURE, Mario / Luigi / Yoshi / Toad go into the Chaos Shrine. They see this treasure chest which is like the question mark blocks in the original MARIO game - quirky!

I discovered that Michael Paul Marcus McKinney unfriended me, but that's okay!

In SUPER MARIO FANTASY ADVENTURE, Mario / Luigi / Yoshi / Toad check out the Charm Song that they got from Lufenia. "Stamped on the bottom... MADE IN LEFEIN."

My ex-friend Michael Paul Marcus McKinney, whom I remember meeting via Scrabulous in 2008!

From my ex-friend Michael Paul Marcus McKinney: Here's an alien (possibly a Reticulian) saying, "Psst... don't tell anyone that we are coming to earth in 2017."

I decided to call my worker Barry at 10:50 to finally let him know about last week's events: Hester actually believing me with proof about the freezer not working. I swear, the ice cream was pretty bleh! Then the apartment building manager Hester, her husband Ni, and the maintenance repair guy came around at 1:30 to check out my fridge and freezer. The official diagnosis is that I need a new fridge and freezer combo because my current one is from the 1980s, and the maintenance guy isn't going to repair THAT! Thank goodness that Hester heard that straight from the repair guy's mouth, as she will now let her office know about things, so I'll see what happens with this. She also told me not to buy anything that needed to be frozen until after I heard what her office had to say and got a new fridge and freezer: DUH?!

In SUPER MARIO FANTASY ADVENTURE, Mario / Luigi / Yoshi / Toad go into the Earth Cavern to defeat Wario and get the Ruby. "There is a stone plate on the floor... You sense something... Evil? ..."

Ruby: A large red stone.

Later, the SUPER MARIO FANTASY ADVENTURE party goes into the Giant's Cave to give the Ruby to this stone monster. "If you want pass, give me the RUBY... Crunch, crunch, crunch... Mmm, it tastes so sweet. Rubies are my favorite."

Rod: The ROD to remove the plate from the earth. (the SUPER MARIO FANTASY ADVENTURE party got this from the Sage's Cave)

The SUPER MARIO FANTASY ADVENTURE party gets the Oxyale from the formerly-Bottled Faerie once they let her go when they reach the town of Gaia. "The OXYALE furnishes fresh air." This lets the party breathe underwater in the Sunken Shrine dungeon in Onrac.

The SUPER MARIO FANTASY ADVENTURE party goes to the Sunken Shine dungeon, and gets the Slab. "Unknown symbols cover the SLAB."

The SUPER MARIO FANTASY ADVENTURE party (Mario / Luigi / Yoshi / Toad) is finally able to fly into Gaia, where they come across this backwards-talking broom! "Do you have great Power?" it asks them in backwards speak.

The SUPER MARIO FANTASY ADVENTURE party (Mario / Luigi / Yoshi / Toad) is finally able to fly into Gaia, where they come across this backwards-talking broom! This lady nearby says, "What's that broom up to? It's talking backwards!"

The SUPER MARIO FANTASY ADVENTURE party (Mario / Luigi / Yoshi / Toad) finally gets to the Caravan and gets the Bottled Fairy, as seen in their Items.

The SUPER MARIO FANTASY ADVENTURE party (Mario / Luigi / Yoshi / Toad) uses the Bottled Fairy in the Caravan before they get to Gaia, where she is supposed to fly away. Thank goodness that save states are a thing in JNES 1.1! "Pop! A fairy appears, then is gone."

Eric Ho called me at 5:35 to say that he was heading down to Richmond, and alerted me to the fact that Nathan was back in town recently, so of course I checked out Nathan's Facebook page! It's true: Daniel is now a Doctor! Also, their mom Auntie Lillian is going to have a small park at Yukon and 17th named after her soon! He got here at 6:10, and I had the parking pass ready, of course! Then he said that he was in his neighborhood, and bumped into Mike. Eric actually deliberately waved him down to talk to him even though he doesn't like Mike much: apparently, Mike's gone on fewer cross-border trips, but I think that's because Hagen's had reduced their requirements for picking up packages from every two weeks to a month. Anyway, Eric had apparently told Mike that "Leslie and I have fun when we hang out and it's not so empty." I had to get him to translate this, which apparently meant that there wasn't a feeling of missing the other person! (and to see if he missed stuff like that, too) At least Mike apparently got the message since he went quiet afterwards, and Eric mentioned now that Mike wasn't his cup of tea, either - JUST LIKE BILLIE DID! Of course, I had seemed happy to him back in 2013 and 2014...

We also talked about his new glasses (the other pair broke), my good eye for noticing that, future hangouts, wanting to extend me the courtesy of a heads-up, the Creamsicle ice cream, LeBron James and his dynasty, Sidney Crosby compared to Alexander Ovechkin, his not liking Richmond drivers, Nick Bonino, EA Sports and playing past players vs. modern players, a future road trip, Michael Jordan, a zero-zero tie (0-0 tie) till very late in the game, and Shania Twain being on TV at the game in Nashville before he finally left at 8:05. Yes, we ate McDonalds fries / sour cream and onion Pringles chips / Efruti gummy candy / wasabi Pringles chips / Creamsicle ice cream / Kettle chips in Moscow Mule flavor / Lays sour cream and sriracha chips. Now I'm going to relax with video game music for the rest of the night because having someone talk at me for three hours is pretty draining!

From Reddit: Marcus and Markieff Morris are twins?!

In FINAL FANTASY VI: THE ETERNAL CRYSTALS, Tina is alone at the Sealed Gate in the Imperial Base. "I can do it... but why do I feel so wretched?"

Went out to buy another bubble-wrap envelope for Corey, a 69-cent CANADA one-litre bottled water / some Jensen's Chips for me, Ghostly Kit-Kats x8 (me / Eric Ho / Corey / Janina / Marilynn / Chrystal / Harmony / Lisa), Scaries x3, ScAero x3, and Coffin Crisp x3 at London Drugs before I mailed skull bandages / skull notebooks / scary candy / letter stickers / Halloween cards / a birthday card to Janina and Marilynn. It was $21.82, but I'll eat the extra cost. When I got home, I emailed Corey to make sure he's coming home for Xmas from Taiwan, and organized everything into Ziploc bags. I didn't forget the extra skull notebook, Christmas card, birthday card, or glittery Vegas postcard for Corey!
